The Best Boba Tea in Seattle - Eater Seattle

"This popular nternational District shop is a subsidiary of Chun Shui Tang, a Taiwanese teahouse believed by many to be the first creators of boba milk tea. Here, one can find high quality teas and lattes which feature less sweet drinks, which place a heavier emphasis on tea flavor. Along with the standard boba topping, TP also offers QQ noodle, which is a slightly less chewy, noodle shaped version of the more well-known tapioca ball. Available for takeout or delivery." - Ryan Lee, Jade Yamazaki Stewart

Google
First time trying TP Tea outside of California. I decided to try the passion fruit slush (normally I get passion fruit green tea). It was good, but a bit too sweet for my taste bud. They gave a ton of boba, and it was weirdly foamy at the end of the drink. Some seating inside. Street parking only.

Google
The milk tea is delicious, but every time I order drinks from DoorDash and request CREMA, they always forget to include it as a topping! I hope the crew member double-checks before handing over to the customer.

Google
Very good service and very good drinks. The place is super clean and they have 20% off some drinks. I would recommend the fruity tea as is well served and has lots of fruit with chia seeds. The price is very reasonable and a good spot to get something refreshing while visiting old china town in Seattle.

Google
I ordered bubble tea+jelly, less ice,30% sweetness. The bubbles are fragrant, sweet, soft and chewy. The tea is a little bitter because it’s less sweet which is perfect for me since I don’t like overly sweet drinks. ⭐️minus one star because I realized they used Coffee Mate. For $6-$8, for health concerns, I prefer whole milk or real cream, or at least notify the customers so they can choose to ingest carcinogenic chemicals or ingest real milk /cream. Otherwise, it’s all pretty good . I wish they added a little bit more bobas and jelly.

Google
TP Tea stands out as Seattle's pinnacle of authenticity when it comes to milk tea. The chain surpasses all expectations, delivering a truly genuine Taiwanese tea experience. But what truly sets TP Tea apart is the unparalleled richness and depth of flavor in every sip. In our humble opinion, TP Tea reigns supreme as the best milk tea destination in Seattle. Definitely would recommend people to come here again!

Google
One of my favorite boba stores! It offers a unique Tieguanyin tea flavor that you can only find in TP TEA, and it's DELICIOUS! Their signature golden jelly topping has a unique flavor and the texture is on point. I'd recommend getting their signature tea and topping to get the full experience of this store. The interior is simple, yet relaxing. The line could be really long on the weekends, but it's worth the wait. I'd highly recommend this store.

Google
The strawberry milk tea is super good! Very clean and fast service!

Google
I got their strawberry matcha latte with 80% sweetness Less ice And pearls Which ended to be quite mild to my liking Overall It was just okay okay I would not get the same flavour again

Yelp
been coming here for years and never had a bad drink. The lines can get long, but they're quick with it and they're always blasting some trendy kpop while you wait. I always bring out-of-state visiting friends here to grab drinks because the taste is always consistent. Their Taiwan classic milk tea is the best of both worlds--if you want to try a lot of toppings but keep an authentic tea flavor, that's the drink to get. If you're a fruit tea enthusiast, their extensive menu is creative and seasonal, so you won't get bored and you'll always get to try something new. I recommend following them on Instagram to see what seasonal drinks they offer every few months!

Yelp
Delicious teas. Great variety. Friendly and fast service. Street parking mostly. Some parking lots is you go farther out. Some seating to chill at. Mostly standing room.

Yelp
Good spot for boba! We came on a weekend and it was pretty busy, so we waited in line for a little bit. There's a lot of fun flavors and toppings for the drinks here. I got the mango pomelo sago drink. I wasn't able to adjust the sweetness on this drink, but it was made well and not too sweet. I liked all the different toppings mixed in! Only downside is that I felt like the drink was a little too pricy. I enjoyed it though and would come back here as a treat.

