We’re a Canadian business and we initially started our USA trademark registration with a low cost online company we found in google search. Unfortunately, they made several critical errors in our application. When the USPTO raised multiple issues and sent us a notice, we tried contacting the first company for clarification but they never responded to any of our emails, and all the phone numbers they provided had been disconnected. After a lot of frustration, we reached out to Trademark Express and spoke with Chris DeMassa. He clearly explained the mistakes that had been made and how to fix them. Chris has extensive experience and knowledge in trademark law and regulatory requirements. His service was professional, honest, and thorough. When I first came across Trademark Express, I started out with a video call with Chris. He explained everything to me, the entire application process, in-use versus intent-to-use, logo requirements, etc. All completely free of cost. They genuinely care about their clients and help you save bucks wherever you can. Considering how costs add up for small and medium-sized businesses, every dollar matters. Heather and Tyler have a response rate faster than anyone I know. They reply in a 2-4 hour window, which puts any business owner at ease. They are super knowledgeable about the process and take the time to really go over every single detail. I love the work ethic, professionalism and speed at which they operate. After posting my frustration and my negative review I was contacted to resolve the issue. At the time of me posting this favorable review I have not had a resolution and I feel insufficient progress has been made to justify removing the negative review - but they did contact me multiple times and seem for now very committed to making things right - and have asked me to update the review for the good of their business and as a showing of good faith. I'm hopeful that the experience will end with a story of a company that made things right and followed through with their promises. All I can report for now is that the communication is open again and we are trying to finalize a frustratingly tedious experience - and I do appreciate the repeated efforts to communicate and now (after my initial review) get the job done. I hope to update one final time with a 5 star review that we at least completed the mark.

I've been in the entertainment business for almost 50 years and seldom, if ever, have I come across someone as straightforward, caring, knowledgeable, and generous with their time as I found in Chris DeMassa at Trademark Express (tmexpress.com) Being a senior I am bombarded with fake calls, texts, and especially emails for all sorts of scams. But when I received a threatening group of emails regarding someone wanting to STEAL my company name - I figured I had better seek outside help and NOT contact these folks directly. Chris knows the Trademark law to the letter and puts things in perspective within minutes. DO YOURSELF a favor, look no further than calling Chris for your Trademark needs...I can not be more serious.

Super late review! You're better off getting a trademark attorney. This company was helpful as a start but the so called attorneys they have for 5 minute calls definitely weren't helpful. And they give you a list of other companies/ people that use your trademark name or similar names which could prevent you from getting the trademark. But it wasn't until I got a trademark attorney that I realized that this company did not see and did not list the company that was already using the trademark name I wanted. The other similar names on the list I received from them were mostly inactive so I could have fought those, but when trying to do so I reached out to a trademark attorney and she found that the name I wanted was being actively used since 2019 so it didn't make sense to try to fight it. Which was fine so I didn't waste my time. But if I had gotten a trademark attorney to begin with, the money I paid this company, I could have put towards the attorney. I reached out to the company afterwards because I recalled being told about some type of monitoring system for the trademark name I chose and no one knew what I was referring to and the person who responded was rude! But then a few weeks later I received an email from Westlaw which is the monitoring system that I was referring to but I didn't remember the name at that time smh. The owner Chris was quite petty on other negative reviews that I read when I was searching for this assistance back in 2020, so I'm sure he'll have a comment but I said what I said. Get a trademark attorney but make sure they're good so you don't waste your time or money! I used this company in 2020 and I learned from this experience so it wasn't a complete waste I guess.

The Trademark Express team was very helpful with the filing of our Trademark years ago and this year with our renewal. The team is pleasant, easy to work with and responsive.

Then: When we used Trademark Express to register our trademark in 2010, with Amy Goddess, we had an acceptable experience. I would have given them a 4* at the time. I deduct 1* because the descriptive text used for one of our trademark classes was too restrictive. This wording was their recommendation, and at the time I assumed that the professionals knew what they were doing, so I did not think to propose alternative language. A 5*-worthy professional would have explained the significance of the descriptive portion of a trademark, and asked us questions about our product to help us craft the best language. Now: When the time came to renew our trademark, the personnel in their office had changed, and we had also moved out of state. Our experience was vastly different. Others have eloquently described the aggressive and rude behavior of a particular individual - I needn't repeat it. I will only say that these reviews are not in any way exaggerating. I have never felt so bullied by a professional. More damning, though, was that I had difficulty getting clear, accurate answers to basic questions. This combination of aggressive-yet-confusing communication, and our concern that they had previously not provided a level of service we seek in legal help, led to our decision to use a local IP attorney in our new home state to renew our trademark.

