The signature bánh bao comes filled with nearly a dozen different stuffings, including the classic with ground pork and hard-boiled egg, barbecue pork, vegetarian, and salted egg yolk." - Cathy Chaplin

Google
The staff was extremely friendly and highly accommodating. The buns tasted like what you would find by the roadside throughout Southeast Asia. I got a box of pork steamed buns with egg yolk for a potluck, and they were gone within minutes. The buns are packed beforehand so customers can grab and go quickly. However, the downside is that they are not warm. I just wish the buns were freshly packed to order from the steamer; that would make them taste even better.

Google
Delicious Vietnamese banh baos. Normally there is a lot of pastry in the baos but these are majority meat filling. I've never seen the fried ones before but they were delicious as well, especially fresh

Anthony Tran (Tony)

Google
Amazing food and even more amazing people. Will definitely be coming back here soon. Would be insane if they had sugarcane juice here too!

Google
My girlfriend and I happened upon this place a few weeks ago. The first time we each got one bao, the next time two each, and then the time after that we just went for a whole tray to nosh on throughout the week. Everything we have had here is delicious. Her favorites are any of the options with eggs in them and mine are the original and the BBQ ones. We have yet to have the taro or custard ones, but I am sure that will change shortly. You also have the option of getting your bao fried, which is also fantastic.

Amazing highly recommend the service is great and the family running the place are so friendly with good vibes def coming back

Google
This new location serves the most delicious Banh Baos. We ordered 6 boxes and all had distinctive flavors. I loved the deep fried and the salted egg baos. Service was great and place was clean and spacious.

HUYNH TRAN

Google
Such a unique experience. We love their baos. Their deep fried bao buns are my favorite. Good to try out!!!

Joy C.

Yelp
Pro - tip: you can call ahead and they will have your order ready. I love the idea of a twist on bao. I love bao. I like fried things. Why not fry baos?? Service was great. She has recommendations and also give feedback on how to best combo for your buck! Coffee was flavorful and strong. So glad they're in the SGV.

Melina C.

Yelp
We got a variety of buns: bbq pork, chicken, salted egg, chicken quail egg, chicken, pork salted egg, pork quail egg, pork regular egg. My favorites are bbq pork, pork regular egg and pork quail egg. The bun is very soft and the meat is good too. Some can be peppery. Overall, the baos are good.

Angela P.

Yelp
Underrated and delicious bao spot! I was craving a Vietnamese combination (pork, sausage, and egg) banh bao so when I found this place on Yelp, I had to try it. I ordered a variety pack of 9 baos and chose the combo, bbq pork, and egg custard for my flavors. Authentic flavors and the perfect size. I am definitely coming back! Service was great and attentive! Limited inside seating. Parking available in a plaza. They're running a Thanksgiving promo if you order 3+ boxes, you'll get 15% off, starting on 11/15/24.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I still can't believe this place took over Tokyo Fried chicken but I also don't hate it because I'm a big fan of banh bao. I have had a few banh baos in SGV and they never hit the spot like the ones in Westminster, now I no longer need to drive so far! TP Banh Bao got some great selections on baos. The more you buy, the more you get. Don't forget to check out their deals. When I got here, their service was great. I told them it was my first time and they explained and let me know what their most popular baos. There are a couple of chairs to sit on but not for big group hang outs. Great place for take out though!

