Very great food and service. The steak tips are great but there are also many other good options. Can't really go wrong when deciding what to order here. The fries are also amazing! Ana served us and she was extremely pleasant and always made sure we had what we needed. We will definitely keep coming back!

Google
[this is a formal complaint] The owner started frowning upon me for no reason the moment I walked into the door and gave me all kinds of attitudes for no reason. It’s not justified in every possible way. While all other staff from waitress to kitchen staff were nicely enough, the owner was the only one wandering around in a white baseball cap with no idea what’s going on or serving any customers. Throughout my time eating, not a single glass of water was offered.wow I tell you what, serving mediocre food doesn’t make you a fantastic restaurant. If you’re unable to fix your attitude, you will not get any customers back. This type of people is exactly the type that would bully their own employees that I can tell. So. Be nice.

We came here after watching a movie across the street and I would come back again even if there wasn't a movie worth watching. What amazing food and service and such a great atmosphere.

First visit ever. Best fries I've had in a while. Cuban was excellent. Craft beer selection was okay. Service was very friendly but speed was erratic (drinks could have been taken care of more quickly; food delivery was great). Prices were slightly higher than expected, particularly on the beer (Maine Lunch price was highest I've ever seen). But overall, the experience was very good and we'd be happy to return in the future.

Google
The salmon was clearly made by someone who loves salmon. Buttery and rich and the noodles and greens complemented the salmon well. I was impressed with the quality of the spinach even in winter. My husband liked his burger too and thought it must be made with high quality meat.

Google
Nothing about this place disappointed us! Amazing wine and cocktails, great food! Their Halibut in the July special was the best! Add a crispy chicken sandwich and stuff shrimp peppers to it and you get a perfect rainy summer evening.

Google
Tried it for the 1st time. Great friendly staff. Every dish coming out of the kitchen looked great! Nice presentation on the hummus app. Chicken thigh with peach salsa meal was great!

Google
Great burger prepared and served perfectly as ordered medium rare, no bun. Cheese balls and pastrami sammich also delicious. Now about the service... It was great, Jamie Lynn took good care of us, as us 2 San Diego residents explore New England and enjoyed a great dining experience.

Yelp
Let's go to Burger Tavern! Finally found a delicious burger and fries combo that hit the spot! My bf and I were craving burgers and really didn't find much options around so we decided to try Town Tavern since we had never been. Luckily they did have some burgers on their menu along with other many entrees and sides, so we were super excited! I couldn't decide on which burger to get so I asked our nice waitress and she suggested to get the Town Tavern burger simple enough. The place is spacious with tons of tables and rooms for big and small groups. They also serve alcohol and soft drinks but we decided on soft drinks this time. When our burgers came out they looked so good! The thick fries were nice and crunchy and salty. The burger was cooked nice and medium just like I ordered it and it came with fresh crispy veggies. I couldn't wait for the first bite. It literally hit the spot! I quickly gobbled it up and the fries. I think I couldn'tve eaten another burger combo but I was very satisfied with the town Tavern burger. My bf also enjoyed his burger and fries. We will definitely be back when we are craving burgers and also consider trying some of their entrees options.

Yelp
2 friends and I chose Town Tavern because it was close to where they were having facials. 2 of us met at 6:30 and knew our friend wouldn't be done with her treatment until after 7pm, so she wouldn't arrive until 7:30 or so. So we had 2 yummy passion fruit spices tequila drinks, those were very good. Our friend didn't end up arriving until close to 8pm. We ordered more drinks and food. The food came, we went to order one more drink each and was told, "sorry, we have stopped serving". It was 10 minutes of 9. The food arrived 15 minutes ago...why weren't we told, as is the custom "Hi ladies, the bar is closing in blankblank minutes, is there anything else we can bring you?" Moments later someone was at my elbow taking away my salad plate and all the lights came up. "Guess we ought to finish", we mumbled to each other. We finished our food and then paid the bill as the manager was counting money at a table near us and wasn't very warm as we said our good-nights. As we were crossing the street ALL the lights in the place shut off. Like a cartoon. The food was ok, the service was fine...please communicate better to your patrons. We wouldn't have dallied if we knew what time they closed and when service stopped. We went to Monotony Grill down the street and had a night cap there.

