Where to Eat and Drink Around Rehoboth and Dewey Beach | Eater DC

"This traditional Italian deli and market originated in Lewes with a mix of homemade products and imported ingredients. Now there are locations in Rehoboth and Ocean City, Maryland. Stop in for a full meal or grab a hero to go from the counter." - Julekha Dash

We had a great experience here! Some of the best garlic bread I’ve ever had - highly recommend! Our waitress was lovely and attentive. The homemade gnocchi was delicious! Loved that atmosphere of deli with the bar and restaurant. Comfortable seating and fair prices. Great spot for families as well!

Google
It was a great experience. The food was worth the price. Desserts are huge and phenomenal! A must do and great for dates or special occasions. Our server Emma was wonderful. First time here and will be back♡♡♡

Our first visit and definitely won't be the last. Superb food, cool atmosphere, excellent service. Danielle took great care of us and was very friendly, we had good conversation. I had a braised pork shank and gnocchi special, and my lovely bride had the house specialty chicken parm. Both were off the hook great. The pork was some of the absolute best I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a LOT. I mean, I dig the pig. This was just incredible. The chicken parm lived up to the legend in every respect, from the plate-spanning diameter to the fantastic flavor. We will be relocating to this area in the coming months, so we'll be back here often.

The sun-dried pepper is one of the best I’ve tasted. Cheesecake also very good For an Italian food afficianado, that’s high praise

Google
A dining experience you don’t want to miss. Atmosphere, service, price & menu selections are fantastic. Real Italian food & hospitality. Chicken parm incredible and can’t eat in one setting. Save room for desserts made on premises or take some home!

can you keep up with the johnsons V.

Google
I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is always amazing and fresh! For appetizer I recommend the Rollatini and the meatballs 😋 The wood fire pizza is delicious, and my favorite the gnocchi!! All of the desserts are sooo yummy 😋

Google
We ordered desserts from Touch of Italy for our wedding reception desserts! We loved them and we're so happy with our decision to order from them. We ordered a variety of items - biscotti, macaroons, mini cream puffs, eclairs, napoleon, sfogliatelle, cannolis - all of it was incredible! Our guests raved about the desserts and were thrilled to even get to take some home at the end of the night! We enjoyed them just as much the next day! The delivery to our reception venue was a huge help and really took a lot of stress out of the day for us. We ended up stopping by the restaurant the night before our reception for dinner with our family and the food was phenomenal - and generous portion sizes!

Yelp
The pizza is excellent, meatball appetizer is very tasty (I have a 100% Italian mom). We have dined at a table and sat at the bar. We prefer being at a table, the wait staff is attentive and friendly. The bartenders need to pick up the pace, very slow and when your seating at the bar.

Yelp
Always love my visits here. Excellent food and friendly service. The pastry selection is beautiful and everything is amazing. Try some of their sandwiches filled with Italian cold cuts.

Alivia S.

Yelp
If you are getting off work and decide to schedule a time to pick your food up after your shift, DONT. I placed an order for the vodka penne at 3:36pm to be done at 4:35pm because I was getting off work at 4:30pm. I arrived to the establishment at 4:36pm exactly 1 hour after placing my scheduled order to be done at 4:35pm. There isn't an option or so that I saw to add a tiny side cup of the vodka sauce. I went in and asked if I could have a small cup of the vodka sauce. The lady informed me, the wait would be 4 mins..."no problem" I replied. I preceded to wait 19 mins for the cup of sauce and then asked the lady what was taking so long and she said it was done. Meanwhile the whole time my food was sitting on the counter getting cold...food is very mid depending on the dish you're ordering. I just recommend that you dine in to get the best service. They are always PACKED. Hope they look into expanding and also putting benches in the front so it doesn't get too crowded while waiting for your food!

Yelp
I will reluctantly give this restaurant 3 stars. Reason? The food is always great. BUT, I had just ordered two " hogie" chicken parm sandwiches. I assumed they would be great. Not. I had no idea that this restaurant with all its flavorful food, could maks such a shit sandwich! I figured since everything was so good, so would the sandwiches be. NOPE. For a restaurant that puts so much effort into making their own bread, I was shocked, that they would put tasteless, breaded chicken strips on their sandwich. Something I would normally expect from mama mia's. I should've asked for "GRILLED CHICKEN PARMIGIAN". GRILLED. I took them for granted. My bad. Now I know better. Next time. GRILLED!

