Yelp
I've been living at the Townsend for a little over a year now (we signed 2 year lease w/ a rider to leave after 18months) and while there are some pros to this place...the cons severely outweigh them.
Pros:
1. Washer and dryer in unit. Super super convenient! I can do laundry whenever I want and I know no one else's dirty clothes have been in there (besides my roommates obv)
2. Ipod dock with speakers throughout your apartment (even in the bathrooms!)
3. Great views from the roof
4. Awesome awesome awesome doormen - especially Julio!
5. Gym has a closing time...but no one ever checks so basically 24/7 gym
Cons:
1. Washer and dryer takes FOR-FREAKIN-EVER. I'm talking about min 3 hours to a do a load, unless you do the quick wash...but that just makes me feel like my washer is half-assing the job. Our washer has also gotten stuck twice...meaning it was on the same cycle for like 8 hours. When I sent in a maintenance request....I was told to "put less clothes in because these are not commercial washers".
2. The super is an ass. My heater wouldn't turn on the day of Snowtober so I put in a maintenance request. He shows up at my door and first thing he says is "what did you do to break it?". I'm pretty easy going so I let it go. Then turns out I didn't do anything and the a/c unit is broken. So he goes and gets another one. While moving my bed to make space to put the new unit in, he drops it, breaks my blinds, knocks ALL of my stuff on my windowsill off and breaks a bunch of my souvenirs from my travels. Instead of apologizing, he had the nerve to say "you have too much stuff" then yells at me for having water near the a/c unit...maybe if you didn't knock my stuff down and break my teapot there wouldn't be any spilled water. Whatever. When he leaves he says "see I fixed everything" and I respond by pointing out all the things he broke that he obviously cannot fix and he LAUGHS...stating my items are insignificant! My parents brought me up to have manners, to give people the benefit of the doubt and to generally try to be a good person....but I was so FREAKING upset...in my most angry and commanding voice (I sound like I am 6 years old), I tell him to apologize to me and in a patronizing tone he says "I apologize". UGH.
3. Everything breaks, there are paint stains everywhere, the materials used are all pretty crappy and cheap. Maybe they should have spent less money on the gigantic useless waterfall (I guess it looks baller/pretty) and more on the other stuff.
4. Management treats you like you're a child. Emails go out at least once a month reminding you to not drink on the roof, to clean up after yourself, to be quiet, to not eat on the roof, to not smoke on the roof, to not throw stuff off the roof.