The following review is my personal opinion based on my experience working with Trademark Express... I was a customer and I highly recommend avoiding this company, and here's why... First off, their advice has little to no relevance in todays marketplace. They have little if any understanding of the implications that things like Google and social media will have on a trademark and your ability to enforce your trademark. Nor do they seem to care. They will take full advantage of your ignorance in regards to trademark enforcement and try to convince you to spend your money on things that are completely unnecessary. like unnecessary class protections that are nearly impossible to enforce and spending $500 on performing "comprehensive research"... Something they will insist that you need to do every time your trademark is up for renewal. Basically, Trademark Express is a guy named Chris that hustles people out of $500, then runs the name through some automated systems he probably set up 15 years ago, then he sends you a useless list of searches that will likely have zero effect on your ability to grow, and then he passes you on to someone else to do your filing. The comprehensive research is a complete waste of money that perhaps would have served a purpose back in the 90s. Simply go online and look up the name of interest on Google, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TicTok and whatever other social media platforms that will actually be relevant to your company. Thats where it will actually matter and it'll take you maybe ten minutes. Secure your name on these platforms and focus your trademark protection within easily enforceable class protections that remove your competitions ability to grow online. Like protecting your name for use in online retail, or producing online media. Who cares if some guy in some crappy little town in the middle of nowhere is using the same name and has a listing in the phone book. If they're not on the relevant online platforms then don't waste your money and energy on it. Focus on the real threats. Then spend your money on good quality branding. This is how you protect yourself in todays world. To conclude my review, here's my advice... Spend a week educating yourself on how a trademark can actually protect you. Then find an honest company that can offer up to date advice and help you actually save money by adopting an up to date strategy that focuses on concentrating control within strategic points of growth. Trademark Express is not the place to do this.

Very helpful. Always responsive. Can't say enough good things about them. Everyone of them just terrific. They saved me a lot of time and money and helped me every step of the way.

Chris is belligerent, condescending, rude, and unfriendly. After refusing to remove me from his mail "list", I called. After requesting verbally to be removed and that "I don't need your services", he insisted "...I think you do". Not the way to operate a business. This is reminiscent of Comcast Communications.

Trademark has helped me immensely! The trademark process can be rather tricky, Chris was extremely attentive to all of my needs and concerns. I appreciated that he and his staff took the time to make sure everything was filed correctly. At first I did not think research of my trademark name was necessary however once it was done, I realized just how important it truly is. They prevented me from infringing on another's trademark. I had to change my name which was a little disappointing but it's simply what needed to be done to avoid any infringement problems in the future. I'm very lucky I found Trademark Express I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for services related to trademark. Thank you Trademark express!!!

I called thinking this would be less expensive than my attorney but Chris became very UNPROFESSIONAL and scary guy yelling when I explained after 5 mins on the phone that I did not want to go forward with it...he charged my card and now it is a dispute. I did not authorize payment yet before he was not authorized for the transaction yet.

I had a great experience working with the TM Express team. Marcela sent out my report and it was easy to understand and follow. My application was thoroughly handled by Cheryl and Carol and the whole process was overseen by Chris with care and helpfulness. It would have been a lot of work to do this myself so I'm glad Carol referred me to TM Express!

After I became completely confused by searching the internet about obtaining a trademark I came across "Trademark Express" and soon discovered that I was in great hands - I sent a message with a few questions and I received an immediate response. I decided to obtain their services and with each department that I dealt with I could sense the professionalism and knowledge of being able to obtain a successful trademark. I highly recommend the services of "Trademark Express" and I know who I would contact on my next go around......

While the process of obtaining a trademark is very confusing, Chris at TME was extremely helpful! He was always willing to answer any question and give suggestions even months after we were done with his part of the process. Definitely recommend without question!

HORRID. 5 Hour Trademark is their most expensive "top tier" service...try 5 months before the people at USPTO even start looking at your trademark...then when they challenge it (as 50% of them do) and you need to respond, they will tell you to call their attorney...of course he will charge you his regularly hourly rate on top of the hundreds of dollars you have already paid these people. For what? I don't know....you should expect to receive emails over and over asking for things you have already sent them...they will go silent after they get your money. It will be up to you to email them to find out what is going on....and nothing will be. There are many other places to get Trademarks. Google them. Don't give these.....people any of your hard earned money. You will end up with nothing but less money and no trademark.

Negative 5 stars would be too nice. I made the mistake of not reading previous Yelp reviews before contracting Trademark Express (TME). We started a Trademark application process in March 2017. In January 2018, our application expired and I lost all my money. In March 2017, we had agreed on how to submit the application, but TME made a mistake and submitted an incorrect application (right hand not talking to the left hand). The USPTO told us what to do to to fix it, which required resubmitting the Trademark application and a new $275 application fee. I tried for the next 6 months through numerous emails to get TME to simply resubmit the application correctly as instructed by the USPTO. But TME refused to incur the cost of the new submittal and tried to convince me to pay another $275 insinuating I wanted a second application for a logo anyway. What was most disturbing and unprofessional was that, as clear as I could state my case, using their own emails where they admitted that it was their mistake, the owner Chris DeMassa kept redirecting me towards filing a second application and requiring me to pay the $275 fee. He thought that by simply repeating his (irrational) false narrative about me wanting a second filing anyway, that I would eventually give in and send more money. I own a nuclear tech support prime contractor and am a former nuclear submarine officer in the US Navy and a former Regulator with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and have an excellent command of the English language. I am simply baffled by the lack of understanding, the irrational position, the unprofessional conduct and the refusal to act when presented with clear and factual information that shows TME made a mistake and they should correct it at their expense. Worst customer service experience ever. I hope that the $275 that TME refused to absorb for the new application was worth the price of this negative review. Bottom line: I would strongly advise everyone reading this review to find other, more professional trademark application support companies, as this and other reviews clearly state.
