Where to Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"It’s always fun at this Downtown Teppanyaki spot where dinner and a show is what it’s about, and New Year’s Eve is no exception. Expect the regular menu served up by entertaining chefs showing off their skills with fire blasts and flipping of shrimps onto diners’ plates." - Erinn Blicher

The food here is great, but it’s not great enough to make it worth the price for me, personally. And I think a lot of people feel similarly because we went on a Saturday night at peak dinner time and it was almost fully empty… It’s really a shame though because that steak and chicken dinner was delicious! But 60$+ per person with the tip and tax, considering it’s just a plate of meat and veggies that someone cooked in front of you, I don’t know if it’s super worth it. Cool experience still.

What a great experience. We went to this restaurant before a Hockey game with the kids. The staff greated us so warmly and verified our vaccination passports and got us seated. After placing our order the chef fairly quickly and started prepping the food. The "show" was great but the food was the star. It was outstanding . The portions are really generous to the point where we didn't even take the ice cream that came with the meal as we were too stuffed . We will definitely be going back !

We got seat at 7pm and we waited for an hour for the server to take order. After placing the order we waited for another 30 mins to get our soup and salad which is unbelievable. The food was over cooked and not seasoned well. Fillet mignon was okay but to be honest nothing worth the calories.

The food was delicious, and the chef who prepared our dinner was really funny. The only downside was that we (2 people) were seated at our table (for our reservation at 7pm) and had to wait until 8pm for the table to fill up. If this has been communicated to us in advance, we would have had no problem arriving later, but unfortunately, it wasn't.

We are late when arrived. But they still gave us good service even it was almost their closing time. Nice customer service. Food tastes good

Toyo Japanese Steakhouse, Montreal: Good Taste, Room for Improvement Toyo Japanese Steakhouse in Montreal, known for its teppanyaki grill bar, offers a decent experience. While the food tastes good, the portions have noticeably reduced and come with a high price tag. The chefs put on an okay show, but seem to be under pressure catering to multiple tables, which impacts the entertainment aspect. Additionally, the service tends to be on the slower side. Overall, it's a satisfactory visit but with notable areas for improvement.

Great experience. Chef was very good and entertaining. Food was cooked the way we wanted (medium steaks). The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The price was very reasonable. Will go back again when we visit the Montreal area.
