The Twin Cities’ Best Breweries With Outstanding Food | Eater Twin Cities

"Town Hall Brewery, a staple of the Minnesota beer scene, has an eclectic menu offering walleye, curry, and Minnesota’s revered Juicy Lucy burger featuring a patty stuffed with lava-hot, molten cheese. There’s plenty to pair with the taproom’s various beers. Find its ever-popular Masala Mama IPA (a throwback to IPAs before the haze craze) on cask, which gives it a creamier mouthfeel. Online ordering is available." - Louis Livingston-Garcia

Google
My wife and I have visited a total of 2 times and each time was consistent with great service, great beer and unbelievable food. To add even more nods to the food, its steps or maybe leaps above most restaurants with the combinations and flavor profiles. I will continue to be a patron to this spot. Mike Hoops absolutely nailed it with this brewery/brewpub!

Kirk Hellweg

Google
This is the best place to eat in the seven corners area of Minneapolis. The service (servers, runners, host) is always friendly. The peach burger we recently tried was delicious. Very juicy with the cheese melted to perfection. Fries are super crispy. Their beer selection is quite extensive, and the house beers are usually quite good. This is a college area so much of the crowd is college-aged, but at least early in the evening the atmosphere is fun, but not rowdy.

Google
We absolutely loved our visit to Town Hall Brewing! The food was phenomenal — by far the best bar food we had during our entire stay in town. We tried the Town Hall Tots, the Juicy Lucy, and the Wild Rice Hotdish — each dish was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and full of comfort food goodness. Seriously, if you're in Minneapolis, this place is a must. Our bartender/server was fantastic — super friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations that really elevated our experience. On top of all that, the vibe of the place is just awesome. It has this really cool retro atmosphere that makes you want to hang out for hours. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back

Google
Beer was pretty good, but I wasn't sure at first. The place and beer reminded me of something like a national brewery chain, like a Rock Bottom, or Gordon Biersch. It had that type of vibe to it. But the beer was good. Best one of the day was the Golden Mosaic. Their sours were okay. Patio seating was nice, and it was not busy.

Old school gastropub with interesting choices of beers, inventive food and warm service. I tried their blood orange beer & really liked it. Their wild rice burger was average- the avocado used was over ripe & it kinda stole the thunder. The fried cheese curds were quite tasty but wish they were less oily.

Stopped here for a late dinner. Got seated right away. A bit noisy and a bit chilly. Love their Scotch ale, and they made a really good whiskey old-fashioned press. The server was Johnny on the spot (Tayor). He helped us order the exact right thing, and he was right. The blackened Walleye was excellent, but the wild rice hot dish was AMAZING! We asked for the recipe. The grilled eggplant panini and fries were excellent as well. Will definitely come here again.

Google
Ended up at this place for the first time in May because it was right next to the hotel and we've been craving it ever since. Ate both of our meals here this time... Thursday and Friday. Everything is delicious!! Food, beer, cocktails!! So good!! The apple sausage on the K Platter is amazing!! Sweet Corn Nachos and Townhall Tots - worth the trip alone! Naan Tacos, Walleye BLT, Penthouse Burger... I wish I had another stomach. Can't wait for our next stay down here to come back and try something else. We LOVE this place!!

Sarah Hawn

Google
I just ordered to go from here as I am at the hotel next door for a work function. The walleye BLT sandwich was awesome and I got a side of the smashed potatoes, which were also really good. When I went to pick it up, the staff was friendly and the vibe of the place was really cool. I definitely want to go back for dine-in.

Yelp
I've been here dozens of times over two decades and have always enjoyed the place. The beer is solid, and they have cask ales which is fun to try. Recently I had - the Ragamuffin Chicken sandwich, chicken was great but sandwich all together was mediocre. Regular Chicken sandwich - good. Walleye with carrots and mushroom wild rice hotdish. The walleye wasn't cooked well, but the hotdish was fantastic. Pot roast wit mash potatoes and steamed carrots - great, the pot roast had incredible flavors.

Yelp
Delicious food, good service. Went for lunch and liked the vibe very laid back. Conveniently located next to hotel.

Yelp
This is an excellent restaurant and bar in a great location downtown. We went twice! Great selection of comrade and seasonal beers plus some excellent prices on high end bourbons and scotches. We loved the fries, wings, burgers, shrimp tacos, This is an excellent restaurant and bar in a great location downtown. We went twice! Yelp
I had a lot of free time in Minneapolis and spent much of it here. The weather was perfect, so I sat in the outdoor seating area that's great for people watching. The food was fantastic! The pours were generous, and the servers were fun and engaging.

