Chef Kenny Gilbert Brings Family Recipes to Upcoming Raleigh Restaurant | Eater Carolinas

"Spearheaded by celebrity chef Kenny Gilbert, a TV personality and chef to stars like Oprah Winfrey, this wood-fired Southern restaurant (at 13100 Falls of Neuse Rd.) emphasizes a blend of modern and traditional Southern dishes inspired by his Florida native mother’s cooking. The menu will showcase barbecue, local seafood, and a standout weekend brunch, with signature items such as smoked pork belly burnt ends with pickled pineapple and scallions; Southern ramen with pulled pork; farm-fresh C&G deviled eggs with whipped pimento cheese, redneck caviar and andouille sausage; an epic garlic crab grain bowl; smoked fried chicken BLT biscuits; and a sweet potato pie with buttermilk sauce, blackberries and whipped cream. A full-service bar will highlight inventive cocktails focused on moonshine, whiskey and bourbon. Gilbert intentionally chose North Raleigh over downtown for demographic fit and easier access, has been preparing holiday orders (including 60+ turkeys to go), and is actively finalizing the buildout, staff, events and menu with plans to be on-site extensively at and after opening." - Jenn Rice

Best burger on this side of the mountains. We usually dine at the Holly Springs location, but this one is just as great! I recommend the Montreal Steak burger or California burger and Parmesan fries. The atmosphere could only be made better if their chairs were comfortable, but take the burger to go or to the sidewalk it doesn’t matter, just try it if you haven’t yet.

Overall Score: 7.0/10 – A spacious and well-maintained burger spot with a diverse menu, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere, making for an enjoyable dining experience. Atmosphere and Service: 7.2/10 – The restaurant has a clean and inviting setup, with spacious indoor seating and respectable outdoor seating. The décor includes interesting signs, big TVs, and music, adding to the overall vibe. The bathrooms were clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The menu offers a wide variety of options beyond just burgers, giving plenty of choices. Free water cups were a nice touch. Nachos: 6.9/10 – A well-executed dish with warm, seasoned chips and a great balance of ingredients. The queso sauce stood out as a highlight, and the fresh jalapeños added a nice kick. Cowboy Burger: 6.8/10 – A solid burger with good overall flavor. The BBQ sauce was prominent, adding a nice sweetness. The bacon, while not crispy, still had a good taste. The quality was evident, and the price was reasonable for what was offered. Buffalo Chicken Wings: 7.3/10 – A standout dish, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The wings were available with sauce or a dry rub, offering variety. The spice level was just right, and the pricing was fair for the portion and quality. Fried Mac n Cheese: 6.8/10 – A unique and tasty option with a slightly different but enjoyable flavor. It could be even better with the addition of bacon or extra ingredients, but it was still a good dish overall.

What a wonderful place. Small family style sports bar 🍸 full of energy and great staff. Needless to say, with a name that includes "Burger," I HAD to try one, though I rarely eat anything like this. I'm so happy I did! I built my own burger and decided for only that so as not to confuse or disturb my palate in any way. The place is clean, well lit, with all the restaurant sounds being absorbed by the fabulous wooden structure. Kudos 👏🏽 to this team. We will definitely be back

The absolute worst dining experience of my life. You will not be greeted at the host stand. So me and my family, including my three year-old son were forced to sit at the bar. One bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. Another one was rude and encouraging us to leave like we didn’t belong there. Me and my brother both had one beer and put it all on one check. Being as if one of the bartenders was so friendly, I tipped 40% and left kindly. But then was followed out to my car by another bartender! As I’m putting my three year old son into a car seat! A short hair, female bartender, harassed my family, claiming that we did not pay our tab. It was so embarrassing and dangerous. I quickly returned into the restaurant to rectify the situation, and was treated as a criminal. The manager did nothing! I showed the copy of my paid receipt! And was still accused of stealing! At this point a scene is made at the bar as I am furious that I was followed to my car on an absolute inadequate assumption! I am a Durham native, as well as a restauranteur. I was just looking for a burger for a late night meal. And was giving the most embarrassing horrendous service imaginable !!!!!! I encourage everyone who reads this to never dine at this Horrendous restaurant. I’m sure nothing will be done or changed from this incident.

My husband and I enjoy eating at Town Hall because of their consistency with the food and great beer selections. I highly recommend their nachos with the fried chicken.

We at at the bar so we had service at our seating arrangements. The food quality is excellent. I had the steak and cheese. The French fries melted in your mouth. You can tell they were freshly made. The only thing I would change is to have waitress at the tables instead of having to place orders at the counter. That would greatly improve the experience for others. They had a gluten free options for cooking.

Went here for dinner tonight and food was pretty good. Was kind of a wait to get our food but it was busy, so it was no big deal. Bartenders were very nice, and the beer was perfect. I got the Mando burger and fries, and I split the pretzel bites with my brother. The first half of my burger was perfect, but I was eating the fries for a little bit then went to eat the 2nd half of my burger and the bottom bun was soggy from all the grease 🫤. Just the sign of a good burger right!? The pretzel bites were good and the queso sauce to dip them in has a little bit of a kick was added some nice flavor. The staff was super attentive and made sure we were always good! Was a really nice experience. Mando Burger - 7/10 Fries - 6.7/10 Pretzel bites - 6.2/10

Great burgers. Cooked as ordered, seasoned well. Fries were great as well...just the right level of saltiness and crispness. They have a variety of types of burgers from the basic cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickle burger to specialty burgers such as one named after Armando Bacot. Service was attentive and prompt.