Yelp
Came there Tuesday night after work. Food, ambiance and waitstaff were excellent!! I go there often and am never disappointed!! I highly recommend this restaurant!

K R.

Yelp
We had a lovely meal at the bar with Roberta. She is an excellent bartender from Brazil and a delight to talk with. The salmon dish ordered was presented with lots of color and flavor. The restaurant is a comfortable setting but parking is tough. However that is true for all establishments in the area. We will be back!

Meg C.

Yelp
Came here for dinner before a movie at the Capitol theater across the way - decent pub fare with a lot of options. The space has a clean tavern feel, with some dark pockets and TVs showing sports or the Olympics. We had the salmon tatsoi and grilled shrimp entree and found the portions to be quite generous. The salmon was a bit bland, but cooked well, and the greens and soba had a nice light ginger soy dressing , but I didn't see many veggies or mandarins. The shrimp was coated in a garlic white wine butter sauce on top of a bed of zoodles, which my friend enjoyed. The downside was the service -- the server was friendly, but very spacey and slow. She forgot our drinks twice, and never brought over water after we reminded her, so we were thirsty throughout our meal. We only ordered 2 entrees and 2 drinks and thought we would be in and out under 90 mins. We ended up being there for 2 hours and had to flag the server down to pay our bill and nearly missed our movie. Overall food was decent, but service needs work, I'm not sure I'd return.

Jay M.

Yelp
Very disappointed. Food quality was ok but portion for price was bad. Paid $23 for a "large Caesar salad" with steak. Steak was also ordered medium but came out rare. Photo shows how wimpy this salad was. Will be having a second dinner tonight.

Guli K.

Yelp
Solid option if you are looking for bar food and a casual vibe. Food was good and service attentive. Menu had a couple of interesting options in addition to traditional pub fare. Overall we were excited to find this local spot.

Joy G.

Yelp
Solid food but I wanted to give a shout-out to a fantastic trivia experience! Trivia can be a toss-up. I've gone to others in the Boston area where the questions were impossible (to the point where not a single person got it right) or the sound was deafeningly loud (to the point where my watch registered a dangerously high decibel level and was basically telling me to GTFO to save my hearing). The trivia set-up at Town Tavern was perfect. Three solid rounds of questions, different categories to keep things exciting, a great trivia master. For people with sensitive ears, the noise volume was perfect. I could hear everyone at my table. It was the most fun I had at trivia to date. Food-wise, you can't go wrong with the bar food. Our table split an order of onion rings (really enjoyed the sauce) and my chicken Caesar did the job of making me feel healthy-ish. Which of course I then undid by basically inhaling a slice of the basque cheesecake on my own. Loved the wedge fries here, I may get just an order of that for myself next time. Prices were pretty affordable. For a group of eight that ordered drinks and desserts, the total came out to about $183 before tax/tip.

Jill H.

Yelp
Salad was decent Waiter rushed us out Gave us the check before I was 1/2 done with my salad Very rude He seemed to be in a huge hurry Never asked. Us if we wanted coffee or anything else He really needs to slow down It wasnt that busy that he needed to rush us out

Eduardo N.

