NYC Grocery Stores In Pricy Neighborhoods Are Struggling Because Of COVID-19 | Eater NY

"At stores like Trader Joe’s, I noticed blocks-long, six-feet-apart lines and reports that goods such as disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper are being diverted from wealthier and lower-income parts of the city to meet demand in middle-income neighborhoods." - Luke Fortney

This Trader Joe’s runs smoothly. The store stays clean and organized. The aisles stay open enough for steady foot traffic. The shelves stay full, including the popular items that sell out at other locations. The produce section looked fresh and well rotated. The frozen foods area looked tidy with clear labels. The cashiers stayed friendly and moved the line fast. The front end stayed calm even with a steady crowd. Parking helped the whole visit since the back lot offered plenty of open spots and easy exits. You get a quick, efficient stop with solid service and a well-stocked store.

Shopping here feels like a treasure hunt—except the prize is snacks! Friendly staff, fresh products, and always something new to discover. My cart came in hungry and left stuffed.

I don't live near a Trader Joe's, so this was a treat. I absolutely love the sourdough bread, can't wait to try the pasta. It was a fun experience.

This place isn’t just a grocery store — it’s an experience. Every detail feels intentional: friendly, stylish, and attentive staff, an original interior design that reflects the Greenville Avenue vibe with its bars, restaurants, and shops, and of course the unique products that appeal to just about everyone. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too — sometimes you wonder how such good quality can be this affordable. I especially love the checkout design. Unlike the massive conveyor belts and machines in big chains, here it feels personal — you’re face-to-face with someone who’s ready to help and genuinely happy to see you. That small touch makes a big difference. As for the products, I was impressed with their own dark chocolate candies — really tasty and just a couple of dollars. The whole sweets section is great, with good ingredients and lots of options. Milk and dairy products are fresh and flavorful, and produce often comes with interesting deals. I also enjoy browsing the flowers and plants — always colorful and tempting. The only real challenge can be parking, since people visiting nearby places sometimes use this lot. That said, we’ve never had a time when parking wasn’t available at all. Each visit feels a bit like a treasure hunt — there’s always something new to discover and worth trying. Can’t wait to be back!

I haven't been into one before. So while we are in the area me and my spouse went and checked it. It totally is true they got fresh cut flowers that are cheap and you will totally be able to create a very good flower bouquet for under 20. If you are a florist if just love to have fresh flower I highly recommend this store.

My family and I come to this location 3-4 times per month and it’s always a joy. I want to take the time to Appreciate Ms. Kristin (Kris). VERY warm welcoming smile at checkout. Very helpful and caring.

Yelp
Trader Joe's has become our go-to neighborhood spot, literally right down the road from the house, and every time I walk in it feels like I'm stepping into a place that actually cares about people. I stopped in to grab a few bunches so I could build my partner a custom bouquet at home -- roses, winter peonies, and lilies that were all fresh, full, and priced better than anywhere else around here. The customer service at this location is phenomenal. The lady at the register saw the flowers and asked what I was making. When I told her I was building a bouquet myself for my partner, she lit up and said, "That's how you do it." Little moments like that just make the experience feel personal. Trader Joe's employees always bring good energy, and it shows. I took everything home, trimmed the stems, mixed the colors, and built the bouquet with my own hands. The roses brought the romance, the winter peonies added that soft winter elegance, and the lilies tied the whole thing together like a final touch only she would notice. While I was there I also grabbed steaks to cook her dinner later that night. Between the flowers and the meal, Trader Joe's basically gave me everything I needed to make the whole evening special without running all over town. When I handed her the bouquet and then served dinner, the look on her face made the effort worth it. Trader Joe's helped me turn a simple idea into a real moment -- thoughtful, genuine, and meaningful. Five stars for fresh florals, quality steaks, and customer service that actually makes you feel seen. This is why our local store stays our favorite.

Yelp
Trader Joe's isnt everyone's cup of tea however I love to go in and check out what other grocery stores aren't carrying - especially their Korean items. If you need flowers, this is always a great place to snag them and the fruit & veggies don't look like they have been picked over. I always find something new to try and they have lots of gluten & nut free snacks that I send to my niece.