Yelp
No line on a Friday early afternoon. Per the reviews on here, we got the strawberry milk tea with pearls, which was really good! It was more of a slush than a tea consistency. The pearls were a great texture, and there were a generous amount of them. The 50% sugar was the perfect level of sweetness for us. Limited amount of indoor seating, more of a grab-and-go vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
I've always liked their most basic oolong milk tea a2 I think. It has the authentic oolong tea flavor and perfect balance of milk and sugar. The size is large for just $5. The complaint is that the service is always very slow and sometimes long lines. This time I stood there until everybody who came in after me had left, only to find out they forgot to work on my order...need improvement on that please

Yelp
There are a lot of Boba shops in Seattle. This is one of my favorites. They have a wide array of drink options to choose from as well as seasonal drinks. One of those is a Brown Sugar Milk boba drink. I usually base a place by how good their version of a brown sugar milk is. Well they take the cake as the best one in Seattle in my opinion! Besides the great drinks, they are quick to get your drink to you which is impressive as they are always making so many at one time. Due to how busy they are they weren't super personable but that's understandable . I like how the shop look with the limited space available with some seating, a stand up counter/table and some cute wooden flower decorations. A good go to boba place!

Yelp
This is my second time going to TP Tea which we had gotten the 3Q drink first time around. It was a very interesting drink to try as it was filled with toppings. The one in the picture is their strawberry milk tea which by far was better tasting as it was kinda similar to a slush type drink but also refreshing at the same time.
google avatar

Joanne W.

Yelp
Yummy boba! I like their modern interior and the amount of choices for their drinks. It's pretty good and they have a rotating selection of drinks based on the season. This season was taro and it was good. It gets crowded a bit but the staff don't fail to get the drinks out to you.

Yelp
I usually go to the U-district location but I've gone to this one a couple times too and it's equally as good as its counterpart. This place can be popular at times where the queue may snake throughout the whole shop. Compared to the 45th location, this boba place has some more seating but it's not a great place to sit down and catch up with friends. This place is more of a "pick up your boba and head out when you're ready" I always get the strawberry milk tea, it's always consistently good! Even tho if it is milk tea, it's more of a smoothie. Another popular option here is the QQ milk tea Service is relatively fast but the longest I've ever waited here was maybe 30 min but it was mostly queueing to put my order in. Overall try this place out! One of my favorite boba places hands down
google avatar

Yelp
I knew from the start that my boba was going to be an absolute banger. The place was packed full of people, so fill that we had to wait like 20 minutes to get our boba, but it was totally worth it. I ordered the crema mulberry tea, which is in their top 7 apparently. It was probably one of the best bobas I've ever had. There was a strong citrusy flavor to it that I really enjoyed a lot and I can tell they used real fruit, because I munched on a bunch of the fruit skins down at the bottom towards the end haha.
google avatar

Yelp
After a few more times coming here, I can say with confidence..... the rating of 4 stars is solid. The drinks have been consistent. You will always get the same taste every time you come here. The service is definitely speeding up. I think the novelty of this place is gone and it's just normal business. The inside space is definitely not for sticking around, buy and go. I would like them to have some more interesting seasonal drinks that will surprise me for that 5 star.
google avatar

Cat L.

Yelp
Loves the flavor here! Definitely recommend ...if you can find parking and/or have someone go line up while you drive and drive and drive around looking for parking Yes, I'll be back at this place the next time I'm in town. One less star for the inconvenience of the location

Yelp
Got the Taiwan Classic Milk Tea with Pearls, QQ Noodles, and Grass Jelly and it was amazing. Not too sweet like most other bubble tea places. The Pearls were very QQ and chewy and a hint of sweetness. The QQ Noodles were surprisingly fun to eat, they were like pearls but in noodle form. and the grass jelly was fresh and a nice change in texture. I like how all three toppings come with it.

