"One of the first pizza shops in the greater New Orleans area, Tower of Pizza has been in operation since 1965. It’s an old school pizza parlor that also serves spaghetti and housemade meatballs, and where you can watch your pizza being made through a window. Order the pepperoni pizza — the pepperoni is cooked under the cheese, so it doesn’t get too greasy." - Clair Lorell, Eater Staff

The casual atmosphere makes it a great spot to grab a bite, though it can get a bit loud, and the seating is definitely tight. They offer a good selection of pizzas and toppings and other classic Italian dishes. Had the meat lovers pizza this visit and it was great. You can dine in or order takeout.

Google
I walked into Tower Of Pizza and immediately was skeptical. I was like man can these people cook pizza. I’m so disappointed because New Orleans Pizza is nothing great and haven’t really had any good experiences. But now. I have. This pizza is the greatest pizza in New Orleans. I repeat greatest. This pizza made me consider if New Orleans/Metairie could be in the equation of the New Jersey / New York Discussion. It was that good. And I know good pizza. The sauce was amazing, cheese amazing, crunch amaaaazing!!! If you haven’t eaten at Tower Of Pizza I highly recommend it. In fact you need to right now!

Google
Why??? I haven't been here in years, my question is why? This was definitely the pizza I've been seeking for a long time. It's not a sweet sauce or overpowered with garlic. The salad was as good as I recalled but the pizza was so much better. I will be heading back again very soon for pasta and pizza. Thank you Tower of Pizza, please accept my apologies for not being in for so long!

Connie Lisembee

Google
Oh My Goodness!! This is hands down the best pizza EVER! PERFECT crust, Perfect amount of sauce. I just can't eat as much as I would like. The Artichoke salad, Devine.. Get It!

Andrew Knecht

Google
The pizza was mediocre at best. My partner and I paid $30 for a single pizza, which was a total rip-off. But the real issue here goes far beyond the food. This establishment exudes an atmosphere of blatant racism and abysmal customer service. On our first visit, my partner—a white male—and I—a black woman—were met with uncomfortable silence and judgmental stares from everyone, especially our server. It was so awkward that we didn't even feel welcome enough to stay and eat. The passive-aggressive racism was palpable, making our experience unbearable. To add insult to injury, when I requested olives on the side to go, the older woman serving us had the audacity to charge us an extra $5-6 for something so trivial. This not only demonstrates the poor service but also highlights how they take advantage of customers. So, here’s a public service announcement to all interracial couples and anyone with melanin in their skin: DO NOT patronize this establishment. You’ve been warned. Save your money and your dignity—there are better places out there that will treat you with the respect you deserve.

Google
This place has absolutely amazing pizza. I learned of it recently through word of mouth from someone who tried it. I am glad I cam here as it is absolutely amazing. I forgot to leave the review from last week, but figured better late than never.

Google
I can remember when they had a location on dowmend Rd in east, and I have been coming here since high school for many years! The servers are awesome the food is amazing and you should definitely go to get some amazing pizza 🍕 and spaghetti and meatballs !

Google
when i took my bite i felt like i was in brooklyn. this is the best most authentic pizza in louisiana i wanted just a plain pepperoni as it was my first time at tower of pizza. drove over from covington to try this place and the hype is real. excellent service and very friendly staff. 10/10 pizza and i love the old school vibe in the place. i will start coming out here more often to pickup my new favorite pizza spot. you won’t regret this pizza spot

Amber L.

Yelp
10/10 My 4 year old asks for Tower of Pizza almost daily! Great food, amazing atmosphere, incredible staff.

Josh J.

Yelp
Old school pizza done really well. What else could one want? No special frills on the inside, but also this isn't downtown of trying to be the new kid on the block.

Mallory M.

Yelp
In my Top 5 pizza in the city. I love that the place hasn't changed since my childhood and you can still watch them making pizza through the big window. The salads and spaghetti are also great. They do a crazy amount of to-go business.

Cristen M.

Yelp
THE best pizza in town. The crust is a thinner crispier crust which I prefer. Instead of a marinara they use a sauce that's more like a gravy with tiny bits of ground beef in the sauce. The meats and veggies are always fresh and delicious no matter which pie you order.

Coreyunta H.

Yelp
Was told this was the best pizza in the city. Was pretty good but as a personal preference I wouldn't say the best. Maybe I let the overall hype cloud my judgement. The spaghetti was pretty good as well. I believe it's family owned so the service was pretty good. I'd say give it a try.