Yelp
Cash or Zelle only. Service was amazing, staff is friendly. You don't feel rushed when you're indecisive. I've been seeing this place pop up on my search feed since I'm near by and seemed like an amazing concept. I'm not sure if it was just a fluke and we didn't come on a day that it was good, but that would be the issue. Shops like this should be consistent they are essentially only serving one item with different varieties. Give this place a go if you really want to try it, everyone else in their reviews had a great time. I would only try this place again if someone else I knew hasn't tried it and wanted to. You're able to buy a box of 9 for slightly cheaper. They also have mix and match box of 9 for a different price. We opted for individual pricing and glad we did as we didn't find them that great. If you want to order a few deep fried buns you're required to order at least 3 deep fried. The bun dough wasn't good but wasn't bad. I wished it has more of a fluff and chew. It's the steamed custard bun type but firm. Durian- was disgusting. The bun was extremely salty, the other 5 we ordered the bun wasn't extremely salty. Not sure what happened, maybe they started a new batch of dough and calculated the ingredients wrong. Durian filling wasn't great, durian flavoring was used to make this and it had that heavy artificial taste. Pork Quail Egg- filling was tender and quail egg wasn't over cooked. Chicken Quail Egg- filling is more moist than pork and quail egg wasn't over cooked. Pork Salted Egg (fried)- filling was tender and salted egg wasn't too chalk. Custard (fried)- was alright, it was what you expected a deep fried custard bun to be. Custard Salted Egg (fried)- this might have been my favorite. The salted egg gave some texture to the custard which I personally liked. Usually salted egg custards are runny and make a mess. If that is what you love. You wouldn't like this one, it is solid.

Yelp
1. Suggesting that a review that was not written in favor of the store as an "attempt to sabotage" a business is a red flag. It also begs the question of whether other reviews posted praising this establishment is sincere or an attempt to wash out the reviews that rated less than 5 stars. 2. Just because you were working at the store doesn't mean you know everyone that comes in and out the shop. I get that you were working at the store the day I posted my review, but who is to assume that the day I posted my review is the same day I went to your store. 3. There are a few other reviews that are similar as they also mention that the oc yummy banh bao location is better as well. That is our opinion. This is Yelp. Are people not allowed to have similar thought/ opinions? 4. As with all businesses, owners want the best outcome and work hard everyday. Good luck.

Karen K.

Yelp
We got the assorted 9. I actually liked the regular pork bao the best out of all the options. It's better than a traditional Chinese or Korean bun in terms of flavor, with some nice subtle sweetness complimenting the savory. The pricing feels weird though. If you buy an assorted 9, you get charged for 9 buns at the price of the most expensive bun. That's kins of crazy, especially since the regular pork bun was my favorite. Also, there was a weird nonfood item in my bbq pork bun. It was like a bendy plastic. Overall buns are on the small side, but they steam them when you order them, and the bread is nice and soft. Lady up front was very friendly.

Thaovi T.

Yelp
Love the fried banh bao idea, which I feel taste much better than the steamed. The pork, egg, Sausage ones are yummy. Each was small, but delicious. Had ordered only one durian banh bao to try, but they mistakenly thought I meant a whole box, which I ended up paying for. Didn't bother to correct them since it was already cooked. Will come back for the fried banh Bao's. The sweet band baos were just ehh. The cashier and people there were friendly. Hopefully they add more seating inside, and other dishes to try.

Albert C.

Yelp
Definitely will be back to try other flavors out of curiosity! I loved how they had a variety to choose from to savory to sweet. I ordered a classic banh bao (thap cam, pork, sausage, & egg), it was pretty tasty however; some flavor was missing but I can't put my finger on it. My Vietnamese mom said the same but I have to ask her because she said really specific ingredients it was lacking. It's all in love though because we really love the atmosphere here and wanna see this place thrive. In addition, I also wanted to try one Banh Bao Thap Cam Trung Muoi (salted egg, sausage, pork) and that one tasted way better. Aesthetically speaking, we also noticed how the design of the banh bao seemed different, it didn't have that authentic swirl at the top.

Irene P.

Yelp
Naps were good and meaty! I liked that they had chestnut pieces. Sadly they are going to close operations after 12/22 Sunday. Go support them while you can!

Clarissa T.

