Google
Shady as hell. Two beers and an order of mini corndogs was $35, during happy hour! I had to ask for an itemized receipt to see that the bartender had already included 20% and was still trying to finesse another tip out of me. Never going back. Do not recommend.

Google
Didn’t eat, but they have fancy ketchup. Played nothing but bangers. And I know bangers.

Google
This place is down to Earth forreal probably my favorite spot on the strip staff excellent I have no complaints great music great atmosphere chill very welcoming environment

Google
Ordered chicken and fries at the bar when the bartender gave me the bill it was $30, and he included 20% gratuity. I immediately asked to cancel the order when he told me the kitchen had already started preparing it. It wasn't even two minutes after I placed the order. Never coming back!

Google
This is an amazing place to be at on that Friday night where you wanna have a fun time. I was thrown a surprise birthday party here and the owner was nothing but gracious (pun intended) and easy to work with. She made sure that all of the details, supplies and everything that was needed was in place. The prices are fair (especially being in Adam's Morgan), the food is great, and the service is top notch. I would not hesitate in going here. Book your uber/lyft and head there ASAP! Throw your parties! You won't regret it.

Google
This place is different in its decor than traditional Japanese restaurants. But the food was excellent and the service was great. Recommend the Yakimeshi with steak

Patti Gunn

Google
What a lovely place! India was a great bartender and had really good food recommendations and we had a great meal.

Google
It's fine for a typical dive bar. Be aware that they add in 20% gratuity regardless.

Yelp
Bartender is a good guy. Uk wildcats bar but not fr. Still a great bar and yummy food. Veggie burger option too

Yelp
It is what it's is!! I go here often when I'm in Adam's Morgan.. straight to the point! I wanna have a good time.. Either it's watching the game or just throwing back some shot!! Bartender Desmond is a well rounded guy.. he does the job and beyond! Music is also good.. I've had some of there chicken tenders and fries.. I'm a older cat so coming here feels like college days lol
google avatar

Shari D.

Yelp
Stopped by for the second time and was just as enjoyable as the very first time! Great selection of music and a very appealing menu. Settled at the bar so we could watch the game, and enjoyed the service! The chicken tender basket was tasty and the old bay fries were even tastier! Great atmosphere for a few drinks and a damn good time!

Yelp
Located in Adams Morgan... We came here to watch the 49er game today. It was great! We enjoyed the great service. The upstairs was dedicated to niner fans who want to watch the game. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, especially the staff. Cheers to them. We weren't really hungry as we had had brunch before coming but we did order a basket of fries and they did not disappoint. They had the perfect amount of seasoning. Parking: I highly recommend using public transportation or Uber. We took Uber and it was fairly inexpensive.

Yelp
Great customer service, fantastic food options, parking spaces and reasonable prices. I would go back

Yelp
I ended up in adams Morgan with friends from out of town one weekend and decided to make the best of our circumstances when we couldn't get an Uber and ultimately went to the local bar that ended up being our favorite place of the weekend, town tavern! Town tavern had music going that made our day and a staff that was even more delightful! Top notch service from everyone, especially the manager of the night, Wes! He made us feel welcome and like we were meant to be there - the thing we needed most at that point! Thank you town tavern and wes for the great experience and fun night :)

Yelp
Came to watch a friend host a comedy show, and had a pretty good time. Fun local artists in an intimate setting upstairs. Bartenders were nice and attentive - and drinks were strong. The downstairs bar seemed to be hoppin by the time we left. Overall good time.
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
Average dirty, sticky, and young bar in Admo. Don't expect much except for a drink and you're fine. When it's busy you'll have to wait but it's fine just enjoy the music.