Yelp
Grabbed a quick lunch on Friday and was quickly sat at 1:30pm. Blackened chicken Caesar salad and cheese curds were what I chose. Salad was great and well priced at 15$ (salad is so expensive now). Curds were ok, I would've liked marinara sauce if it was available. Place is a little dark and hard to tell if it's "open" as it doesn't have the most inviting exterior. Seems like a good spot to grab a pint.

Yelp
Was here with a group of 17! We were able to make a same day reservation and were seated right away. The service was good and everyone's food came out at once, which I think can be rare with such a large group. The juicy Lucy was so good!

Yelp
We stopped here after a gopher basketball game. It's a Pub Pass stop and first time I had been here. Loved it. We split a burger because it was late and didn't want a full meal. It was the perfect amount. Double-patty burger was juicy and very tasty. The fries were super crispy. Really great dinner. I chose a stout for my beer. Very smooth and tasty. We will definitely come back again. Our server was the happiest, most energetic person. So kind. The only thing I wasn't happy about was paying for parking ($5) but for that amount, more than worth it. Loved the homemade quilts celebrating their many awards. Great stop.

Yelp
Just had the best Pot Roast of, I want to say my life, but I still have more to taste. But to the very best of my recollection, this Pot Roast will slap your Mommas Pot Roast on the behind! The tenderness and flavor is above the rest. You'd need a 30 year old seasoned cast iron pot to come close! The complementary gravy will n the pot roast and mashed could be possibly its own category. I travel and dine through out our great country and this little jewel is f Minnesota needs some recognition, let's start with the Pot Roast please!!! If in the down town area, come try to me of the FORTY tab beers, but you have to have the melt in your mouth pot roast! The service at the bar by a handle bar mustache server, the welcoming atmosphere is also something to experience!

Yelp
The food here was amazing and the service was excellent. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a lovely dinner.

Yelp
Town hall is the first brewery my now fiancé went to when we first started dating. I still remember how thrilled he was with one of their scotch flights that our bartender recommended. I love the old school brick, the long classic bar, and the food is pretty good too. I got the duck poutine and boy oh boy I was licking my fingers to the last drop of that gravy.

Yelp
Delicious food, yummy and exciting drinks. A cozy little place with great outdoor seating. Prices aren't exactly cheap but the quality is worth it. Their burgers and pasta are particularly good, as is the Superstrike lager. Definitely a favorite

Yelp
If you're looking for an old school/ old timey vibe w/ a good selection of beers and food, this is the place for you! Not your typical brewery vibe but a great place if you wanted to bring kiddos or go on a date. A variety of beers to choose from and even a couple of ciders! No sours though :( I got the pitstop lager and it was delicious! It was super light and smooth. As for the food, they have a huge menu to choose from! From pastas to wings, they have it all. I decided to get the short rib poutine ($14) and my god IT WAS TASTY! Those have to have been the tastiest fries I have ever had. It definitely complimented my mouth and beer haha. My housemates got the chicken pesto penne ($18) & the barbecue pulled pork sandwich ($14). One of them loved their pasta but the other didn't care too much for the sandwich. They said it needed more sauce. Overall, a great place with good food and beer. The vibes just didn't win me over. Also, shoutout to our server Ben who was super cool!

Yelp
Cozy little place right outside the heart of Minneapolis. Love the tavern vibe and friendly staff! Went on two occasions and was not disappointed by the food! Not knock youe socks off, but definitely more than pub grub!

Yelp
We stopped here after a long day of driving and really enjoyed sitting outside for our meal! We burgers and sandwiches (I had the walleye sandwich) and it was good, but nothing special. Hubby enjoyed some beers and son #4 really liked their homemade root beer. They didn't have any gluten free beer or hard seltzers, so my choice was between wine and cider. The sugar in ciders doesn't sit well with me so I ordered the wine and hung my head in shame for not being able to enjoy one of their beers. Well, I tried! Our server was helpful. She gave us the lowdown on the sketchy areas to avoid and confirmed the path we figure out to get to Trader Joe's. Overall it was a good experience, but meh. If you are staying at the Marriott, it's right next to it and not a bad option to have.
google avatar

Marla K.

Yelp
The food was fantastic! I got the 7 corner burger with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. Service was somewhat slow, but our sever was very nice. The atmosphere is somewhat rustic, and has beautiful lighting. A hidden Jem on West Bank! Also, the food and drink were decently priced for what you get :) would highly recommend this establishment
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome drinks and even better food. Our whole group enjoyed our meal. The service was fantastic. We enjoyed the patio vibes for sure. They have awesome sweet potato fries and insane chicken sandwiches.