Yelp
I am a big fan of TP tea! It's one of my favorite boba shops in Chinatown because I think they do a fantastic job with brewing and blending their teas! Some of my favorite drinks are 3Q TP milk tea, strawberry smoothies, four season oolong, and any of their delightfully fresh fruit teas! Since I like my drinks to be on the less sweeter side, I always do 25-50% sweetness level which definitely does the job! There is some seating in the shop which is helpful for a quick chat or a place to sit while waiting for your drink. Their service is quick and friendly so I'm usually out the door quickly after my order is taken! All in all a solid boba shop with a lot of variety for drinks! Highly recommend when you're in Chinatown!
google avatar

Yelp
There's usually a line here during peak hours, and even sometimes on weekdays as I went here on a Monday lunchtime and many people were ordering drinks. The inside has one or two tables for seating, but otherwise is more of a place to come and go after getting your drinks. You order your drinks up front here, though be prepared to raise your voice as it's noisy in here from all the drink-making behind the counter. I usually come here for their Tieguanyin tea latte with grass jelly (highly, highly recommend), though I got the osmanthus tea latte with grass jelly for this visit. Taste is awesome as usual; the tea flavor is strong, though I was unable to change the sweetness on this drink. This is one of the milk tea places I make a beeline for if I ever want to satisfy my sweet cravings, and they've been relatively consistent in their quality since. Great recommend for here!

Yelp
Friday afternoon was in the area and got some tea. I got nostalgic black tea which comes with golden jelly, boba and something else. The cashier was very friendly. The store is well decorated and very very chic. The drink is yummy and I will try something next time.
google avatar

Yelp
My colleagues from Taiwan know their boba tea shops. We walked around Chinatown after lunch and they picked the perfect spot for boba! I ordered the lemon premium green tea with tea jelly. One sip and I knew this was premium high quality Taiwanese tea. There's no cheap artificial tea flavors here, this is the real deal! If you've never tried tea jelly, then it's a must! I'm addicted! The shop was clean and service was quick.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here after some dim sum and it was great! Walking in, the place is bright, clean, and there's a seating area as well as a bar area for you to stand. The place was pretty crowded and there was a long line, but the service was fast and kind. I got the crema wintermelon tea and it was delicious! Would love to come back to try some of their other drinks.

Yelp
Disappointed in my visit today: $8 wasted on a fresh (whole) milk boba with taro. The taro was gloppy at the bottom of the cup, filled too close to the rim. The cup, in turn, was not sealed well and leaked as I tried to "shake well" per employee's instructions. I should have returned the beverage and changed my order, but I still took the chance... Staff were just okay, not amicable, but not rude either. I really dislike seeing employees using their mobiles while customers are present. *OKAY health code score* (NOV 2024) violations include: EMPLOYEES NOT WASHING HANDS

Yelp
we found tp tea on a whim while observing what was nearby in the Asian District of Seattle. They made a lot of good recommendations in terms of unusual drinks. We haven't seen in the bay area. The ambience was like any other Boba place that had no seats and to go service only.
google avatar

Polly C.

Yelp
Good boba spot I've found in the U-district! Was passing by to find a quick grab-and-go boba and spotted this place. Ordered their Mulberry Tea which had a floral taste but it was good! Added lychee jelly to my drinks and made the drink a little sweet and sour which I like a lot. The service was good. The wait line was not long until people started to come into the store. Ambiance and wall decor in the shop is unique and pleasant. Not much seating or table but definitely a recommended place to go grab a boba.
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
We've been to this location a couple of times and boy ate they always always bussyyyy.. which also goes to say that they are good! Inspite of that their service is quick. There are a couple of tables and chairs whilst you wait or enjoy your drink. We really enjoy their coffee flavored drinks. But what I love the most are the coffee jelly and Boba in the drink. It's located right in the heart of Chinatown so obviously parking is tight.
google avatar

Yelp
A decent tea shop that has a good assortment of drinks. And they are tasty. The shop doesn't have many tables and the bathroom is shared with multiple businesses (down a hall with a security code)

