"Japanese chef Shin Okusa is at the helm of the Towa, close to the bustling Aligre market. A champion of old-school French culinary traditions and a true disciple of Escoffier, he not only whisks up the great classics (French lamb stew, breast of duck in flaky pastry), but also sauces, hot terrines and pies, with superlative skill and flair." - Michelin Inspector

Impeccably executed French specialty dishes with some touches of Japanese influences. Loved our mains (the perfectly roasted lamb and luxurious duck puff pastry) and was blown away by the signature basil and pineapple vacherin. Lovely hospitality and the chef came out to say goodnight.

TOWA in Paris is a gem — a Japanese chef’s refined take on French fusion. Every dish was light, elegant, and beautifully crafted. A truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

We had a reservation for 4 at 7pm on a Sunday right when they opened. It was just us until about 7:30 when another table arrived. By 9pm it was half full. We decided on the five course tasting menu, which at the time of this review was 95euros. Everything was beautiful and tasty. I didn’t eat the duck (which was like a beef Wellington style) but everyone else in our family loved it and were happy to eat my portion. 😊 my favorite was the chocolate brûlée for dessert and everyone enjoyed the endless bread. The service was lovely.

The food was absolutely amazing!! The chef and his wife are so talented. I only wish I lived in Paris to be able to eat here more often.

Dined here on Sunday night with a friend. Service was a bit scattered. It took quite a while to get a glass of white wine and a bottle of red. Maybe the communication amongst the staff wasn’t that great. We started with the raw scallops entree. The tender scallops got a little bit lost in the mix of ingredients, it seems their texture was softer than I am used to when having them at a sushi bar. My friend then had the fish while I had the chicken dish. His looked like a fairly small portion but my dish was definitely very generous and tasty. I had discussed with the restaurant that my stomach was sensitive to rapeseed (Colza in French) oil. They assured me that that was not in use in the kitchen, although I am unclear that they actually checked with the chef. Well, even when walking back to my hotel, my stomach started to grumble and I was happy to make it to my room. I initially thought that it might have been the scallops, but when I checked in with my friend the next morning, he said he was entirely fine. So, I know my stomach well and suspect that rapeseed oil was definitely in use in the kitchen (it is often “hidden” in vegetable oil) because my I definitely had that reaction to the dinner. The only other thing I had eaten that day was a sandwich that I prepared at home on the train to Paris. Aside from this dilemma, I thought the food was quite over-priced and not that interesting. There didn’t really seem to be any Japanese aspect at hand in the preparation of the dishes. I won’t be going back…

I have dined at Michelin star restaurants, from 1 all the way up to 3. As other reviewers have said, this restaurant is at that tier and was, in fact, better than the majority of the Michelin restaurants I’ve been to. Every single course in the tasting menu was delicious, presentation was immaculate and artistic, and both entrees were nothing short of sublime (the Iberian pork and Talbot fillet… WOW!!!). The service was impeccable, with great wine recommendations and the sort of service you’d expect at a Michelin restaurant. I will also note, I have been to restaurants where tasting menu service was glacial to the point I considered paying and leaving - this entire experience was timely and, in my opinion, perfect. It seemed that attention was paid to my pace and so I never waited long for the next course, but it was also never before I was ready for it. The staff was extremely polite and helpful and, despite being a pathetic monolingual American, I felt very comfortable and communication was easy. I’ll also mention, I went to Japan just this year and the broth to the ravioli dish was nothing short of exquisite, on the level of the best broths I had while in Japan. Overall, one of the best restaurants I have ever dined at and for the quality and quantity of food and wine I thought that the price was incredible, too: 143 euros for the tasting (95), 3 glasses of wine, and a digestif (for one person) IN. PARIS! Do yourself a favor and go here!!

We had the most lovely meal at TOWA! It was our first Michelin experience so we weren’t sure what to expect, but it completely exceeded our expectations. The service was amazing and the food was incredible (we did the tasting menu, I’m still dreaming about the monkfish.) The servers were extremely friendly and attentive; we would definitely come back next time we visit Paris. Merci!
