Here’s The Timeline For LA County’s Restaurant Closings/Reopenings During COVID | Eater LA

"I observed that Trader Joe’s was cited among neighboring businesses that received Department of Building and Safety notices and fines for posting vinyl banners advertising they were open for takeout and delivery." - Eater Staff

I like the Trader Joe's on 400 S in Salt Lake City. It's conveniently located for those staying in hotels or time shares downtown (especially if you have a rental car). It's well-organized and has the usual range of good products Trader Joe's sells. When I arrived in Salt Lake last evening, I shopped at a competitor and then when I went to Trader Joe's today, I found things I had bought at the competitor's store were much more expensive than at Trader Joe's, for comparable items. I appreciated the friendliness and good manners of the young fellow who rang up my groceries at Trader Joe's today -- friendliness and good manners often being at a premium in Salt Lake City. I recommend this place highly.

The chicken mole has a nice touch of spice, just enough to give it some kick without being too strong. The sauce is rich and flavorful, and it goes really well with the tender chicken. Overall, it’s a very tasty and comforting dish.

Love Trader Joe’s and shop here all the time. The staff are friendly and the store is well stocked. However, at this location I have been approached in the parking lot several times by aggressive homeless people asking for money. In one instance I had to call the police because one of them ran straight at me and started yelling. Because of this, I sometimes choose other locations, especially after dark.

Google
Trader Joe’s is a staple for my family every time we travel to an area that has them. They are always packed inside, yet everyone one is cordial and polite. The staff is always helpful and cheery, and this location was the same. Trader Joe’s makes it easy to love them, great products, and great staff. This particular store is fantastic in all those attributes as well.

Google
Great store! Good prices. They have cheaper hummus/dips than my local grocery. Lots of unique items. There parking can be a little busy and tight especially on weekends and there store as well. They probably have the cheapest eggs in town right now.

Google
I love Trader Joe's! But wish they would put one down in St George, UT. We would shop there everyday, but sadly they just keep building them up North and ignoring us down in Southern Utah. I love the fall when they bust out all their pumpkin items. Bought advent calendars for Christmas. Busy location, but will stocked! Please, for the love, build one in St George!

Google
Trader Joe's offers a vast selection of products, including a wide array of kosher foods. The friendly and helpful staff make shopping a pleasure. It's a fantastic grocery store with something for everyone!

Google
Trader Joe’s is always an awesome experience. The ambience is inviting and bright. The staff are attentive, welcoming, accommodating, knowledgeable, patient, and awesome. The produce and food selection overall is amazing! You’ll find things you never knew you needed. The snacks!!! The snacks are amazing. From cookies, to chocolate to cookie butter to dried mandarin oranges. I will say I absolutely loved and completely miss the chocolate covered potato chips!! Please please please bring those back. If you haven’t been to experience this store go! You must!

Yelp
This trader joes is smaller than the other ones in Salt Lake City Area and seemed to lack a few of the products I was looking for that I've found at other Trader Joes. Also I do recommend NOT going on Sunday, a lot of the products were out of stock and it was quite crowded. The employees were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I come here all the time. I last reviewed this place nine years ago. A few days ago, I attended the funeral of a very good woman. My son and I came here a few hours later. I wasn't crying or anything, but the cashier looked at me and could sense something wrong...and asked. I shared briefly about saying goodbye to a friend at her funeral. Cut to the chase, he gave me a bouquet of flowers and a hug... wishing me a better day, and that he knew how I felt. Yes, I was crying at that, but SO grateful at this unexpected kindness. The food ..the atmosphere...always a plus. The staff is always amazing, but this gentleman went out of his way to be kind. You can't pay for that.
google avatar

Kristy M.

Yelp
Fantastic location. Very conveniently located and spacious, this TJ is always well-stocked and organized even when they're busy. All the employees are helpful and friendly and the selection is top notch. They do get busy on weekends and right after work hours, but the lines stay managed and the wait isn't ever too bad.
google avatar

Kian N.

Yelp
This trader joes as others have commented is smaller than the other ones in the area, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on many products. The employees are kind, helpful, and quick. It can get crowded at times, but it is still worth shopping at Trader Joe's for the products they sell. And lol as of 3/3/25 they still have reasonably priced eggs.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I love this little Trader Joe's! The cashier at the front was awesome and explained to us what type of products they carry. This is a great place to ship if you eat nonGMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc. They have so many great products to choose from. Two of my most favorite products are the Cookie Butter I've cream and the Trader Joe's fry sauce. We also tried the salmon and it was to die for! I wish this store was closer so I could frequent it. I'll be sure to stop by when I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Abby's service was subpar and rude. I was waiting in line and she wasn't assisting anyone and ignored me. A guy came out of the blue to her an I said "excuse me" and he apologized and I said that's okay and wanted him to go. He allowed me to go first and Abby said nothing to me and barely looked at me. One star for Abby.

Yelp
I always need to both emotionally prepare and financially prepare for entering this Trader Joe's. I saw a tweet one time that said "Trader Joe's will $3.99 your butt to death" and that couldn't be more true whenever I come here. Oh, it's only $3.99? I'm going to get it. I have to emotionally prepare for this location because it's always busy and I don't love a crowd. I've experimented with coming at different times, and the best time is always right before they close, although then I feel rushed. The line to the check out is usually pretty long but they move through it so quickly! The staff here is always so friendly and helpful. The snacks are delicious and they frequently have new snacks and seasonal items added. My go-to's are always in stock. The only thing I don't love about this location is that the produce isn't always the best. I usually try to get my produce elsewhere, because it's very hit or miss here. And, because it's Utah, there's no $2 wine here (is that still a thing at other locations?) They have a wide variety of fresh flowers and plants, and this place just makes me happy. I'm the queen of getting snacks I don't need, and they always have plenty of them!
google avatar

Janeen D.