Yelp
I stopped by TP tea on a Friday evening. The place was packed with people waiting for their drinks. I was able to order very quickly and then spent probably 10 to 15 minutes waiting for my order. The people working were extremely efficient. It was just that busy. I soon got my drinks and left. Both of my drinks were very good. I got the strawberry Crema, for ~$6. The salted cheese foam was delicious on the drink, and the strawberry was really good. Since the shop has a $9 minimum for cards, and I had no cash, I ended up also getting a milk tea with caramel pudding for around $4. This was also delicious, and I had it the next day after ordering it with less ice. It seemed to be made with real tea, and the jelly was flavorful. So far my favorite boba place in Seattle, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the ID to try more flavors!

Yelp
One of my favorites, if not my favorite, boba shop in Seattle!! A cute little taiwanese boba shop in chinatown, TP tea makes fresh milk teas and the quality is always there. I've been three times and always loved my drink!! I especially recommend adding crema to your drinks, it's so yummy and worth the extra cost. I will say they have the tiniest boba balls of anywhere i've been before. With that said, the texture is pretty good, it's soft and chewy! Also expect to pay at least $8 per drink, which is expensive, but maybe not dissimilar to other places. This is definitely more of a grab and go type of place since there's not a lot of seating! With that said, the shop is cute and clean and the workers are friendly.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Excellent tea! We love this place and always stop by when we are in the CID. We always wish it opened at least by 11am when we are drinking morning caffeine. I recently tried the summer special of the brown sugar boba. I usually get one of the teas place with regular boba. I love the high quality of the tea. This place is always busy!
google avatar

Josh K.

Yelp
Such good boba and a generous amount! Love their tea, super refreshing and one of my new faves for sure, definitely come give this place a try!
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
TP Tea was crowded on a Saturday afternoon, so it is definitely a popular spot. After waiting in line and ordering our drinks, picked up drinks at the counter. Tried the new matcha latte menu, which was pretty good with the fruity pairing of strawberry and mango. There are limited seats/tables, so plan to take your order to go. There is also a 9.00 minimum for credit card orders; go with friends or bring cash. -2 Stars for cleanliness. The floor was very sticky in some spots and the staff tried to make my drink in a cup that had fallen onto the floor! I saw it and asked for a new plastic cup before they made my drink.
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
Great selection of a lot of different types of teas! The staff was very friendly. If you're getting a fruity tea, I'd recommend getting your drink at 50% sweetness unless you like it to be really sugary. I did 100% sweetness and I feel like I could have done less.
google avatar

Eryn M.

Yelp
We heard good reviews from this place so we decided to try it out while visiting Seattle. First impression was the place was clean and very well kept. It was pretty busy when we came but we still got our orders out pretty quick. The menu was self explanatory and very extensive! I love on how they have a variety of toppings and on how some of their milk teas have their toppings already included in the drink. So many different choices to choose from as well! I ended up getting their pearl milk tea with cheese crema while my boyfriend got their winter melon tea with cheese crema. We both enjoyed what we ordered but we both agreed that we had better ones from other places. However, I think that they still offer quality boba especially with its price point. We're definitely going to come back next time we visit Seattle again!
google avatar

Vincent R.

Yelp
The service here at TP Tea was fast, simple, and helpful. The menu is pretty straight forward and the young man at the counter helped answer all of our questions. I prefer a semi sweet beverage and the staff was able to give me just the right amount of sweetness desired. I would highly recommend this boba shop especially if you enjoy more authentic and high quality tea. Aside from the food and service the parking is a little hard to get on a very busy area though there is spaces if you don't mind to walk a couple extra minutes. Inside the shop was clean and aesthetically pleasing. There is also spots to sit while you wait for your drinks but mainly I would say this is a to go business. Overall I was very satisfied and happy with my groups order!
google avatar

Krissm A.

