Tous Les Jours Review - Koreatown - New York - The Infatuation

"Most items at Tous Les Jour - donuts, baguettes, pastries - seem like things you could get at any bakery in the city. Even the name sounds like a neighborhood spot where you would go for your morning coffee and blueberry muffin. But this place serves French items infused with Korean and Japanese flavors, like milk cream baguettes and donuts filled with red-bean paste. The back of the bright space has a bunch of two-tops and stays open till midnight, so keep it in mind for a dessert stop after dinner." - Matt Tervooren

Really, really, great bakery! It’s definitely worth a stop! …and the coffee was really great too! So good! First timers: 1. Get there 2. Grab a tray and tongs 3. Fill up tray with the delights you want to try 4. Take tray to counter and check out. You can eat there, and they will wrap the rest up for you, or just get it all to go! My goodness I love this place!

Google
I really liked it, some things were a little dry. Me and my friends came around 6 o’clock and the two cashiers at the front were kind of rude and stand offish. I really liked the ham and cheese sandwich, had really good bread! It’s a cute place too, and I love that it’s super simple to grab your own things! Had we came earlier in the day I’m sure it would’ve been better pastry choices and maybe different and nicer staff. I wouldn’t recommend the smoothies, super plain/no flavor.

Google
This place is an absolute gem. I would drive absolute back to Missouri just to eat here. The croissants are so flaky and baked to perfection. There is also options of things that you’ve probably never tried, which is so much fun but it’s all delicious. Everything is absolutely delicious.

Google
Do you have a sweet tooth or a craving for French pastries? I do. Tous les Jours....I mean everyday! What a fantastic bakery. Everything was fresh (it tasted and looked right out of the oven). I highly recommend the Croissant (cwaaassaaaannn), Macaroons, cakes, pain au chocolat, crookie (cwaaassaaaannn cookie 🤯), chocolate avalanche....who am I kidding, it was all tasty. The service was great as well. The only thing is, seating. It's limited. Other than that, it was all fantastic! Highly recommend this place to satisfy your French baked goods cravings.

Google
The Chocolate Cloud cake we got for kids birthday was awesome. The other bakery items on the display looked esthetically tempting. Certainly this is an expensive place but could be tried on special occasions.

There are a lot of unique desserts and pastries here that you wouldn't normally find in your everyday average grocery store. Grab a few to have with coffee and a friend or you can get a sandwich and have lunch as well. It is a neat place to check out if you are visiting.

Google
Best bakery in Kansas City and probably US, amazing freshly baked bread with good prices and friendly staff, I literally drive 2 hours every time of how good it is Honey cheese pancakes are my #1, and the Nutella stuffed croissant is amazing too

Google
First time here. Didn’t really know what to expect, but saw it was busy so we gave it a try. We tried a little bit of everything. We really liked the fruit filled pastries and the strawberry and whipped cream filled pastries.

Yelp
We went on a weekend quest to find top notch bakeries in the Johnson County area. We found Tous Les Jours online and made it our first stop. A tight space, but the flow was good. The place was bustling when we arrived around 11:30 am on a Saturday. We selected several pastries which have been delectable. As we were out, we decided to split a Croque Monsieur. This is a delightfully delicious sandwich. Try one! They were able to move the lines through fairly quickly. We had a small disappointment when we asked if they could cut the Croque Monsieur in half. She said they weren't set up to do that. What? A small item, but didn't feel the response was customer focused. We'll be back for more deliciousnesses!

Yelp
This place is so cute and quiet. The music is great and I recommend it for quiet projects like journaling and studying. The pastry's are delicious. My boyfriend and I came expecting to get a small appetizer, but we ending up eating so much we had lunch here. The kimchi croquette, and the taro cream bread were the best. Their cakes are really expensive, so we didn't try them. $8.50 for a small square of orange cake is outrageous, but I hear good things. The service was average. It's a mostly self serve cafe so there's not much service you need. The website says they have matcha but at this location they don't. It's unfortunate because I love matcha, and anything green, but they have other drinks.

