The 22 Best Hotels in San Diego

"This kitschy, mid-century modern San Diego oasis boasts plenty of picturesque details, like the famous rotating neon silhouette of 1920’s Olympic diver Thelma Payne, collectible cocktail tchotchkes at the Monkey Bar, and—of course—a 40-foot-tall twisty water slide that attracts as many fun-loving adults as it does kids. It’s hard to absorb how humongous Town & Country Resort is until you’re past the lobby. Tucked just off the Interstate 8 freeway, the sprawling campus contains nearly 700 rooms, 27 fire pits, a 10,000 square foot pool, four acre riverfront park, five dining concepts, and that’s just the start. Everyone is here, from parents keeping an eye on their splashing kids from the comfort of a poolside cabana to business travelers having a bite to eat in between sessions at the adjacent convention center, honeymooners, couples…you name it, they’re here. Even San Diego locals pop in on the regular for the fluffiest Japanese pancakes in town at the recently launched DJ Brunch at ARLO." - Archana Ram, Beth Demmon

Town and Country was exactly what we needed for a quick family getaway. Even though I’ve lived in San Diego for years, this was my first time at the resort—and I still can’t believe I’ve driven past it so many times without realizing what a hidden gem it is. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless. Check-in was smooth, the vibe was relaxed, and our room? Quiet, cozy, and incredibly comfortable. I slept better than I had in weeks—it was the kind of rest you don’t realize you need until you get it.||Dinner at Monkey Bar was a highlight. We grabbed a spot by the fire pit and tucked into wood-fired pizza, fresh greens, and cocktails that hit just right after a long week. The staff were genuinely kind, and the whole evening had that easygoing, SoCal charm that makes you want to linger.||For our toddler, the resort was a wonderland. Morning story time, cooking classes, movie nights by the pool—there was always something fun and engaging. The pool was perfect for kids, the jacuzzi was spacious and relaxing, and the waterslide was a total hit. I really appreciated that they checked swimming skills before letting kids slide—such a thoughtful safety touch.||By the end of our stay, I saw San Diego through new eyes. Town and Country made our own city feel like a vacation destination, and we’re already planning our next visit.

Stayed here for Comic con since it was on the bus route. Nice resort. Very happy we picked a place with so many food options. The two restaurants on campus were great, and the convenience Mart was very handy when we got back later at night. It was a little pricey, but they really did make it easy to get to the con and even had breakfast options to go. They do have a nice outdoor pool, but that is extra.

Location is great, central to everything. Room was good and easily accessible to the pool but the shower ceiling had mold!!! The room service lady came knocking at 7am asking if we were ready for check out. I had asked for a late check out the night before, obviously the info wasn’t related to anyone. She came knocking again at 10, not very amusing! There was a couple kids throwing limes from the trees. Kids will be kids but there should be some staff walking around or something. I called the front desk to report it and all they said was yeah we know about it. I had to find them and ask them to stop myself. They charge $38 for parking per day! I think they need to include this information before arrival.

1000% recommend!!||We take an annual family trip with all of the in-laws, plus all the grandkids to somewhere in CA. This year we landed in San Diego at Town & country. We checked in early and were greeted/met with the kindest & welcoming hotel staff. They were able to accommodate us on a room change to be closer to our family which was great. ||The Palm Tower rooms were trendy and clean. Very spacious & had a cool view of the resort pool. The beds were comfy, but I’d recommend asking for more pillows or bringing your own as they weren’t the fluffiest. ||Parking was a bit tight, especially since there seemed to be multiple softball & baseball families there for a tournament weekend. ||The pool was fun with a water slide for the kids to enjoy & their menu for both food/drinks was great.||We had dinner at their onsite restaurant, Arlo, and oh my goodness, we will be back! Everything from drinks to dessert was AMAZING 🤤 ||Overall, the resort is great. Very clean, trendy, and accommodating.

This place was so great! One of the highlights of our San Diego experience!! After a horrific experience at a neighboring hotel due to poor management, our group of 20 was welcomed with open arms at Town and Country. Ana listened as we shared our experience at our previously booked accommodations, showed empathy, and assured us our stay there would be great - and it was! She went above and beyond in terms of customer service. The 5 rooms we booked were clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Our group enjoyed the pool, sand volleyball, time on the balcony, and coffee from the MRKT. You wont regret staying here!

Google
Great family stay. We had a two and five year old and they loved the pools with the walk in entry, cornhole, and playing in the sand at the volleyball court. We had a nice time making s’mores at a fire pit. Our room was very clean and had a balcony overlooking the pool. It was a fun atmosphere with the music and lights. In the evening we could see the fireworks from sea world. The staff was all friendly and were quick to help when our check out time was originally incorrect. We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Booked a last minute trip and it was definitely best decision ever made. Jessica at the front desk was very helpful and nice, and I was impressed that she went above and beyond with her professionalism. She was very informative about the hotel amenities which we definitely took advantage of and made me feel I was at home. Spent most of the time hanging out at the pool enjoying good drinks and appetizers. Can't wait to come back!

Google
This resort is painful! It's a massive facility without the infrastructure to maintain the operation, especially when they are at or near capacity. Staff isn't available, management is nowhere to be seen. There is not enough parking, even with a ridiculous parking rate charged. The pool is nice, but completely bonkers. The waterslide is the slowest slide we've ever seen. Even our kids were over it quickly because it was too "boring". The grounds are cool with games and fire pits, but the rooms are the pits. Old, smelly, not enough lighting, the beds are terrible, the bathroom was gross, and the room was banged up. Given the high prices, high resort fees, high parking fees, this place doesn't remotely live up to expectations. Finally, when I tried to address any of these issues the customer service was atrocious. I always have to laugh when companies in the "hospitality" business offer zero hospitality.

