Where to Smoke a Cigar and Enjoy a Cocktail in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"This simple lounge and bar in the heart of West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip is a reliable indoor spot for enjoying a cigar and pairing with either house-brewed beer, cocktails, wine, or spirits. While the selection isn’t quite world-class, there are premium options across the board, including in the cigar department, which stores its cigars in a large humidor. They’re open pretty late most nights and you can even order food from State Social House next door. Otherwise the space offers some tables, bar seating, and lounge chairs to enjoy a game and relax with friends after a dinner nearby." - Matthew Kang

The Mai Tai PA may be the best beer I have ever had. Absolutely loved this place, really fun vibe and really excellent brews

Cassie Britton

Google
One of the local favorites 💗. Staff has always been super nice & they have crowlers and growlers to go (and all prices listed on their signs)

First time here on a Saturday night. Great beer selection, fast and friendly service, heaters outside, and really fun love music (that wasn't too loud). The food truck option was also good. We can't wait to go back! Only wish they had more to-go can options because we loved the beers.

Google
Tortugo is one of my friends and my favorite breweries. They have great beers on tap. Of their regular beers our favorites are the West Coast Double IPA, the West Coast Livin' and their Chocolate Raspberry Porter. They just announced two new flavors Surf the EAC West Coast IPA and the Peachy Keen Seymour Kolsch which I'm very excited to try! They a limited food menu of burgers, fries, a bratwurst, etc which are very tasty and now they've started to have a Crawfish Boil guy come Saturdays. Messy but very good. Parking is a bit limited in the lot but we've always been able to find street parking close by when the lot is full.

Google
Nice craft brewery located near the 405 freeway in Inglewood. The beer selections are pretty darn good. And they have a taco truck on-site. We were watching Dodgers playoff game tonight and the place was packed.

Google
Good craft beer with a nice variety of flavors - I particularly enjoyed the pepper beer - and nice staff. They have patio seating available, there's a parking lot, and a small grill where they make hamburgers and bratwursts (which were good - but a bit overpriced for what you get). Overall, a nice experience, but probably eat before you get there (or they could bring the price down a little - $12 for a burger seems a little intense and I probably would have bought a couple more if it were a little cheaper).

Yesterday 2/23/2023 some co workers and I found this brewery near our job and decided to check it out . Is a small local place, can’t say much about staff cause their was not many around. Only staff I seen was the guy at register which he was cool . Don’t expect any food or appetizers , their is none . Personally I would not go back to this place, their sitting area is small and their parking is hardly any parking .

Google
This place is really chill and laid back environment... I'm here on a Thursday and it's not packed but a few are in and out sampling beer and having a good time.... The bathroom was clean... The food was so delicious, I had a double cheeseburger and fries and it was very very good.... The beer was great as well... my favorite was the Cristolbal I like light beer but my man had the batch 200 its a heavier beer and he liked it... we had a really good time... definitely going back....

Yelp
It took quite a while to finally check this place out. We tried a few times and it wasn't open so make sure to check their hours. I believe on weekdays they open at 4pm and weekends at 2pm. The Kolsche beer I had was really tasty and I look forward to going back to try others. My other half enjoyed his Mexican Lager. We were able to enjoy watching the Dodgers game there - there were several TV's playing various sports which isn't always available at breweries. They have bar counter seating, outdoor seating and a food truck if you get hungry. They day I was there, there was a birria truck. It's off the beaten track so you won't likely be driving past it without intension. It's really close to LAX so if you happen to be in the area, I highly suggest checking this place out. They also have different events going on in the evening around 6pm - live music, games, trivia, etc., Small parking lot but ample street parking.

Yelp
We like their beers and it's a great spot to catch a Dodgers/ Lakers/ Kings game. I like their Lager, Kolsch, Red, and pilsner. Friendly staff, and cool vibes for sure!

Yelp
My daughter knows where to take her parents when we visit...craft breweries. Tortugo is intimate and fun. Especially on a Sunday night when Dodgers beat Mets to head into the World Series. Gochu Gang was cooking Korean-Latino tacos of amazement. My daughter and I each had two of the tasty and fruity Mai Tai sour beers. So so so good. He tried IPAs. Crowd vibe so fun, and winning a big Dodgers' game made the place electric...in a cool smaller brewery way. Cheers. Great service with just one beer tender managing to serve all of us with blonde curls and a smile. Cheers again.

