The entire team at Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop is exceptional. Having a team with such excellent customer service is a rarity these days. I went to the Harmony Ridge location (day rental location) on a Sunday last March, and someone went out of their way to review all the options/models for sale online. When I actually went to the store, I knew what I wanted and they helped me customize everything~ I think I ended up working with about 4 different folks when all was said and done. Then I broke my foot and hadn't ridden in 7 months. I had to call them last week to figure out (in the dark) how to turn on the bike! Today I went by to learn how to inflate my tires and reset the maintenance schedule. You know when surveys ask you if you think "They care about you as a customer?" Tour Of Nevada City Bicycle Shop does care about me as a customer, and I am grateful to the team.

This place is great! They are very nice people and much faster than other bike shops we have been to. We drive 45 minutes to go to them because they always take such good care of us.

My older parents purchased 2 children's bikes online to donate for Christmas. They arrived unassembled and my father did his best to put them together. When I picked them up to take over for donation, I noticed they both needed further tuning to really be gift ready. I called Tour of Nevada City to see if they could squeeze in both bikes in 24 hours. Not only did they do the job in 1 day, but they graciously donated their time and didn't charge me anything. Amazing people giving back to their community. I encourage everyone to shop local and give them your business.

Nice vibe. I just needed new pedals because mine fell apart visiting their trail system. Good enough selection, some fun colors. Super nice staff. Offered to throw them on as I was walking out. Really enjoyed the experience. Thank you

I had a really awesome experience here thanks to Joe and Duane. I couldn't find the bike I wanted in my local area (bay). I just happened across a Facebook marketplace add with the exact bike I was looking for for at an amazing price!! Not only did I get the bike, but I got a really a great fit from Duane including installing a crankset, BB, and seat I already had for the bike. I plan to make the trip back out to get my girlfriend a bike as soon as some more come in stock. Thanks so much for everything! You guys really made a lasting impression on me of what a bike shop is supposed to be like!! Thanks Duane!! Thanks Joe!!

They really helped us out! My son (9 years old) wants to get into mountain biking (we have so many great trails behind our home and in Nevada county) but I do not know anything about mountain biking. We brought in a pretty subpar bike that was given to us in the hopes of fixing it up a bit. And they told us that it would prob cost more than it was worth and instead offered a trade in for a really AWESOME! bike for my son. When they brought it out we were really wowed, and the cool thing is, is that the guys there seemed genuinely happy on doing us such a great trade in. They also took the time to get my son the right helmet and looked for one I could afford. Mateo and Dylan (sorry if I misspelled your names) were truly helpful and seemed to really want to get kids on bikes. My son says, "they were the best!" He is SUPER STOKED on his new bike :D

I have an older road bike that I wanted tuned up for my Ironman and the guys at tour of Nevada city bike shop were so knowledgeable and helpful. They took a lot of time to walk me through changing a flat quickly on race day and helped me with adjustments to my bike. They also had everything that I needed (extra water cages, tools, fuel holders). I highly recommend! They were able to help quite a few people with mountain and e bikes as well. Phenomenal customer service

UPDATE The owner is so awesome, he immediately reached out to me the next morning and went above & beyond to make it right. He immediately had my bike fixed that morning and I finally have it back. It's ppl like that that bring successful outcomes to any situation. I'd also like to thank Mateo for being so friendly & also for the detailed work, I wish he'd been taking care of the issue from the get-go instead of the "other guy" ‍. My crank just fell off in front of their outpost shop up at Scott's Flat. Not only are they holding on to the bike to fix for me, but the mechanic gave me a ride home and some sweet sounding recommendations for riding around my house. These guys are legit. Just earned themselves a customer for life

My cousin, Ronnie Miller, co-founded this place back in the early 80s. I stop in every time I'm in town, and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. A bicyclist's bicycle shop, for sure.

I have been using Tour of Nevada city for about 5 years now as my go to spot for bike repairs and the purchase of a new Specialized Turbo Levo at a great price. Aaron and Mateo are awesome mechanics and are always happy to help me with any problems I may be having with my bikes. My overall experience with TONC has been nothing short of amazing and would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of bike repairs or the purchase of a new bike , riding gear , or parts !

