Tour Oakland Through a New Burger Passport That Highlights the Town’s Best | Eater SF

"I saw that Trader Joe’s has recalled its frozen Organic Tropical Fruit Blend again after a prior hepatitis A outbreak was traced to the same product; the company posted that there is potential Listeria contamination in units sold between May 12, 2024 and September 8, 2024, affected products have been removed and destroyed at stores, and customers who bought the product in that window should destroy it." - Paolo Bicchieri

❤️Trader Joe’s. I’d like to say that the staff, Kyle, is the best staff of Trader Joe’s I have ever met. Kyle is friendly, patient, organized, helpful and very professional.👍💯

Mounir Ennenbach

Google
I treat Trader Joe’s as my pantry, so I’m there at least a couple times a week. The workers there are super helpful and friendly, and most everything is stocked up at all times. It gets pretty chaotic some weekday evenings, but even when the line is nearly out the store it moves pretty fast. The produce at this location is also surprisingly good, especially for TJs.

PAUL RITZ

Google
It’s got all the great Trader Joe’s items. Fresh produce, meats, and vegetables. Tasty frozen foods and snacks. Plenty of selection in a smaller store format.

Google
Line is sometimes long but always moves quickly, and convenient location makes it easy to grab dinner ingredients on my way home from work. Staff is always helpful, friendly and funny. Gin is the freaking boy. You can tell he thoroughly enjoys his work and is eager to help, he always makes for some extra smiles while shopping.

Aaliyah Muhammad

Google
Best time to go is earlier in the day shelves are stocked, lines are shorter, and the staff is always upbeat and helpful. The store stays busy later, but mornings feel calm and organized. Always fresh produce and unique finds.

Google
Great shopping experience! Free parking lot with attendants directing traffic. Store and surrounding area was clean. The shelfs were fully stocked. I was pleasantly surprised to find their prices were reasonable and in line with other area grocery stores. I found many new items that I've never seen before and can't wait to try them all! Check out was fast and very nice with staff assisting customers. This is my new go to store!

Yasmeen Bynum

Google
Love love love this place! This my top pick of all the stores in my area. The workers are always helpful and giving out great recommendations. The parking situation ain’t that great. The parking lot is pretty crowded and it’s usually a wait to get into the lot. Otherwise great place. If you never been go pass and get some snacks. They have great snacks! I love the fresh flowers they always have too!

Google
Store is clean, well-stocked, and organized. Great prices for a college students/working adults in the city. Go early to beat the crowds on the weekends. Never disappointed with this Trader Joe’s!

Yelp
We really appreciated finding a Trader Joe's market near our Hotel. This saved us a bunch of money from many of the overpriced restaurants near us. We can always get fresh, organic food from a Trader's. Staff was as wonderful as any Trader's, always appreciate that. It's downtown, the outside of the store is filled with homeless and addicts wandering around - hey, it's a big city, pretty typical anywhere in our country currently.
google avatar

Yelp
We can all agree Trader Joe's as a whole has some of the best prices and products around! This location keeps most of their products in stock, but the building is very hard to access (entrance on back of street) and a very small parking lot that is almost always full or has a line around the block. The store is always extremely crowded so navigating can be hard, but they do get you through the checkout line quicker than you'd think. Overall - worth it for the great products and prices! Just expect a crowd and very limited parking.

Yelp
Always crazy busy but the staff manages the chaos well! The shelves are normally well stocked and the staff are friendly. Line moves fast and it's efficiently managed. Value is great and they have all the basics. I just wish they carried more grass-fed meat and wild caught fish...

Yelp
Trader Joe's has earned its brand equity as a quality grocery store that differentiates itself from others in the marketplace. The store sizes aren't overbearing, the products that are store branded are high-quality, and the service is exceptional. The store has such a phenomenal reputation, that it's difficult to decipher when you can shop without a long line to check out. Luckily, they are very well staffed and organized, and lines move quickly. Weekdays before 3:30pm are the best days to go, although, I have arrived shortly after they've opened and by the time I checked out, there was a wait, but only under 20 deep. On a Saturday or Sunday morning, even if you arrive within a half-hour of opening, there's a line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot! Some items are priced well and very reasonable, while others rise near the level of Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck). But, the number of people on staff is much more effective at Trader Joe's. If you have food allergies, just head to the customer service desk behind the registers to check out, and they have a preprinted list, several pages long, of most items in the store, with indications of which are safe for those who are gluten intolerant, vegans, etc. Employees are very helpful, the store is always clean, and at all times they are constantly restocking shelves with everything they have in stock. From produce, to cheese, meats and fish, fresh flowers, snacks, beverages, spices, dairy, paper, and pet products, Trader Joe's has you covered. With at least 12-20 registers going at any time, it's well worth the short wait. They offer free parking within 50 feet of the entrance. Convenience and quality makes Trader Joe's a great place to shop.