Yelp
Such a cute little spot for baos. I came in since the window looked interesting and I wanted some custard buns but sadly they were out. There were some pre boxed baos but we were informed that individual bao orders was an option as well. I got 2 of the #1 bao. Ate one day of and one the next day. The next day the bao tasted just as fresh as the previous day! Since they are still in soft opening mode, the store is bare with minimal décor and items on display but there's also 15% off right now. Parking in the plaza can be hit or miss. Watch out for people driving the wrong direction down the one way aisles.

Magda N.

Yelp
The bao's are are steamed to order so you get it fresh and hot. Very soft bao. We only got the sweets. At the time they only had 2 sweet flavors available. This week they will start to have the salted egg yolk & more flavors available in the coming weeks. Custard is our favorite so far. Soft, custardy, and not too sweet. I think most people buy savory for breakfast, as they have more savory options. You can have them deep fried any flavor, with extra charge. Don't think there are other bao shop that offer deep frying. They took over tokyo fried chicken. Still soft opening so still some kinks to figure out. The flavors/pictures and individual price menu is on the screen, but it moves so fast. I think they mostly sell per box anyway. They have paper menu but it only list price per box (9 piece in a box). You can buy individual bao, but the price is a bit more. Definitely recommend call ahead to pickup, at least for the time being. Wait time can be long. They said 8 minutes for us, but pretty sure we waited at least 20 minutes.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Thank you for opening up here TP banh bao! They're located at Tokyo Fried Chicken's spot in a plaza with ample parking. They had 2 small tables near the window and a countertop to order/pick-up. Interior is pretty empty right now, but not sure if they're planning to sell merch or incorporate more decor. I got 15% off my order on 04/30 by pre-ordering via text with Megan. Megan's customer service is top notch. She replies quick and gets your order right on time. I waited a few extra minutes for the fried ones because she wants you to eat it as crispy as possible. I got the Original - Pork, Egg & Sausage box & fried. Totaled around $26 with the 15% off which is not bad! The size was perfect and each bite was delicious and filled with meat. I loved that the bun isn't too thick and proportioned nicely. Everyone in my family said it's so frrrreakin good! I certainly want to try their other flavors, and so glad it's within a few miles! Support this family business - you won't be disappointed!

Kit T.

Yelp
My mom used to buy baos from the location in OC and was so excited to hear that there's a closer location to home. TP banh bao is located where the old Tokyo chicken spot in MPK. The baos are a good size to eat where you can't get sick of eating one like the big baos that are sold. I got the chicken bao with egg, quail egg and salted egg. I couldn't choose which one to buy so I got them all. I also got the sweet egg custard and durian bao to try out. The chicken bao were all pretty flavorful and juicy. The baos are good to buy for breakfast. When you order the baos, there's two option where they steam it fresh for you and the frozen ones where you can steam out home whenever. Make sure to call ahead if you want the steamed baos because it does take a while. There is also a deep fry bao that looks interesting but I prefer my baos steamed. This is a to go place so there's no tables and chairs to sit.

Joann V.

Yelp
3.6 stars I came in to pick up the Pork Banh Bao ($14 per box) & Vegetarian Banh Bao ($17 per box) since I had family visiting & needed a lot of food. There's 9 baos per box & was a decent amount of food. I asked for them to be cold so that I can steam at home. The buns were all pretty tasty, but I think the bao could be smoother, instead it was a bit crumblier than I'm used to. The filling was nice & I liked the slight crunch of onions in the pork buns. My vegetarian relatives also really liked the vegetarian filling. The shop is mostly meant for takeout, but they do have limited seating for people who want to eat there. There's free parking on site. They only take cash, zelle, or venmo. This is definitely a no-frills kinda place, but I would still recommend them for anyone who needs something for breakfast/lunch/dinner and for catering/potlucks.

Vince L.

Yelp
They sell Vietnamese style meat buns. There are different flavors, both savory and sweet versions. Warm ones are limited. Most are available frozen. The pork filling tasted good but I didn't love the wet and sticky skin. I also tried the salted egg buns, which was a bit dry. I'm open to trying other flavors.

Ariel C.