Giving Tour of Nevada City a shout out for above and beyond customer service. My son is on the MTB team and we have a lot of bikes (and a rack) that are constantly needing attention. TONC always tries to get us in (and out!) as quickly as possible so that my son can have a bike in good working condition for practices and races. They have even lent spare parts (and even a rack!) when we have gotten stuck with a part on order. They have saved us MANY times. I can't say enough about their fast, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service.

We rented e-mountain bikes for our family of 4 to have an adventure while visiting Nevada City over the holidays. Their rental prices were reasonable, and service was top-notch. They recommended a route for all of us to take that was reasonably family friendly, and helped us get it loaded into my phone to make it easy to follow. Mom and daughter didn't love the whole mountain bike experience as much, but I loved it so much I went back the next day for a solo ride. They hooked me up with some amazing trails with a lot more challenge and I had an absolutely blast. They did a great job addressing our different and specific needs for each day we visited, and I couldn'e be happier with the experience.

They really are an excellent bike shop. Repairs, equipment, advice. They have it all. Lots of different types too. They have skilled techs for road, mountain and now even e-bikes. They've got pretty much everything you need and their prices for equipment is even cheaper than online. You can't beat their repairs. From fixing a flat, tune-ups or replacing cables. Their prices are reasonable and quicker than I expected. If you are visiting check them out.

This is a great shop and everybody is so helpful! They fix up my kids' bikes and flats super fast and super cheap. They gave me a great deal on my 7 year olds bike last year too.

I've had a 2017 stumpjumper for years, still do. One of the reasons I got a '23 stump evo was this shop. It's definitely the nicest bike I've ever owned. And I feel confident it's in good hands here. (Having a local shop that sells and regularly works on specialized is a must since they can be snooty with parts and work etc.) Mateo has been the main mechanic and person I've interacted with and he is always helpful and pleasant and knowledgeable. I wish I had a better memory for names here and could also mention others, but the short version is, literally everyone I've dealt with calls me back, goes the extra mile, and assures whatever repair or upgrade I'm adding fits me well. This is one of the best LBSs and I feel lucky to have such a great shop here in town.

I arrived at the Tour of Nevada City bike shop at 4:30 today, not knowing what to expect in servicing 2 older mountain bikes. I was warmly welcomed by Lauren, who came out to my car and helped me unload the bikes from my car's bike rack and bring them in. Lauren assessed my needs as she had Austin begin checking my 4 tires. Within 40 minutes, Lauren and Austin completed meeting and exceeding my expectations, rang up the transaction that was very reasonable, and helped me load the 2 bikes safely onto my car. I am so happy that I chose Tour of Nevada City and highly recommend this great shop to everyone who appreciates great service. Thank you Lauren and Austin, plus their management that allows employees to give great customer service!

After my Walmart bike went out after a decade of great fun I realized I was an adult now who could afford something nicer. I tried all the bike shops I could but Covid had everyone snatching them up. This shop had a fair selection and I saw a beautiful specialized rockhopper expert. I figured it would be worth the investment. Bought it back in Fall 2020. Actual review starts here: So I had my tires changed to tubeless when I bought a bike here and the tires did not seal properly. They sealed them again for free since it didn't work the first time. After a few rides my back derailer wasn't switching gears well so they did 1 free tune up. So why not 5 stars? Well you see, 5 stars is perfection. And the people here are great but I do have some suggestions. Since my review is so specific and the workers/owner may read this, I would like to talk to them here specifically. You guys are doing a great job! I appreciate all the help. I don't know his name but the light brown haired guy who occasionally does register and greets people who sold me my bike (he knows who I am). He needs a raise. 5 stars to him. So conclusion why I'm leaving 4 stars. To the new owner, I met you on the trail the day you said you were buying the place. It was a neat experience. You've been helpful each time I come in but please, feel free to treat me like a friend, get to know me a bit, I don't bite. I want to come back and keep buying more stuff. Maybe not every time, but I'll be buying more as time goes on. I want to feel at home when I come in so don't be afraid to have a little chat or something. I'd love that. Seems kinda like a weird review statement but my point is to just be willing to make more connections with your customers. Make us feel welcome. Just like a few of the 1 star reviews said: some people feel like they were ignored by customers who crank out the money and have fancy bikes. Not all of us lower middle class folk can afford a $10000 bike but we have just as much passion as the fancy riders. Lift our spirits and we will be more willing to make the decision to spend more on biking rather than giving a bit of a cold shoulder when we become indecisive. Well that about sums it up. My girlfriend and I were on vacation and rented two bikes from the shop. This was our first time going mountain biking, so we didn't really know what we were getting our selfs into. Luckily Mateo and everyone else in the shop went above and beyond to make this a great experience. They had helmets ready for us, a car bike rack, and pointed us in the right direction of great trails for beginners. I would highly recommend renting a bike from this shop.