Paula B.

Yelp
I still like this store the best, although I think it should offer delivery. It also should have beer and wine sales like other stores. Otherwise, the smaller store size makes shopping easier. The personnel are always delightful.

Yelp
As a Rochester-native I think I am "supposed to be" a true Wegmans evangelist, but I've been shopping at TJs pretty much exclusively since the early pandemic days. When choosing an apartment here in Philly, I won't pretend "proximity to a Trader Joe's" wasn't on the criteria list. This location has a lot going for it, including a parking lot, fairly well-organized checkout processes considering the volume this store does, and great staff. Yes, there are often a lot of items out of stock and yes, it gets really crowded and hard to get around during peak times. Kind of par for course, so go during the week if you're able. Wednesdays at 8:30am is peak peaceful vibes, and I never have a problem finding what I need. Grateful this location exists and appreciate having access to all my fave things so easily!

Yelp
I came here on a Tuesday to get some chips & salsa & snacks for a work event the next day. I ended up buying too much, and had three bags of chips that were unopened & two things of salsa that were also not opened. I looked online & it said that Trader Joe's accepted returns, so I figured I'd return everything I hadn't used. I kept the salsa's in my work fridge, so they were still cold and fresh. I came down here to do the return, and the first cashier I dealt with was lovely, and she rang everything up for me, and was so nice and then said she had to get her manager to approve everything. He came over and was a bit of a jerk, and then asked me why I was returning the stuff and I told him, and he said that they didn't accept returns for overbuying which is completely ridiculous. He said had I tried it and not liked it, that would be one thing, but they couldn't take a return for any other reason. All of this stuff was unopened, and despite that, he said they couldn't re-sell it, which was just absurd, considering it was NOT OPENED and I had just purchased them 48 hours earlier. This stuff had definitely been sitting on their shelves longer than I had owned it, and, the salsas I kept in a refrigerator the whole time, except for the hour of my event, and the drive from work to return it. It's asinine that i couldn't return it. This is a fine store, but the experience of dealing with this douchebag manager was really forgettable and completely turned me off.

Yelp
The crew here is just such dogshit. They clearly hate the customers, and it kind of seems like they are awful to one another too. The vibes are just so bad.

Kamora C.

Yelp
Between the two Trader Joe's near my apartment, I'd say this one is my preferred stop. The vibe here feels more welcoming and warm. This location is very busy and fast paced, and since it's a smaller store - it tends to fill up quick. However, the staff handles this place perfectly and kudos to them. Most of the time, I'm rung up by someone that's full of positivity and conversation!

James L.

Yelp
Trader Joe's is the best! I'm amazed that they are able to pack in a large amount of good stuff in a relatively small store. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. Their checkout process is terrific. Even when long lines wrap around the store, you get out rather quickly. The on-site parking lot is a bonus for people who need to drive. It's a great addition to Center City and my favorite place to shop for groceries and produce.

Yelp
Having Trader Joe's right in the heart of Philly I think is an amazing idea. Even New Jersey does not have many Traders around. When I visited my friend in Philly and saw the store available just 2 blocks away I could not believe my eyes. Whoever came with the location was definitely very creative. The entrance is in the back of the street with an accessible handicapped ramp it. The store is clean with welcoming staff. Thank you for reading this and I hope you find this helpful.

Yelp
Lines are long during COVID, but they move fast! Everything is usually stocked, so you can get your grocery shopping on :) One interesting thing is (being from Alabama) that Trader Joe's in Pennsylvania do not sell alcohol. For anyone trying to get their peach bellini, you're out of luck. I had to go through the heartbreak, so I'm warning y'all ahead.
google avatar

Gloria E.