Yelp
A bar that cares! completely forgot to take food pics, had the tots they were great! but the reason why i forgot was because the owner? Manager? Gracie had noticed i wasnt in a good mood and took the time to come over to me check on me ask me about my day and give me some 5 star advice , rarely do places do this and or rarely do they mean it - care enough! and that interaction alone is why im jumping in with the 5 stars and coming back for sure. There were two other bartenders on staff at the time too so its not like I wasnt being taken care of, which really told/ showed me that Gracie was genuinely concerned

Yelp
A joke. I have never been insulted like I was at The Town Tavern. Just do not go there. Bad service and a rip off. The owner is rude and a thief. I was walking by during one of the big neighborhood parties and went in. It seemed like it was pretty chill up at the bar. This was where everyone was. I got the Blue Margarita because it was happy hour and it was $5 cocktails. This was clearly on the cocktail menu. I think it was the owner that was at the bar. This was the guy that's surrounded by the women in the top picture. Mister owner went and made my drink. Too much in the blender, so he gave the excess to someone else for free. He in some capacity thought this was appropriate. When it came time to pay, I was stunned when he told me it was $12 for that mediocre drink that I didn't even get all of. I payed and then left surprisingly without cussing him out, which I would have done except that it seemed everyone at the bar was his friend so it could have ended up bad. Payed exactly that amount, and no tip for jackass. I would advise you to not go to this bar. Owner cares only about his friends and gives away drinks to them while ripping you off. The guy I think is the owner anyway but I'm not sure.

Sarah K.

Yelp
The bartender was very rude the entire night. If you buy a wristband for the open bar expect the drinks to be watered down, and no beer or wine options.

Trippy K.

Yelp
The staff is kind and inviting. The bartenders are skillful. The atmosphere is cozy. I have no idea why people are hating on them. I had a lovely experience.

Yelp
Since moving to DC, this has has become our favorite local bar. The owner and entire staff are extremely welcoming, friendly, & tentative!! The music is always good and if you don't like it, they make an effort to change it. The bar gives a family feel while promoting a good time for any party! They are LGBTQ & BLM supportive and just all around good people with happy/good vibes! All of the clientele is super welcoming as well. It makes a statement when the owner of a business makes a point to talk and get to know its customers & that's exactly what happens at the Town Tavern. Even the entire staff are just as welcoming and attentive!

John B.

Yelp
No longer a Warriors bar, they don't have league pass. Seemed like an otherwise decent bar

Yelp
Town Tavern is located amidst the chaos of the Adams Morgan strip. Wonderful location for a night of drinking and dancing but minus the crowds! Town Tavern has a very cool bar that has a new age vibe and an old school feel. It's old on the outside but fresh on the inside. On a weekend night, expect some loud and current music. Mostly bops. With a younger crowd. Town Tavern also has a pretty lit menu to choose from if your hungry. DC wise the prices are a damn steal! You can get burgers, fries, tots, etc without taking out a second mortgage! If you're hungry, indulgence honey. You won't regret the credit card statement reflection the next day! Drink wise, think standard bar. There's really great specials for game days. College games seem to have deeper discounts. But tonight they had $5 well drinks for no reason! So come on out and check out the Town vibe. They never overcrowd, so it's a nice breather in between clubby places!

Yelp
We went to this location to see the Diva Royal drag show. We purchased VIP tickets for the show. I received a message that the show was canceled for Friday. We changed our plans to attend the next evening Saturday and I WISH we had canceled our reservation. After spending 126.50 for 2 tickets and after having a 2 drink minimum for an additional 40 dollars, we were really disappointed. First, there was no difference for the VIP section than the other patrons who paid much less. The show was in the upstairs of the Town Tavern, a very dark, dirty, crowded room. We could see the queens change their clothing behind a bed sheet at one end of the stage. The prerecorded music was broadcast on a very poor sound system. I Would NOT recommend this venue. This is not worth the nearly 200 dollars spent

Yelp
Came here for their comedy night! The comedians had varying levels, but mostly fun. The bar itself is a bit divey-ish, so stick tables and such.

Yelp
Yaaaas. Love this place. I'm being bias because I went here when they were serving Harry Potter drinks and had Harry Potter decorations galore. Loved everything about this place the night I went. The drinks were yummy but a tad too strong, and the bartenders were cool. The setup inside was cool, even without the Harry Potter decorations. It's two floors. The first floor has a long bar with booths and a dj area (I think), and the second place has a small bar in the front and back, restrooms in the middle, and a small stage by the front bar.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for the first time because I was Christmas caroling with District Music Project. I had so much fun! I had a cheeseburger with waffle fries and beer. They have creative cocktails, too, but I felt like going with something straightforward this time. Overall, I had a great time here. I recommend going with friends. The prices are reasonable. The service was polite, as were the other patrons. I couldn't necessarily tell that this was supposed to be a Harry Potter-themed bar until I went downstairs to the restrooms, but that didn't detract from the experience.
google avatar

Arasely M.