Yelp
The place was nice, quiet and clean. They staff was helpful the guy there answered all of my questions being it was my very first time. They had a variety of desserts etc to choose from. They had coffee options also. The only thing I did not like was that a lot of items were gone. So I would assume this is one of those business where they bake at the beginning and put everything out and once it is gone than that is it. Also, my children loved the items they were we extremely satisfied. However , I like my pastries and baked goods warm. So, I would suggest that if you want to choose from all item or want your items warm go earlier during the day. Other than that everything was nice!

Yelp
Love this place. I love the decor, I love the feeling when you walk in, wish Kansas City had more places like this. Fresh pastries being made alllll the time around the clock. I came in around 2 o clock on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed! This place has been a hidden secret for me because I have driven past this area on the front side but never knew this was on the backside of this strip mall on metcalf. The macaroons that I picked out were raspberry, café espresso and also salted caramel. The salted caramel macaroons were delicious and I highly recommend. They have such a light soft taste, but packed with flavor. The pastries were light, flaky, and all had their own individual flavor. Everything is made fresh here and they gained a life long customer. I've told all my friends about it. I highly recommend and I will be back!

Yelp
This little place was so cute. I went with my friends and we loved our items! We all shared the items pictured below! I think we all decided that the croissant was the best. It was warm, the whipped cream was delicious & the strawberries were fresh! The Vanilla Cream doughnut was next & although we liked the doughnut, the cream tasted like a thick pudding & we could have cared less for that. The blueberry muffin was not warm or fresh.. so we did not care for it as well. My tip is to grab the items that come out super fresh. It was not until we sat down that they started to refill the cases up! All in all, this place was so cute & such a vibe. I will Come back to try more!

Yelp
This is one of the best bakeries around Kansas and their cakes are out of the world. They're extremely delicious and decorated precisely. It is so technically made that you can't really find any flaws. Some of our best cakes are green tea matcha cake and tiramisu. Although they can take custom order but otherwise it's all first come first serve. They usually have 5-10 cakes always to pick from and you can't go wrong with anything with them. Dont forget that they're not only a cake shop! They have fresh baked goods like breads, Korean rolls, sweet and savory ones, cookies, macaroons and boba tea. The only thing that I'd like to ask is that the customer service folks can be a little more patient and smile .

Yelp
We arrived as they were opening and everything was fresh and delicious. Their coffee doesn't taste burnt and the staff is helpful and friendly. Perfect spot for a morning after date.

Yelp
We tried Tous Les Jours for the first time last weekend! What a gem! We arrived about an hour before close on Saturday night, so much of the early-day food was gone. That said, we still had a solid selection of around 25 different foods and pastries! Some savory, some sweet...all VERY delectable-looking! The place is tucked away a little, so it might be difficult to find unless you're looking for it. Once you're there, you'll be treated to a nice, clean dining room in which to enjoy your pastries and coffee/espresso! I ordered a sweet treat and a cappuccino. Upon paying, we walked away with our food, but I was told they would call me back to the counter for the cappuccino. After about ten minutes had passed with no "call"...I wandered back up to the counter to find out what happened to my caffeine. The attendant grabbed a cup from the other side of the counter and handed it to me. So, either I missed the call, or it never came...but, either way, I lost out on a warm cappuccino...which was a bummer. The food my wife and I ordered was very good! Not the outright BEST pastry I've ever had, but quite solid, and we'd definitely go back for French-style pastry and dessert! Overall, I would say the service we received was bit "tired". The smiles were long gone, I couldn't really understand most of the mumbles coming from the other side of the counter, and you could tell it had been a long day. Driven by the charm of the place and the food, we had a good enough first experience here to come back and give the service another try! Food = 4/5 Facility = 3/5 Service = 1/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 3/5

Yelp
Full disclosure: I was gifted a couple of doughnuts from a family member who insisted that I simply must try of this bakery. I can't comment on the service or ambiance since I haven't really been there. I'm not entirely sure what type of donut this was but I can say that it was really tasty. The outside was lightly sugared. The inside was light and fluffy. The filling was really creamy and had a nice vanilla flavor. The presentation is also really pretty compared to other cream filled donuts. Just based on the donut I would definitely go and check out what they have.
google avatar

Kalana M.