I didn't realize the place was under new ownership but it definitely shows. My go to guy has been Joe and he is tremendous in the arena of customer service. You feel like Norm when you walk into this place. I got a flat on my ride through town today and he offered to send someone to get me going again. I explained to my daughter, this is what happens when you shop local, support your community and keep our dollars to people who know your name. No big box store would ever give us 10% of the support and joy we get from voting our dollars right here in town at Tour...

Wow! This place is amazing! We walked in, and they immediately fixed my son's bike in minutes. They even added some air to his tires, and we were ready to go. Definitely went above and beyond.... Friendly, professional and so quick! I totally recommend these guys!

They were busy, but when it was our turn we received excellent customer service and advice for our bike purchases. We will make the hour+ drive there for our needs in the future. Great friendly employees and they even delivered our bikes to us! Highly recommend this place!

We received such great service at Tour of Nevada! We were visiting Nevada City on vacation and wanted to rent mountain bikes to try out some of the great trails in the area. Everyone was so helpful and friendly, we felt so welcomed as out-of-towners. In addition to the bikes, they also let us borrow a hitch rack which was super convenient to have! They also gave us recommendations for great beginner trails. I would absolutely recommend them to anybody looking to rent bikes in the area!! Stopped by the shop during a father-daughter mountain bike trip to Nevada City. Picked up a souvenir water bottle and had a friendly chat with Joe about bikes and burritos. Seems like a great shop!

Yesterday I broke my chain on a morning ride. Unable to get it fixed on the trail I hiked back up to car, drove to Tour, arriving about 10:25 AM, but they don't open until 11:00 on Sundays. I waited 10 minutes before the owners saw me waiting in front of the store. They opened early for me, replaced my chain and had me back on the road before 11 AM. They were super friendly, didnt gouge me on price and the drive train worked perfectly. I thought my day was over, but Tour of Nevada City saved the day. Cheers and Thanks. I'll be back. Matt

$60 to put new tires on and oil the chain, expensive! I thought I was paying for a tune up? My brakes still sound terrible cuz they didn't fix the scraping noise. I know how to work on my bike but just didn't have the time so that's why I took it in. I ended up having to fix the brakes myself anyway. ‍

I've taken both my road bike and MTB in to the shop for both maintenance and service. Each time I am grateful for what they do, the attention they give and overall home town feel of the shop. Also, staff is very knowledgeable about trails in the local area. I actually drive a decent distance to this so versus the one closer to my house for all the above reasons.

Walk in to buy some accessories for my daughte for the holidays. Was called lame by the people in the shop. Will never return

Could not have asked for a better experience! Joe really hooked me up! I have a Stumpjumper from the 90's that needed some parts replaced that are difficult to come by. Not only did he find everything I needed, but at a great price as well. Just went on a ride and it rode like it did when it was new. Joe and everyone else I've dealt with at the shop are incredibly knowledgeable. They have the mindset to guide you down the best path to get your bike working at its highest level.

Awesome people. Highly knowledgeable and cool. Set me up quickly even though they had a tight schedule just to help accommodate my brief trip. I don't even live in the area anymore but still manage to take my bike issues here when I can.

Outstanding service and more than reasonable prices. Twice now I've been at Scots flat and broke my bike and both times they had me in and out of the shop within 15 minutes.

Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable bike shop! It's obvious they want their customers happy and they will go the distance to make it happen. Duane went above and beyond to make sure I had a perfect fit on both my bikes (old/new). Joe was willing to work with me through a variety of challenges I brought to the table. Super family friendly! On my first visit I was very overwhelmed as my twin 5-year-olds decided they didn't have working ears. Everyone in the shop was chill and didn't mind their energy, which as every parent knows, means everything. I live in truckee, but I would love the opportunity to do business with this shop again.