Yelp

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite breweries that I've been supporting since Covid. I recommend their flight with signature beers & seasonals. The ambiance is always inviting with helpful staff that are knowledgeable about beer. Their Micheladas are my go to and their rotating food trucks pair well. Great vibe to catch a sports game with plenty of tv's.

Yelp
Cool spot to hang out. Went there for the first time and had so much fun. Great beer, great people fun environment. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great Brewery, with different beer types, gas heaters for the winter months and a variety of food trucks/vendors are present to satisfy your craving. If you live in the Inglewood/adjacent area I recommend going and enjoying a beer.

Yelp
This spot is such a gem. I love watching sports games with my boyfriend here. They also usually have a food truck.

Annabel P.

Yelp
An outdoor type of setting however all the seating is under a terrace so rain or shine im sure tortugos got you covered. Amazing selection of their own beers also avail togo. I brought my dog as well. Good chatter around with loud-ish music but still able to talk to your party. I would recommend big parties on a not so busy night, or arrive early as tables can be limited. Men and women's bathroom and I believe a different daily food vendor. Today (friday) there was philly cheesesteaks and hoagies - we ordered philly cheese fries sooo good, actually tastes like its flavor! Beers my bf got the Cristobal lager - smooth, crisp and full bodied and I got the Grapefruit IPA - tastes like grapefruit!! You can also ask for a sample taste before ordering if youre unsure like me... love going to tortugo when im in inglewood!

Yelp
Came here for the first time a few weeks ago. Was overall a little underwhelmed - most of the seating is outside under a permanent tent kind of thing, but it was a bit chilly and there were only bar stools inside. Their site/yelp say "Over 20 beers on tap!" but they had maybe 10-12 and only one sour or seltzer. I ordered the pineapple habanero seltzer and it was not remotely spicy - what a bummer! Definitely tasted pineapple more than anything. Nice thing is there is a parking lot here so if you can't find a spot on the street, pull down the driveway to the left of the building and there are about 14 spots around back. Overall our experience was alright, no major issues, but nothing to run back for necessarily. Not particularly close to anything else, either.

Yelp
Beer was great as was the service! Live music on a Saturday and some delicious carnitas being served up. If we didn't have somewhere to be I could've stayed there for a while! I really liked the wide range of traditional beer styles, and great quality lagers with variations were fun and reminded me of the good old days...

Vanessa N.

Yelp
Great beer, love the michi mix and Eric's hospitality is 1 in a million! Parking is limited but plenty of street parking. They have food trucks and live music sometimes also trivia. Highly recommend all the IPA's and the horchata beer !

Yelp
I think I found my new favorite brewery!?? I've been a die hard angel city gal but I happened to come back to my old hood to donate some books and made a quick pit stop. There's free parking at the brewery and it's tucked away among other industrial businesses. I came on a Sunday at 3:00 pm and it wasn't crazy busy. They had the pre season football game, a tv for the FIFA women's World Cup, and another screen playing a women's UFC match I started with a regular michelada (they have a spicy option as well) and ended up getting 5 tasters at 2 dollars each. 10/10 recommend the tasters and The michelada! Even if you think you don't like micheladas, I promise you you'll like this one. For the tasters I got the slow and Glo hazy IPA, which has a 7.9% ABV, next, I had the Annie's hard seltzer, which is a peach seltzer add a 6% ABV. I tried the mai tai PA, which was a 5% ABV and had notes of pineapple, orange, coconut and cherry. I also tried the peach cobbler, kettle sour, which is brewed with fresh peaches and graham crackers, it had an 8% ABV. And the last one I tried was the yaaassss!!! Which included notes of banana, strawberry, mango, pineapple, cherry and included edible glitter -- it sits at 4% ABV If you want to do one of the casters, they give you a little card to fill out - I strongly recommend it, I think you can finish it with one person I also got the German bratwurst which is braised in kicker rock IPA and served on a pretzel bun with grilled onions and stone ground mustard . Total for the flight, the bratwurst, and the michelada was $28 not including tip Chill vibes alllllll around

Yelp
Stopped at Tortugo Brewing on Thursday night after my flight landed in LA. Large and diverse beer options in a sports friendly brewery environment. Quality: Nineteen beers available. Crostobal Lager On Peppers was excellent, had a bit of a kick. Secret IPA was a solid, drinkable west coast IPA. Quantity: Solid pours, multiple size options. Value: $7-$10 for Draft Pours. Ambiance: Tortugo Brewing is in Inglewood, California not far from LAX. Decent amount of seating, mostly outdoors. Warehouse brewery style, with lots of televisions. Crowd: Small and quiet. Service: Extremely friendly. Parking: Small private lot and easy street.