Yelp
A new bao spot in the area! I wanted some baos but have been a bit bored of the normal chicken or pork buns. And was so pleased to find this spot! They have vegetarian, chicken, sweet and other baos. The durian bao was my husband's favorite. I love the addition of the salt egg yolk to these. This is a new spot, and don't really have indoor seating areas to eat yet. But you can buy a box of baos and take them home to enjoy. Would love to come back for more baos.

Astrid S.

Yelp
I love viet banh baos more than any other baos. It's so yummy! I love the salted egg one the most. They also offer durian baos but when I went on Fourth of July at around noon, they didn't have anymore. Anyway super glad this place opened up cuz I used to drive to Westminster to pick up Banh bao at my favorite place Yummy Banh bao. When you order, you can get it cold to steam at home yourself or get it steamed which takes about 10 min. I got three boxes of 12. And only one was steamed. I kept one and dropped off the other ones for loved ones.

Juan F.

Yelp
My heart still hasn't recovered from the loss of Tokyo Fried Chicken. I came here to give it a try since I have only had Baos at dim sum. Never had it fried or with anything other than the standard pork. A box comes with 9 and you can mix and match and also choose between fried or steamed (or both). Everything we got was honestly delicious except for the vegetarian one which I will pass on. Service was really friendly and they are very communicative via text if you want to pre order that way.

Wing C.

Yelp
The bread portion was really wet and sticky. Not the fluffy and soft bao I imagined. Tasted home made but not as a compliment...

Diane N.

Yelp
this was probably the best outcome that came out of late night yelp searching. no more drives out to OC for these buns. when you order, there is a wait for them because they are freshly steamed. It is so worth the wait! They come out so soft and pillowy! what we got: pork quail egg - Definitely opt for the whole quail egg! the little difference from going to a piece of regular egg to a whole quail egg is a lot. This is my go-to favorite whenever I go here. Pork bbq- a classic steamed bun filling. It is my boyfriends favorite and you cannot go wrong. I will definitely be back again to order more

Diana H.

Yelp
Super fluffy and fresh bánh bao (buns) stuffed to the brim with filling and a different taste than traditional Chinese baos. We tried eight of the steamed bánh bao flavors and like the pork quail egg and sausage and chicken with quail egg the most (better than regular or salted egg). The sweet egg custard has shredded coconut in it for a different texture. The manager, Megan, was super sweet and waited for us after we called saying we'd get there five minutes after closing on Monday. Since the bánh bao were piping hot, she also gave us tips on how to keep them fresh (leave the lid open for 15 minutes and also wipe the moisture on the bottom before closing) and how to reheat (steam for nine minutes). The bánh baos reheat well and make for a good quick snack and lunch. We will be back to try the lava bánh bao!

Khaing Z W.

Yelp
So happy, I know I know, when the lady taking orders on the phone speaks perfect English!!! We've been going to OC to get these nostalgic bao for many Burmese people. Now they are in Monterey Park. I got 5 boxes hoping some discount but d is only if you buy 10. I didn't want the heat from closed container to soggy the skin so I requested it to be frozen. Perfect!!! It's a very small takeout only place. South East corner of Atlantic and Garvey in the complex where building looks like Japanese

Brandon K.

Yelp
It is the same as the one in the OC Abe taste pretty much the same. Parking isn't too bad kinda small of it gets busy but it is okay. Service is great super friendly and trying their best to help to the best of their ability. Bao taste super good and great size. Aren't too small but aren't too big either. I didn't know they resteam the baos when you order it. So wait time will be longer if you don't pre-order. But overall it makes it better since they come out nice and hot. They write down what each one is if they do a mix and match.

Malia B.

Yelp
Tried a couple bao since i was in the area...my first time trying Vietnamese style baos. Different but yummy! They apparently just opened. Customer service was A++!! Super friendly and very welcoming. Located in a strip mall with lots of parking.

Kelly C.