Yelp
cute hidden away bakery! everyone seemed very comfortable inside, lots of bakery items to choose from! i got an assortment of 6 macarons they were all really good...especially the rose & birthday cake ones!

Ilyasov U.

Yelp
I've been to a number of their locations across country and coffee never tastes this bad. Asked for a vanilla oat and they gave me slightly flavored oatmilk with no hint of coffee flavor or vanilla. The color is off by a few shades. I think for this particular location, it's best to stick just to their food items.

Yelp
I recently visited Tous Les Jours and while the bakery items were good, my overall experience was marred by disappointing customer service. The staff was notably rude and unfriendly. Moreover, the subpar packaging resulted in delicate chocolate pastries being ruined, with chocolate smeared all over the plastic bag - it made it so hard to eat. The limited seating space also led to overcrowding. Sadly, due to these issues, I don't plan to revisit anytime soon as the overall experience didn't meet expectations.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a good idea to leave your diet at the door. I recommend picking something familiar and then also choosing something you've never tried. This time I had a cream cheese pastry and also chose a red bean bun. Like most times the new-to-me red bean bun won! The front end staff is friendly and the glimpses you get from the kitchen show some hardworking artisans. I love how bright and happy this place is, it never fails to improve my mood and my day.
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
Tous Les Jours is a little bit hidden when you come off Metcalf. It is on the backside of the large Furniture Deals store. Don't give up if you don't see it right away... it's totally worth it! The fresh bakery options are endless and you can fill a tray with the goods you'd like. Prices have not gotten outrageous for breakfast and coffee like many other spots. Cozy vibes inside and options for everyone in your family -- big fan!
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
"Every day" is pretty good. It's seems like a chain place with canned recipes. I presume they bake everything there and mix the dough but it all seemed a bit prefabricated to me. Nothing really blew me away. A lot of choices and a lot of pastries.
google avatar

Lizzy P.

Yelp
Doesn't disappoint! Can feel a bit on the pricey side but well worth it. So hard to find good Asian bakery items and they always have high quality, amazing tasting options. The kids love them too.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
One of my favorite bakeries. Their cakes are my favorite. They're light and fluffy without an overwhelming sweetness.
google avatar

Sydney D.

Yelp
Review strictly reflects the macarons. I picked up a couple boxes of macarons for my Italian grandmother who is a die hard macaron fan. She said they were awesome! I felt these macarons were nicely priced at $2 each. Not sure if they make them in house or not, but the flavor selection was nice, and they were really pretty. Will be back to try some of their pastries. Hopefully you are able to zoom in on the photos to see the array of flavors that were being offered.

Yelp
Ok I've been waiting to make this review because I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt because I'm tryin to not compare it to my favorite Chinese bakery off of Fowler ave in Tampa called sweet buns. But this place is still "pretty good". It doesn't have that many options but it does have the hot dog pastries that are my favorite and make me jump up and down. Taste wise... first off... they aren't going to be as sweet as an American bakery so remember that-however this Asian bakery lacks some of the flavors it needs to have. For instance the fruit pastries were a little bland and the lemon pastries I could barely taste the tartness. But holy cow presentation is up to standard and they are lovely to look at. Will I be back? Yeah because any pastry with a hot dog has me hooked.

