No matter where you go in the U.S., the Trader Joe's are comforting in their consistency. With a few nods to regional differences (beer, for example), the Ann Arbor TJ's is not much different from the Bay Area TJ's that I would go to (Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda). But now I've relocated to Ann Arbor and the A2 TJs will do just fine. It's got all the usual fair-priced products, staples such as dairy products, canned goods, frozen entrees, and some produce. I say some produce because this is one area where TJs falls short, regardless of where you are. Hard vegetables such as onions, apples, red peppers are ok. The packaged kale, too. But stay away from the green beans!
Several people have noted the parking lot situation and I agree, it is a tough one. I went there on a Friday afternoon and ... big mistake. Cars snaking around the lot looking for a space to cram into. I asked one of the crew about this, saying, that what Ann Arbor really needs is a second Trader Joe's. He informed me that TJs had scouted out at least 7 locations on the West side of A2, but each one struck out for one reason or another. Stay tuned. It might happen one day and hopefully, with a bigger parking lot.