Yelp
Staff is quite good. However the two ladies behind the bar are now elsewhere so the bar (where we always sat) are gone elsewhere-not the same now

Yelp
Service was friendly, but inattentive (I think because we were seated outside and out of view). The outdoor seating is basically I. A parking lot, which is not ideal for the diner, even if it allows the restaurant to squeeze a few more guests in. The table bread was excellent--crusty, warm and freshly baked--as was the olive oil and herbs that accompanied it. My shrimp scampi was heavy and overcooked, leaving a rubbery texture to the shrimp. The kids liked their pizza and spaghetti well enough, but every red sauce was very similar to each other and overly salted. Doesn't live up to the Arthur Avenue hype when you've been there and know the difference.

Tom O.

Yelp
Very good food the chicken parm is huge. Friendly service. I also like the desert section and the shop to take home something for lunch the next day.

Yelp
Please get new sub rolls!!!! I used to love the food here, but it is not as good as it used to be. The sub rolls they use are as hard as cement & makes it difficult to enjoy the sandwiches. So sad because everything else is high quality. My wife & I witnessed another couple complaining about the hard sub rolls... is the owner of this fine establishment aware of this problem? I am bewildered as to how they can use these rolls. They will cut the roof of your mouth.... This place used to be in my rotation, but no longer. I never thought I would ever say those words. So sad

Michael W.

Yelp
The owners have started using the adjunct "Chef's Table" room (ostensibly intended for special events) for overflow without expanding the kitchen to support more patrons. We are regular customers and have always had a good experience, but during our most recent visit we waited for more than an hour for our food after ordering. Most restaurants would offer to comp something (a free dessert or drink) under those circumstances, but instead you have the privilege of paying for extra bread. I appreciate that the owners are trying to accommodate the population growth in the area, but the way they are approaching it is likely to turn an increasing number of customers away.

Tony F.

Yelp
Excellent meal and staff was awesome. Try and call ahead to make a reservation. Food was amazing, shrimp scampi and the garlic cheese bread were the best. Highly recommend. No way the score for the restaurant should be under 4.5

Yelp
While Touch of Italy may be one of the better Italian restaurants in the area, compared to DC or NYC there's some that could make them better. The food is good yet has a smaller selection of authentic Italian dishes. It can get very busy so make sure to book a reservation. One thing I do love is having the bakery inside the restaurant next to you when you're eating. Can take something sweet home afterwards.

Yelp
I have been a customer for many years and spent many $ in the establishment. Generally I like the restaurant and the food and atmosphere is usually good. LATELY with a large party that ordered 6+ entrées. The waitress gave us two small plates of bread...each containing 3-4 small pieces of bread. I requested more only to discover they would charge for more bread. BOO ! For bread! of course it's a new policy. Now I ordered a plate of chicken parm. Great dish! Again I wanted to share with my wife. Guess what? Sharing cost you an extra $7.00. ?? Don't skimp owners...you willloose your customers. Definitely disappointed....getting very close to finding another decent Italian place! arrivederci ?/??

Yelp
We had a party of eight for Pasta Tuesday and were graced with Emma as our server. I had the Bolognese but the chicken parmesan, shrimp scampi, gnocchi, and fedicinni Alfredo with chicken were also enjoyed at the table. Emma was very attentive and gracious.

Yelp
Worst customer service experience ever. I ordered food for my wife's 50th birthday over the phone. Small group of people, but thought it would be nice to not have to think about the food portion of the surprise. The person on the phone told me I could pick it up Saturday between 2-3pm which was perfect. She then told me my total of $264. I show up to pick up the food on Saturday and the person behind the counter said $338. I said there must be a mistake- they went to get the manager. The manager barely looked at me and was talking to the employee saying, "they totaled it wrong". Then he told me same thing and said sorry- the correct price is $338. Nothing except basically F-you pay me. If I didn't need the food for my guests and my wife's 50th birthday I would have said to keep the food, but needed it for the party. Disappointing that the manager did that in front of his employee- shining example of customer service. Wish I could give zero stars.

W W.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the food. The Ocean City location is much better. Chicken Parm couldn't even be cut with a knife it was so hard. Service was not good at all.
google avatar

Don B.

Yelp
Come to this place on Tuesdays for half priced Chicken Parm night. This dish is my favorite of any other Italian restaurant in the area. The service is very attentive to your table. The atmosphere is loud and crowded but you can hear the conversation at your table.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We had antipasto. The entrees were shrimp scampi and linguini Fra Davilo.

Ghadah S.

Yelp
We popped in close to closing time and were seated within a few minutes. Nice atmosphere and authentic Italian food - great combination!! We got some of the brick-oven quattro-fromaggi pizza, the pizza marinara and fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and all were great! Our server, Drew (spelling?), was sweet too, and provided some good recommendations. Reasonably priced too - what else can we ask for? Thank you!