Yelp
This place is disgusting and dirty. The alcohol is low quality!!! The restrooms are so dirty and the people who work there are so unbelievably unprofessional

Yelp
Just visited this spot on Sunday and had such a lovely time, all of the staff is very friendly and attentive! Carl was behind the bar serving, he was so sweet and made sure we were taken care of. 10 out of 10 for Carl. The music fit the vibe very well and I love that they play a variety of music to keep it lively. They also have some cool lighting for nighttime vibe. Me and my partner also had the pleasure of meeting Joe and Rach who are currently working on opening As You Are, an upcoming queer cafe/nightlife. They were both great to talk to and so happy we have people like them working hard to bring the community together! Cant wait to support and we will be back for the other pride nights taking place every Sunday :) also I recommend getting the SMORES! Loved that they were served in a bowl, so yummy. Even ordered some to go.

Yelp
The Town Tavern is the place to drink on Friday's because it's all you can drink domestic bottles and mixed rails from 9-11pm for only $10. That's definitely a great deal because each beer is about $8/glass. For draft beers, they feature Guinness, Yuengling, Shock Top, Sam Adams, Angry Orchard, Goose Island IPA, Stella Artois, and Bud Light. For bottled beers, they feature Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Corona, Anchorsteam, and Regatta Ginger. If you aren't a beer drinker, they also have a few specialty cocktails.

Dynise B.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday at 3pm. Employees were very friendly and wore mask. There is a sign in sheet if you want COVID-19 updates and contact tracing. It was a nice and relax bar, good loud music, good food.

Shannon J.

Yelp
Do not support their business!!! I don't mind grimy sports bars with not stellar drinks- that's actually my preferred atmosphere. The environment is what you would expect for a neighborhood standard American bar. My issue is that they are dishonest. I ordered a few things and closed my tab each time, looked at the receipt and did not see tip included, so assumed that the difference from the menu price was tax and gave the standard 20% tip. A friend told me that 20% was included even though it wasn't listed in the receipt you sign for a credit card. I checked with the bartender and she said that it's because college students who go don't tip. I asked to see the receipt again so she could point out tip and it was 4 sheets down on an entirely different document. I don't have issue with 20% tip minimum- I have an issue with the dishonesty to get people to actually tip 40% when they don't realize it. Disclose your costs! This is actually absurd.

Sesii a.

Yelp
Please don't take anyone that's not American, the manager clearly said we can't get served cause one of our friend has non U.S passport.we tried to explain that she was visiting and has a U.S visa on it he didn't even want to hear us out there is no such a law.

Yelp
This is one if not my Friday night go to spot! They are located towards the bottom of Adams Morgan but they are worth the walk! If you want a safe, fun, no pressure , come as you are atmosphere this is the place for you! The also have a DJ in Friday's so you can get your groove on or scoot about in your chair! I have noticed they do have some " HARRY POTTER" theme nights,& drinks. If that's your thing come on down and get a wizardly inspired drink with a light up cube and all! There are two floors so there is plenty of room for you to move about! Make sure you see Des at the bar he will def get you where you want to be! You can catch the other such as Gracie out and about showing you love for coming in! There are multiple reasons why I choose Town Tavern, affordable, easy, good time,& hospitality! It is a rare to get all of those in a bar!!! Stop by and if you see me say Hi!!! :-)

Yelp
I've been here twice now Snd well after the last time I should really post this. There's an Asian bartender who tends bar and another girl. Both times he just kind a give me weird looks and a very very short when I order. The last time I was there I was asked to get off the bar and sit at a table so that she can talk to one of her friends who came there and they both smirked and looked at me weird. And then when I got the bill I realized I was charged for drinks that I did not order and paid an extra $10 because she kept saying that I ordered three drinks when I only ordered two drinks. The only thing I can think of that would cause this type of treatment is the fact that I am Middle Eastern and every other time that I've been somewhere and gotten these dirty types of looks for absolutely no reason before I even open my mouth is because of some racist who wants to treat me differently because I'm not white. Oh and the place always smells badly like they never clean the bar area.