Jeff D.

Yelp
Ooops. I mistook this place for The Pizza Shoppe when I wrote the original review. The Pizza Shoppe - Awesome. Tower of Pizza......... ho hum.

Sheridan S.

Yelp
Hands down my absolute favorite pizza!!! I live on the Northshore but anytime I'm in Metairie I have to go!! We love the Tower Special with an artichoke salad

Shannon S.

Yelp
This is an old school pizza joint in a Metry strip mall that has been around awhile and is many folks favorite.  They do make alright pizza here along with some nice spaghetti with meatballs. This is a popular family restaurant and this spot draws a consistent clientele but I've never been here when its been fully packed.  Other than pizza the only other items available here are salad and spaghetti.  If you find yourself in Metairie and in the mood for pizza this is one of the better choices in the suburbs but there is better pizza to be found in the city.   Tip:  If you need Saints gear you can combine your shopping experience at the Black & Gold shop with your pizza experience as Tower of Pizza is in the same strip mall. Yelp
Love TOP. I live on the northshore, but pick up to go most anytime I am in Metairie after 4pm. Had one about 6 weeks ago (Tower Special). Great old school pizza shop.

David W.

Yelp
Definitely some of the best pizza you can in the Metairie area. Fast and friendly service.

Brittany S.

Yelp
Great pizza. Very home style mom and pop pizza joint like I'm used to back in NJ. Picnic style table covers. Seems like family ran spot. However it's crazy quiet in there even with people. That means the pizza is good but some background noise like a radio channel or even tv in the dining area would make it feel more welcoming. The coolest part about the place is that you can watch the cook prepare the pizza!

Kevin W.

Yelp
Love the pizza here. Best in greater NOLA area. Definitely recommend the Italian salad and pepperoni pizza

Ashley B.

Yelp
This little pizza place is delicious! I highly recommend you start with an Italian toss salad. The salad is covered in a delicious Italian style dressings that's to die for! The pizzas come out sizzling hot and with oooeyy gooey cheese! The toppings to our pizza tasted fresh and delicious! This place is also a pretty cool place to take kids because their are windows surrounding the kitchen so everyone seated in the restaurant can see the cooks making the wonderful pizzas! It's such a cute idea

Victoria M.

Yelp
I've been coming here my entire life! They've always been consistent- never disappoints! Try the Italian Toss & Tower Special with green and black olives

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Best pizza! So so good! Small menu but covers the basics. They have a great viewing window of the cooks making the pizza which is fun for the kids to watch! Italian salad is great and the pepperoni pizza was delicious. Service is good and quick.

Nikki B.

Yelp
Great pizza, delicious sauce, top notch pizza! was slow getting it but what do you expect when they make it from the dough up!! Will definitely be back!

Yadira P.

Yelp
Their supreme pizza is really delicious! The sauce was good and it had the right amount of fresh toppings on it. I drive way from uptown just to get a decent supreme pizza there. They are worth the drive and the cost!

Marigny L.

Yelp
The Meat Eaters Delight pizza from Tower of Pizza was so good! I got it extra crispy, which really made this pizza extra delicious. They were very friendly with pick-up for takeout orders as well--they don't really have a desk/counter to pick up orders but anyone there will be willing to grab it for you. They were very timely and efficient!

Jeanne T.

Yelp
This is absolutely my go to place for pizza. Amazing crust and toppings. And the customer service is totally on point!!

Mark L.

Yelp
An iconic Metairie pizza joint going downhill fast. You overlook the small and plain dining room of too small of tables for 4 to eat. You come for the pizza. My last visit we waited for 1.5 hours for our pizza. I counted 6 people through the kitchen window, so they had plenty of staff. No issues with the waitress as she was prompt and polite. The is about horrible management who was way more concerned about their to go orders than their dining room customers. Boxes of to go orders flowing out, while almost all of the tables sat waiting for their orders. We did get our soggy salad, dripping in olive oil and a basket of crackers to pass the time. While the pizza is ok, who puts canned mushrooms on a $25 pizza? Even Dominoes uses fresh mushrooms! At this price point, there are way better choices of pizza.

John S.