Yelp
Very pleasant place, laid back and relaxed friendly vibe. Prices aren't particularly cheap but oh well, this is Arlington so what can you expect. We shared an order of onion rings, which were a generous portion of delicious, wow-you-can-actually-taste-the-onions-not-just-the-batter ones, possibly the best we've had in a long while. My friend got the aspiring-gourmet Town Tavern burger which cost about 30% more than the Five Guys version but well worth it since it appeared like there really was 30-50% more beef, although the condiments and toppings it came with were a bit too sweet (food here seems to lean towards a sweeter palate rather than spicy or savory). Next time I will just get the "Bacon Cheddar" version with mayo and mustard, lettuce/tomatoes/pickles/onions. The big thick fresh cut fries it came with were good too. Speaking of sauces---I made the mistake of ordering the steak tips, which came with what looked and tasted like a fair bit of A-1 on top...a VERY bad sign whenever getting steak of any kind. This usually portends that the meat is not very good quality and probably neither is the cooking, hence they aren't confident enough to serve it without dousing it in sauce. And sadly, that indeed was the case: meat was flavorless and almost rubbery in texture, requiring a fair bit of elbow grease to cut into smaller more chewable chunks. I've had better steak tips in diners, FFS. Ergo, this is not a dish I would ever recommend or order again next time I come here. So we do plan to come back, namely for the pleasant environment, and the beer on tap was pretty decent (although I had to ask specifically for "your strongest IPA" because the server was sure I wouldn't like it and kept recommending the bland watered down pseudo-IPAs instead). Rest of the menu looks fairly safe, I guess we will stick to the bar food classics, i.e. the fried chicken sandwiches, pastrami, etc.---dishes simple enough so that they hopefully cannot and will not be effed up unlike those unfortunate steak tips. Fingers crossed! 3 and 1/2 stars.

Tracy F.

Yelp
Came here for brunch birthday drinks and apps. We sat at the area behind the bar and had a blast. The mimosas were on point and the beer was cold. I would recommend coming here and enjoying your day with great food and drinks. Pictures attached. Thanks guys for the great food, drinks and service!

Nala W.

Yelp
Went here with my partner today for lunch. First time trying it out and we loved it! He got a cheeseburger & fries, and I got the penne pasta with garlic butter (it did come with sauteed chicken tenders-- I didn't really like them though; I misread the menu and thought they were crispy/fried). Other than that, the food was great! I wanted to especially highlight the french fries-- they're hand-cut in a very flat/wide shape, and they were DELICIOUS. perfectly seasoned, and very crispy. I want to come back here just for the fries-- they're THAT GOOD. My pasta was good, lunch portion was a good size. Service was great, our server was attentive and the food came out quickly. We both really want to come back on Tuesday night for trivia!!

Yelp
This is a neighborhood gem that has been revitalized by the current owner. Firstly, the place is spotless, and you can see staff attending to cleanliness regularly- sweeping, mopping and cleaning tables. A+ The atmosphere is old school pub/bar/restaurant with various micro environments lol! No seriously you can feel like you're in a bar, at a sidewalk bistro or a relaxing restaurant. All the food we tried was great and generous and well priced. We took guests and everyone cleaned their plates and raved! We especially love the turkey tips and steak tips with mashies and their signature potato "flag" which is like a giant potato chip. Scoop up your potatoes with more potatoes?!?! Yes please. We also like the chicken which can be made buffalo and the dumplings, and the options for sides of basmati rice. They have a way with potatoes, and the french fries are sooooo good and perfect. Also great desserts. We loved the carrot cake and ice cream and can't wait to try the basque cheesecake next time. My friends enjoyed the salmon plate and pulled pork Sammy. My absolute fave thing about this place is their hyper responsible alcohol consumption "policy": they will not serve you more than four drinks, and if you order a third, you have to order food with it. This prevents it from being a barfly hangout and contributes to an awesome, friendly, convivial atmosphere.

Dan C.

Yelp
Great food, great service. We sat at the bar for dinner, the place was busy but the food came out quickly and my Cuban was delicious.

Ian B.

Yelp
Tremendous food, great and attentive service, solid beer and wine selection. We really enjoyed every part of our meals. The three of us had a Cubano sandwich, the penne with chicken, and fish and chips, all very nicely done and good sized portions. If this were in Chula Vista we would be there all the time. Comfortable seating as well and nice atmosphere. There was literally nothing about this place that disappointed.

T H.

Yelp
We usually eat at Town Tavern a few times every month and it is consistently great! I love all of the sandwiches there, but usually order their Tavern burger or fried chicken sandwich because they are both over the top delicious. They also have the best fries that are plank shaped, with a tasty seasoning and always nice and crispy. Besides the food, I've had many yummy cocktails there and the service is always excellent and staff is super friendly. I highly recommend a visit!

Josh W.