This is an efficient and extremely helpful bike shop. They have a extensive inventory for all you hard core bike dudes and bikes for the kids..I think Santa probably keeps a few beautiful bikes here to look at...and tons of accessories for one and all..great place!

Shout out to Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop for saving the day again! My son took his bike in Wednesday evening and asked them to replace his entire drivetrain and (pretty please) have it back to him before the Saturday morning ride. They got the parts in today and told him that they would stay late if they had to, to make sure that it was available for him to ride tomorrow. He just picked it up and he is thrilled with the work they did and the great discount they gave him for being on the NU MTB team.

I went in here to get a flat tire fixed on my lunch break and they were incredibly friendly and helpful. In addition to fixing my tire they, gave the bike a quick check up and made some minor adjustments for my height. After all that I got out for only $10 and in about 30 minutes. Will definitely be going here for all my bike needs.

I have always appreciated nice legs. Without question, the best stems of all are attached to bicyclists. Having an innate predilection toward this particular appreciation, I was blessed to come-of-age in a hilly town that offered an annual world-class summertime bike race. That event was always sponsored, in part, by the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop. The shop offers pro and pro quality bike sales and service, clothing, accessories and (most importantly) experience. The new owners (Duane and Connie Strawser -- both have great legs, fyi) are riders and central figures in the cycling community that proliferates in Nevada County. For the visiting out-of-towner, bikes are available for renting -- and riding events are scheduled nearly every weather-permitting day. WOW. After my second extraordinary experience at Tour of NC, I just had to write this review. The first time I went in there, it was in hopes that they'd fix my beach cruiser, and for a reasonable price. Not only was Casey super friendly, but they actually wound up charging me UNDER what the estimate was. On my second visit, I arrived some 30 minutes before they opened, not knowing they didn't open 'til 10. Not only did Duane (the super friendly owner) let me in early, but he took amazing care of me, explaining things in a way that was easy for me (a layperson) to understand. He and his kind wife made sage recommendations, got my repair done quickly, and had me on my way pronto. I'll be a customer for life. Bravo, Tour of Nevada City!

This shop has the feel of a true local bike shop. Owners were super friendly and got my son set up on a bike rental. They made sure he had extra tubes and offered to make arrangements if we were running late to return the bike. I highly recommend this bike shop to anyone in the area.

The Tour of Nevada City Bike shop is great! I've bought 3 bikes there and always go there for tune-ups, bike accessories and clothing. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful!

Hard to imagine a bike shop more customer-friendly than this place. I brought in a bike I bought on-line. I wanted them to examine it thoroughly, tell me whether I should return it (I had 30 days) and make it road-worthy. Bike was good, needed 2 minor parts. The owner then spent almost an hour fitting me to the bike--no charge, I suppose since I'd spent money on the work, helmet etc. I've been in twice before with an old bike that wouldn't shift properly, had squeaky brakes; they gave it an immediate once-over, got things working pretty easily, again no charge. I felt like a valued customer, despite not having bought my bikes there. I'll be spending a lot of money here as I continue to ride more with my "new" bike, which I love almost as much as I do these folks.

This is the place to go.... Duane and Connie are so nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They are involved in the community, and support many local causes. Not to mention they have great inventory and products, and competitive prices. Definitely nice to have a one stop shop in our community.

If they smell money they're all smiles. Otherwise arrogant and rude is the attitude of the day.

I have been going to this bike shop exclusively for 25 years. I have not even set foot in another bike shop unless traveling out of town. Why would I? Great service, extremely knowledgeable staff, all dedicated cyclists of one form or another. If there is ever a problem with their work they fix it with a smile at no charge. They usually have whatever I want in stock, too.

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff and owners. I just recently purchased a new mountain bike here and was very impressed with the level of service. I should also mention that after shopping around quite a bit I found their pricing to be very competitive against much larger stores in the greater Roseville area.

When in Nevada City area, this is the best bike shop around. They'll have what you need for both mountain biking or road riding. Check with them and you might be able to catch a strenuous group ride in the summer, or get maps, rent a bike and find your own way.

This is a full-service bike shop. The owners are hands-on, and good citizens of the community. I recommend this place without reservation.