Yelp
Oh TJs! Don't think I've ever gotten a bad item from you. Possibly with supply chain issues, they might not have everything in the store you hope for, but they do cycle through special items and I often find everything I expect to see there. Even with long lines, the workers do an awesome job of check out and bagging up quickly.

Yelp
I've been to 7 diff locations so needless to say I love and support Trader Joe's. Recently I accidentally left a personal possession in the store. I was very frazzled in getting back there to retrieve (hopefully). The store was so gracious and put me at ease with their professionalism upon my arrival. Eric W. was a standout being kind, empathic & a ray of light and positivity!! He was genuinely happy that I was able to get my belongings. Not only that but he apparently took it to heart finding & following up with a manager. :) Not many would. In this day & age of people caring less or not at all- Eric W. is an amazing team member whose light shines bright & I hope he is recognized accordingly. Any company would surely be lucky to have him. My purchasing dollar always goes in the direction of aligning with my ethical & planet friendly practices and additionally with kind spirits, professionalism and thorough knowledge/training. I will definitely be using this location even more. Thank you Eric, I appreciate your spirit... your light shines bright!

Yelp
I love TJs I shop at least twice a month and I find everything I need. I prefer this organic store over others because of the quality and prices. I'll admit I've only been here once but I immediately liked it. It's super clean with hand sanitizer everywhere but it's a small space. They have everything the larger TJs has but fewer items since it's smaller. I called ahead for a specific item and was told to wait outside and yes I received curb side service. I had to go inside to pay and the young lady doing cue. Side delivery told me to go inside. I paid and was I'm out quickly. I definitely would return if I'm in the area and so should you.

Yelp
I'm on team Trader Joe's. The pricing is extremely reasonable and they have products I really want to buy. I'm lucky that this location is now a convenient stop for me. I'm even learning the times to visit...and the times to avoid it. If you don't want to wait in a line that wraps around the store, the after work rush isn't for you. I wish they'd ban shopping carts in this store. There's not enough space to start and then you throw in dazed and confused shoppers into the mix. As much as I love TJ's, this particular location is like that friend you have to walk on eggshells when talking to. Timing and temperament is everything. With that said, the convenience, price and products will keep me coming back time and time again. This may just be the review of the future Duchess of this location.

Michael A.

Yelp
We got this lettuce bag yesterday which was supposed to be triple washed as marked. We found a dead insect inside the bag as shown in attached picture This is very disappointing and I am very concerned to buy again from trader joes
google avatar

Yelp
A bit overwhelming for those that choose to make the endeavor on Sundays and Mondays. Patience is required for those that drive as there is frequently a line of cars waiting to enter the parking lot. The store is relatively well staffed and well stocked despite how busy it gets. It has the typical Trader Joe's goodies with the exception of alcohol due to PA beer and alcohol laws. I like how they have miniaturized the number of check out lanes a while back that allows for the line around the store for checkout to go relatively quick.

Yelp
3.5 Stars. This is definitely not my favorite Trader Joe's and that's a real shame as it's the closest location to me. This location is usually packed. PACKED. So much that sometimes I've walked right out without the necessary purchase I went in for. Ugh. If your schedule allows for an early morning weekday visit, that will certainly be your best bet! Other than that, bring MAJOR patience. Just like any other TJ's, the flowers are so pretty you'll buy yourself a bunch each and every time you walk in. The produce is always fresh and the TJ brand items are less expensive, equally delicious options for some of your favorite foods. Highlights for me are: The "riced" bagged veggies. Their house tabouli is my favorite of anywhere. The Cookie Butter is phenomenal. A jar doesn't last more than a day in this house. No joke. I also used their vegan, organic, paraban free tea tree oil face-wash. It's $6 and it's pretty awesome. It's been a staple for me for years now. Their appetizers and frozen foods are great for entertaining. This time of year is so fun at TJs! Pick up their Flyer for coupons and seasonal recipes! For the holidays they also have these incredible, beautifully boxed Harry David pears. They're said to be the best in the world! Try them! Yeah for clearly marked vegan and gluten free items! Staff is very, very friendly as they are in most TJ locations. Sample tasting happens here also. For a center city shop to have a parking lot is a HUGE deal and much appreciated, it's just the long lines that makes this location less desirable. Don't you dare try to "just grab something real quick" after work. Forget it! No such thing here. If it weren't for the crowds, I would shop at this location a lot more often. Whaaah! Oh, they have a lot of bike parking too! If you have kiddos which, G-d bless you bringing them to this location, ask an employees for sticker to keep them occupied!
google avatar

Gabriela S.