Yelp
Town and Country resort is a bit dated. Quite a bit dated, but the people are very friendly and the pools are nice and it does offer you everything to just "get away". Although, why would you want to when you're in San Diego? So much to see! Other than Town and Country being a bit dated, our stay had no issues.

Yelp
I had to stay here for a conference, and for over 200$ a night, this place was dirtier and more disappointing than some motels I've stayed at in the past. In fact I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere dirtier. First of all- they already cheated my reservation by telling me rooms in the main tower were out, and there were no more king bed rooms. I paid the same as anyone else attending. The room did not even have a desk to work at. There was mold all over the bathroom, and the space between the sink and tub looks like it has not been cleaned for years. The ceiling also has gross things attached to it. Overall, one of the worst and dirtiest uncomfortable stay ever. Avoid

Yelp
This hotel has a culture that stuck in my mind for days. Every member of the staff that I interacted with was friendly, engaging, and had that "it" factor. Kudos to the HR team who staffs this team! My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, under unfortunate circumstances while our child was at Rady's hospital. In the worst of times, this resort was a little sanctuary that lifted my spirits. Music playing, great landscape, playful decor, plenty of delicious food options to go or to dine in. On top of all that, the bed and linens were top notch! I can't wait to come back here for FUN with my family! Well done Town & Country!

Yelp
Town and country has a 50's theme going for it, but in a a clean and modern way. Their rooms were spacious and each room has a lovely balcony. I understand they are pet friendly and they have 3-4 places to eat on site. 1 of which is a bar with some appetizers, 2 restaurants, and 1 quick and go coffee shop/cafe. The location is a short 5 minute walk to the mall and also touches some sort of train/speed rail thing that seems to take you to other tourists locations. Everywhere on site was very clean despite there being a huge convention in town. My only complaint is that the elevators were weird. Super super slow and the wallpaper was peeling in them. They should probably consider updating them, the elevators were what dated them and I was on the 8th floor so I relied pretty heavily on them.

Yelp
I didn't stay overnight here, just used the facilities during the day. I parked in the garage for a yoga class on the lawn on a Sunday morning. The lot was pretty full at 8:30am, but did find a spot. Lawn was beautiful, lovely yoga class in the warm February sun. You do have to pay for parking (we got ours validated because of the yoga class), and then received a free entry to the pool for the day. We hung by the pool for a couple of hours. It was a nice 75 degree day in February (I could see it getting pretty hot here in the summer since there's no breeze). There were a lot of kids running around the pool and hot tub, but also plenty of lounge chairs and space. There's also a few restaurants around, we grabbed a to-go breakfast at the market, I enjoyed by coconut iced latte and veggie egg burrito. Overall nice day, but I'm not sure I would have paid to use these facilities.

Yelp
Unacceptable and Harmful Experience at Town and Country - AVOID IF You Are Part of Marginalized Communities I am deeply disappointed and hurt by my interactions with the management team at Town and Country, especially after the ongoing harmful behavior from staff members such as Madison, Carlo, Mark, Sabrina, and Rian. My experience has been nothing short of distressing, and I feel compelled to share the full extent of the harm I endured. On September 22, 2024, I initially reached out to Madison to inquire about hosting an event for marginalized groups, including trans, non binary, queer, Black, Indigenous, and disabled individuals. Unfortunately, Madison's engagement was fraught with transphobia, racism, and ableism. When I called attention to this, Madison did not take accountability for these actions and continued to perpetuate harm. I was left with no choice but to request another staff member to work with me. I then met with Carlo on September 27, 2024, to discuss the event further. During this meeting, Carlo mis-pronouned and misgendered me multiple times, adding to the emotional toll I was already experiencing. Despite promising to follow up with event details and pricing, Carlo completely ignored my inquiries, leaving me with no response. When I reached out again on November 21, 2024 (after multiple events I wanted to host had passed), Carlo's response was laced with transphobic, misogynistic and ableist microaggressions, which he dismissed when I brought them up. Instead of addressing the ongoing harm, Mark responded on November 23, 2024, and looped in Sabrina Patterson and Rian, yet none of them addressed the issues I raised. Instead, Mark minimized my concerns, engaging in misogyny and transphobia while focusing solely on the specific details and aspects of the event. Despite my repeated requests to have my boundaries respected, Mark continued to dismiss the pain I was experiencing, offering no accountability or resolution. When I followed up again on December 1, 2024, requesting accountability for the harm I had endured, I was once again met with silence. When Mark finally responded on December 4, 2024, he attempted to hijack the event I had already spent months planning, offering no acknowledgment of the harm his team had caused. This behavior is not only unprofessional but harmful to marginalized individuals who are already often erased or mistreated. It's clear that the management at Town and Country, including the staff mentioned/involved, has no regard for the safety or well-being of those from marginalized communities. I had planned a variety of events, including a movie screening, a queer prom, and even a potential international conference, but after this experience, I would not recommend this venue to anyone who isn't part of multiple privileged identities. What is most painful is that I had loved the venues under the Town and Country umbrella (Arlo, The Lapper, Monkey Bar) since 2023, especially after a positive experience needing to book a last minute hotel during Comic Con (which we had not idea was happening until trying to get a same day hotel reservation). Unfortunately, the lack of response, accountability, and respect for people like me--trans, non binary, neurodivergent, queer, disabled, BIPOC--has left me feeling unsafe and unsupported. I have made over 10 attempts to have this harm addressed, and each time I have been ignored or dismissed. Including requesting over 3x that someone from management (other than Rian, Sabrina, Mark, Carlo and Madison) contact me. If you are part of a marginalized community, I strongly advise against engaging with Town and Country. And even if you are not, I recommend not supporting an business that causes such harm and distress to marginalized communities. The harm I've experienced, compounded by their refusal to acknowledge or address it, is something that no one should have to endure. I will no longer feel safe at any of their venues, and it is deeply saddening to know that this is the environment they continue to foster.