Yelp
Town Tavern in Arlington never disappoints!! Their menu has so many great options, you really can't go wrong! I went with their La Moca mixed drink, BBQ honey hot boneless wings, fried chicken sandwich, and town tavern burger! Couldn't have asked for anything better, and I was very happy with this Arlington staple!!

Nick G.

Yelp
Excellent food, service was pretty good as well, timely. Ordered the tavern burger and fries, a little greasy but overall an excellent meal.

Ian P.

Yelp
This is one of my go-to places for lunch. Attentive service and comfortable interior. Some favorites: Tavern Stir Fry; Ragin Cajun; Beer Work Tips; and the Salmon. Have loved all of their soups!

Sharon K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place after a walk and were pleasantly surprised. The vibe is definitely a restaurant bar/pub vibe so if you're looking for somthing fancy, this isn't the spot. The drinks were great and the Rajun Cajun was delightfully flavorful. Major plus that there were a ton of dogs in the outside patio (pet friendly ). Cheesecake for dessert was subpar. Definitely a spot to hit this summer! Kambo approved

A M.

Yelp
Love the chicken sandwich and fries here! Great neighborhood spot. Great place to bring the family or casual date night. I think they have live music in the summer months and outdoor seating.

John T.

Yelp
Had a good meal before a movie across the street. Got the dumpling app. We both thought they were very good. Just could have been more than 4. I got the fish sandwich. It was average. She got the chicken bao. She said she liked it. Service was good. Space was nice.

Robert M.

Yelp
The Town Tavern hosted a bereavement luncheon for us (45 people) that exceeded our expectations. First everyone ordered off the menu and the kitchen nailed it. Everything from appetizers to mains came out scratch made and delicious! Special recognition to the bacon brussels sprouts, cheese balls, fried oyster mushrooms, and wings appetizers! The mains were equally good with the salmon, beef tips, fish and chips, and Tavern burger drawing high praise. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure everyone had what they wanted quickly. Enough cannot be said about the owner, Bootsie. I approached him by long distance phone (we live in Michigan) to see if he could be to handle our meal. He said no problem, when and how many and he would handle the rest. We can't thank him enough for providing a respite in a difficult day. Arlington, you are lucky to have this neighborhood restaurant that serves up excellent scratch made food, great cocktails and beers, with friendly staff. PS My wife and I went back the next night for dinner. The food and staff were just as good. Thanks again Bootsie!

Sarah T.

Yelp
Solid choice if you order the burger. Better seating if you make a reservation. Service is usually good. But one time we asked them to change the tv channel as The Meg movie was on and the kids were scared. They said no it was on that channel for the game (which was still more than an hour away). In the end they did change it because more little kids were seated in the area.

Seyyide S.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Patio seating in the summer. Varied menu. Some special events.

Barbara D.

Yelp
I had been to Town Tavern previously, but was really not happy with the experience this time. I had made a reservation for 5 pm on Saturday. It took a while to be seated. I had trouble finding anyone to seat us and noticed that they were having a staff meeting. There were 6 of us and they wanted to seat us at a cramped high top table. I asked if we could sit in one of the other tables where there was more room. (There were many tables open.) The host said he would check. He then came back 5 minutes later and said no. We had ordered appetizers. When the food came out for our entree they had not cleared the appetizer plates yet. We had no room for any of the food and were scrambling to accommodate. Several of us were not happy with our dinners. The Chicken Boa had a fishy flavor. The Tavern-5 sandwich was very dry. The Fattoush salad had a very bland vinaigrette. The fries were good, but that was it. I won't be coming back.

Lucy P.

Yelp
This is a reliable place to eat for good food. I've enjoyed every dish I've eaten here from burgers to pasta to chicken dishes and the service is always good and friendly. The interior is clean and up to date. I've been happy every time I've eaten here. There's never a long wait and eating inside and outside are both great.

Cheryl F.

Yelp
Fun neighborhood spot especially on Tuesday nights for Trivia. I usually get the appetizers and french fries which are very good with a cold beer. Good service.

Joanie W.

Yelp
My husband and me go here once a week. Great specials, I normally love the soup too! Currently dieting and given it's from scratch cooking they are great about modifying my meal for me. Staff are friendly and will chat if you're in the mood to socialize . Lots of tv's, good music and regulars. Great for groups too!