Yelp
This store has the friendliest staff around. Every time I come to this location I know I'll have a fun conversation with an employee. This one stays well stocked and their parking lot is one of the easier locations when it comes to TJ's. The store is always clean and I feel like there's always someone restocking. I love the quality of food - literally the only thing I've ever been disappointed in is the eggplant freezer meal.

Yelp
This location is ALWAYS a good experience. Unique items and staples are reasonably priced and the Staff are so willing to help. I walk out smiling each visit !

Yelp
I love Trader Joe's. It's easy to be fooled by the parking lot being packed, and I do mean packed but you can always get in and out of this store in a breeze. I parked on the very last row near the fence because it was just that crowded but I was still able to zip in and zip right out. I picked up my groceries for the week (clean eating --- lol) and was on my merry way within 20 mins. Someone was there passing out samples of their pumpkin muffins, they were SOOOO good. I almost went and got a pack but since I have goals I left them there :( but I'll be sure to get some before the season is over. My only gripe with TJ's is that there are no locations near my house. I always have to plan out my day around grabbing groceries. It's usually my last stop after mall shopping and doing other things. Can we please get a location on the south side of town? We love Trader Joe's and promise to act right!!

Yelp
Trader Joe's is my go to place for all things delicious and beautiful. I buy great plants and flowers. There are always new or hidden Trader Joe's products to enjoy. This week's discovery was the Specially Selected Spicy Tomatoes and Chilie chutney and the Eggplant and garlic spread.

Yelp
This Trader Joe's is definitely my favorite in the DFW area. They always have every thing i want, stay fully stocked no matter the time of day and always has the freshest fruits and vegetables. I love going to this particular one because of the parking, it's not as congested as others and there's also parking across the street and nearby street parking as well. It's walking distance from coffee shops, restaurants and clothing stores which is always a plus. They are ALWAYS stocked with fresh flowers and plants. I've gotten 2 of my favorite plants from here that are still growing and thriving. They carry eucalyptus which I love because I keep it in my shower. Everyone here is so nice, they don't hesitate to help when needed at all. The restrooms are always clean as well! Oh and of course they have a variety of wines and beers starting at $1.50 which you can't beat.

Yelp
Picked up some goodies recently. This TJ was fully stocked in some seasonal snacks and other things. The mini everything bagel snacks and smores snacks were unexpectedly delightful. Def worth the try if you see them!

Yelp
I'm a late comer to the Trader Joe's party and have to own my "favorite-grocery-store" cynicism. It goes something like "Yeah I get it. You love Costco. So what?" But, I gotta admit that Trader Joe's is pretty great. And, the odd thing is you can't really do all your grocery shopping here. Still, it's become mandatory for it's customer base. Samples? Yeah Costco has them, but something about Trader Joe's samples are cooler, more organic, and perhaps simply benefit from a "less is more" approach. The selection of products is interesting, creating an experience that's close to window shopping for food than it is grocery shopping. And, I keep thinking I've seen the lowest price for my favorite Texas beers at other stores like WalMart and Winco. But, Trader Joe's beats them all, carrying Temptress by Lakewood for under $10. And then there's the selection of products here. The Trader Joe's buyers obviously seek out interesting, tasty, variety in they products they carry. It conveys an underground vibe, like "I can trust this store to find cool stuff to carry" like Watermelon Jerky and Everything Spice blend for $1.99. Think about how often someone says "I got this [insert product speaker loves] at Trader Joe's" and you hafta admit this store has created a brand simply by carrying a targeted selection of other brands. Unfortunately, there's not a location close to us, which may be a good thing for our budget!

Yelp
This is only the second time I've been in a Trader Joe's. The size of this store is small but I was able to find what I needed: kefir, hummus and a red pepper. The cashier was friendly and efficient. Price was actually pretty good! Less than I anticipated!
google avatar

Regina D.