Yelp
I have stopped shopping there every week like I used to. The reason why is because the cashiers always ask "Did you find everything you were looking for?". When I answer "No, and I'll pack my own bags, thank you", they become annoyed and are rude to me. WHY do they ask such an asinine question? Of course they don't carry everything I need. For Asian ingredients I shop at Asian outlets, for Argentine ingredients I shop at an Argentine or Italian shoppe, for Mexican ingredients, I shop at a Mexican vendor, etc. I never *expect* to find everything I', looking for at TJ's. Are they really that disconnected from reality that they think they carry everything in the world that people are looking for? I now only shop there 2 to 3 times per year because of this nuisance.
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
We had a great experience at this Trader Joe's. The workers here were so friendly and helpful, and considering we probably came soon after the post-work rush, the shelves were more well-stocked than I was expecting. The only thing we didn't particularly like about this TJ's was that the entrance was in the back of the building. Convenient from the parking lot, but not obvious to pedestrians expecting to find the entrance right off the sidewalk. Once we were inside though, the experience was wonderful!
google avatar

Ariana A.

Yelp
I love Trader Joe's, especially because you can purchase fresh flowers for the lowest prices I have ever seen in my life. And by the way, I mean it when I say fresh - their flowers last me at least two full weeks so long as I remember to routinely change the water. The only downside of this place is that most times of the day when you walk in you are instantly overwhelmed by the mere sight of the check out line which always begins at the produce section. That said, the staff are incredible at moving the lines as efficiently as possible. I would hate on the people who shop while in line but the truth is that they are geniuses.
google avatar

RB R.

Yelp
Not a trader joe type of guy but I must that the aisle were and the there were plenty of associates there willing to help out. The one thing that is nice is that there is parking in the back!! I can appreciate this especially in the location of this Trader Joe's! The day that we went, there was a lot attendant who helped manage the amount of spaces available. A note of improvement was be that the check out process was a little difficult and confusing. Happy shopper people!!

Denisse L.

Yelp
Many new & innovative products. Easy way to try new products not found in regular stores. Short checkout lines.. will be back!

Charles S.

Yelp
I do not want to make anyone uncomfortable, but I went here today, and I just have to say that everyone, from the customers to the cashiers, is extremely hot. Keep up the good work, everyone. PS: The groceries were good too :)
google avatar

Bradford P.

Yelp
The meat quality really went down. Got the sirloin cubes, turkey breast, and pork chops. The expiration dates were more than a week away, yet the meat was already spoiling. The porkchops were sour, the turkey breast was grainy, and the sirloin cubes were completely unedible. Not sure what happened here, but I will be getting my meat from wholefoods from now on. Trader joes used to be very trustworthy but after having spoiled meat on three different occasions within the last month, something needs to change over there.

Destiny C.

Yelp
i love trader joe's. i just tried the butternut squash mac and cheese bites. my sister and i would give it a 7 out of ten. nice snack. it was giving less tasty mac and cheese and more a bite of cheese and mac. no crumbs were left tho.

Yelp
Trader Joe's was never our go-to store, but since COVID-19 began, they've become our favorite grocery for always being reliable, organized, and safety-focused. Disciplined crowd control (which does result in lines), amply sprayed-down carts, well-stocked shelves, and always-friendly workers have earned it the top spot in our bi-weekly outings. Plus, there are plants and cut-flowers to brighten your home and a number of shelf-stable sauces and seasonings to improve even the most questionable of home-cooked meals. Thank you to all of the workers who are showing up to Trader Joe's every day to help keep us safe and fed.
google avatar

Retna S.

Yelp
I always get the German goodies from Trader Joe's especially the ginger bread cookies and stolen.