Yelp
Closed an hour early than the time posted. The business owners were extremely rude. Do not recommend!!

Yelp
This place was next door to my hotel, so I stopped in for some food and beer. With so many beer choices, I went with the sampler of 5 beers. I have to say the sausage platter was legit. Too much food to eat, but each one was so tasty and different. Bar tenders were attentive and gave good suggestions. If you're in the area, give this place a shot.

Yelp
I seldom make it here... NOT a fan of pay parking. Which I forgot to confirm today; when I said this last Friday, I was told they validate the hotel ramp next door. Joel was my beertender today, same fellow I had on Labor Day. He provided the same great service. Kindly obliged me by engaging in beery conversation. I asked beertender Joel & server Luke what their go-to's were? Joel & another employee recommended the Helles, so I made that my second beer, and went big! My first beer of the day was the Hope & King scotch ale. After Helles I went w Luke's choice of Parkway java, on nitro. Last beer of my visit was Joel's recommendation of Dortmunder on cask. All beers were refreshing & delicious. Glancing around, I was truly appreciative when I spotted the "Lines Last Cleaned" sign! As I said that appreciated the sign, the manager was behind the bar and replied "we keep it fresh!" More glancing around lead me to spy a bottle of rum from the now closed Lawless. May have to order a cocktail next time?! I had looked @ the menu but got caught up in talking, so I was ready to go, so it was too latee to order. But I was highly intrigued by Chicken Naan Tacos!! Thanks Town Hall, despite not popping in often, when I do, you always provide great & fun service & good beer.

Yelp
One of the Best spots In town. Pulled pork sliders are unmatched. Along with the beers on tap'

Yelp
Came here multiple times durning our stay with our 3 year old. Great service, nice vibe, lots of choices! The apple burger was amazing!

Yelp
In town for the weekend. Loved yesterday's food so much, we came back for more. Our waiter (Mitch) was a true seasoned Pro. Mitch provided Excellent service! I highly recommend this place. I was tempted to get the Fish sandwich again but ended up choosing the burger. Both were Delicious.

Yelp
I am embarrassed to say that this was my first visit to any of the Town Hall locations. They have been brewing in the location at Seven Corners in Minneapolis since 1997 and have won more awards than any other Minnesota brewery. A staple of the community, and one that helped drive the craft beer scene in MN - defining what beer styles should be and how to do unique spins on them. They also have three sister locations that I will need to be making a visit out to. If you are hungry, there is an extensive food menu. Food: Wisconsin Cheese Curds | Dortmunder-batter and fried to perfection. Served with home-made ranch. Ragtop Fried Chicken | A giant Fried Chicken Breast smothered in buffalo sauce topped with gorgonzola, lettuce, and on a solid bun. Beer Flight | Saaz Double Pils: A Bohemian Pilsner brewed stronger than the traditional style would ask for which makes the Czech Saaz hop variety expression more intense - spicy, malty, and downright crisp / clean. This one disappeared first from the flight. Grand Cru: A Strong Belgian Ale that brings a slight alcohol warming (not acidic / astringent / off putting) that is not overwhelming even in the Summer. Darker fruits like plum and an almost wine like / sherry finish.  Eye of the Storm: A Honey Ale that they have won awards for. It is brewed with Minnesota Honey so you know it has to be good. Dried mango and orange with a hint of candi sugar sweetness, mild floral notes from the honey, and pleasantly medium-light body. A tasty and unique drink! Mixed Culture Brett IPA: A Brett IPA fermented in oak and dry hopped which you don't see often, but it is fun to see how the usage of Brettanomyces / Saccharomyces yeasts bring out funky barnyard character combined with the tropical fruit of dry hopping. It was well balanced in this take! One Simple Pale: An American Pale Ale double dry hopped with Mosaic and El Dorado. An explosion of various tropical fruit and stone fruit flavors expressed through more of a juice profile than a zest (more citrus / juiciness than bitterness from the fruit). Still a good medium-low bitterness backbone to the beer. A great stop and won't be my last at a Town Hall location! ____________________________________

Yelp
Great Character of a brewery, loved the taps. Horrible parking situation. Use the ramp. Lock your car. Security is not great and lots of issues.

Paul L.

Yelp
Good beer (especially stouts) and great food. Worked for vegetarians and meat eaters. Very comfortable space, nice wooden bar with plenty of table seating. Staff friendly, genuine, helpful.