Yelp
Great Hotel/ Resort for a reasonable price! The hotel is clean upon entering and the people are very friendly at the front desk. I had arrived early and the lady at the front desk kindly and quickly set me up with a room. Thank you! The room that I booked was the 1 King Bed (Snazzy) and it was the perfect amount of space! The pictures on the website are truthful! The A/C blasts cold air, the bed is comfy, there is a desk to get work done, a sofa to sit on, a balcony with chairs to enjoy the SoCal weather, and a great shower! The hotel is in a central location in SD and it's conveniently located next to Fashion Valley Mall, restaurants, and popular areas of SD like Hillcrest and Gaslamp. Getting an Uber to and from the hotel to any of the preceding is either less or about 10 minutes give or take. Convenient! The Fitness Center is PERFECT! There are weights, cardio machines, yoga mats, and so forth so you can get a good work out in! It's clean, towels are provided, and there is water and cups to hydrate. You can get a coffee at MRKT next to the hotel lobby! Lastly, they make communication with the hotel SUPER EASY! You can text questions or request housekeeping via text and they are quick to respond! Also, you can easily check out via text. If I'm in the area again, I would stay here!

Yelp
I have never wanted to sleep in a poorly run nightclub before, and that is exactly what this hotel is. No one advertises that there is a nightly DJ at full volume until 10pm every night. Not just in the lobby - by the rooms. There was no elevator for our room, which we were informed of upon arrival. We did not enjoy dragging all luggage up two flights of stairs to our room without any offer of assistance. The rooms are dated, and the floor was sticky. Customer service is abhorrent. When we arrived the line was over an hour long to check in, which the employee commented was unusual (must not have been since it was the same the next day as well). I left a credit card at the bar by mistake, and the front desk insisted that no one gave it to them. I did not get it back until I tracked down the employee at the bar when they reopened the next afternoon and she had to locate it for me at the front desk. Don't eat at the bar. It's overpriced and not good.

Yelp
Attended a conference here. I could not stay here since it was sold out. This meant getting a rental car and paying for parking daily at both my hotel and the conference site. Overall the venue is relaxing and not too spread out. Audio was good. Room sizes were appropriate for each talk. There needed to be more chairs/sitting areas inbetween the presentation rooms. Food and coffee service was good but they needed more hot water during the "coffee" breaks. A lot of tea drinkers in the crowd.

Yelp
Came here for a work conference and its a great location for big conferences. Staying at the resort is convenient. The rooms are not super nice though. It is an older hotel and could use some updating at some point. There is paint peeling on the wood in some areas of the room I stayed in and you have to make sure your door shuts all of the way. You really have to pull on it to close it when leaving the room. I also did not love being right next to the elevator because it sounded like small children screaming every time it came up. The service is ok. Mediocre at best. I checked in online to speed up the process for when I arrived because i knew they'd be busy with the conference. Front desk check in lady was so rude and kept telling me I had a room number but I was never sent any of that information so how was I supposed to know where to go. Super appalling and kept speaking to me like I was a child. Worst customer service experience at a hotel. Aside from all that nonsense, the restaurants here at the resort are great. I grabbed breakfast at Arlo twice and was deeply satisfied each time. They have a nice bar next to it and a quick grab and go coffee shop which was perfect for quick mornings. The lapper restaurant was super fun too because they had karaoke at night. I also loved the wide variety of seats outside with fire pits. It was chilly while we were there and so it was nice to sit by a fire. I definitely would not stay here again unless there was another conference here. It seems like more of a family vacation spot because of the pool and slide and different activities catered more to families with kids.

Yelp
Everything was great except for the fact that they charged me and processed my credit card on file when I had a food and beverage credit to my room. This is the second time (different stay) I feel that I've had to let them know they charged me on accident and this is a real big inconvenience when you have to get ahold of the accounting department and speak to their voicemails and wait when every other department has a live person. This just set a bad tone for me when I had a nice, decent stay, I won't be staying here anymore, now just waiting on them. I told them when checking in too, make note of my food and beverage credit and I was assured they would. Now I'm here.
google avatar

Rachael M.

Yelp
We would definitely stay here again! Everything was clean and sitting around the fire pit at night was a relaxing way to end the day. It's in a perfect location with just a short walk to public transportation and the mall. They have a good variety of food to choose from at the onsite restaurants, but it was a busy time with a lot of guests so the wait times got pretty long. We walked across to the mall food court a few times when we were in a rush.

Yelp
This review is ONLY for the pool. I went with a friend to spend the day having a few drinks by the pool. They had a great DJ and also held a limbo contest for adults and one for kids. It was lots of fun and the drinks were great. However there were so many splashing kids!! Hardly any adults in the pool. It was great but not if you don't have kids and just want a chill pool day. I highly recommend this place for families!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Recently stayed for a work conference and was very satisfied with staffs performance, food, and ambiance Only discrepancy was I wish there was a separate sauna for "Adults Only"- was never able to enter because continuously packed with small children. Will look into visiting in the future for personal leisure especially knowing their dog friendly, near San Diego and you also have a nice mall with all nice stores.