Yelp
Yummy boba place. It was a little hard to Find with the wrong directions from GPS. Place was clean, staff were friendly. We were craving boba night after a nice dinner. Parking is not easy to find unless you score on street parking. Overall great experience.
google avatar

Jon G.

Yelp
There's something refreshing about drinking boba that's authentic. Authentic in a sense that they don't use that noticeable artificial powder found in most boba shops. You get what you pay for at this shop. The boba pearls are freshly made and the add-ons don't taste canned. I got the pearl milk tea and included lychee and red bean. Swift service, polite and well staffed shop. The staff got the rations right, 30% sugar, medium ice. I've passed by this shop many times and usually there's a long line but we decided to go today since there was visibly two people in queue. I'd imagine during peak hours the place can feel congested and claustrophobic inside, with few seating. There's plenty of drinks to choose from, I'm definitely coming back to try something new and intriguing!
google avatar

Keely H.

Yelp
The drinks here are reliable in taste but it's always so cramped inside. The drinks are also expensive ($8-9 with toppings). I do really like their mulberry tea with 50% sugar, since it's light and refreshing. Their boba is also a good amount of chewiness. I wish toppings didn't cost as much as they charge.
google avatar

Katherine N.

Yelp
Pretty good boba spot! I've tried their milk tea and their fruit tea and both were good! I can't wait to try more of their extensive menu. They have a couple sets of tables and chairs in the back and also a standing bar counter to hang out at. They can get pretty busy, but I haven't had to wait any longer than 5 minutes each time I've come so far.
google avatar

Chelsea P.

Yelp
Very busy but the line moves fast. Large selection of drinks and add-on options. It's a tight space on crowded days, but the line just zig-zagged & I feel like people figured it out.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
The Taiwan Classic tea is very aromatic. Will get it again if I come around China town.
google avatar

Vivien L.

Yelp
Solid boba spot in Chinatown! I came on a Saturday afternoon and the line was long but moved quickly. Drinks came out fast. I ordered the tie guan yin tea latte with 50% sugar, less ice, and pearl. The tea flavor was strong, pearls are small compared to other places, and I think it's worth the price considering the size. There's not many places to sit at and the store can feel very crowded depending on the line.
google avatar

Caroline X.

Yelp
I've visited this place many times whenever I'm in the area. My personal favorites are the Fresh Fruit Tea with Chia Seeds and the Grapefruit Crema. The fruit and tea offer a good balance, with the strong tea flavor complementing the fruits, and the crema adding just the perfect touch of savory flavor. The store is cozy, and you can see the whole process of making your drinks, which adds to the experience. However, it's not the best spot for hanging out with friends due to the busy and loud environment when drinks are being made. There are only 2-3 sofas for seating. Despite that, they fulfill orders quickly; it's a good choice if you want some fruit teas.
google avatar

Yelp
When I lived in the Bay Area, I used to wait 30+ minutes in line to get TP Tea at the Cupertino location and found the tea and toppings to be excellent. Since I was in Chinatown Seattle area for vacation, I had to stop by: TP Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Pearl ($4.95 + $0.90) - The cashier said this milk tea was made with Tieguanyin (not sure why this isn't specified on the menu). This type of tea usually has a rather floral and fragrant sweetness. This one is quite flat in comparison, with a strong milk powder taste overpowering the delicate tea notes. Half sweet was good for this drink. The boba was of the small pearl variety and was a bit firmer than how I usually prefer it. Pearl Milk Tea, 80% Sweet, Less Ice ($5.75) - This drink, on the other hand, had the fragrance of a decent tea. It reminded me the classic bug bitten Taiwanese oolong. Surprisingly, the sweetness level at 80% didn't taste too much sweeter than 50% in the other drink. Still, as with the other drink, the boba was on the firm side. I've been to at least a hundred more boba shops since the last time I had TP Tea, so perhaps nostalgia goggles were clouding my judgement. Or perhaps I just went here on a bad day.
google avatar

Yvonne D.