Yelp
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this particular store. If you are a regular TJs shopper, you already know that some time slots are worse than others for perusing the aisles here. Lunch time any day, dinner hour any day, Friday after 3, Saturday after 9 a.m. Sunday afternoon. If it's possible to avoid shopping at these peak times, you will add years to your life and additional sparkle to your mental health. Philadelphia is populated with 1.5 million people and at least half of them shop at Trader Joes. Work out when they don't and you're golden. This store has wide aisles, is always well stocked when I go in, the lines are pretty orderly (for a Philly crowd) and the 'expediter' who sends shoppers off to a ready register is invariably funny and never fails to be efficient. Like every TJs I have ever shopped in, the cashiers are congenial and usually willing to make small talk that makes the day a wee bit nicer. Hell, I even get a kick out of the clanging bells here. Can you do all your weekly shopping here (or any of the other PA TJs)? No, but you shouldn't expect to. Like shopping at Mom's Organic, I come here (after I have eaten a meal) for what I call 'the bright spots' on my list. Watermelon flavored black tea (out of this world iced), frozen garlic naan, cheap cut flowers, the cheeses, vitamins. Everybody has their 'desert island' TJs items; you get the picture. This is a place that will help you stretch your shopping dollars. One of my best friends survived a year's unemployment in SoCal assisted by shopping at TJs and taking full advantage of the bargain prices. I never mind the long, snaking line to the registers here because it often allows me to spot something that feels like a must try (is this a store strategy?!), makes me re-think something impractically frivolous I put in the cart and allows me time to put it back and gives me an opportunity to talk to my line neighbors who have often turned me on to a new product I would have missed on my own. Oh, and add cart content spying to waiting in line as well. Of course, I am one of those annoying people who really likes to talk to my brother and sister shoppers so being social as I wait is no hardship. To staunch that rumor that Jenkintown TJs 'has more stuff,' nope. It does not. That parking lot looks out into a sparsely wooded area and you can spot some interesting birds if you are quiet and a keen observer, but the shelves and frozen food cases have the same stuff as Center City and Ardmore, North Wales and other Pennsylvania TJs. The Trader Joe's grass is not greener elsewhere.
google avatar

Krina S.

Yelp
This is a reliable Trader Joe's that I like coming to! It's clean and well-stocked. There are many very friendly employees and they're always giving out samples. There's a parking lot attendant WHICH IS GREAT!! If you come after 10am on the weekend, there will definitely be a line of cars waiting to go in, but it moves along pretty efficiently because of the attendant. Lines in the store itself can get pretty long too, but the cashiers must be super because it always goes by very fast! A great location that's easy to get to.
google avatar

Elisa F.

Yelp
This review is based on my recent shopping experiences at Trader Joe's not the quality of the products or the service which are all quite good to great...4-5/5 Shopping experience 1-2.5/5 Don't bother going to Trader Joe's on Friday after work, I mean like anytime after work ! So if work ends at 3pm don't bother! Don't bother! Don't bother! It is so nerve racking it will take all Saturday to recover - it's insane! I found my patience running low and a negative feeling about all people in general welling in my gut. I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE RANTS ABOUT THIS LOCATION. I'd like to blame the students because they overpopulate all of Center City for eight months out of the year and when they're gone the place is tolerably crowded - but well like poltergeists they're back and they are everywhere! But it's not their fault TJs refuses to open another location in center city or university city or south street like WHOLE FOODS did! Did you hear that Trader Joe's? Whole Foods opened another location and I hear they're opening a THIRD one in UC - or at least I'm starting a rumor that they are ! So hey Trader Joe's open another location! I can't take it anymore! I want to shop in your store but if you're gonna continue to underserve my community I'm going to quit you babe!
google avatar

Yelp
Trader Joe's is awesome. They have everything you're looking for and then some. The produce is not by pound, it's by each. Their seasonal items are a hit or miss depending on your taste buds. My daughter absolutely loved their pumpkin Joe Joe's and their pumpkin madeleines which ste their season items. Their frozen section is great too esp of yiure trying to save money on going out to eat for lunch. Staff is very friendly and it does get packed during certain times of the day or if a storm is coming since they are the only grocery store on 20th and market.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Despite the crowded store no matter what day or time of day you go, I have to give this TJ's a 5-star rating. It is my ride or die. Being the only TJ's in the city, of course its gonna be friggin swamped. The busyness is subdued by the friendly and attentive staff and the organization. There are attendants everywhere to help people out and allow you to shop with ease. The store is bigger than most I've been too and the products are fresh and versatile. Free parking and cash back. Yas kween...see you there!
google avatar

Randol H.