Yelp
Stayed here for a brief weekend staycation and we were pretty happy with this place! We were looking for a place with a resort/getaway feel that wouldn't break our bank the way many beachside resorts in San Diego would on a saturated weekend, and felt like this place delivered. With multiple buildings surrounding a pool and a twisty waterslide, lots of places to sit out in the courtyard and multiple fire pits, two modern restaurants and a lobby with a beautiful bar, it was just big enough to feel like we had been transported out of San Diego. It's so beautiful at night too with all the lights on their buildings! One of our best memories was ordering a bottle of wine and a cocktail from the Monkey Bar late at night and sitting outside at one of the firepits just enjoying the vibes and looking out over the pool/all the hotel lights and palm trees. Beautiful, safe, and so peaceful (and lots of other people hanging out and doing the same thing)! The hallways and elevators felt a bit old but the rooms felt pretty clean and modern and the shower pressure was nice. Overall very family friendly as well. 4 stars because -When I came to check in at 4pm the reservation system was down and we couldn't check in. Waited in line for ~20-30 minutes just to be told that no one could get into their rooms right now. Would've been nice if they had just made a big announcement to spare us the wait. They then took my number down and told me they would text when the room opened up but never did. Could work on their communication. Huge inconvenience at the time but they did give $50 in compensation to spend at their hotel bars/restaurants which was nice -Ordered the king bed but was given a room with 2 queens instead. At that point it was so late given the check-in fiasco that I didn't want to go through the hassle of going back to the front desk to ask them to change it -Also ordered a deal on Expedia with parking+resort fees waived (BEWARE if your fees aren't waived - as you may have seen from other reviews you'll be charged $35 per parking + $20 resort fee PER DAY) and it was very annoying how many times I had to remind them of this. On check-in they tried to charge me the extra $35 and I had to remind them with screenshot that we had the deal. Then on check-out they gave me a key to exit the garage without fee but it wouldn't work and the parking machine tried to charge me again. Overall there were several kinks that could have been smoothed out with this place to have made for a smoother experience but we had a great time!

Yelp
Town and Country is a whole resort. I booked my room through Costco travel and got a great deal that included parking and a rental car. Upon my arrival at the hotel, I noticed the entrance and lobby to be well maintained and nicely decorated. My room was in the Happy Camper section. When I entered my room, it smelled musty. The room was nice and appeared to be clean. The mini fridge did not get cold and did not have a dial to make it colder, so I couldn't keep my food at a safe temperature. There's no microwave in the room so you can try to keep things cold, but there is nothing in the room to warm food. If you are a smoker, just know that there are no designated smoking areas. I was given two places I could smoke, but there were no ashtrays. The resort has a lot to offer that I didn't get partake in since I was just here for a night. I would not return to Town and Country if I had to have the same type of room. I know they have better rooms, so choose wisely.

Yelp
After my initial review over a month ago I was contacted for my information by "town and country" for follow up. Yet they still haven't contacted me via email or phone. Yikes.

Yelp
I stayed here recently as I was in town for a conference. This place has seen its better days, but for the location in San Diego and walkability of the resort, it wasn't a bad spot and it was relatively reasonably priced. The rooms were a bit in need of a facelift, i.e. paint peeling from walls in the bathroom, but the bed were nice. I did love the reusable, nature-based toiletries and the small soap and location kit which were in paper packaging. I am bumping down a star for crappy wi-fi in the room and all around! I couldn't get connection at the bar; the server told me to sit by the MRKT, it also didn't work there. Bring your own wi-fi, or hope that your conference brings its own to the event. One day I had to purchase lunch in the restaurant so that I could actually sit down and be connected. For a cheap-ish hotel resort close to the airport, it's alright.

Yelp
WE LOVE THE PLACE! We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights and 3 days. Came with some of our church family for Father's Day weekend and book 4 rooms. We were all at the Palm Tower (6th & 7th). The place has a lot of activities/things to do for all ages. My 2 toddlers was able to enjoy the kiddie pool, the youth swam in the regular pool, while the parents enjoyed the jacuzzi. There is also a slide with short line, a volleyball area and ping pong (if you want to play some sports). At night, you can do a bonfire and chill or watch a movie by the pool side. If you want to eat outside food, they have a picnic area by the parking lot. But you also have to try their food, coz it's also good. We ordered some on our first night. Yes, there is a parking fee and it's not far if you know where to go. If you're room is at the Palm Tower, park in the back/around the resort. Your key card (when you check in), will give you access to the parking lot, and the same card is your key to your room. You just drop it off in the drop off box when you check-out, next to the exit. If you want to leave the resort, it's about 10 minutes to down town San Diego. We went to USS Midway Museum during the day and had dinner at Little Italy. Overall, we just love the place and recommend it to my friends and coworkers. We are definitely coming back, with our family next.

Yelp
I'm a 30-something woman who travels a lot for work...leaving my review for others like me! I would not stay here again, it was not my choice in the beginning but that is where the conference was. TLDR: loud, no clean, and not 100% feeling safe. The Bad - You can hear everything, from people talking to random banging throughout the hotel. - The door rooms are on the outside of the Palace Tower and it goes straight into the public, I like my hotels a little harder to access. - Old resort that can't get clean. The paint is pealing, the dust is piling....dirt has collected in corners. - room service was not ideal, not great options The good - service is great, they sent mechanics to fix my broken TV - the lobby and lobby bar is nice, honestly sets you up for high expectations - the market shop is convenient - water stations everywhere - gym was nice

Yelp
This is the PLACE! Came here for Poshfest, a reselling conference. Close to public transit (although I wouldn't recommend riding at night), an outdoor mall- in case you forgot to pack anything, and has 2 great bars, a wonderful restaurant, and market with artisan coffees. In addition to this being a great stop for our-of-towers, I can see this also serving as a staycation for locals, with the pools and waterslides for the kiddos. The first day we arrived, I ate at The Lapper, and had a refreshing watermelon and arugula salad, which also had balsamic drizzle and mozzarella. Drank a spicy cucumber jalapeño marg, and later has a seasonal pumpkin spice cocktail at the bar. Bar stays open as long as there are patrons, and in the evening, there are cozy Adirondack chairs around fire pits. Would definitely come back here, especially to bring my little to Legoland, Sea World, or San Diego Zoo!