Yelp
Never herd of this place but thank you Yelp . A little family joint and the most amazing service and food. That pizza was delicious! The crust chewy but not tough just the perfect texture. Their sauce mild which allowed the flavor of olives and sausage come threw. So many different notes at once , crunch of the green peppers , saltiness of pepperoni, the black and green olives the perfect blend of the saltiness and vinegar, I'm amazed at the perfect combination of the tower supreme pie. My first visit , but I'm so impressed on the simplicity and complexity at the same time . It was simply delicious one of the the best pizzas I've had in awhile. Our salad appetizer was huge , fresh perfectly dressed with many peppers and large piece of artichoke , but that pizza was so blessed good. Won't forget this visit.

Jono B.

Yelp
This is a nice local spot. I do not believe they are doing dine in right now but they are doing take out. It was very delicious. The staff was very kind. A nice local place to support, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

Anne A.

Yelp
Honestly, I cannot understand the good reviews. Not only did they not have handicap access or a handrail to step up onto the large curb, my regular-sized walker cannot even fit through the bathroom door. I opened the bathroom door to take a peek and there were no handrails in the bathroom. So this is not a handicap friendly place. I thought the pizza was really the most plain I have ever had in my whole life. I could not understand the reviews. No flavor, nothing special, not much cheese, sauce was not tasty. The service was not welcoming and what I would call sleepy. There's one menu and it's on the wall.

Nancy P.

Yelp
If you want good pizza go to That's Amore!! This is not the place!!! Got a pie today that looked and tasted like it was at least 2 days old. Not enjoyable at all!!!

Crystal I.

Yelp
Be careful because if you blink you'll pass the place. It's super small and definitely outdated... BUT the pizza is as close as I've come to finding NY pizza in NOLA. It's baked to perfection and so good. I had asked for three slices but the waitress Sherri suggested I just get a personal pie. I figured it would be a small pie like they serve in schools. I was absolutely wrong, this was enough to feed two people. Did I mention how good this pizza was? I ate the whole thing in a sitting, not my proudest moment but I don't regret a thing.

BG A.

Yelp
Very good pizza! https://blainerestaurantreport.wordpress.com/2021/07/31/tower-of-pizza-metairie-la-report-402/

Alexandra B.

Yelp
Best pizza on the planet, period. The rest do not compare. No liquor, no frills, and the worst spaghetti on the planet but it's called Tower of Pizza not pasta. 12/10

Reece G.

Yelp
Incredible lack of care shown by the staff, which never answers the phone nor provides a good dining experience. Avoid if you have respect for yourself, because this establishment certainly does not.

Mike C.

Yelp
Nostalgia, party of 4, your table is ready. If you are a fan of old school pizza parlors, than Tower of Pizza should be right up your alley. As soon as you open the front door, you immediately notice several things. 1. The walls are covered from floor to ceiling in wood paneling. 2. The tablecloths are are vinyl with a red & white checkered pattern. 3. The ceiling is a low acoustic tile dropped ceiling. 4. The pizza prep area and oven are in a glass (maybe Plexiglas) enclosed room for all to watch and enjoy. 5. There's a real jukebox in here. 6. There's a video game in the back. 7. The menu is actually a painted sign on the wall. No one goes to Tower of Pizza because of the ambiance and decor. It reminds me of the old Artista Pizza on Franklin Avenue back in the 1970's; mostly because of the glass enclosed pizza prep area. What you get is a solid thin crust pizza hand tossed in front of your face that is baked in an old school pizza oven and not some high tech conveyor belt oven like some fast food pizza chains. Personally, I like a thick crust or deep dish pizza, but Tower offers up a pretty solid pie. The Italian salad is a must but if you've never tried anchovies, ask for them on the side as they are very salty and in my opinion, an acquired taste. Aside from a solid pizza and great Italian salad, they serve a pretty good plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Kudos to being such a kid friendly restaurant. Word to the wise, get here early if you plan on eating here for dinner, as the place fills up quickly with regular customers.

Marielle S.

Yelp
I had heard raves about this spot from pizza lovers, so David and I decided to check it out for dinner. The place is about as basic as a pizza parlor gets: it's located in a strip mall and it's a "seat yourself" place with tables and chairs and a window looking into the kitchen. The menu is pretty basic: you got pizza, salad and spaghetti. There's no bread or anything like that, which we found kind of odd and they also didn't have tea on the menu. How hard would it be to just have some canned tea in the fridge for people who want it? We ordered the Tower Special, which came topped with sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. The pizza was good, but was it $22 good? No. I didn't really like that the pepperoni was under the cheese, so it didn't have a chance to crisp up in the oven. They were generous with the cheese and I did like how big the mushrooms are. This spot is a Metairie classic, but there are better options out there. For example, there's another local place- Theo's Pizza, right across the street and they have better prices and more options. I'm glad I got to try this place, but I doubt I'll be back.