Yelp
I really like Trader Joe's but I don't think I'll be coming back to this one. They simply cannot handle the volume. The store is chaos, shelves are disorganized and often poorly stocked. The line literally wraps around and back again through the store. You cannot shop at all without cutting through the checkout line! How this isn't a fire code violation is beyond me, this place is so crowded and the crowd is so poorly managed that it is legitimately dangerous. One word - AVOID.

Courtney L.

Yelp
I've been coming to Trader Joe's for over 8 years and never have I encountered racism or discrimination until today. We were checking out and my boyfriend used an expired credit card by accident and instead of the cashier asking us to use another card he immediately assumed it was a SNAP/ EBT card( food stamps). Being two African Americans with full time jobs we have never qualified for food stamps and it was truly off putting for a Caucasian person to assume that food stamps is our only method of payment. I love Trader Joe's and rave about you guys to everyone and I definitely will make it known as a person of color you maybe discriminated against and even more disgusting that this particular location hires ignorant and discriminatory employees. Do better- bad enough we're the handful of people of color who were shopping, nonetheless you guys do have customers who aren't just Caucasian who love and enjoy your brand.
google avatar

Patricia Z.

Yelp
Definitely not the customer service here! Cali has you beat hands down! There are too many markets carrying good products these days...get a clue!
google avatar

Danni L.

Yelp
Fairly large sized Trader Joe's for the location that its in. It's almost always busy, though the line goes fast! Coming from the suburbs and going into a city TJs, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get everything I wanted. But this location has a good selection of fruits/veggies and all of your favorite TJ stock ups so i didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I came multiple times during the fall season and there is definitely no shortage of pumpkin flavored everythings (yum!) If you go for a bigger haul there is also a decently sized parking lot in the back!
google avatar

Cryssy M.

Yelp
:) I really enjoyed my first shopping experience. Yummy baked goods. (See photo lol) The flowers are priced right, beautiful and fresh. I got 12 roses for 6.99... Super awesome selection of drinks... organic juices for 3.50... kombucha starting at 2.99... bag of organic grannie smith apples for 2.99... great prices... super friendly people. If you say it's your first time at check out they give you s reusable bag:) fun... the only downer for me as a vegetarian was the lack of faux meats :( ... but the prices and unique selections make up for it :) I can't wait to go back and take my hubby... I wanna get this jug of aloe juice I saw for 7.99 :)
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Customer service here is always friendly and welcoming. However, the store didn't have any produce plastic bags available and that greatly inconvenienced my shopping experience. I've never been to a grocery store that didn't have plastic produce bags available... The store also gets extremely hectic during the late afternoon/ early evening time period.
google avatar

Joy M.

Yelp
Don't miss out on the unique orchestration of people, place and product at Trader Joe's! Trust me, you've never been to a market 'like' Trader Joe's. It's either Trader Joe's or bust. The quality products paired with reasonable prices is just the beginning of its glory! Standing in line at most stores can be a supreme headache, not at TJ's. Trader Joe's has a great system to manage and move the line, so you're never in check-out purgatory. A large part of what aids the process is their friendly, well trained, cashiers and also a dedicated line manager who diligently directs customers to available cashiers as soon as they are available. Lastly, my pet peeve at other stores is that I am often forced to re-pack my grocery bag after a lousy assemblage of my items by a distracted, untrained cashier. This never happens at TJ's. My dad owned a supermarket when I was growing up so one thing I know for sure is how to pack a grocery bag the proper way - and needless to say, Trader Joe's has this process to a science. I swoon when I see the bags at TJ's packed to perfection. It's the grand finale of a great shopping experience!
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
We were high maintenance at checkout, but SIOBAN helped us kindly, and gracefully. Y'all should really just say don't bring reusable bags! I felt bad we had to empty the entire cart before she could put anything back in... The registers do not have a ton of space for the employees to manage this with a full cart.