Yelp
I have never felt so PUBLICLY humiliated in my life!! While shopping, the cashier accused me of using counterfeit money!! He never used the bill marker, but only because he says it was "thin at the top". Holding the bill to the light, all of the watermarks were visible to show that the bill was authentic. The cashier nor supervisor on duty never apologized for their "assumptions"!! Was this because I was "shopping while black"?? Had I been of a different race with blonde hair/blue eyes would i have been called out? I'm diabetic and this negative encounter ran my blood sugar up higher than its been in a while! Trader Joe's- Dallas needs to do better in training their employees! That store has lost my business! #traderjoesdallas

Yelp
Love the vibe at Trader Joe's! After watching a couple Trader Joe's Huals on YT an seeing many different Trader Joe's recommendations, I made my list an headed there Sunday evening. I arrived at 5:40 pm an the parking lot was pretty full. I also noticed a small line outside. Thankfully I found a parking spot right away an the line moved very quickly with one person out, one in approach. A gentleman working outside was apologetic for the wait an also there santatizing carts. I liked that! Right when I walked in i was hit with Christmas! The many sizes of fresh poinsettias, pinecones, and Christmas wreaths! Then as I stepped in further saw the most beautiful assortment of flowers. After I got over that, I realized how busy it was in the store. Busy but definitely not overwhelming. With the exception of 2 things, I found everything I wanted. The store clerk was very friendly also! Trader Joe's is the most festive grocery store I've been in for Christmas. I loved hearing the Christmas music. They even had a Christmas tree decorated in the front! I was in an out in 35 minutes an can't wait to eat my Trader Joe finds! I'll definitely be back for the fresh flowers (an if I need fresh Christmas decor!)

Yelp
I always find great food choices here and I love their non food products as well. Super great place to shop for all my grocery needs!

Nancy G.

Yelp
Great food quality and sekection. Unique items. Goid value pricing. Great staff responsiveness . Minimal wait at checkout

Lexy G.

Yelp
Tried to come here to buy groceries and got yelled at as I was trying to park and told "You can't park here." I tried to clarify that I was shopping at Trader Joe's and was met with a horrible attitude. I was trying to park in a clearly marked space that had a Trader Joe's shopping only sign in it. I won't be back to this location.
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
This one is one of the larger Trader Joe's I've seen. It was a lot of fun to walk inside and find some new thing I wanted to try. I never walk out of this chain without some new amazing thing that I just love to death. Love this place. They have a giant parking lot near a strip of shopping areas but don't be tempted to park here unless you plan to shop here as well. They have a security guard or officer patrolling to make sure people actually shop here if they park here.
google avatar

Penny K.

Yelp
There are several Trader Joe's you can choose from, but this location is my favorite by far! They're excellent on items in stock and their customer service is grade A+. They go out of their way to help you if you are looking for a particular item or if you need to know when something will be back in stock. The store is always clean, and the parking lot has plenty of spots compared to other Trader Joe locations. I go a few miles out of my way to shop here because it's worth it!

Md Parvej K.

Yelp
The occasional surprise giveaways at the checkout counter bring a smile to my face. It's a small gesture that adds a touch of excitement to the shopping experience.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Meh, that's all I can say. The set up of this place is almost identical to an Aldi's with items leaning on the organic side. I was very disappointed to see meat that was individually prepackaged (I'm talking one steak in a package). Also not sure if I just hit a bad day of the week, but all of the salad packages were going to expire within the next day or so. I ended up leaving and not purchasing anything since almost everything I needed was out of date or placed in small packages. This was also my first time visiting a Trader Joe's (everyone of my friends rave about it) and it's just not for me... I'll be willing to try a different location but this one is a NO GO.
google avatar

Monie H.

Yelp
What's to dislike here ---- nuttin'! Trader Joe's is great grocery store mainly due to their low (as compared to most other grocery stores) prices on pantry staples and their super friendly staff. To date, I have never met a rude or snarky TJ employee. They are always friendly, and happy to assist. When I'm wandering around looking lost, which is simply a general state for me, a smiling TJ staff member always approaches and asks if I need assistance :-) Their "Fearless Flyer" is my go-to for even deeper discounts. Across the country, these stores are set up in basically the same manner (definitely a plus in my book). You may notice that the items that local stores sell are slightly different in each city --- that also makes good business sense. I recently moved, and I was so happy to see that I still have a "neighborhood" TJ's!
google avatar

Jimmie M.