Mike T.

Yelp
I had read many reviews about pizza in the New Orleans area, and Tower of Pizza kept coming up. I finally got out to Met-trey to check it out. The restaurant is an old fashioned neighborhood pizza joint you used to see in old movies with the red and white checkered tablecloths. About 10-12 tables, window to see in the kitchen, and Menus on the wall. Clean. The staff is friendly. It was a slow day, so they were seated when I walked in. THE FOOD: Looks like pizza, spaghetti & meatballs and salads are the extent of the menu, but I was here to try the PIZZA!! Disclaimer... I'm from Chicago, it's hard to measure up to perfection, sooooo.. I ordered a medium double sausage, mushroom and black olive pizza. Browned. I ordered double meat because I heard they're kind of skimpy on the toppings. I didn't notice a small, or extra large or family size. Just medium and large. That being said.... The pizza was just OK. Too much dough, bland, and soft crust around the edges. It was browned on top, but the bottom was soft. The sauce was also bland. The sausage was ok, a little flavor. The olives and mushrooms were skimpy. Didn't get much of a taste of them. One thing I've never seen in a pizza place, they give you tongs to get your slice. Tongs! Difficult pulling a slice out while cutting the cheese with your knife. It's just OK pizza.

Davis F.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and even better service. I will definitely be back. Comparable price and much higher quality than the chains (dominos, papa John's etc).

Mary Elizabeth W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new so we headed to this old fashioned place in Metairie. The menu is very limited... so if you don't want pizza or spaghetti save yourself some time and go somewhere else. My boyfriend had the pizza, I got the spaghetti and meatball. Both were mediocre. The spaghetti sauce tasted like it came from a large can. There was no veggies or spices that I could see. Not even some diced tomatoes... the meatball was good, but nothing special. The bread that came with it looked like a hoagie or sub roll. It was dry and there was no garlic or anything to spice it up. The pizza was good enough to bring home the leftovers for the following day, but not enough to make another visit.

Marcelle H.

Yelp
Best pizza in the GNO. Little pricey for pie, but it's good food and the service is always on point. Good Peoples.

Marty A.

Yelp
Well... The Tower of Pizza is leaning a bit to the left. Family of three. Ordered a pizza and salad, like ya do. Salad was tiny, simple, and very expensive. (Italian salad normally knocks my socks off... This one couldn't even untie my shoes) Pizza was ok... And overpriced. (Did I mention I love pizza? *see previous reviews) The place was packed! We stood awkwardly in the middle of the room to wait for a table... All the time expecting this crowd was a solid marker for the bad ass food experience we were about to have... Meh, hard lean to the left.

Eddie C.

Yelp
Being a Westbanker, its easy to see the shortcomings we have food wise. This is one of them. Straight up, old pizza establishments. Westbank has Mo's. Thats kinda it. Not to slam or not include all the other really fine pizza places on the WB but when it comes to old non Italian looking, wood paneled pizza joints, the Eastbank has us beat. The pizza is thin and good. Not the best buy really good. The kitchen has a big picture window to see the guy tossing the dough up. Like every place should. The beer comes out cold. The tables are Metairie styled "too close" to each other but its ok. The parking lot is the same way too, but its ok. The servers are nice and friendly and operate at a decent speed but then again the place is small so no need to hustle too much. I am totes jelly that us Wankers dont have more places like this

Jerry L.

Yelp
Tower of Taste This little pizzeria has been around for over 20 years and has many regular customers because of it's good pizza and simple tasty Italian salad. I ordered the pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza with small salad, all of which is consistently delicious. This place is a survivor among many pizza places, some of which have come and gone. You can watch the pizza masters through the large window make pizzas, tossing them and preparing them, putting them in the oven and pulling them out non-stop.

Stuart S.

Yelp
Good Pizza! Always crowded and always accommodating, great staff and consistently great food. No frills required, when you walk in you know your in an established business that is focused on delivering a wonderfully prepared pizza on each and every visit! What else is a man really looking for...

Laurie N.