Yelp
Was in SD for a weekend trip and wanted a hotel close to everything. This Town and Country didn't disappoint! If you're into mid century modern that's pet friendly, family friendly and feel like you've just entered the 1950's resort with a modern vibe then you've found it. The rooms very clean, spacious, large TV and mini fridges. Hot tub had strong jets and there's even a large water slide. Service impeccable (especially Megan at the front desk) Overall this was an excellent experience and I think we just found our new San Diego home away from home!

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend who frequents San Diego. I was looking for something nice and kid-friendly which it was. We checked in on a Friday afternoon, I checked in on my cell phone to "speed up the process" but still waited in line for keys and hotel info for about 30 minutes. The front desk staff was nice but wayyy too talkative. The line was long and she knew we had driven so I needed to use the restroom AND there was a dog that was freaking my kid out so I just felt like she overlooked important social cues to talk. She also kept offering to babysit but baby, which was weird to me but maybe she was just being nice. She did offer me a card for a free coffee during our stay which was kind. Anyway, driving up to the property and the front area is beautiful. Parking is a little complicated and sparse. We were placed in the regency towers which are towards the back of the property. They were okay. Could use a few updates in the bathroom but overall not bad. Walking through the property is nice and relaxing. It is really green and just a nice sight with all of the flowers. There is a main pool and there was also a smaller pool located at the tower we were in. There are a few restaurants on the property. We ate at 2 of them and it seems like the food is made by the same people and is low quality. Especially for the price. The main pool is really nice. The jacuzzi is a bit small and gets crowded quickly. We stayed Friday-Sunday. The pool got shut down early in the day Saturday for "cleaning" and never opened back up so everyone moved over to the pool at the regency tower. If they weren't in the pool, they were hunting down a fire table for s'mores. So, all that to say it is very kid friendly and a beautiful sight. The slide at the main pool is the highlight for the kids. They host different activities and have a scavenger hunt for kiddos as well. It was just inconveniencing for the pool to be closed for half the stay. The fire tables are great and they sell s'mores kits at the Mrkt store, which is nice. The rooms don't match what you see out front. They aren't as nice. The food is not worth wasting your money. The tacos they served me were supposed to have a slaw on top, they literally put cabbage then a glob of mayo on top then a drizzle of salsa. So nasty! Drive off-site, explore, and enjoy actual decent food.

Yelp
It finally came to me. While staying at the hotel to speak at a conference, I felt a sort of geographic dissonance. Now, sitting on the plane and heading home - it has finally dawned on me . . . the hotel is a transplant from Palm Springs. Honestly, you can't have a more Miami Vice meets Palm Springs chic place in Miami or Palm Springs. I really liked my stay. The staff are extremely helpful, kind and friendly. From the moment I checked-in to my early morning text exchange with the concierge, - the staff were awesome. Now, after staying in a California Dreamin' hotel complete with drinks sporting umbrellas and finely manicured artificial grass - I have to say I really liked it. The rooms are spacious and decent. The room service food is decent - for room service food. Oh, did I mention the super friendly staff!?! I'll be back. It's a great place for conferences or a quick weekend getaway to sunny San Diego (although the poor San Diegans have been doused in a 100 year rain storm that's caused tremendous property damage from the flooding).

Yelp
Room Service was excellent. The chicken tenders and fries were clearly cooked in old oil and for too long, given their color and crispness. Really over cooked. Industrial Chicken tenders and fries from Sysco should be easy. This was a disappointment particularly for a "resort" hotel. But, I was hungry and it was room service, so I ate some of it and did not send it back. My expectations were not high and despite that they were not met.

Yelp
We had the most memorable time for NYE!! Thanks, Town & Country! The resort provided so many fun activities for kids on New Years! It was an epic experience for my daughter & I. They are pet friendly as well. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Unfortunately I am having to post a negative review because we live here in San Diego and have had many great experiences at the resort. This time was not the case at all. I asked a group of friends to go for the last weekend of our summer break for a staycation. There were about 10 of us with 3-4 rooms booked. During the evening of one of the nights we were there, we were on the ground floor and kids from the 4th or 5th floor began throwing buckets of ice on our group of friends. This started around 7pm. They then began to throw limes down and at one point one of the children called someone in the party an a**hole. We went to the front desk after calling several times and several buckets of ice being thrown on us only to be told they have to follow protocol and were basically unwilling to handle the situation and suggested all of us relocated to a different area of the property. We were not willing to do that. One of the members of the group began taking videos after this and went back to the front desk to show them. Following this the security and manager needed to come into our room to look into things when we had done nothing wrong and were not breaking any rules. Very off putting. They finally removed the people around 10pm. The following day we went to the front desk to get a refund and instead of a refund we were offered an additional night stay. We all agreed to that. I was asked to put my credit card back on file for incidentials. As it turns out I was then charged around $160 for the additional room stay as I checked out. I called in this morning and requested a refund because due to the circumstance and the offer of an additional night stay should not have been charged for the room. I was denied a refund. So I ended up paying more to stay somewhere that allowed that behavior. Hopefully no one else has this type of experience and the management reviews this report and issues a refund which is clearly the right thing to do when our group of moms and children were assaulted by other guests due to no fault of our own. Very disappointing.