Yelp
Great store for all your organic shopping needs. However, Trader Joe's is a little rough for parking, as it is limited and tight like most stores. But, this place has a few more spots... I needed a few groceries and figured it would not be to busy after work...I was wrong...lol It was very difficult to maneuver around with my cart. I kept running into people. Aisles were narrow and difficult to navigate. It did not matter...beautiful people worth hanging around and smiles from most. Organic products abundant! Actually tried a couple frozen food items. I checked the ingredients and found some Asian items that really looked like a good choice.
google avatar

Trina W.

Yelp
On a mission to find pizza dough and while we couldn't find it ourselves a staff member took us to where we needed to be. If you haven't already tried the garlic and herb dough I highly recommend doing so. Also right next to it were pizza toppings like sauce, pepperoni, etc. The quality of all the ingredients was amazing in comparison to other pizzas we've made in the past. The store itself is very clean and I like that they have samples to try products you may not have necessarily bought prior to trying them out. They also have a wide variety of options that you won't find in your typical chain grocery stores like Walmart, Kroger, etc.
google avatar

Faith S.

Yelp
When I get the amazing flowers at Trader Joe's, people will literally stop me as I walk home to tell me how beautiful the flowers are. For the price of one marginal florist bouquet, I can put fresh flowers in every room of my tiny Uptown apartment. It's not the size of the space, it's the size of the style! Thank you, Trader Joe's!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
I love me some Trader Joe's! This is a great location that is fairly new. It is well maintained and has great employees that make the shopping experience even better. The food is not as expensive as one would think and the quality is top notch. It makes me excited to shop. I will be back, often! :)
google avatar

Chow Y.

Yelp
Ridiculous prices!!! I cannot believe what I just paid for what I got in value. Use your brain and go to any of the fine Mexican / Latin grocery stores in Dallas. These prices are absolutely insane. 1.5-2.5 x what I used to pay or more. Completely wacky. And of course, the usual attitude from former LA woketopians to boot.
google avatar

Andrea J.

Yelp
I have to say, I consider myself pretty lucky to be able to walk to a grocery store. Let alone, one of the best grocery stores in Dallas! I have never had an unpleasant experience here, even when they don't have what I want. The employees are super nice, the store is always clean, and the lines are never too long. I am disappointed that they stopped carrying one of my favorite hummus flavors, but they have a close second choice that has now become my go-to. Otherwise, they have a good cheese selection, lots of fresh produce, a small beer and wine section but it fits my needs. And I only buy my meat and chicken from TJs. Keep rocking!!!
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
One of those few grocery stores you can't wait to get back to see what they have! Lots of great old faithful items and the ever changing times! Please bring back my South African spice!!! This is a rare grocery store that gets someone like me that loves to cook excited! As well as my lazy days they have ready to throw in the oven goodness. So much selection at affordable prices is exactly why people come back over and over! Great parking at this location and lots of shops near by to grab a snack before and after! If you enjoy Trader Joes this is definitely a premier location in Dallas. Love there cheese and constant snacks that change as well as the all time favorite licorice! See you again soon!
google avatar

Sage M.

Yelp
Great store! Very affordable and appeared clean. Almost everything was stocked and displayed well and within reach. Only issue is too much alcohol. Also it takes up way too much room when there could be room for more produce, groceries or plants. Our cashier, David, was super kind and friendly! We discussed our beautiful dogs! I love dog people. This is definitely a great Trader Joe's. Needs a better plant section too but I'll be back when I can. Great cheese selection!

Yelp
I had no idea there was a Trader Joe's in the back of Truck Yard. I was there in a humid day and the sky was getting gloomier. I wanted to hit the road before it started to rain. As soon as I saw this brand new Trader Joe's building, it was like a long lost friend found. I got excited and I said to myself, "I'd better buy some souvenirs from Dallas to brag about in Houston." As I remembered Trader Joe's was a novelty store when I was in college. Silly me, time has changed. TJ is now a fancy grocery store. Although I didn't find anything with "Dallas" on it. So I deployed my plan B - buy something for my long drive home. As I think back, this was my first time visiting Trader Joe's in Texas. I was not familiar with the store layout. And, I was a little overwhelmed with the friendly staff, which made me want to stay longer and buy more stuff I really couldn't take with me. Fine. I'll come back next time when I'm in town. Finally, I found a sales receipt as the only souvenir of this Trader Joe's in Dallas.

Brandi M.

