The first thing that struck me when I walked in was that the place had a Belgian vibe. Even though the décor is fairly modest, there was definitely a European atmosphere to it. I instantly felt at home. And that music… “Another Brick in the Wall” and “Some Kind of Wonderful” pulled me right out of that typical Brazilian sense of time and made me feel like I was on familiar ground.
The food was excellent, with one small but.
Dish: Prime Rib Suíno à Milanesa – incredibly dry. Good, but dry. It tastes like a typical Polish schabowy, but my mum makes a far better one. This rib really needed some fat and maybe a sauce.
On the other hand, the Bife Ancho was phenomenal — an absolutely perfect steak.
Starter: Gyoza Costela Assada – the best of all, the goddess of starters. Like Polish dumplings, but served completely differently and noticeably fattier. That extra richness made it the highlight of the meal. Maybe my taste buds just really appreciate fat.
Service: excellent — after taking away my empty bottle, the waiter even wiped the droplets of water left on the table. A small thing, but it made me smile.
A perfect spot, and I’m grateful I had the chance to eat there. You’re warmly invited to Poland — to my mum’s place — for proper schabowe or roasted ribs.