Jerry C.

Yelp
We went here last night and unlike some had a pretty good meal. While we might have enjoyed the outdoor seating, only inside tables were available. However the place has large openings to let the summer air in. Our service was friendly and responsive. The Caesar salad with chicken was ok and I appreciated the splitting. The Mongolian French Dip was tasty with just the right amount of spiciness. Portions were a bit smaller than average and pricing was on par with Boston- but high for this area. The beer menu was over-priced. 3.5 stars.

David L.

Yelp
I recently hosted a customer event at Town Tavern in Arlington, and it was a fantastic experience! The food was delicious and the drinks were excellent. The owner, Bootsy Mullen, and the attentive staff provided exceptional service throughout the event, ensuring that my guests had a memorable time. I highly recommend the Town Tavern for events or even a casual dinner with friends and family. The menu offers a wide variety of options to cater to different tastes. It's conveniently located in Arlington's Capitol Square and is a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. Whether you're planning a special occasion or simply looking for a great dining spot, Town Tavern is a must-visit in Arlington.

Manuel R.

Yelp
Good, sad plis, reliable quality. Service bb is always excellent. Their bar needs more variety and quality, especially whiskeys (American, Irish, scotch -especially single malts -. But menu (though limited) is usually quite good. This is not a fancy restaurant, but rather an excellent neighborhood establishment. Owner/ manager always around and greets customers -especially regulars like me.

Paul D.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday night. Been wanting to try this place out for a few years. Had a little wait, no big deal. Ordered a salad with blue cheese dressing. Very fresh and well made salad. I would just order a side of extra blue cheese next time as there was not a lot of dressing mixed in. Ordered the fried haddock sandwich. Probably the best sandwich I have ever had in my life. Buttered brioche bun added great flavor. Good tarter sauce on the side. Fries were really good, too. Thick, steak fries style. Will definitely be back at least once a month from now on.

Kelly B.

Yelp
The burger was not as amazing as it was last time. Something about it was different but I couldn't pinpoint it. It was still yummy but it was missing the sauce or something. One flavor was missing and I feel like it was the sauce. The service was super blah. No one checked on after we got our drinks. No one checked on us after we got our food. They brought appetizers out with food and forgot a dish. Really not great service at all. The place isn't cheap. I would expect better service.

Bob L.

Yelp
Came here based on the photos of their burgers and fried chicken sandwich alone and boy they did NOT disappoint! Items ordered: Tavern Taquitos - $12 as of 8/2019. Excellent flavor and very fresh. Unfortunately for $12 I hoped there would be a few more than just 2 whole pieces. Small Caesar salad - $6 as of 8/2019. Not bad though nothing special. I would personally pass on this in the future. Tavern burger - $16 as of 8/2019. Now we're talking. The brioche bun goes great with the bacon, Gruyere cheese and mushrooms. A bit pricey at $16 but the taste is something to compliment. Fried Chicken sandwich - $14 as of 8/2019. Also extremely good. The battery was extremely crispy and the chicken was flavorful and tender. A definite must have. The two mains we had came with steak fries which were delightfully crispy and not over salted! Served in mini fry baskets which was an aesthetically pleasing touch. If only there were more... Overall we'll definitely be back for the chicken sandwich and burger alone and I advise you do the same!

Lisa T.

Yelp
Excellent Cubano sandwich! Waiter was really attentive and friendly. Definitely would go again.

Judy D.

Yelp
What a fine! Love the old building with all the charm inside. Service so friendly and helpful. Got the chicken bao. Got fries instead of rice per waitress suggestion. Fries were amazing so recommend the same. Omg sooo good. Others got the soup, shrimp poppers and chicken ceaser salad. No complaints from anyone! I don't live here but if I did I would be a regular. Only downfall and no parking. It's probably like that wherever you go.

Andrew C.

Yelp
I love their burger here. Once the weather gets better, you might want to reserve a spot for dinner. Great gastro pub in the Arlington area. Low key, friendly, and casual service. Great place to catch some good bites, grab some drinks, and watch a game. COVID-19 review: Outdoor dining is open, limited inside seating if your risk tolerance is okay with that, and takeout is still an option. Inside seating does have spaced out seats and some 4 tops outside.