Yelp
This was my first time going to a trader joes. 2 people helped me pick out the most popular items and helped me with my questions. sorry I didn't catch the first persons name that helped me but the second one George was so helpful and took his time show me around. thank yall for all y'all's help! definitely going back.

Yelp
Quick look rating: 4/5 Food & Quality, 5/5 Service, 5/5 Experience Read the labels! You are mostly here to save money and eat healthy! What ever you do read the labels! Avoid sugar! They have a number of great fresh veggies and fruits at great prices! Love the flowers at great prices! The flowers are also bundled in different price ranges! I don't care if your on a budget, but now and then to pick up some flowers for your sweetie is priceless! Just do it! The fruits and veggies section are stocked well! If you have questions, here is usually someone near by to help out! Trader Joe's has some great customer service! It has always been top notch! *To note: To have a healthier experience, have a list a head of time, do not shop on an empty stomach, shop on the out side of the store ~ meaning the fresh cold sections. I have chatted with the folks here and they all are so helpful, friendly and helpful! I like this place!
google avatar

Victoria E.

Yelp
I love this place. It's small but has the necessary items I need. I like to come in on Saturday mornings and just walk up and down the aisles looking for new products to try. I also love stopping by the sampling table they always gave some unique combination that taste so yummy! The store is always clean and the staff is always so friendly.
google avatar

Tyler M.

Yelp
This is the most friendly grocery store I've ever been in. I've shopped here many times, but let me leave you with my most recent experience: The woman checking out in front of me forgot her wallet. Embarrassed and puzzled, she was preparing to walk out empty-handed after searching her purse. The cashier, Mark, promptly offered to cover the bill for her, saying "We do this all the time." He proceeded to pull out his wallet out of his back pocket, and paid for her groceries. Even though she didn't have an ID, he trusted her to come back and pay at the front desk so that he could be reimbursed. And he did so happily! It doesn't get any more friendly than that, folks.

Yelp
This spacious store has all the wonderful things you would want from a grocery store. Most of their products are of course store brand, and the quality is great. Friendly service, and the store has its own parking lot as a bonus. Convenient grocery location on Lowest Greenville!

Sue S.

Yelp
The employees here are beyond rude and lazy. I waited FOREVERRR to use the restroom And I could hear her just hanging out in there so I finally knocked on the door she answerers rudely like snaps "I'm cleaning the bathroom in here" and so I ask her do you know how long it will be she goes well I'm cleaning then just shuts the door. Uhm okay????? yet the cleaning supplies are outside the door????? On a texting break I guess... regardless no reason to snap at a customer who actually needs to use the rest room.

Yelp
Excuse me, pardon me, hi I need to get by, MOVE IT LADY! Please brush up on all of these phrases as you will certainly use them at this Trader Joe's. The space is small. I would say roughly half the size of the Whole Foods on Abrams and Gaston Avenue. There always seems to be plenty of people in this place as well. Everyone trying to get by each other navigating through the aisles with their shopping carts. However don't let the small size scare you away. The store is very well organized with vegetables and fruits, frozen foods, cereals, and drinks in each aisle. A good selection of wine and beer too. The biggest appeal here is price for the quality. Items appeared to be of very good quality including natural and organic fruits and vegetables, HFCS free snacks and a decent selection of meats, cheeses, breads and wine. Prices here seem to be much less than those of Central Market or Whole Foods. My wife and I walked out today with six bags full of groceries for less than $105. Only disappointment is no deli, bakery or meat market. All meats/breads are pre-packaged. There is a floral section with a good selection of plants and flowers. There is a decent size parking lot however this place does stay crowded. Conveniently located on lower Greenville Avenue, Trader Joe's is our new go to place for day-to-day groceries!!