Yelp
Tasty brews! Amazing food (via food trucks and pop ups), great crowd & entertainment! This place is very chill, definitely a hidden gem.

Yelp
Cool, little spot, tucked away. Delicious beers on tap and friendly service. Will be back. Kitchen closes at 9.

Arita N.

Yelp
Cool local spot to sip into if you're from the area, or headed to a concert at the Forum/Sofi. Tap selections didn't disappoint. Music: Jersey Joe (IG: heyjerseyjoe) was a vibe, his solo rendition of 90's alternative had everyone singing. Management is friendly and easy going. Parking: minimal parking space, but Food:Food was good, different vendors per day, we got to try No Mambres Fusion Groumet (IG nomambres). I'm really not big on fusion food, so I enjoyed some chicken tenders and fries. Chicken tenders glazed with their version of buffalo sauce. My friends really enjoyed the Bulgogi Fries with sauce. Overall: 9/10 if I ever catch my self at a concert in the area, I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Great taco truck on site and an amazingly huge selection of beers on tap. I did a taster and there wasn't a single one I wouldn't have wanted a pint of but sadly I could only fit one more pint in after the flight and tacos. Parking is limited behind the building and street parking seems a bit sketchy but there's a lot of of it in the evening.

Yelp
Large space, solid number of options, comparable pricing to other LA breweries. Was def chilly (went on a cooler, rainy day, no heat lamps and indoor seating was contiguous with outdoor so guessing not any warmer.) Got a mango hard seltzer and enjoyed it! Appreciated the non-beer option on tap.
google avatar

Jasmyn C.

Yelp
OMG, the beer here is so refreshing and FULL of flavor! We found out about this place because another business was advertising fresh Crawfish from the Boot! The crawfish will only be available on Saturdays and only while in season. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! The beer.. where do I begin. We did a sampler to see what we liked. We actually enjoyed everything that was picked, but the Mai-Tai and Hurricane beers were our favorites. This is definitely a hidden gem tucked away in Inglewood and we will definitely be back for more beer!
google avatar

Yelp
If ur going to a concert at the forum or sofi coming to this place, the beers are good, they got tvs, and the price is good. Staff is helpful and they have food trucks.

T W.

Yelp
I've lived in this area for years and had no idea this place existed. It's tucked away and has parking. It a great brewery to try their selections and enjoy a popup food vendor. It's also pretty cost effective all things considered these days.
google avatar

Yelp
Indoor/ outdoor brewing company with live music! Clean, great beer options, and tv for sports. Great to host informal parties as they allow outside food with plenty of seating.
google avatar

Yelp
Our 1st time last night, Saturday night. Parking was easy maybe because we got there @8pm. They had live music and food "Soledad's Sopes. Loved the vibe, beer, and food. They have a great assortment of games they offer. " Understaffed" we were able to get a dirty table, I got a towel they had on counter with a bottle of disinfectant spray and cleaned my own table. No flights available; was told not available. Saw 1 group with a flight board. So where's the rest? Only one person working/ pouring. Loved the Cristobal Lager. Will be back for it.

Yelp
Cute local spot. So nice to have a brewery in my loc community. It's set up well with different activities on different nights. Different food trucks too

Ana S.

Yelp
Love Tortugo!! I have been a mug club member for years!! My favorite brewery in the South Bay. Erick goes above and beyond, he is great!!! He can multitask, from attending the bar to checking on tables, he is on it!

Douglas B.

Yelp
Great Beer ! Friendly staff. The salt & lime beer is one of the best beers I've ever had

Ozzie R.