Tracilee T.

Yelp
Just moved to the area and we found our new pub! Amazing food!!! Not typical pub food... they have your pub fare, but they also have some amazing menu options.... The chicken bao knocked my socks off.... Pair that with their summerita drink and I am good for the week. Will be coming back again and again! I only wish they were open later than 9;00.

Roberto S.

Yelp
Bar food. Works. Tries a little too hard to pretend it's not a tavern but the beer is cold.

Dil S.

Yelp
Finally sat down here and was not disappointed. Plenty of room during weekend brunch. Bao, burger, sandwich, poppers, taquitos, dumplings, wings, and salmon were all great. It's like a better Cheesecake Factory with all the variety while keeping the quality.

Chaya B.

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow!!! So many wonderful surprises! I had the crispy chicken. Perfectly tender, crunchy on this pillowy soft bun. Hand cut fries, perfectly seasoned. We also tried the broccolini pasta with chicken. Also cooked tender and not dry at all. I have been looking for a new place, I was hesitant at first 'cause it's so far away, but delivery was on time. The best part is no styrofoam containers. Can't wait to order again!!! P.S interesting choices for vegan options that too!!!

Jordan R.

Yelp
Very tasty, very unique, and the dining room was beautiful and airy back in the summer!

Juliet K.

Yelp
I'm not sure why I haven't written a review yet for Town Tavern. I've been enough times to be familiar with the menu. The offerings are both creative and approachable, as well as moderately priced. I usually get some kind of tricked out salad (salmon tatsoi is delish), while my husband gets a steak dish of sorts. My son feels that the kids chicken tenders are second to none. Also, the fries are cut thick and are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside like a steak fry should be. The restaurant itself is relatively large for an older New England building. There's outdoor seating during warmer months, live music sometimes, and they can accommodate private events. The Tavern has been a welcome addition to the community in general and the people of Arlington are so glad to call it our own.

Melissa P.

Yelp
Horrible service. If I could give zero stars I would. 20 minutes after we sat down someone took our drink order. And so on. Ordering was like pulling teeth. Beers weren't full pours We asked to be moved outside once an outside table opened up. And then we watched folks who arrived after we did be seated at outdoor tables. We were never offered an outdoor table. We tried ordering hummus. We were told there was so hummus. Then we watched other folks be served hummus. Frites were just fries. Fried oyster mushrooms were great. But drinks and condiments showed up too late to be useful. And no. It wasn't busy. And yes. Enough people were working. It just seemed like working was too much of a bother. We won't be back. Too bad. We used to love this place.

Lindsay H.

Yelp
I've come to realize you don't go out to eat in Arlington. I ordered a burger medium, and it came out well done and terrible. The portion of fries was small. There were 8 fries total, and they were over salted. My husband got the fish and chips again super small portions. We left hungry. Service was great, prompt and polite.

C B.

Yelp
Food and service are great! Prices reasonable. However, I wanted to comment on their packaging and take out. They do an outstanding job to protect not only the environment but humans as well. On a recent take out order, it was packaged in environmental and human friendly packaging. A+ for spending the time and money to not only buy people friendly containers without chemicals (especially when hot food is put in them) but also wrapping the food in wax paper to keep it fresh. Amazing! Horrible when food is wrapped in aluminum which has been linked to Alzheimer's.

Nathan P.

Yelp
Solid burger and fries. Their chicken sandwich is also pretty good. I've only had carryout here .

Darrell B.

Yelp
This is my Go-To place for comfort food. I ordered the fish and chips and it was phenomenal. Huge portions and the fries were crispy, salty and delicious!! I have never had a bad meal here. Never a mediocre meal here either. It's exceptional!! I highly recommend!! I usually order take out, but when I call it sounds like a place I want to be. I highly recommend. Definitely an Arlington gem. I've ordered almost everything on the the menu, and it was was terrific. The staff are friendly and courteous. I have never had a bad meal or experience here...I highly recommend.