Yelp
Trader Joe's is wonderful, but this location is the most friendly ever! I had foot surgery and needed to use their scooter, but I couldn't get from the car to the scooter without help. I called ahead and they brought it out to my car! They are always so friendly and the food is wonderful. My son lives where they don't have TJ's so I send his family cookie butter, Thai curry sauce, orange cranberries, and all the seasonal goodies like all things pumpkin right now.
google avatar

Yelp
Everybody has their TJ product pics...their favorite items that are only offered by the friendly grocers in Hawaiian shirts. Cheap wine, obscure nut varieties, frozen foreign foods from Trader Juan or Trader Ming. I do too, but today I encourage Trader Joe fans old and new to redirect their attention to some of the legendary "Opportunity Buys." Sometimes they are marked, and sometimes they are not. Sometimes they are everywhere, and sometimes they are a little harder to find. Sometimes you have to enter the store with the faith of a child waiting for Christmas. Keep your eyes peeled and the bargains will materialize. Yes Virginia, there is a saffron sauce. Thai red curry too, in case you were looking. For the past 6-weeks, they have offered Reata - a very nice chardonnay -- for $6.99 a bottle. The exact same wine retails at Central Market for $18.99. Asparagus for 99 cents a pound? Aye Aye captain...fill up me basket. So go forth with this new piece of Trader Joe wisdom and shop confidence. Once you are there, check out some of my TJ favs: Savory Rice Crackers Chile Spiced Mango Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups Almost Every Prepared Salad

Yelp
Even though we live near a Krogers, Walmart, and Super Target, my boyfriend and I always drive to Trader Joe's for our grocery shopping needs. The quality and price of their fresh, organic food just can't be beat. And I can never resist picking up some fresh flowers while we're here! Service is always friendly, and I love how quirky and happy their employees are.

Yelp
Yay! Trader Joe's has met me here! I was so excited to learn that this store that I fancied on the West Coast would soon be fancied in the Big D! My heart shan't break. If you're new to this grocery chain, know that it's a great place to shop groceries for 1-2 people, or for specialty meals for a dinner you're hosting. They have a lot of recipes they often pass out with samples and pre-packaged items that are easy to prepare and make you say "BAM!" in the kitchen. It's cute. It's healthy. They're health and beauty section is legit, and they have nice flowers too! Enjoy!

Yelp
Growing up in California, I never thought it was special living down the road from a Trader Joe's. In fact, I think I actually wasn't a fan back then. But as quality food has become more important and after not having one around for the last 10 years of living in Texas, Trader Joe's has suddenly become a novelty. For both myself and for the denizens of Dallas! I decided that the 2nd day of business was a good day to make the first visit. Greenville Avenue had extra bustle and you could tell many were headed the same direction as myself. I found parking to be fairly easy both on the street and in the parking lot. The crowds were definitely there but it wasn't complete insanity. The store is smaller than your traditional Kroger or Tom Thumb and the aisles smaller so navigating the grocery cart was a tad challenging in the Saturday crowd rush. There were many free samples of gourmet foods and wine which was nice. My favorite thing about Trader Joe's is their in-house store brand of quality products. They are reasonably priced and many organic options. The fruits and vegetables were bright and fresh, the dairy full of variety, and a massive wall of cheap yet good wines. However, while their meat department is of good quality, they are more expensive than Sprouts and pushing Whole Foods prices. Too much for weekly groceries! Overall, I can certainly see myself adding Trader Joe's to my regular grocery routine. It might have to be in combination with my beloved Sprouts but my old salty memories of Trader Joe's have vanished and I'm now a fan. The very friendly staff was a huge plus as well. So glad it's so close to home!

Yelp
We stopped in the store after having dinner on Greenville because we heard about it and wanted to check out what the buzz is about. The store is on the small side, but we were impressed with the prices. We saw some great deals on produce, meat, wine, and cheeses. I am not sure we could move away from Central Market and its opulence of choice, but TJ seems to be a very reasonable place to do shopping. We liked the store a lot and bought some wine and cheese. Parking is in the back.

Yelp
Amazing store with amazing people! Super friendly when I realized by almond cheese had milk in it. They were so quick to find me an alternative! Thanks so much I get to enjoy my vegan pizza with all TJ ingredients!

Yelp
I love this Trader Joe's. After moving to Dallas, I realized there was no HEB (why is that??) and had to find a new grocery store. Though TJs doesn't have all my favorite brand foods (ie pizza rolls, Raisin Bran), it does have so many unique options. I particularly like this location because the sample station is always amazing and the checkers are very nice. Never had one that I couldn't strike up a good conversation with. I love when this location gets seasonal as well; they do a great job decorating. Overall, a very well run and friendly grocery store!