Yelp
Met some friends here for drinks for another friend's bday on a Saturday, great atmosphere, great selection of beers, a few locals and the bartender Eric made the whole experience even better! Great customer service and he was attentive. I was the designated driver and he took great care of me and my friends. They also had a guy doing covers and taking requests, great voice! Will definitely be going back, especially during football season as they televise the games. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
I came with a group of 6 adults, a kid and a dog on a Saturday afternoon. We sat at a table under the covered patio. We ordered a couple of flights and Micheladas! We brought snacks and games with us and stayed a few hours. Quickly started to fill up with more families, kids and dogs. One of the staff members came around the tables asking if he could give your dog a treat. Super sweet! Overall chill place to hang out. Clearly family friendly in the daytime. Lots of TVs. Food available for purchase. The staff is hospitable. Micheladas and the sours here are excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to check this place out for forever. From the street, it doesn't give an indication of what it's like at all! If you pull through their driveway, there is a parking lot and the place is very inviting with murals and string lights! I went with a good sized group and a dog and there was ample seating on their little covered patio for all of us. The staff were super friendly and answered our questions and let us try a few things before deciding on a couple flights and pints. We will definitely be back to hang out or watch a game (many tvs!!).

Rachael B.

Yelp
This place is great, but the seating area is a complete echo chamber. We love coming here but unfortunately there are always multiple screaming kids and it's just too loud.
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Beer was just ok and the employees only focused on their regulars. It's good for them, but not for anyone who might consider being a regular. It was a Sunday afternoon, so I'd still give them another chance.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Good beer, nice atmosphere, was there on a Saturday evening so they even had a guy playing music. Would definitely go back. My only recommendation move the food guy over a bit so the customers don't go home smelling like their food from the smoke
google avatar

Liam V.

Yelp
Eric was the greatest beertender of all time. Fantastic conversion, friendly guy. He's here on the weekends we will be back!

Patti L.

Yelp
OMG! What a GREAT FIND!!!!! The choices of Beer are spectacular!!! Lots of inside and outside seating! They offer takeout too! It's fresh and Local Beer!!! Great prices. Manager and Staff are all super friendly . I had Key Lime Sour and 2 Michelada's . BOTH were spectacular!! They offer CRISTOBAL LAGER, SEYMORE KOLSCH, IPAS, SOURS, PORTERS, STOUTS, PALE ALE. Growlers,Globes and, Taster Glass Plus plus 5 BIG Screen TV'S inside and out! Bonus there's pop up food vendors daily. !!! Free Parking! Dog friendly!
google avatar

Rebekah B.

Yelp
The brew tender was so nice. She was super friendly and warm. Honestly this place just gives off great vibes, and to top it off they make great beer! The west coast IPA was great and I tired a sip of the red ale as well and it was also very good. This place is dog friendly which was another perk and they even gave our pup a dog treat . The lighting, the vibe, the beer, the nicely set up TVs make this place a great place to gather with friends and watch sports. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Really enjoyed the beers at this brewery. We stumbled upon this location while attending a Subie Fest. Never knew this place existed till meeting up at the brewery. It's close to the freeway in a remote area away from main streets. The parking lot is a little small but plenty of street parking. The staff was great and so was the owner. He enjoyed having us there. There are board games so if you wanna play with your friends or family definitely challenge them up. On Sunday's, the owners turtle is there so you can meet him. They host a lot of comedy events with local comedians so definitely want to check that out. There are many IPA's too try out. I liked the Isabella Belgian White, Seymour Kolsch, and the Tortugo Blonde. There are some popular IPA's including West Coast Dreamin' and Kicker Rock. We really enjoyed the flavors and taste of these beers. Aside from the beer, there are local restaurants that will deliver food to you. Just check out the board with the names and phone numbers of each place. We had pizza delivered to us and it was great! Well till next time Tortugo! We will be back for sure so see you soon!

Simon M.

Yelp
My wife and I came here for the first time 8 or 9 months ago and now come weekly. All their beer is fantastic IMO, particularly their signature Kicker Rock IPA. The Grapefruit version is even better if you like fruity IPAs. The location is kind of hidden away which can make it difficult the first time you visit, but once you know the layout it's easy and we've always been able to park in their lot. The vibe is relaxed and low-key with lots of down to earth local folks, which suits my wife and I perfectly. The prices are good compared other local options like Three Weavers or Up Shift. Bar staff have always been great to us, shout out to Jeremy and Erik for always making us feel welcome.