Yelp
They're still in their soft opening phase currently so there's a 15% off special happening! A select few items aren't available off the menu just yet. I picked up the steamed pork, quail egg and sausage bun; pork, salted egg and sausage; and fried sweet egg custard filled bun. The pork fillings are very flavorful and the filling to bun ratio is great! Maybe it's because I left the lid of my box covered for a few minutes but the buns felt slightly over steamed in my opinion. (It was quite soft when I tried to break it in half and you can kind of feel it sticking inside your mouth but it wasn't a huge issue to me.) Seems like a cool spot for a quick grab breakfast or snack. Would love to come back in the future to try their coffee too! Service was also really nice :)

Amy T.

Yelp
I'm so glad we have more variety in Monterey Park with this new addition of Vietnamese buns. We ordered a box of 9 buns which had 3 combo, 3 pork bbq, and 3 Quail egg. We liked them so much, especially the egg one that we decided to come back a second time and try some more buns. Taste: My favorite one was the Quail egg but the pork meat combo was good. The bbq pork and chicken were also really good, tasted like a vietnamese charsiu bao. Another surprisingly delicious flavor was custard. I was hesitant to order this because although I like the flavor custard, I hate red bean/taro/mung bean and the gritty/sandy texture of them. I saw the photos of the custard and it looked like it was going to have that gross texture. Ordered it anyway and was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice custard flavor with a light texture. It was not gritty or sandy in any way. I'd order this one again. Value: Came out to be about $21 for a box of 9, pretty fair for this economy. Parking: lots of space in Deerfield Plaza Service: Kind cashiers who are helpful. Accept zelle and cash. I really hope this business thrives. They even have a vegetarian option that i wanted to try but i was hesitant. I'll be coming back to try it. It's nice to have options when bringing treats to the office instead of donuts.

Henry H.

Yelp
Its ok not bad but cheap on the Chinese sausage and a little dry. Yummy banh bao in OC is way better

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Finally! There is a TO Banh bao location in SGV!! No need to drive down to OC to get their Banh Baos now. They recently opened up and they're located in Monterey Park. Parking is easy as well. I ordered their classic pork Banh bao and Vietnamese iced coffee. The box comes with 9 Baos. I love the size of the Baos as they're not filled too much with dough. They make their Banh bao fresh so make sure to eat them right away for best tasting. Or you can let them know you want to order these to go and they'll give you the ones where you can refrigerate or freeze.

T L.

Yelp
So glad they opened this location! Great baos are the truly the best. The staff is great.

Tu L.

Yelp
Buy two boxes of buns and get a free drink, such as iced coffee or Thai tea. If you missed the Vietnamese bánh bao, stop by to get it

Sigrid L.

Yelp
Great Management!!! To Die for! lol. If you're in the neighborhood you should totally try their steamed Bao! Yummmmmy!!!!!

Diana S.

Yelp
I love their mini baos. I usually get it when I'm in Garden Grove but glad they have a location up here now. They're small and easy to eat plus they taste even better deep fried. I usually get the pork with quail egg or pork and salted egg.

Wendy G.

Yelp
Came by to grab some banh bao for breakfast. This is a family own business. They had a great variety including sweet banh bao and you have the option to deep fry them! Service was great! Banh bao was fresh off the steamer, piping hot! I got a variety of their pork and chicken banh bao along with the custard and durian banh bao. I was not disappointed when I tried them. It was sooooo good! Great meat to bao ratio. Flavor was in point. Definitely coming back here again!

Dee W.

Yelp
Soft opening for new vietnamese bun place. Get their deep fried bao. Soooo good and unique.

Myphuong M.

Yelp
Just picked up 6 boxes before the discount end. Happy that I don't have to drive far to get the bao now. Love their bao!

Anne T.