Yelp
Despite living in the 'hood, I just visited this place for the first time last weekend. I love Trader Joe's. Cheap beer and wine, good samples, outstanding selection and prices on flowers. Walking around, listening to the piped in bluegrass music makes me feel like I'm in Austin, especially with the Truck Yard across the street. Always a treat to go here, always find a few special goodies when I do. Not enough to divert me from my go to grocery shopping standards, Sprouts for produce, Kroger's for mammal meat, and Central Market for almost everything else.

Yelp
Update - 3/18/15 I'm upping my rating to 3-stars after my latest experience. I had to return some items I purchased (see below), and all the staff was so laid back and chill and helpful. I love the atmosphere here and the service - maybe that's why so many other rave about Trader Joe's. Original Review: Maybe I'm the only person in Dallas who hates this place but here's a summary of my two experiences (I'll try to make this short & sweet). First time ever was opening day at the Ft. Worth location. Talk about a beating!!! It was complete pandemonium. I bought some beautiful looking muffins from their bakery that must've been sitting on the shelf for two weeks before the store opened. I didn't want to wait to get home to bite into one, so I broke open the package in my car and took a big bite expecting a moist muffin. Wrong! It was dry and stale! I would've returned the muffins for a refund but seeing how I live in Rockwall, I wasn't about to drive all the way to Ft. Worth to demand a refund so in the trash the muffins went. Next, I purchased some kind of orange chicken stir-fry that they were doling out samples of in-store. Made it for my kid at home and he said "never make it again". For some reason it tasted better in the store than it did at home. Meh. Last, I purchased a bottle of their bargain priced white Zinfandel wine only to discover that the reason it was so cheap was because it tasted like water! Seriously, I had to check the alcohol content to see if they were ripping me off. So fast forward to this Friday. After being non-impressed with my first Trader Joe experience three years ago, I decide to give the place on Greenville a try and ONLY BECAUSE my new hair dresser raved about their packaged fried rice. So I pick up a package of Trader Joe's Vegetable Fried Rice along with two packages of Spicy Thai shrimp fried rice and some egg rolls that were in the freezer case right next to it. Cooked up one package of the shrimp fried rice for dinner that night and it was BAD! First off, it had a bite to it and the spiciness ruined the flavor. My fault for not noticing it said "Spicy Thai" on the package. Then I bit into the egg rolls that I baked in the oven for 10 minutes. Another "meh" experience. There were four in a package - I ate two (reluctantly), and left the other two for my teen. He took one bite out of his and said, "Why is there liquid in it?" So in the trash the two egg rolls went. This was my second and last trip to Trader Joe's. Actually, I'll be going back today to return the two frozen packages of stir fry that I didn't open. I'm tired of spending money at this place and being disappointed with the taste and quality of their food. I just don't get what so great about this place!

Yelp
Trader Joe's is my favorite place to shop for groceries! Although it is not as large as some of the other grocery chains, it carries so many unique items that can only be found here. This particular location is situated right in the heart of lower Greenville, right next to Truck Yard. Every time I've been here, the staff has been super friendly. One of the things I enjoy most about Trader Joe's is its affordability. Here, you can get organic produce at just a fraction of the cost that you would pay at Central Market or Whole Foods. In addtion to the produce, they have a unique array of other products. Some of my current favorites include: - Cranberry Maple Nut Granola (gluten free and so delcious) - Roasted plantain chips (love these as they are roasted instead of fried, and are a good replacement for potato chips - Dried Turkish smyrna figs - Lobster ravioli Speaking of Lobster ravioli, they have other great pasta selections. I have sampled a good portion of them, and all of them have been very good. There are a lot of other items that I could list, but if you've never been, check it out yourself and see what piques your interest. Overall, great store!

Yelp
I never stepped foot in a Trader Joes because I assumed it would be another expensive market. The prices are so reasonable and they carry unique brands. I love this place!

Yelp
I absolutely love this Trader Joe's Location! Pros: + Fresh produce + Fresh, fragrant Flowers + Easily accessible + Samples - they will let you sample anything in the store if you ask + Large Parking Lot exclusively for Trader Joe's + After closing, the parking lot can also be used for other areas Cons: - Crowded during evening rush - Lots of construction nearby