M W.

Yelp
Many establishments are trying their best to transition out of the Covid shut down as well as they can and many of us understand that there are some growing pains to be expected. This said, this should not be an excuse for poor etiquette when serving guest. Please note that it is petty, tasteless, and tacky to put a 20% gratuity on a check that consists of two drinks. You truly block your blessings this way. Also, when a customer says that they don't want to start a tab, give them their bill don't shout out "a total."
google avatar

Zoya F.

Yelp
Way overpriced, especially for the recent Harry Potter event. I can't believe I paid $20 per person to access a slightly decorated upstairs and some Costco-quality baked goods. Drinks were very expensive even after paying the cover fee. I'll try a different event next Halloween. I was disappointed that the staff didn't start the event on time or stick to the timetable outlined at the door. My friend and I had to leave before the hat sorting event started.

Courtney B.

Yelp
I'm newish to the city, and I went on a first date here. I picked it cause I live in the area and wanted to be close to home. But I am so glad I came here! At one point when my date went to the restroom, the bartender checked on me, he could tell it was a first date, and just wanted to make sure I was comfortable and told me to make a sign if I needed to get out of it or anything. I can't tell you how grateful that made me! As a single woman in the city alone, it is so nice to know I have a place I can go and feel safe, even on a first date! I honestly think I've talked about that more than I have the actual date with my friends. Will definitely be going here regularly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for any single ladies out there dating and nervous about it.
google avatar

Greg A.

Yelp
I never eat here because typically drinking helps any appetite. But I always have a ball. I always end up winning a two hour all you can drink open bar and not... I know the bartenders. Get "the green drink" special. And Jameson shots are a must. Only downfall I would say is even a Friday can be packed...or quiet depending on the season. Philanthropy nights are great to support local businesses.
google avatar

Hall W.

Yelp
So apparently this is the trendy Harry Potter themed bar (at least for now)... but ultimately when it comes to bar fundamentals, it is barely okay: 1. Overly priced drinks - $16 for goblet of fire... that aren't anything special 2. Poorly synchronized wait staff (when I was there they were training each other on how to operate the counter rather than serving a long line of people). I mean, it has potential to be a cool place... but given their crazy drink offerings and poor service... I might step in here once with a friend (if the friend demands... but pass in general)
google avatar

Adam F.

Yelp
Love Town Tavern! Had my birthday celebration there and it was SOOOO fun. Booking was seamless and the owner Gracie, manager Carl and bartender Forrest are some of the friendliest folks I know. Also LOVE the Harry Potter theme! 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Räsmeét K.

Yelp
This place is so much fun. I highly recommend it. They have a Harry Potter trivia night every Tuesday & the drinks are also Harry Potter theme which makes it so much fun for Harry Potter fan. Definitely come check it out, our waiter Carl was awesome.

Molly M.

Yelp
Women's bathroom was SPOTLESS, SO CLEAN! Also Carl the server is so cool and we dearly love him! Defo give Town Tavern a chance, it's a GEM!

Bree C.

Yelp
The owner is really rude to women. I was standing at the bar talking to a friend when she literally got in the middle of us (not wearing a mask, which seemed off for a restaurant worker) and started telling me he has a girlfriend. She then pretended she didn't hear me when I tried to order a drink and told her other bartender, who is also a friend of mine, to get it for me. I watched it happen. It was very strange. Not only was it not her business who converses with me, but it was oddly and unnecessarily accusatory. Even if there had been weirdness going on, it felt very much like a high school locker room confrontation. Not sure if she's threatened by other women or what was going on, but it's unfortunately consistent with other reviews.
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
Unassuming look bar from the outside, but pretty cool on the inside. Definitely a dive bar if I've ever seen one! The employees were all friendly, it was dark and loud, string lights from wall to wall, and rowdy hockey fans... Definitely my kind of scene! Once the hockey game was over and everybody was depressed, the music started. It's loud, and it's more often than not going to be rap. So if that's not your scene, maybe skip Town Tavern and head to the next bar. We only ordered Bud Light so I can't say much for the food and cocktails.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
A friend and I came here to check out the Harry Potter-themed bar. Sadly, it was a huge disappointment! We came on a Saturday afternoon, but when we arrived there was barely any Harry Potter theming at all, such that we couldn't even tell we were at the right place. We were told that the upstairs had more theming, but that the upstairs wasn't open when we went. The website didn't say that themed portion of the bar was only open at certain times or that only part of the bar was themed. Instead, the bottom level that we saw just was a divey sportsbar complete with a very sticky floor! There were some Harry Potter-themed drinks on the menu, but the back of the bar was so hot and had zero air conditioning or air flow that ultimately we decided it wasn't worth staying. To say we were underwhelmed and disappointed was an understatement!