Yelp
Came here last night (2/16) with my girlfriend because we wanted to try the raspberry chocolate porter that we saw on yelp. To our dismay, they were out of it. However, there were other great choices to be had and we did not leave disappointed. I enjoyed the Turtugo-Nog and the Märzen the most. We spoke to a guy that comes here pretty regularly and he said that the owner brings in new batches of beer every so often to try and test out different flavors. I think it's a pretty neat thing to do, especially for an up-and-coming business. Highly recommend this place- they even have a guy serving burgers on the side if you're hungry (on Saturday night at least). Also, I'm sure they won't mind if your bring or order your own food, they seem pretty chill about all of that. Ps: shout out to the two lady bartenders for their quick and efficient service.

Yelp
This place is my new favorite local brewery! My first time everyone was so nice and welcoming. I has sobre great conversations with the locals there. Such a nice environment they've created. I love the testers shaped as turtles!!! My friend and I both got one and chose different beers and were able to taste 10 beers total. Would totally recommend! Oh best part it's pet and kid friendly!!

Yelp
Never happy to give less than 3 stars, but let's round the bases. - Location: the brewery is in a neighbor that looks to be a mix of industrial and run- down residential. The brewery is painted bright orange so it's hard to miss, although.... you will. There is a single lane entrance/exit into the parking lot behind the brewery where the only entrance is. There is street parking; which I wouldn't recommend because the neighborhood is a bit sketch and you'd be waking down a thin 10 foot alley way both ways while drivers navigate the alley beside you. *not exaggerating: incredibly dangerous especially if bringing a dog on a leash or a child in a stroller. The beer! - meh. I asked about a variety of what they had on and the beertwnder just went with the no effort question: "what do you like?" It's a good approach I'd you back it up with opinions or suggestions, but not if you just say "well, go with that then". (Note: I do always preface that it is my first visit and I asked for suggestions that the brewery is particularly proud of) Price - average for LA: all beers were roughly $7 Ambience: the layout was great; best part of the brewery. There is a large patio area with abundant shade, and the even have a bucket of little shims to fix wobbly table (the little things!). TVs on the patio for games and DOG FRIENDLY If you're in the neighborhood just check them out. They are experiencing some growing pains but might have potential.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Def my fav spot to watch the game! The food is so good as well! Can't go wrong with a Michelada and a basket of fries! The team was very welcoming to us and our 4 legged friend.
google avatar

Kristin P.

Yelp
Good beer, chill atmosphere. They have some board games as well. Didn't try the taco truck, but it smelled amazing. Street parking is easy. Would def go back!
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
I was fully prepared for this place to be too small to make reliably good beer. I got a flight and thought that if one of the five beers was good, it would have been worth it, you know? You support a local business; the people seemed nice; the place was what you want a small craft brewery to be. And so you just hope they have one good one you can have a pint of post-flight. But the beers were legitimately good. Of the five in the flight, three were great, one was okay, and one was what I'd gone in expecting. This is a great outcome! Bonus: I got a michelada. They use their own mix, and put it into a lager that they brew on lime and salt. What a combination. I'm thrilled to get to go back.
google avatar

Lauren F.

Yelp
Loved coming to this brewery! Being located in Inglewood makes it pretty easily accessible from any part of LA! Great service, delicious beer and even some TV's set up if you want to watch games here! Loved the flight of beers and the turtle shaped board it came on! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
I take my outboard motor to the mechanic next door and was pleasantly surprised to see humble true working brewery right next door. We've been about 4 times since the re-opening after the pandemic and every time it has been a pleasant enjoyable and delicious experience. I've enjoyed all my interatcions with the staff especially when Ali is behind the bar. The casual, not excessively hipster vibe is one of its best features and it shows in the diverstiy of the crowd. Family and dog friendly. The ONLY thing I knocked off a star for (should be a half star but you know) The Brats and Burgers are pretty meh, about what your drunk brother in law makes in his backyard. Then again, I am fussy about my burgers and the one I had for A LOT more money at FW in Venice was actually no better so fair is fair, the ones at Tortugo are at least not overpriced for what they are. At the end, 5 star brewery and 3 star food. It's just a know before you go.
google avatar

Monica M.

Yelp
Great brewery tucked in a little residential neighborhood. - good selection of beers and if you go on a Monday the taco truck is amazing!
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
A place to go! Good service, nice people and good choice of beer! Happy to know that this place is dogs friendly as well! Great job, guys! Will recommend and will come again!