Charlie R.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel next door for 3 nights and never felt tempted to go anywhere else. This place is the real deal - amazing food, drinks and service in a classic pub atmosphere with a nice outdoor area as well. Highly recommended!

Burgers and wraps are a must have thank me later. Service was good went after a comedy show downtown, and it's attached to the Courtyard Marriott hotel

Yelp
Good beer and Great Poutine !!! Nice little spot to have a cold one and watch baseball while eating some very good poutine !

Yelp
Great food with good service. Sat outside an she told us the forecast of possible rain showers. Wrap an burgers with fries are delicious. Fries are light an crispy. Many options on drinks

Jan L.

Yelp
In our party of 6, we each ordered something different. All of us enjoyed the food. The beer was SO good. They have a comfortable, warm atmosphere complete with brick walls, funky chandeliers, and interesting wall hangings. The service was some of the best I've seen in a long time. Our wait staff was a guy named AAron. Seriously - he was friendly and funny. We didn't have to wait long for orders to be made or drinks to be delivered. Too bad all restaurants don't have someone like him working for them. We'll definitely return.

Brian W.

Yelp
Solid set of drafts. Food is really great Bar food. This feels like the kind of place you could sit down with a stranger and enjoy yourself over a burger or poutine and a couple beers.

Hannah D.

Yelp
Plenty of outdoor seating and relatively quiet for a weekday evening. Service was fast and friendly. The food was fresh and well prepared. They even cater to canine guests by bringing them a bowl of water!
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Good atmosphere, good staff, good wings, good location. Overall a really good location. The wings were a good size. This was walking distance from our condo so we didn't have to handle parking but there seemed to be a lot of street parking. They didn't have any seltzers but that's okay. Overall good time!
google avatar

Kelsey K.

Yelp
We visited here for the first time and sat outside. Plenty of seating and social distancing here. The outdoor seating is right next to the road and not very private. The inside was really cool and vintage. They have a pretty big menu! The drinks we started with were good. They have a great list of beer selections to choose from. The bloody wasnt bad either. For food, we ordered the blackened walleye and Kramarczuks platter. The platter came with three specialty sausages. We personally didn't like any of the specialty sausages. The combinations were odd and the tastes of each just seemed off. We also felt that this platter shouldn't be an entree but an appetizer. For an entree, all you get were the sausages. It just seemed like more of a shareable. The blackened walleye was not breaded and just seasoned. It wasn't bad but I'm not used to fish not being breaded. The wild rice hotdish was something unique that came with the fish. This portion was delicious and had some good flavor. The asparagus was also cooked well and tasted good. Overall, service was excellent. We really liked their beer selections here but did not like the food and prices that went along with it. This would be a nice place for drinks but skip the food.

Esteban P.

Yelp
Been here so many times I love their food! Their BBQ sauce is my favorite one anywhere in the Twin Cities. Great servers, always friendly and the events they host are cool and small enough for you to enjoy. Great area that's its located in. Love the drinks. Great place overall.

Yelp
Quality brewery located not far from the Vikings stadium, and other bar/breweries in the area. I got the west bank pale ale and one other one which I'm blanking on, but both were good. I would have gotten food, but we were trying to hit up multiple places nearby so sadly didn't get to try any but it looked good from what I saw. The inside is nice looking, a kind of old timey vibe, (for lack of a better word to describe it lol) It's pretty close to the blue line stop as well, you can just walk there, which is what I did. Not a bad spot to meet up before or after a Vikings game, or just if you're a fan of craft beer. It's on the same street pretty much as day block brewing, and Crooked Pint, which are the 2 places I went before this so you can easily hit all 3 up in a day if you were so inclined.
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch on our way down to a river cruise. I had the Cuban which was huge and delicious. My husband had a cheeseburger that was also very good. The service was quick and friendly. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Thanks Scott T. and the rest of your gang-you all seemed to work together nicely to provide prompt bar and food service. I'm not sure I have EVER seen food prepared and served so quickly! Thank you for being so accommodating to our group of 8 that went to 11 that went back to eight. You know who we are! We appreciated being able to watch the Gopher Football game at your establishment today on a rainy/snowy fall day. Keep up the good service.

Yelp
We stayed at the Marriott for a game this weekend and were so happy for a good restaurant in such a convenient location. Arrived to town late and popped in here on a whim and did not regret it. The sweet potato fries were so delicious we had to come back the next day and get them again! They were perfectly crispy as well as sweet and savory. My boyfriend was a big fan of the beer flight and loved getting to try all their different options. It was a perfect place to stop for a bite and a drink before walking to the stadium too.