Yelp
While their food is good, my issue is with their service when a specialty item (in this case, a birthday cake) is ordered. In short (maybe), I ordered a specialty cake over a week in advance of the celebration, and it hadn't been made when I arrived to pick it up on the day of the party. Excuses were offered, which may or may not have been valid, but a call could have been made so I wouldn't have to scramble at the last minute. Go for the food if you feel you must try it, but don't expect 5-star service.

Yelp
Always an amazing meal! My family enjoyed restaurant week specials and some regular menu items as well. My grandmother always gets ravioli and they are a perfect size and wonderfully al dente. We all loved the charred octopus special with beans, olives, and arugula, and the whipped ricotta special as well. Service started out very well, just got a little slow when the restaurant got busy, but we were full and happy. I always appreciate when the manager comes to check on the table and chat. My sister likes the decadent fettuccine Alfredo with crispy chicken and we all enjoyed a couple bites as well. My Ragu was one of the best things ever and I'm so glad I was able to have leftovers.

Marta O.

Yelp
Went in to buy an Italian roll to make my own sub or grinder. They are now using baguettes instead of the semonila bread. Much thinner. Can't imagine a classic Italian or a chic Parm on that bread. They partnered with the new French bakery in lews/Rehoboth. No thank you. I pass.

Ang G.

Yelp
Went in November and it was busy, but we were seated and served quickly. Santiago was so helpful and friendly. We ordered the Taliano, but it was a bit overdone. Must be popular because the people ordered it next to us and theirs looked amazing. We also got soup and salad. Everything was great overall!

Yelp
For those that have never been here, A Touch of Italy is 1/3 Italian Market/Bakery/Deli, 2/3 Italian Restaurant with fresh pizza and dishes. I have eaten in here (in all 3 locations, actually), and shopped here (again, at all 3) for fine Italian ingredients, including charcuterie, pastries, cookies, cheeses, and more. The owner is a passionate personality, who cares about every detail and who employs dedicated personnel to give great service and attention to the details that really make a difference. They always seem to have every base covered. For me, a home chef who only uses the best and highest quality ingredients in my cooking, I have never been disappointed in anything I have purchased at A Touch of Italy! Try it, you'll love it!

Yelp
Before I get into the food, I'll go into the restaurant itself. It's very warm, and welcoming, and also has a true Italian restaurant ambiance to it. Apparently, the Rehoboth restaurant is much larger than the one in Lewes. I'm going to give my review across a few areas: - Service - Quality/Taste of Food - Portion Size - and Options Service was a 7/10 - When the waitress came, she was nice and helpful, but it was a packed house when we had dinner there and there were times when we didn't see her for over 12-15 minutes. Quality/Taste of Food: 8/10 - Appetizer: Caesar Salad and Calamari: Both were very good, the calamari were much tinier that what I've seen before, but you get a good amount to share between 2-3 people. For dinner, I got the gnocchi and I added two meatballs. Those were very good, but the biggest issue (some might seem like I'm nit-picking here) is the table-side bread they provide you. If you're at an Italian restaurant you're anticipating some quality Italian bread. Our loaf was tiny and felt stale. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not, but it almost felt like it was left out overnight. For dessert, I got a nice variety of their cookies, cannoli and ecliar. All were very good, soft and fresh. The cannoli was my favorite and then second would be the ricotta cookie. All of them were delicious, but those two were my favorite. Portion Size: 7/10 - I wish I got just another half cup of gnocchi on top of what I was served. Options: 9/10 - This place has pasta, calzones, lasagna, pizza and even a salmon dish. My only heartbreak was no tiramisu, but the waitress said it should be back on the menu in a few weeks. They do have some freshly made pastries (cream puffs, eclairs, lemon cookies, ricotta cookies, cannolis) that you can order up at the front.

Yelp
First, this restaurant was highly recommended by a local friend so our expectation was high. We were seated after a short wait (we didn't have a reservation). First contact with our server, were given menus and wine list. 5 minutes later our wine requests were taken. 5 more minutes later wine arrives. 5 more minutes our order is taken (no bread or waters offered). Fast forward 25 minutes, a second server asks if our order was taken. He offers us water and bread. Our server returns 5 minutes later and blames the busser for taking our meals to the wrong table (I observed him go directly to the computer and I can only assume that's when our order was sent back to the kitchen) After a few more tables got turned over and we still didn't hadn't received our food I dropped a $20 for our wine and left hungry and disappointed. According to several other locals, TOI has gone downhill. I really wish I could have left a food critique but hey, if you never receive your food...

Carmen B.