Yelp
Coming from Texas where there are multiple Tous Les Jours, I was excited to see that KC also had one. This Tous Les Jours is a bit smaller than other ones I've visited, with a slightly smaller pastry selection, and an adequately sized seating area. They did have the typical pastries and desserts, like the milk breads and various cakes/slices that you can order at the counter. They also have drinks you can order, but I got a vanilla bean donut and a yuzu citrus pie for around $7, which was a bit pricier than I was expecting. Pastries themselves were quite good. The donut was fresh, vanilla bean flavor clearly came through, the citrus pie was nice and flaky, and the yuzu flavor was a good touch. I would say that this Tous Les Jours comes almost up to par with other Tous Les Jours, and I would definitely return!

Yelp
I love coming here for birthday cakes. Even though they are a bit expensive, I still buy them for all my family's birthday celebrations. I am a regular customer and I always recommend this place to my friends and family..... However, recently I've had some really bad experiences with their customer service. It has made me decide not to go back to this place anymore. When you sell something, it's important to make your customers feel welcome. As a customer, when I have questions or need help, I expect the employees to assist me. Unfortunately, during my last few visits, I didn't get my questions answered. Instead, I received weird stares and was told to figure things out on my own. This made me feel uncomfortable and frustrated, but because i am always one to be very patient and quiet, i just ignore it. On one occasion, I bought a cake and realized that the cashier girl had packed the wrong one. I went back to the shop and politely asked to exchange it for the one I wanted, and the cashier girl was just plain rude to me. She didn't show any understanding or willingness to help. She told me it's the one I wanted when i clearly went back and said it's not. This problem can easily be solved with an apology and switching it to the one I wanted. This kind of behavior is not acceptable, especially when I am spending my hard-earned money on a 8inch cake that cost over 40 dollars I see that many people have also experienced bad customer service here. It seems like the owner is not taking any action to address this issue. It's disappointing to see that they are not training their staffs properly. If they continue to treat customers rudely, they will lose business from people like me who value good service. I will not recommend this place anymore to anyone. It's a shame because the bakeries here are delicious, but the poor customer service ruins the overall experience. I believe that if the owner doesn't take action to improve their staff's behavior, they will continue to lose customers. I will take my business elsewhere, where I am treated with respect and kindness.

Yelp
My student brought me a strawberry crème filled croissant for teachers appreciation day. It was AMAZING!! I totally forgot to take a picture but I sent videos to my friends on snap and it was seriously so picturesque and amazing! It tasted so fresh and light. What a fun treat!
google avatar

Yelp
I went in twice over a several day period as we went later in the day and there were not a lot of pastries left. I tried about 6 different pastries and a few macaroons. While all were fresh, several of them did not have much flavor. The cream in most of them seemed to not have enough vanilla or that burst of flavor it needed. The fruit was fresh on all of the pastries that had it. I stayed towards more of the pastries and less of the cakes or breads. I did like the idea that they had prepackaged items for grab and go if you wanted something that could be thrown in a bag and travel well. The self-serve feature was nice as I could walk around the cases and determine what I wanted with no rush. I do wish they had a schedule of what they put out as I was told its random throughout the day and each day can vary.
google avatar

Chloe G.

Yelp
cute little bakery chain. many delicious pastries, baked goods, and bakery items. cakes and teas and coffees are available, as well as some canned beverages. you should try the vanilla cream filled donuts, the soft strawberry bread, and the yuzu pastry. and whatever else suits your fancy! everything is really good here. i'd like to try everything someday. you can serve yourself the pastries on a tray using the tongs, then go up to the counter to buy the items. they will bag or box it for you when you pay. they have a stylish seating area, and utensils, napkins, and water cups to use.
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
This place is total vibes 100% of the time. The only bummer is when something you love is sold out but even then it only goes to show how incredibly delicious their goods are! The textures are always on point, light as air pastry, sweet and savory fillings full of flavor and always something new to try. Their sealed goodies are just as good as the fresh and we have never been disappointed with our visits!
google avatar

Lily C.

Yelp
SO GOOD!!!! I love this place so much and I even got A free calendar! I also got A matcha cake for my birthday and it was super good! I always go here for the red bean buns, the service is very quick and it takes almost no time for them to serve me! It's such A cozy little cafe and it's close to A cute gift shop and A place for lunch!
google avatar

Dorothy G.