Yelp
I had a conference in the area and decided to stay here. Similar to what some of the other reviews had shared - when I went to check in, it felt like I was a hindrance to the employees' day as they were conversing with one another and didn't seem to be excited to have to check me in. Further, the moment they saw that I booked with a 3rd party platform, you could feel a hint of annoyance. The room they had for me was in the back, which wasn't too much of a walk, especially since there was a dedicated parking lot next to it. I was on the fourth floor and had a nice view of the swimming pool area and the property on the patio. Additionally, I was within walking distance of the rail line and the mall (which was a really nice outdoor mall). The biggest thing, that bothered me at this location, is the fact that the rail line is running throughout the night and you can hear it almost every hour. I did not get much rest. I wish I was warned of this.

Yelp
There were several issues during my stay that accounted for my low rating. The first being the room we were placed in. The room was one floor above the air conditioning generator! The loud buzzing and humming can be heard through the walls and it runs 24/7. You have to learn to live with it so that you can tune it out. Next issue are the paper thin walls. Loud banging and clanking start at 6:30am. It's awful! Housekeeping carts, hotel workers and guests clanking luggage bags down the halls and stairwells make for a very loud, very early morning. Not ideal for a relaxing staycation. Other little inconveniences such as the remote control not working in the room, the "heated pools" being cold, the jacuzzi being lukewarm at best, no on-property events scheduled and our balcony facing a grey concrete wall, as well as larger ones such as NONE of the Tesla charges being operable. How can a resort of this size not have ANY working EV chargers on property? And, we basically used none of the "amenities" because they either weren't offered or not as advertised. Lappers, the on property restaurant, was also closed during our stay so we had to leave the property for breakfast and the pool slide was closed due to "low occupancy". I was very excited to book a 2-night stay for my husband's birthday after touring the venue for a large conference booking next year. I booked a room for the same night but it didn't quite play out how I'd hoped. There are kinks that need to be worked out to get this resort to the level that RB Inn, Humphrey's and other local resorts are at. I wished I had booked a room at one of our regular staycation resorts instead of taking a chance on the Town & Country.

Yelp
Great resort! Amazing staff. Can't remember if her name was Melissa, but registration worker was the nicest person ever! They let you check in early. Great rooms great pool and great drinks. And the registration staff is wonderful. Highly recommend staying here

Yelp
The website makes this place look retro cute and a fun place to bring the family where you can spend your day at the pool. If that's your intention then this would probably be a great stay. I was here for a conference so didn't utilize the pool. The important aspect for me was good lighting so I can put on makeup and look decent. Sadly, the rooms are dated and the lighting in the bathroom and the hallway where the full length mirror was were poor. Luckily, I wasn't going to see most of these people at the conference again so if I looked a bit funky, it wasn't too bad. The rooms did have a fridge, but no microwave. I was also locked out of my room because the card reader ran out of battery. I was left standing outside my room for an hour. The chat function is useless because whoever is on the other end takes FOREVER to respond. Trying to communicate with someone was extremely frustrating. The service here is helpful only if you don't need help. Overall, this would not be my first choice for future stays.

Yelp
Recently stayed with Grandchildren. All top notch. Clean, plenty of amenities, comfortable bed, responsive front desk, and very best of all, absolutely loved the gym! (oh and the slide for my grandson "and me", super fun and attendant on duty at all times) Will be my go to from now on when in area

Yelp
Booked at Town & Country to attend the 2023 International Plant & Animal Genome Conference (PAG30). Located in Mission Valley on Hotel Circle N, an easy 6 miles (~12 minute) rideshare away from SAN airport, newly remodeled, a mile away from Fashion Valley Mall. Had the PAG Conference room rate for the weeklong stay, which was $209/night plus taxes/fees. I had a Happy Camper King Room which was in one of the poolside bungalows, on the ground floor near the lobby (other option was a Snazzy King Room in the main Tower). They were still doing construction near the tower where the gym is located. The resort was not too big to navigate, as I had to attend sessions in the various convention center ballrooms. Out of the three hotel dining options, I tried Lapper (fish and chips) and MRKT (Mexican Mocha, chocolate croissant, mushroom pizza, chicken and waffle) but didn't get a chance to stop into ARLO or the Monkey Bar. Checkin was easy, a map was provided, and hours for all of the food places within the resort. Free wi-fi. Dog friendly, as there was a dog run near one of the towers. Cornhole boards near Lapper. Since I was so close to the lobby, you could totally hear the live music from Monkey Bar and the people who were hanging out at the firepits in the astroturfed area late into the night. At the conference food provided was ok/good, including salads and cold sandwiches from MRKT and hot/warm food options such as Thai curry chicken stirfry over rice, chicken fajita bowls, taco bar, continental breakfast, coffee and tea during breaks, and a closing banquet. After our conference ended for the week there was another big conference immediately following as I noticed others with lanyards/badges. I did not get a rental car but they did have a parking structure. The room itself was still a little outdated, namely the bathroom layout. Barely any counter space, and if you were to sit on the toilet the door opening inward would totally hit you. There was no vent so I had to crack the door open to prevent shower steam from fogging up the entire mirror. The outlet for the hair dryer was on the wall near the lightswitch...which was right over the toilet? The cabinet door where the fridge was opened in the opposite direction of the actual fridge door, which was awkward, and the Keurig single-serve coffeemaker was a slideout rather than simply on top of the dresser/entertainment center? Strange. Stash Tea and Green Mountain K-cups provided (breakfast blend and decaf), powdered creamer and sugar/sweetener. The digital clock did have wireless Qi charging, and USB outlets on both sides of the bed underneath the reading lights, and the lamp near the TV also had USB plugins. The full-body mirror was behind the room door (I would've preferred it by the closet/bathroom) with a whiteboard feature. I'm vertically challenged but even still the closet rod seemed a bit high. The room I had had a thermostat to control the heater which was a PTAC (packaged terminal) style below the window like at motels. When it rained unexpectedly I was able to borrow a full-sized umbrella from the front lobby. The San Diego River actually overflowed and flooded right behind the convention center side of the resort! I didn't avail of the feature but they also had a phone number you could text with any questions.