Yelp
It is amazing the food was spectacular 10/10 I will come back it is my new favorite restaurant
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Just ourchased a small gift package of cookies (not really Italian cookies) by anyone who's ever had real Italian cookies for the low price of 36.00. Maybe kiss your customers before you screw them.

Carli B.

Yelp
I'm so bummed about this one. I've had their bakery items before and they're almost always great. We finally ordered dinner here for my birthday and it was worse than horrible. The manicotti I was so greatly looking forward to had ricotta filling that was so dry it was stuck together, everything was so incredibly cold and tasteless. thankfully I ordered an extra side of sauce, so I thought maybe this would help; but unfortunately it made no difference. Coming with three tiny manicottis, wouldn't even begin to satisfy your hunger. The Alfredo sauce itself was tasty but the portion in comparison to the price was simply insulting.
google avatar

Hemanth D.

Yelp
I don't why this place is not rated higher. Food was amazing and the service as well. We were 7 people. We were greeted as we arrived and swiftly seated. Our waitress was great. We ordered salad, pasta, garlic bread, and few other things. Except for roasted potatoes, everything was great. Salad was fresh as well. We will definitely revisit if we are in the area.
google avatar

Danielle J.

Yelp
Great dinner tonight with the family. We had a 6pm reservation and we were seated a few minutes early. Drink orders were taken quickly and we put in an order for the antipasto and eggplant rollatini. Forgot to get pics but both apps were delicious and plenty for 4 people. For dinner one had the shrimp scampi and said it was one of the best they ever had. One has the eggplant parm (half price on Tuesdays in winter) and loved it. One had the chicken parm...his go to, and also half priced on Tuesdays. HUGE portion and he has enough for another meal. I had the penne vodka. Very good. Just wish it was a little creamier. Overall great Italian meal for a great price!

Yelp
Touch of Italy was recommended to us. Very cute place, looks like a NY restaurant,but.....I'm Italian and I have to say I've never seen chicken parmigiana made with Munster cheese. We asked to substitute mozzarella for Munster. Im not from the area but I'm not a fan. Portions are large. Party of 7 and we ordered chicken parmigiana, calzone, lasagna, salmon and manicotti. Salmon was so overdone. Calzone is different from NJ/NY area, lasagna was on dry side, chicken parmigiana was good with mozzarella.

Richard O.

Yelp
We had a pizza and calzone for lunch and they were delicious!!! Service was quite efficient and friendly. The restaurant has many types of options for seating and it was very clean. We always have a wonderful time and delicious food every time we go there.

Betty L.

Yelp
Awesome food and service is excellent! During the off season the specials are great!!

John S.

Yelp
We always enjoy going to Touch of Italy, we typically have gone to the location in Rehoboth Beach and since changed and started going to the location in Lewes. We felt the quality of the food and service declined over the past year or so. However, we did go to the location in Rehoboth Beach recently, we got the charcuterie board which was very good. However, our entrees although good just weren't up to their normal high standard as they were a year or two ago. We still like it but wish management would step back and reevaluate or use secret shoppers.
google avatar

Justine D.

Yelp
The company wide policy stating that "they do not accept vertical IDs" means that even if you are in fact over 21 and using a valid government ID (say your drivers license), they won't serve you alcohol just because your state has different licensing formats. How the heck is this profitable? Guess they really don't want out of state tourists. Utterly ridiculous policy. It was my partners' 23rd birthday dinner; his license doesn't expire until 2026. Yet, the server refused service because it's vertical... didn't even take a look. Unreal

Karen D.

Yelp
The food was AWESOME.. got the Caesar with grilled salmon. Omg.. so good.. had the NY cheesecake. Also... mouth watering... Now the service from seating to waiter sucked... the waiter sweaty and always in a hurry.. as we are ordering he walks away.. the place was pretty empty and we were gonna be seated right next to a crowded table.. when we asked to move she was very flustered... still wondering why.. she was not busy.. We sat in a really cool booth in the back. Felt like we were in NY during the mob days..
google avatar

Julian W.

Yelp
Food was pretty good and the chicken parm portion was great. However the food is pricey and is only a few notches above Olive Garden. Seating at the rehoboth location is tight. Will definitely go back for more chicken parm.
google avatar

Alison C.

Yelp
This is our go to restaurant when in the area. Food is always great. Real fresh Italian food and desserts and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Dr. F.

Yelp
Ok, so I thought I'd try again so I called to order pickup on a midweek night (7/10). I waited on hold for a minute or so to be abruptly told "I can't put in any pizzas right now." No "sorry" or "Our apologies but...". I was about to ask about getting some entrees but considering my previous review I simply said thank you and buh bye (in more ways then one). What arrogant "customer service".
google avatar

Tricia G.