Yelp
Had a variety of pastry options, and the service was fast! The place also had a good amount of seating options despite how small the space was.
google avatar

Jen F.

Yelp
It is so so so so so great and fun and delicious! Their variety is overwhelmingly broad whether you are some gals getting coffee and treats, a dad grabbing breakfast for the WHOLE FAMILY or you want to WOW someone at a party .. or make a simple dinner feel like a party! Their delicate light and beautiful pastries, hearty savory hand sized meals or super beautiful petit fours are all pleasing to the hungry eye!! Go here. Take your time. Buy 20 things or two things and you'll leave smiling, either way!
google avatar

Soudary K.

Yelp
Tous Les Jours is Korean own, French inspired pastries, coffee and tea shop. They used to have Boba but the person at the counter told me that they stop serving it after corvid. I haven't been in for a while. They now only serve tea and coffee. Now only serve tea and coffee. So, I opted for an ice mocha latte coffee instead with pastry. There are quite a few selections of pastries. All are very goo.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a big fan of this bakery! It's a usually super crowded and if you don't come early all the really good stuff will be gone. You have to serve yourself as soon as you get in, i recommend you take a look around before getting in line so you know what you're going for! I like all of the things here, so if you're looking for great pastries, look no further! I'm a fan of the chocolate croissants, as well as the caramel apple pie. They also serve coffee and tea which goes well with the sweets that you'll get.

Stephen B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our experience and the pastries at Tous Les Jours. We came in late Sat morning (was quite busy) and I expected there to be slim pickings. To my delight they were actively restocking with fresh pastries from the back as we loaded up our tray. Most every "classic"pastries you could ask for, and then some excellent savory items to enjoy as well. Also a very good (and wonderfully hot) Americano.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
As a loyal customer of Tous les Jours, I cannot speak highly enough of this French Asian bakery. From their mouth-watering pastries and cakes to their wide selection of savory and sweet treats, Tous les Jours is the go-to destination for anyone who loves baked goods. During my recent visit, I tried half a dozen different fresh pastries from their display case, and the orange cake they had. Everything was delicious and perfectly baked. I was impressed with the reasonable prices, considering the quality and taste of the pastries. However, it is their cakes that really stole my heart. The cake is unbelievably light and the cream is just perfect. They were some of the best I've had in the area. The sparkling candles that come with the cake, in a super smart and cute case that also contains a knife, added an extra special touch to the occasion. One thing to note is that Tous les Jours can get busy, so it's best to visit early in the day. However, even when I went right before closing, I was surprised to find a huge selection still available. In conclusion, if you're looking for a bakery with exceptional pastries, cakes, and treats, Tous les Jours is the perfect choice. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone who wants to indulge in some of the best baked goods in the area.

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Macarons are really good and some of the pre packaged cakes. Wasn't a fan of the danishes or chocolate crossiant as they tasted a bit stale. Milk bread wasn't bad
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
This is my most recent obsession: True French baked goods, baked with love, perfection and a particular secret I presume. My son, who recently moved to OP, introduced me to this place, and I have driven all the way from L.S. four times in the last month, so that should tell you something. I have enjoyed every item that I have bought. I came here the other day, just 30 minutes to close, and they still have fresh baked goods! The young man told me that they had a line waiting outside. Enough said.
google avatar

Jonathan P.

Yelp
Simply the best pastries I've ever had! Everything I tried there was so good! You can get about anything from croissants to full sized cakes. The backers is so beautiful inside. I recommend taking a date there. The people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Brooke W.

Yelp
Amazing pastries and abundant choices. I think this might be the best pastry shop in KC. The cakes are immaculate and I'm sad I had to settle for McClains all these years
google avatar

Megan Z.

Yelp
Bought a cake for my daughter's birthday and it was beautiful and delicious. It can be a little pricey but it's worth it in my opinion.
google avatar

Maricar M.