Yelp
My previous review on the issue i had with this hotel. It's unfortunate that the problem was never fixed like I was told it would be. So I guess we can say I probably will never use this hotel again. You want to be safe and respected when traveling and staying at hotel you don't want to have to deal with rascist employees and such so its definitely bitter sweet. Because this was the only hotel I ever stayed at when in San Diego California now I moved back here since but I have not stayed here at all.

Yelp
I'm going to give this hotel, a five star review for the experience that I had. This is a very busy Hotel in the summertime especially for families with kids ... it's an extremely kid friendly hotel. However, we ended up staying here because of the lack of choices due to a concert. When we told the agent at the front desk that we wanted to have some peace and quiet, she was able to get us the highest floor away from rambunctious noise. She also gave us our room as soon as we arrived. This is a large property that has a great restaurant attached to it called Arlo . Also, a market with pizzas burgers and really delicious coffee that opens at 6:30 AM. There's plenty of umbrella, seating throughout the property that is not directly on top of the pool area. We were able to find a little spot and enjoy a sip and a nibble. The lobby is cute and very retro with a fireplace and fun bar with live music. They have parking in the front of the hotel as well as the back for your convenience. And this hotel is dog friendly.

Yelp
I was able to stay here a few weeks back while visiting San Diego! This hotel is a must from the friendly helpful staff to the amazing food at the restaurant! Something I really loved is the decor every detail was thought of from the magazines in the lobby to the amazing bedding! I can't say enough good things! I haven't stayed at a hotel where I felt like I was on vacation in Palm Springs just walking through the hotel or waiting for my Uber! Their updates are on point! This hotel is great for families I didn't have time to swim but they had a lot of outdoor furniture for families to sit and watch their kids swim. I will definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I'm confused about the bad reviews, I stayed here on 11/24/23 with 2 other friends. We were in the Marco Polo 2 Queen beds room, very nice and roomy. I did find 1 piece of cereal on the floor next to the AC unit lol but that's all that was wrong here, please make sure your cleaning staff cleans the floors thoroughly. This resort has one of the cheapest parking rates in SD $35 max with in and out privileges during your stay. I booked through a 3rd party, paid 4.99 or 5.99 for an extra person fee since there was a total of 3 of us not a problem at all. Very reasonably priced, great amenities loved the heated pool and spa. There is also a waterslide. The ice machine was not making ice fast enough, but we were able to get some ice out of a other machine. Use your room key to get pool towels from the flamingo dispensing machine. Will definitely come back soon! Forgot to mention: the texting is Great to communicate for service or any needs during your stay, they respond fast! Great service- requested for extra towels one night and they arrived promptly. I wanted to come back with my German shepherd but I see the policy for pets is 30lbs or under :( she's 92 lbs.

Yelp
I'm not exactly sure how this Hotel has a low rating, this is one of my favorite hotels to stay at when I'm in San Diego. This hotel is within close walking distance to the Mall which is a plus and it is a family friendly hotel. I have had no issues with this hotel whatsoever and I also seen Tony Hawk parked in the front of the Town and Country as I was leaving the parking lot. Was not expecting to see a celebrity there.

Yelp
Our stay at the Town and Country Resort was perfect! We haven't been in years since before the renovations and let me just say wow, it all turned out beautifully. The service was on point from check in with Ashley, who was super friendly and welcoming, to our checkout with the bellman who helped us get all of our bags to the car. The room was perfectly suited for our two little pups, our niece and nephew and my husband and I. Lunch at the Lappet was fantastic and dinner and breakfast at the Arlo was on point. A special thank you to our dinner waiter, Abraham with 10/10 service and conversation. We definitely will not be waiting years to go back, looking forward to a summer trip!

Yelp
Haven't posted a review in a long time but the most meh experience I've had over the last few days gave me no other choice. If you remember anything, remember this: Eat offsite. The rundown buildings, the room doors that don't shut, the slow, jank elevators with busted buttons, the endless text message marketing, and the not-great pool are all ... yeah, but I didn't have a single good food experience anywhere on property, made worse because there's nothing in walking distance except a mall food court. The best I had was the convention center eggs that were dry-at-best. Let's start at Arlo, which might have been great, but their hours are too limited for me to have been. Others in my group walked in later, waited at the host station for 15 minutes, then turned around and left. Lapper - see above about a host station, but add that 'medium rare' means 'extra well done' for steak in their kitchen, the 'vegan' wrap had cheese on it, and it was over an hour for the bland food to hit the table after we ordered. MRKT - if I never walk in the door again it'll be too soon. Nothing on the menu tells you, but for the Funghi pizza be prepared for a pie drenched in béchamel and blue cheese. I like mushrooms and blue cheese, but had to scrape all the toppings off and just eat the crust - for a 10" pizza that took 30 minutes when I was the only one in the place - because there was just. so. much. béchamel. Service industry is having a hard time right now. There's no question. This includes hotels and restaurants. And - places like this aren't really helping their cause. So why 2 stars and not just 1? A few things... Front Desk - I wish I could remember her name. The only thing I remember is that she had a very long last name. She was welcoming, friendly, understood the best ways to make things go smoothly... I hope she sticks around, and the rest of the front desk staff seemed to be equally helpful. Location - tho not great for food, it is nice to be so close to the mall. Light rail stop is right there and Hotel Circle in general has pretty good access to the rest of the city (and the airport). Decor - tho old and decrepit, the kitschy colors and mid-century style gives this place Palm Springs vibes in the best way. Overall I can't recommend staying here but if you do make your meal delivery service of choice your best friend.