Yelp
Probably my favorite tea place in all of Seattle + diverse menu options + legit real tea drinks +/- long wait but they are popular so understandable +/- hard parking (Chinatown; street only) Kind of pricey compared to neighbors but its a big cup and delicious!
google avatar

Breana L.

Yelp
This is still my favorite bubble tea spot. The strong tea flavor really makes it stand out. But beware if you're caffeine sensitive like me haha. My friend tried the new matcha strawberry this time and it was pretty good!
google avatar

Judy T.

Yelp
Coming from the 626 which is full of boba spots, I was impressed with TP Tea and surprised they have a location in SoCal already! QQ Noodles is a different thing and the mulberry drinks were new as well. I grew up loving mulberry and it was very nostalgic for me to get a mulberry cheese foam. Pink Himalayan cheese phone also sounded unique but the taste wasn't any different. The staff were efficient, drinks were great, and toppings had the right texture. I want more QQ Noodles!
google avatar

Zoe C.

Yelp
I only got one tea, their Mulberry tea which is a flavor I haven't seen back in NJ, and it was great! Sweet but slightly tart and super refreshing! The golden jelly was a perfect match for it! Just wish I could change the ice to no ice on it but oh wells. Service was quick and nice. The girl at the counter answered all my questions patiently. I gave it four stars cuz I only tried out one drink so I can't judge the other drinks and flavors.

Linda H.

Yelp
I love the Nostalgic black tea so good will 100% come to get it again. The order was quickly made. The service was great.

Yelp
I've been living in Seattle for 6 months now and it is no secret that bubble tea is a staple. I found myself in the UDistrict with some extra time before the bus, I have started switching to iced drinks with the arrival of warm weather AAAND it happened to be Bubble Tea Day, so I finally overcame my fear of making a decision (no, seriously there are literally so many good options, luckily you can't really go wrong) and I am SOOO glad that I had my first Seattle boba at TP Tea!!! Such a beautiful little interior, the service was fast and the barista was sooo sweet and helpful. They even made my drink dairy free even though I read the menu wrong Unfortunately, the tea was so yummy that I literally finished it before I got on the bus and then had to subject everyone around me to the sound of me sucking up the remaining bobas - LOL thank you TP Tea for delicious tea and brightening my day :))
google avatar

Beatrice H.

Yelp
We have been here 3 times now and it is hands down one of our favorite boba tea places. Everything they make is perfect! Just beware to adjust the sweetness if you are sweet sensitive. We came to TP tea several times and their busiest hours tend to be on weekends after dinner, but early afternoons tend to be less crowded. They are located in the international district which can be tricky to find parking as it is all street parking. The boba tea is great! We've ordered the original milk tea, the crema drinks (mango and strawberry), tgy tea, and jasmine tea. Their tea is tastefully brewed and delightful and the crema drinks are phenominal and unique. Their crema is tastier than happy lemon in my opinion. The boba itself is chewy and so tasty, soaked in syrupy sweetness. They allow the standard customizations of sweetness and ice. The wait is usually 10 minutes but in peak hours can be 15+. The price is in a normal range, but increased for inflation (and maybe demand?) Their service is good and the workers are efficient. Overall, great drinks and boba tea place. I would highly recommend, it is worth the drive. One of our favorites in the seattle area!

Yelp
A great spot to get boba in Seattle's International District. The location is excellent considering it's in the heart of International District, located amongst many delicious restaurants. I ordered the 3Q TP milk tea and it was pretty good! Considering I've tried other boba places around Seattle, I'd give them a 7/10 for flavor, and quality. The staff was kind, although it did take them a while (around 10-15 mins) for them to give me my drink. The ambiance of the inside is what you would expect from a fast paced boba store in International District. There wasn't a spot for sitting at all and the line went out the door. Parking: PAID Street parking, (absolutely atrocious on weekends)