Yelp
Their deep fried bao and chicken with quail egg bao is pretty good in my opinion. I love the deep fried bao and you can choose the flavors for deep fried too. I haven't got the chance to try the others baos. I drove past here a couple times and it's a pretty hidden spot but definitely recommend it instead of driving to OC to get your bao. The service is great they are really nice and sweet people. Unfortunately, I heard they are closing around Christmas so come before they're gone

Steve ..

Yelp
The search is over. No need to go to OC (Westminster) to get you some good Vietnamese báo. I was greeted by the owner T.P. and he has been in business for 20 years. Bao is less bready compared to the places I have tried and not as sweet. Also tried the salted egg bao which was recommended by the owner and boy, it was absolutely amazing. They have a lot of other flavors but pork and egg and pork and quail brought a lot of childhood memories. Will come back to try other flavors. Affordable and freshly steamed.

Vizion B.

Yelp
Got a chance to go there. It was still the soft opening. Was greeted with a smile. I got to try number 4 and 5 chicken bao. The bread was soft and fluffy. Number 6 and 7 were not available when I went there. The other 2 pork bao that is not BBQ is good. I can't tell the difference but one tasted a bit different. The only bad is the BBQ pork was too dry. The bread was still good just the meat. They need some juice. That's why I gave it 4 star out of 5 due the dry pork.

Ricky C.

Yelp
Went there to try thier banh bao which I decidedly like compared to other , it's more meatier been there twice ,the service was excellent

Anny L.

Yelp
The fried banh baos are so good. It's crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. I ordered 1 of their salted egg chicken and 1 salted egg pork. I arrived late to pick up my bread and they remade me my order because they wanted me to have them fresh and crispy. Super grateful for their service as it was very delicious having it fresh. Do order ahead by texting or calling the store. They only accept Zelle and cash!

Wan K.

Yelp
I've tried their location in Orange County on Euclid many years ago and it was delicious. So I knew I wouldn't be disappointed at this location since it's owned by the same owner. I got the pork with regular egg and pork with quail egg. I came in on Saturday, July 3rd, 2024 around 6pm. I was greeted by the owner. She was very friendly and welcoming. I paid around $5 for 2, these baos are steaming hot, so let it cool before eating it. Probably one of the best bánh baos I've had and I like that it's fresh. Most of my life I've had it from the Asian supermarket that's been sitting around for awhile, those who know will know what I'm talking about, being Cambodian this is what was available to us lol. I'm not from the OC but Monterey Park is a lot closer to me. Next time, I'll try to buy a pack for my family. Just times are tough right now. Vietnamese bánh baos are packed with flavor, if you've never had it, give it a try. It's quite different from your typical Chinese baozi but similar to the Cantonese char siu bao but flavor profile is different, more savory. The bread is a little sweet and the filling is savory. It's quite addicting in taste.

Sonny S.

Yelp
In former Tokyo Fried chicken space, baos were great fillings were delicious the variety pack was the right choice

Lynn F.

Yelp
#3 Pork, Salted Egg & Sausage Deep fire Omg the best love love it and the lady sweet and wonderful service, I'll be back

Josh K.

Yelp
Not the same as Santa Ana "Yummy banh bao" store next to the Asian garden mall brand. The yummy banh bao in Santa Ana is way better. Not the same! The store is really hot during the summer. No ac. Not a place to eat.

Mark M.

Yelp
Really tasty bao, both sweet(not too sweet) and savory, reasonably priced, and really nice customer service

Robert J W.

Yelp
I went to TP Banh bao to give it a try, I was pleasantly surprised the steam bao where very tasty and filling was of good quality! I will be back!

Cynthia L.

Yelp
Delicious fresh buns. All different kinds of buns. Pork, chicken, Lava, Custard and many, many more.

Rudy H.

Yelp
Love their fried bánh bao. Ít is take out, but they do have 2 tables and a few chairs. I should mention there is a $3 service charge for frying. A box is 9 and the service charge is levied on any amount you order. They are in the same center as Dalat market. Euclid & Garden Grove. This is the only location I have visited. I will try the new Monterey Park location soon.