Yelp
It's a dated resort that was overpriced for the service, decor. The front lobby is renovated. The rooms definitely need a renovation. They had limited outlets The gym had equipment, weights and pelaton. There are no resort services like classes but there is a resort fee and resort cost parking (we had to wait to her out) Pool said it was heated. My friend tried 3 different pools and they were all freezing. 2 stars is because the service at the front desk was friendly. Most of the hotels in this area look old. The Legacy hotel down the street had newer and nicer rooms and smelled wonderful

Yelp
I unexpectedly had a Monday off from work so I decided to have myself a little "staycation". My initial thought was a resort in mission valley??? But upon some research the newly remodeled resort looked fun and inviting so I booked myself a room and I'm very glad I did! The resort is very chic from the moment you walk into the lobby. I arrived early on a Sunday and while I wasn't able to check in, they issued me access to the pool as well as stored my bag until my room was available. I started with a complimentary mats & mimosas yoga class right on property. The instructor was super friendly and it was a great workout! The mimosa at the end was clutch. From there I went to the pool to get situated before it got too crowded. Next I had brunch at Arlo (which I'll review separately) but it was fantastic! The pool did get crowded but that was to be expected on a Sunday in the summer; I did learn after there is an additional (quieter) pool on property but the main one had a DJ, water slide and waitress service. When I was finally able to check into my room I was quite pleased with it! After a nap and a shower I headed back down for dinner. I had wanted to dine at Arlo again however they weren't open so I went to Monkey Bar which was a more casual but still great option. The package I booked (namaste in bed) offered free parking, a waived resort fee and late check out (1 pm) which came in handy after a long day in the sun! I would definitely recommend staying here- it was family and dog friendly, clean, reasonably priced and just an overall great experience!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel to stay for families. The staff is super accommodating and friendly and hosts events that entertain the kids like the movie night at the pool. We had a great time and recommend it. If you don't have kids, then maybe stay away because it feels like a family day camp. Shout out to Audelio at the front desk who was available one text away at all times. We will be back!

Yelp
I was at the Town and Country Resort for a conference last week and it was such a great stay. From the initial check-in, Ashley made me feel so welcome and at home---and excited about everything the hotel and the surrounding area had to offer. And she had patience with all of my questions and showed me everything on various maps (plus how to get to things that were farther away). The rooms were clean and large and the conference center was great throughout. Food was wonderful and the staff kept up with all dietary restrictions for the group without a fuss. It would be great if we could host the conference here every year.

Yelp
One of the lousiest hotel/resort ever. This place should not continue to open. My family and I came to this hotel for Memorial Day weekend getaway. Arrived on Saturday and stayed till Monday. Room service is beyond failure. Asked for extra towels and never came. So I had to go find the housekeeper and get those towels myself. Then on Monday, when we want to get breakfast, it's only Buffett with crappy selections (tell me about "resort" category). What establishment sends home the cooks on holidays when there's visitors around? Access and exit to garage using the hotel key DOES NOT work, failed 100% and had to call for assistance.... The hotel room is worse than mediocre. We stayed in a suite, with "living room".... The wall is so THIN that I can hear my neighbor snoring..... Front desk associates.... Ok, I'm tired of typing... Not sure what this place is, but it has to be revamped completely.

Yelp
Choose to stay here due to a holiday party event 1st impressions is this is in a PRIME location perfect distance to everything Dan Diego Love the layout and the ballroom hall was very spacious The Staff was awesome I had a issue with my room and without hesitation Jake at the front fixed in a prompt manner which I appreciated being I was already running late to my event The CONS for this to be at one of the best locations for a hotel or resort it is in need of some major upgrades. Inside of the rooms, there were a lot of outdated floor tiling, patchy wall paint, outdated showers, counters and tubs . This location has so much potential to be so much more. The company should really look into investing little by little into upgrades. The pool and the amenities are way more upgraded than the actual rooms

Yelp
3.5 stars. I've been to T&C several times over the past decade. The ongoing renovations make the property constantly better, especially with the lobby facelift and addition of Monkey Bar. Love the eateries here overall, though the Market gets CRAZY busy in the mornings. I stayed a few nights (specifically in the Regency Tower) for a convention. Didn't get a chance to check out the pools, but those were tempting! The retro themed décor is WAY cute, and my room was comfortable. Difficult to find the light switches, as they weren't in an intuitive place. My main complaint is the SLOW internet. Probably old infrastructure. Glad that T&C is doing well and adjusting to the times. My friend came to visit and have a few drinks with me, so she parked in the nearby mall parking structure and walked over. Would definitely recommend a staycation here, like many other locals have said. I also have a soft spot for any hotel that's dog friendly. Overall great experience!

Yelp
I really had a bad experience staying there. Check in day was a nightmare, took 1 hour to get in line then room wasn't ready and they were supposed to text me when will be ready, they never did it and had to make other line to ask the front desk again for my room and off course it was ready and never got notification from them. Also had to called front desk requesting for a cleaning of my room, never delivered extra hand soap. The rooms look very old and in low maintenance stage.

Yelp
Loved the people. Everyone at the resort was wonderful. Shout out to my amazing new friends who work at The Marketplace, Eden and AJ who went above and beyond to help me and were so kind.