Yelp
Went in for the first, and last, time. We walk in and ordered 3 kids spaghetti and one adult spaghetti...30 minutes later and still no dinner. The staff is NOT friendly at all. And the guys that make the pizza have 2 big windows surrounding them making the pizza. Neither smile and the older man actually told a child to get away. We will NEVER come back. The food looks mediocre at best. 30 minutes for pasta? That's utter bullshit. I'm about to cancel our order and leave.

Janet D.

Yelp
We "used" to love this place until tonight! Worst service ever, we walked in and were told to wait to be seated even though they had empty tables. It only got worse, we got ignored for a full 5 minutes and a group of people walked in and sat down and were not told anything. We were taking our granddaughter there for the first time and had bragged about this place. The waitress/hostess not only ignored us but had an attitude when I complained to the "so called" manager who remained silent. What a disappointment!

Bob N.

Yelp
Not bad ... not bad at all. The place is not much to look at, but it's hand crafted pizza & getting to watch it prepared is a bonus. I definitely recommend it for take out

Matt R.

Yelp
Tower of Pizza has been around for decades, but I'm just getting around to trying it out. Some friends and I shared a pitcher of Abita Amber and some large pizzas... the Meat Eater for me. ToP delivers an old school experience with greasy, cheesy pizzas... great flavor. I loved the whole experience. BOTTOM LINE: Great old school pizza joint in Metry.

Gena P.

Yelp
Really great homemade pizza. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and the crust was perfect. Even appreciated by my picky kids. The Tower Special was the perfect toppings, in my opinion. Fast and friendly service. Kept our drinks filled the whole time. Kids even enjoyed watching them make our pizza.

Steve P.

Yelp
I was pretty pleased with the whole process of picking up a takeout pizza here for my kids. Thanks for making it so easy. They were quick and friendly and the pizza tasted good. My kids ate the whole pizza!

S.J. K.

Yelp
Tower of Pizza is solid old-school pizza. There's nothing fancy here, but come for the food, not the decor. In addition to the food, there's some stand-up service here that is a rare find. I ordered a supreme pizza, and the cook forgot the sausage. Upon arrival to pick up the pizza, I was told about this, and that they'd made me an additional pizza with the sausage for no charge. Plenty of places would have just kept quiet or let it slide, but I appreciate their honesty and effort. Even though I live some distance away, Tower of Pizza is now my #1 place for pizza!

Jess C.

Yelp
It's a small hole in the wall type of business. I'm not a big pizza fan to begin with. They specialize in pizza and it shows. A pepperoni cheese pizza with a reasonable price was delicious. It was so good that I even craved the pizza later during my stay and wanted to get one before I left. The pepperoni is underneath the cheese , even the crust was delicious and i love to eat the pizza bones!!! Call ahead for pick up.

Rosa L.

Yelp
My future husband and I went on our first real date to Artista's when it was on Franklin Ave. and when it moved we followed ever since. We were together for 57 years and never had a better pizza. He died a few years ago and last week my son was in town so we all went to remember my husband and all the times our family has eaten there. It was our little memorial to him. I cried ... well, we all did a bit. But, lovely memories with the best company, pizza and salad anywhere.

Sebrina B.

Yelp
Duuuude. So it was the night of the boil water advisory. Which was lifted but we did not know because we were already dehydrated and hungry. So we unnecessarily ventured to Jeff Parish for some pizza. We looked on yelp for a independent pizzeria and found Tower of Pizza. Tower of Pizza is overpriced. I make this statement based on the prices and the fact that the choice of ingredients was neither novel or fresh. The mushrooms were definitely canned. The crust was fresh and decent but that was the only "special" thing about the pizza. In addition, and I did not count this in my rating but would like to provide fellow minorities with a heads up, some of the patrons were mad bigoted. From the looks we received when we walked in to the conversations heard while waiting, very bigoted. To their credit we did not receive that vibe from any of the staff. So, in short, an average pizza spot with above average prices and patrons with sub par attitudes.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Took me over 30 years to try this Metry gem. What can I say?? I've seen the light. Service was fast and attentive. There was a full house to boot. Had the artichoke salad, slightly salty, tangy, great homemade Italian dressing. Comes with some crackers and butter. Delish. Now the pizza is great. Their crust has a slight chew to it, thin, but holds up well to all the toppings. Place is on the smaller side but moves quickly. They have a window into the kitchen where you can see the pizza guys doing their tossing of the dough. Good times. Great family place, would reccomend for sure.

Tim H.

Yelp
Any chance I get into Metairie I have to get my large Tower Special pizza & Italian Salad.