Yelp
I hope Trader Joe's pulls out strong in the Amazon/Whole foods 'future of grocery war'! I gave them five stars because I LOVE Trader Joe's, BUUUUUUT they should be adding new locations in Center City. It is poor business planning, and they better step up their game if they're planning to continue to compete against Whole Foods. Even Target is trying to take a piece of the grocery pie in CC with their 2 new TargetExpress locations. Today was the absolute worst day of crowds I have EVER seen at Trader Joe's in Center City, we had to actually wait for a cart because they were all taken!!! OMG!! I even took the time to make you a Planogram to demonstrate the ridiculousness of the situation. HA! Pleeeeeeeease open another store already!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
After shopping at Center City Philadelphia based Trader Joe's for the past 14 years, I have nothing but GREAT things to say. I love everything about this location. First the accessibility of 22nd Market St. makes it easy to get to by multiple means of transportation. Second, the many selections of vegetarian/gluten- free/ vegan friendly foods offers something for everyone. The service at Trader Joe's beats all competitors, in my opinion. The staff never seem to have an attitude, and even when extremely busy shelving boxes, unpacking merchandise, etc. they will literally stop what they're doing to make a customer feel valued. That is the definition of good, strike that excellent service. And that is why they're my favorite store!!

Yelp
One of the smaller trader joes I have been to, this store does offer parking but does not have alcohol. Situated in center city near Drexel university and on market st, it's packed on most weekends day or night. Good to go on the weekdays. Staff members are friendly and helpful. Lines even when it gets long isn't too much of a long wait as there are multiple cashiers and fast checkouts. They always have new products i have never seen before. Love the food as its always fresh and appealing. One of my favorite go to places for groceries. Will come back every week!

Yelp
I feel kinda bad for only giving TJs CC three stars, because they have the friendliest staff of any grocery store I've ever been to. I likewise love TJs products and prices!! The three factors that are tough to ignore: -Waiting 10 - 20 mins to get into the parking lot, even on weekday mornings before 11AM. -No express lanes, therefore having to wait 10 - 20 mins in line to purchase three of four items. -The number of casually rude/inconsiderate customers. I don't fault the staff and management at TJs CC for any of those factors, BTW!! The first two are purely on the top management of the company. The third is no one's fault, just the way it is. When I'm there and for the tenth time in five mins, someone's reached their arm way out in front of me to grab something off a shelf I'm standing directly in front of, and they're practically pushing me out of the way, I simply say "You can also opt to simply say 'pardon me' instead of practically pushing me out of the way." Sorry, can't help but add that it's usually young women on their phones, in yoga pants, and wearing U Penn or U Penn Alum sweatshirts who are the ones most commonly doing that.

Yelp
Trader Joe's is aweseome. This location is in the middle of Center City AND has free parking while you shop which is a rare thing in a middle of a big city. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was standing by the cheeses (looking lost) and a worker came up to me asking if I needed help. How's that for service. You can find a large variety of unique food/non food items that are healthy. This week mains item was Kale, pineapple salsa and goat cheese. There are always plenty of friendly cashiers and its one long line with a staff member directing you to the next free cashier. This makes the line move super quick. I've seen the line wrap around 2 aisles and it was less then a 5 min wait. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I was quite overwhelmed by the options here and boy was it crowded, but the staff, in particular, made it bearable. I rarely shop at Trader Joe's, though I definitely should shop here more. Their products are unique and I wound up grabbing a few things I hadn't planned on grabbing. Pros: The staff was very friendly. I shop in some grocery stores and the staff seems down-trodden and barely helpful, but in both cases where I needed help, the folks here were great. They walked me to the aisle where I needed to find my item. No grumbling. That was a nice change for me. Also, though it was crowded (madness, I tell you), the lines moved swiftly and they seemed to have a smooth and functional system of moving people in and out. Cons: Tight, in my opinion. Maybe it was due to the crowd, but I just didn't want to stay there any longer than I did. I could barely step one foot to the left or right without running into someone. Thank God I had the cute little midi-cart and not the full-sized one. Maybe going at another time that isn't a peak traffic-time (I went at 6:00pm), might be a little better.

Yelp
I've finally found a great time to go to this Trader Joe's, unfortunately, it's at 9 in the morning when you're supposed to be work. It was great though, no lines you could easy walk through the aisles and not bump into people, easily pick things from the shelves, hell it was so slow they only had about 6 or 7 registers open! The only reason I'm taking stars off is because some of their hipster employees can be very rude and OPENLY make fun of people.

Yelp
I really do love this place. Many items are super-cheap, although some items could be more reasonable. The staff at the check-out lines have always been 100% helpful and friendly - that really makes the experience nice for everyone!! I only wish that TJ would make a West Philly location - Center City is super-crowded!!!!!