Yelp
Curry ball from the warmer is delish. A lot of the pastries are fantastic! Since I make these two items: Swiss roll cake and French macarons, I have not tried those. Ambience is great. It's a self serve base experience. You grab trays + tongs from entrance, pick your pastries then take the tray to register. You can add beverages or other items from the case too. Or if dinning in go pay, take the tray of goodies then find yourself a table.
google avatar

Kelly A.

Yelp
I ordered pastries for a ladies group that I was hosting today, and I was definitely not disappointed. The pastries were light and fluffy and flaky and it was absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Becca A.

Yelp
Stopped in for some pastries and oh my gosh! They're so delicious, my only retreat is that I don't go in right as they open in the morning. The bakery is clean and spacious, with a huge variety. The staff I encountered were nice. Looking forward to going back and trying it again.
google avatar

Vaidehi C.

Yelp
The best Korean desert place in town! They have a variety of bakery products, deserts and cakes, coffees, boba too. The cakes are somewhat like cloud cakes and are made to perfection. My favorite picks - Tiramasu (cake for $35/small cup for $7.99), their cream pastries, croissants, sweet potato cake and rose macroons.
google avatar

Sydne G.

Yelp
My kiddos had us out braving the weather for some macarons! They loved them, so very much worth it! Such a cute and clean place. Tons of cool pastries to try, and everything was fresh. Service could've been better so 4 stars instead of 5.

Anna S.

Yelp
So good... we got a cream donut braid and a spinach and feta pastry. After eating them, we were so impressed that we went back up and ordered a cake for graduation!
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
We came here at 7am when bakery was setting up. Alot to pick from but ended up picking a few. Overall, enjoyed the curry puff pastry and castella was pretty good too. Mochi cheese pancake was not so great.
google avatar

Nicha S.

Yelp
The 1star is for the bakery ONLY :) I have been trying NOT to come in since the service is pretty bad. Always filled with attitude & being annoyed by the existence of customers. It's kind of rare to receive a pleasant customer service here. Maybe train your employees better? That might help A LOT :)
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
I purchased some muffins and ham and cheese croissants for some of my co-workers. They were loved by all! SO good! The customer service was great as well. I definitely will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I was shocked and SO happy that there was a Tous Les Jours near the KC area!! I have been to other Tous Les Jours locations in the past, and have always enjoyed their fresh pastries. The kimchi and curry croquettes are also great, warm pastries -- would recommend! We recently ordered some cakes for a friend's birthday and the service was great! The workers were very patient in answering our questions and there were so many different cake options to choose from! We ended up getting a vanilla and strawberry flavor caked, both of which were super light and not overly sweet! The cakes also came with a knife and candles, which was the cutest addition! Best bakery in town, and best cakes!!
google avatar

Angie W.

Yelp
I haven't been to Tous les Jours in a few years and decided I needed to come back! They still have themself serve pastries with many different varieties of pastries. Their croquettes are delicious! The pastries can be a little pricy- 4 pastries ended up being $17 which is a bit high to me. The green tea cake was yummy, but a little dry at the bottom. I enjoy it, but it's not an everyday stop.

Yelp
This shopping center has a lot of cool Asian stores and restaurants in it. Tous Les Jours is no exception. It is a French bakery, but definitely has some Asian or South Korean influences to it. Very unique, and I love that we have it in our area. My normal move is to eat at Cafe Vie and then wander over to Tous Les Jours for some pastries and desserts. They have a great mix of savory and sweet pastries here. Some of the macaroon flavors are a bit delicate for my tastes, but still good. I'd highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

Morayma J.

Yelp
The pastries were delicious! Service was good but not enough cashiers for the amount of traffic. The espresso machine was down and they said 5min until reboot but it took quite a bit longer. It seemed like no one knew how to get it back up. The place was clean and comfortable. I had a latte and it was decent. Definitely will be going back for the pastry