Yelp
*Review For The Harry Potter Tavern Only* The Town Tavern is hosting a "Harry Potter Tavern" throughout the month of October. Being the die hard Harry Potter fan that I am I knew I needed to stop by. We arrived on a Wednesday night and there was no line to get in and no cover-major plus! Once we got in we saw a Honey Dukes counter but it was closed and stocked seemed almost empty. We went upstairs and we're pretty impressed with the decorations. Quidditch rings, sorting hat, Hogwarts Express, and house flags were very noticeable. The other noticeable thing were the people. They were everywhere and you could hardly move. There's a bar upstairs as well but it was pretty packed. I'm sure during normal business it's more accessible but not when we went. We decided to go back downstairs to the bar and it was even more packed. There were three bar tenders when we went and they were overwhelmed. With no rhythm or reason to who they served next it made for long lines and people were frustrated. The drinks looked pretty awesome so we continued to wait. We went with The Goblet of Fire and a Polly Juice. It broke my heart and wallet when we got the total... $30! These people have lost their damn minds and I wish I knew how much they were ahead of time. ((There's no prices on the drink menu.)) We tried to find a table but everything was packed. It seems like you can reserve a table in advance but I have no idea how. We finally decided to stand and drink due to the lack of space. The drinks were SO bad, one sip in and I didn't want another. It honestly tasted like freshman year and regret. With awful drinks and an over crowded bar I instantly wanted to leave. We started chatting with the people next to who had ordered some different drinks than we did. They also hated them, they told us the Butter Beer literally tasted like straight liquor. What a buzzed buzz kill. The overall impression I got from the Harry Potter Tavern was rushed and not thought through. The decor could've been better downstairs and the drinks... eek. The were extremely under staffed and unable to really manage the crowd. As I said before, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I have zero interest in coming back during this event. I haven't even recommended it to my friends.

Yelp
Dear Town Tavern, Thank you for helping this lost homesick Filipino Bay Area Kid transition into this amazing city called DC. From the Bay Area to DC, I didn't know if I could wear any of my SF team gear or cheer in my own home, but after I found you, everything changed. Without you, I don't know where else I would watch Warriors, 49ers, and Giants games, without you, I don't know where I could get such good prices on happy hour drinks and bar bites, open bar on Saturdays from 8-10, and meet up with an awesome crowd of loving Bay Area fans and friends, without you, I just don't know what I would do to celebrate a great year for Bay Area teams. Thank you Town Tavern for creating this perfect space for me to be myself and be a fan that doesn't need to hide, but can celebrate in PRIDE. THANK YOU!!!
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
If you don't got a bae, at least you can get a BAB (Bay Area Bar)! DC is such a transient place and it's nice to have a bar where all the guests share the same interests as you, specifically meaning: the Giants, the 49ers, and the Warriors. Throw in some "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey and it pretty much feels like HOME. Aside from the Bay Area lovin' this bar gets, it's nice inside although shot$ can be a bit pricey. Town Tavern, thanks for being the spot to be at when the Warriors won the NBA Championship this past week :) #WeBelieve!

Yelp
Bar service is not the friendliest. The bartender didn't want to give my girlfriend a chaser for the shot I had bought her. He pointed to the cocktail she was nursing and dismissively said "just drink that" and proceeded to walk away from us. Mind you, it was my friend's birthday and she had coordinated with the staff to have her party there. Her pink wristband got her free drinks, but we were actually purchasing drinks for her. The bar was making money and we still received unfriendly service throughout the night. At LEAST be nice to the birthday girl! But anyways, to add some substance to this review... the gummy bear shots were pretty good ($8). Black label ($10). Bathrooms were clean. But don't expect friendly bar service.