Yelp
I am from out of town and drink micro brews from all over the Midwest. THB put together the greatest group of barrel age beers that I have ever had in one sitting. Just sorry that they had nothing I could take home to enjoy when I get there. Also, best black bean burger I have ever had. Awesome fries. Also, the bartenders are also amazing. Thanks THB

Carter N.

Yelp
I walk in and the crew there makes me feel like a King. Good food, good atmosphere, what more should one ask for. I do my best to be a respectful customer and these guys go above and beyond. The whole crew is awesome!

Mitchell H.

Yelp
Fantastic vibes. Waiter was super informative and nice. We got the wings and one of the burgers and they were both great. The masala mama IPA is fantastic. Greta experience overall, will definitely be coming back.

Ctf 0.

Yelp
The food is amazing here. It's a little cold inside the building, but it's also 25 degrees today. The server/bartender is very nice. Kept checking on us and made sure that we got what we needed. I was a little put off that the lady gave us desert forks, but the server quickly replaced them. The food was delicious. We ordered short rib poutine fries, Four Corners burger, Juicy Lucy, and a Cowboy burger- which was the burger of the movement that day. They all were very delicious, hot, and tasty. I do enjoy Minnesota's "Cry Baby Craig's hot sauce". I asked for some extra ranch and a little extra gravy, which I found they up-charged at the end when I got the bill. Overall, the food was good/great, service was ok (nothing spectacular to write about), but is definitely convenient. The establishment is next to the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. I would go back. But it's not a restaurant that I would be willing to drive out of the way to go to...

Yelp
So I have been here enough times to give a true assessment of this establishment. I love going here for beers, and you should too. Their offerings are truly one of the best in our wonderful metropolitan beer mecca. Being a brewery, their beers can and should take center stage for this establishment. THB has a beer for everybody, from session IPAs, Pilsners, and Lagers. If you are there at the right time you may be able to partake in some truly well-crafted barrel aged ales like Czar Jack Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, or Twisted Trace Barrel-Aged Barleywine. The food certainly compliments their beer offerings. There are two things I will always get when I am there with friends..ALWAYS!! First is the Short Rib Poutine, stout braised short ribs, topped with cheese curds and gravy on top of French fries. Best thing ever, and if I didn't get the scorn of my beer drinking mates, I would never share these with anybody at my table. The other item is the Town Hall Tots. Stuffed tots with jalapeno and cheese. Always good, and better than fries in my opinion. I really enjoy this place and you should too. Come down some weekday afternoon drink some beer, and hang out with the cool kids!!

Alicia N.

Yelp
I walked in, asked for a menu and placed a to go order for a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with fries! It was very fast, hot, and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! It comes topped with coleslaw that is amazing. I have never had coleslaw taste that good! The sandwich is a little spicy but im a weakling that doesn't do well with alot of spice so if i loved it, u will too!!! The fries were crispy and well seasoned and tasted great as well! The staff member who took my order was Noah and he was friendly and efficient! I work at the parking ramp close by so will definitely be returning!
google avatar

Bridget K.

Yelp
Overall a really nice spot! Good atmosphere, decent tap list. Their cocktail list is pretty limited - only bourbon drinks, but the one I got was great! I got the blackened walleye with wild rice and mushrooms and it was fabulous. It was a good sized portion, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Service was great too. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
Town Hall recently changed up their menu, which includes many of my NEW favorites, but they did take away my go-to dinner choice: The West Bank Chicken Club, so chef, if you're reading this, please bring that back :) I've live within walking distance to Town Hall Brewery and over the past two years I've become very familiar with them. If it wasn't amazing, I would keep coming back! During the summer their patio is perfect. Even though it's right on the street, it never feels too noisy or dirty eating out there. I have never experienced a rude server, and have always had A+ service. They have a great selection of beers and ciders and wine, but they're sometimes out of a beverage if it's popular and not their own brew. A super fun food to get is the Chicken Tender Flight - You get chicken tenders (that are delicious) served in shot glasses of three different sauces. Of course, you can't go wrong with the brew pub pretzel to start (filled with cheese, and dipped in cheese!) but I just tried the Sweet Corn Nachos and they might have jumped to #1 on the favorite list! TL;DR - good food, good drinks, good patio, great service. Why aren't you there already??

Kayleen J.

Yelp
Good food and drinks! We stopped by on a Tuesday night and had no trouble being quickly seated. Favorites were the pretzel and the juicy lucy. The sausage platter was good and had a brat, chorizo and polish variety.
