We were out of pasta and I wanted pasta.
I wanted to go to Olive Garden, but my companion hates the chain and instead looked up local Italian spots. Tour of Italy Italian Kitchen popped up and off we went.
We arrived around 20 minutes or so after opening. It seems that they weren't fully set up yet, at the very least in the kitchen as the food took a bit to arrive to our table.
They started us off with complimentary garlic rolls. They were massive and weren't bad, but I think a marinara sauce or something along those lines would've made them tastier.
As I wanted pasta, I chose the stuffed meat shells. This came with a salad and so I opted for their balsamic vinaigrette. Be aware that they have at least five dressings. They definitely have a lot to choose from.
The salad was well, salad. It's hard to mess this up. At the same time, there was nothing special about it. At this point in the meal, I already felt pretty meh, but the cherry on the top were the stuffed meat shells.
When I tell you that I felt I overpaid for this meal, I am not even kidding. The stuffed meat shells were fine, plain even, at the very least the meat inside the shells. I kept thinking I should have gone grocery shopping and made this at home myself. My companion ordered a pizza and felt very much the same.
I had debated getting a cannoli, but given the bland meal, I chose not to. I paid and we left, and well, I had no qualms telling my companion that we should've gone to Olive Garden instead. He may not be a fan, but at the very least you know what you are getting with them. I am here scratching my head as to how this restaurant has such great reviews. The food lacks flavor and the service is average at best.