Briana T.

Yelp
I came during COVID. 3pm on a Sunday and sat outside on the front patio area. They allowed me to bring my small dog! From the moment I was welcomed in, I received the best customer service. Forrest and Carl were te workers that helped us out. They had great attitudes, were able to recommend good drinks, and really just genuinely enjoyed their jobs. I would definitely come back just to be waited on by then. I ordered Buffalo wings, and old bay wings. They were good. For drinks, I had some sort of vodka lemonade (taste great) and a bay-b margarita. Also great. Recommended by forest we got an amaretto sour (I think that's what it was called) it was SUPER good. I did not go inside so I'm not sure what that was like. But I really appreciated coming to this place and receiving this type of customer service.

Yelp
I was here for the Saturday night all-you-can-drink special from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, so I can't comment on other events they may have, but I did enjoy my time here. My roommate told me that there was a dive bar that had a $10, two hour open bar for rails and domestics, and I was sold. We grabbed a few friends to join us for the Saturday night special, and got there around 8:15. It was not super crowded, and once we paid for our wristbands (cash only) we found seats and went to get our rail drinks. The bartender was on top of things, and got them to very quickly. Fast drinks continued throughout the night, even though the bar got more and more crowded, which I appreciated. The drink quality did slightly vary- some weren't very strong, some rum and cokes didn't come with lime while others did, etc. However, we still all felt like we were able to get our money's worth and didn't mind the slight variations. I also tried the tater tots, and while they weren't the greatest ones I've ever had, they were the perfect accompaniment for unlimited booze. All in all, I think if your expectations are reasonable, you'll really enjoy this dive bar. I'll definitely come back for the Saturday night special another weekend!

Yelp
The food and drinks here are amazing. A warm and friendly atmosphere. I come here to watch the 49ers games with friends or to pregame before Pitchers or after. Gracie, the owner, is amazing!!

Yelp
Really great wings, really great drinks, and absolutely amazing service! Only thing keeping this review from 5 stars is the slightly high pricing on cocktails and beer relative to what you're getting

Yelp
I love supporting women and minority owned businesses! This place is awesome, and Natalie gives top notch service. Excellent happy hour!

Yelp
I wish I had a picture of the Crab Cake Burger but it's DELICIOUS! It comes with chips. I have had it about three times now.

Yelp
THE ONE AND ONLY ALL SF BAR IN DC!! If you're asking what "SF" is, then you're clearly part of the census rating Town Tavern 3 stars or below. But perhaps it's the hype of my beloved Splash Brothers making the vibe of this place so great, or how the Giants are going to take it to the World Series again (bring it home every 2!!!) Regardless of the season, Town Tavern is an all time feel-good, humble bar. Environment/Service: The crew and I (most of which were not from the bay) came to Town Tavern for Game 3 of the NBA Championships. The place was only 60% full at the end of the first quarter, and only filled to about 80% by the end of the game. The bouncers were hella friendly and the bartenders took good care of you. Drinks: Don't try to get fancy here and order a Boulevardier. They serve pitchers of beer in medium size jugs for a fairly low cost. Kudos to the Bud Light representative for passing out complimentary bottles of BL and cozies to everyone at the bar :) Food: Finger lickin' good. The waffle fries are perfectly crispy and not too heavy. Order yourself a heart attack tater tot tray (my definition of heart attack: stack your tots w/ chilli, cheese, sour cream, guac, bbq sauce and onions)

Yelp
If you're looking for a bar with good food, good bartenders and good music, this is the spot for you! I threw my 30th birthday party here and it couldn't have been better. We were able to do an open bar package, and have a private space from 8-11 PM. The bartenders are knowledgeable and took care of everything & the DJ was great. General Bar Tips: 1-If you don't tip, expect to be served after tipping customers 2-Know your order before flagging down a bartender 3-Bathrooms are available upstairs and downstairs 4-Pay attention to their social media so you know what events are going on - It's a San Francisco bar for pro sports and for college sports its Kentucky. They host game watches so if you're not interested in that, you may want to visit some other time. 5- the patio is dog friendly 6-buffaque wings are ahhhmazing 7-for your birthday they offer you a HH where you get to drink for 3 hours for FREE!