Yelp
We didn't feel like driving too far from our hotel, so went with TOUCH OF ITALY. I'm very happy that we did! 6:00 pm reservation - bar seating only was left, which was fine. Our bartender/ server, Kymbr, was great - cute personality , sassy, attentive. We got the meatball app - DELICIOUS! Thanks fellow Yelpers! These were up there with my 100% Italian mom's, which isn't an easy task! I had the eggplant parm, and the man, the chicken parm. This thing was HUGE! (we're taking the leftovers home to my dog!) Both versions were delicious! I skipped the pasta bc I don't eat a lot of carbs at night. If I had room I would've indulged in their cheesecake though! Another Yelper's picture looks right up my alley. Fair pricing. Lastly, I liked the music playing (mainly Sinatra) decor and artwork a lot.

Scott T.

Yelp
Food was excellent. I had the pizza and it was done off the best pizza I've had. Wife went for pasta and it was delicious as well. Only disappointment was we got the rum cake for dessert, but was more a ganache and less rum but still yummy. Will be going back for sure.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Unfortunately, the pizza's we had failed to live up to expectations. The potential is there for a great pie, but they skimp on sauce, cheese and toppings. Sloppy work. Also, I was waiting for 15 minutes for the pizzas and two sat on the counter getting cold while the third was still cooking. Will not return.

Katie M.

Yelp
We hadn't made reservations but they were able to accommodate us after just a very short wait. Portions are large and dinner was delicious. We had lasagna, chicken parm and fettuccine Alfredo w/ grilled chicken!

Chris S.

Yelp
"The best sandwich in town" the Italiano was good when it was nearly twice the current size and two thirds the current price. It's good but but a shadow of its former self. Too bad.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Its always nice to come here and enjoy good food, excellent service with a welcoming ambiance. They also have desserts that are so good!!

Yelp
Ordered a Pepperoni, mushroom & olive Four cheese pizza last night, online. Requested 655pm. Got there about 700, they hadnt even put my pizza in the oven waited about 15-20 min before it was done. fortunately they gave me a free dessert as a consolation. Slice of Ricotta cheesecake- delicious. I got home, and had some of the pizza....they put sausage on it instead of mushrooms i requested....it was tasty but SO SALTY. i dont know if it was the sauce, or the cheese, or sausage, or pepperoni, but it was almost inedible. big disaster as my previous pizza was so delicious....Not sure i'll go back.

Karol C.

Yelp
Just came from my second visit to Touch Of Italy in Rehobeth. I will say that it definitely falls short of a good Italian restaurant. What kind of Italian restaurant does not serve veal parmesan? The menu is very limited and they use muenster cheese instead of mozzarella? The antipasto is more like a flavorless charcuterie from a jar and a package missing half the elements of a genuine antipasto. Bread was not served until we asked for it but it states it's included but second portions are an additional charge. Service was very slow despite it being a very quiet Sunday afternoon. It was at least 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. When our entrees were delivered, lasagna, they were cold and had to be sent back. We waited another 10 minutes before they were brought back when there were only about 3 other tables of people in the restaurant. They did come back hot but by that time we had finishes our wine and were eager to go. The lasagna was more like a bowl of bolognaise sauce than it was cheese or noodles. Again, Muenster cheese on top? We asked for grated cheese and received one pass of the grater. We ordered eclairs to go and they are outstanding. So , bakery good, dinners and appetizers not so much . Service lacking. Also, there was a very annoying bearing on the a/c system making a racket while we ate. The table next to us was cleared and all the unused bread was piled neatly together. Maybe reserving? Table was cleared and reset, then another person came and placed menus and wine list on the table. But no one picked up the lemon slice, the sweet and low packet or dirty paper napkin that were on the floor. Hmmm? We also noticed that someone making pizza out in the open had a full long beard with no net on. Not exactly appetizing. It is not really a Touch of Italy. More like a Touch of Whatever we can get away with. The bill was about $115 and $140 with tip. Not cheap for a poor representation of Italian food and slow service. Twice is enough. I will do bakery take out. one half star!

Christian R.

Yelp
the service was painfully and unacceptably slow. our pizza was slow on being made and when it finally was made it sat under the heat lamp for almost 10 minutes. when our ravioli finally came out, it showed signs of also sitting under a heatlamp. dried out in parts. the bartender was friendly and tried to help. usually the food is good, but not so much this evening.

Yelp
A favorite for us here in RB. I like the pizzas and my wife always goes for the pasta. Service never disappoints and the environment is casual and relaxed.