Yelp
This Trader Joe's is close to Trolley Square and has an urban feel to it. If I am running errands closer to downtown, I will definitely shop here. It is always super busy and everyone who works here is helpful and super friendly. I love their ravioli and tortellini. Some other things I buy frequently are pizza dough, Volpi pepperoni, olive oil, hummus, fresh veggies and lettuce. They also have some nice prices on flowers and plants which vary somewhat with the seasons.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
If you're looking for interesting treats that aren't gimmicks, TJs always delivers. Their seasonal selections are always second-to-none. Walked in during the noon-hour to see a 20+ people in line to checkout. 5 minutes later that line was completely processed. This is how they keep me coming back...awesome service. I'm not even their demographic, and really don't fit in here...but I still feel welcome and will keep coming back for the PB Cups and the Christmas Kringle (run, don't walk to get one.)
google avatar

Yelp
Always lovvvvve a Trader Joe's trip! They have the BESTTTT flowers of any grocery store floral department! Their staple foods are key in our house, and their limited time options are ALWAYS a fave to try in our house! The staff is always a spot of light, with smiles & fun meaningful conversation while checking out. I drive 20 minutes to get to my closest one each week & its 10000% worth it.
google avatar

Vida A.

Yelp
Update time! This place is always packed but I manage to find good parking every time. The fresh flowers are a steal and so are the orchids. They sell fast tho. Especially during holidays. I don't really shop produce here. I love the different crackers, ethnic frozen food section and the dips and cheese. Things I can't get at smiths. This is after all a specialty store with affordable prices. No wonder it's always so crowded in here! Also another nice thing is that check stands are all open most of the time. At least busy times which matter the most. No plastic bags used here either which I love. A++
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Love this location and it's staff! I am impressed with their variety compared to the other two locations in the state! They have TERRIBLE parking but that's not something to fault them on. They have a better register help system than others as well
google avatar

Joe F.

Yelp
So many varieties of goodies!! The cashiers always make conversation and sound happy. Awesome company.
google avatar

Holly A.

Yelp
Heard they had Peony flowers in and they did not disappoint. Also grabbed some dill pickle hummus, pita chips, strawberry Mochi, veggi burgers and a few other favorites. Be prepared you have to wear a mask to enter and wait outside until you can go into the store. Dang you Covid 19!

Yelp
I'm pretty sure I have written a review for this location before, but why not update it: Living in Hawaii, tradition dictates that one bring back small gifts or tokens when returning from any trip - either domestic or international. To fulfill this requirement, Trader Joe's (whenever possible) is always my go-to option. This location is relatively large in comparison to other locations. Although it might just seem that way because there isn't a alcohol section. The staff were fantastic - as expected. The store was clean - as expected. The store was well stocked with a huge variety of products perfect for gifts to bring home (cookies, chocolates, nuts, etc.) - as expected. Not much more to add except that Trader Joe's has set the bar high for product quality and customer satisfaction. Love this place. Too bad we don't have a location in Hawaii.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while. It's a pretty small-ish store, but it probably only felt that way because there were 10 billion people here on a Saturday afternoon. There were lots of cute plants to be sold. Pretty reasonable prices. Seemed like plenty of produce, nice organization, good flow, sly product placement. There marketing team should get an award. I tried my best to find some cookies that were suggested, but I couldn't find them anywhere! I decided on some peonies 5 stems for $7.99. Not a bad deal. I found some frozen items we can enjoy. I found myself wanting a reusable bag also. The checkout was simple and easy. Might be back sometime, but maybe not on a Saturday..

Yelp
Trader Joe's has such a calm environment, and everything is so organized. You can find everything you need in such an efficient manner! I went in with my 2 year old son, and we found a ton of things that he actually ate! My son never eats! I was so excited! Food is fresh and delicious, and I was even inspired to cook more and create new recipes that turned out amazing! Very happy with my journey out here, I can't wait to return!

Yelp
Trader Joe's seriously FOR THE WIN. I have never had a poor experience here. Very reasonable prices for the quality of food purchased, unique treats to constantly try, insanely delicious samples, and some of the nicest employees you've ever met. They go above and beyond when it comes to customer satisfaction, and EVERYONE in the grocery business should take a crash course from them. To hit on the reasonable prices: I love that most of the produce is priced per item instead of per pound (there are still some like that, but when you want apple that day, it's nice to know you just have to budget 69¢ instead of eyeballing "a pound"). Also got all of my school lunch for the week for $10--loaf of whole grain bread, natural peanut butter, honey, and a sack of dried mangos. Honestly, a steal. Which is a perfect segway to lead into a discussion about their samples. Love anything free, first off, but love it more if it's tasty. You walk in and have the option between cookies or chips and salsa, better yet just try both. Even when you're not hungry, a sample makes your day that much better. And the thing that really pushes my review to a solid 5 stars: their employees are about as incredible as they get. Special shoutout to my new pal, Mark, for helping meet my friend's expectation of Trader Joe's (I definitely set the bar high, but Mark was so above it, it was just a dot to him). Not only him, but everyone else is phenomenal. Bravo, Trader Joe's, I'll always come back--and I'm bringing more friends. TIPS & TRICKS: * The organic coconut body butter is the best and lasts a long time, try the pumpkin one in the fall! * Pineapple salsa + blue chips, you can thank me later. * Purchase greeting cards and flowers here too, and don't forget about the frozen chocolate dipped bananas.

Yelp
The location I'm close to is small so of course it's busy and crowded the times I've gone. You don't see a lot of people of color in there so immediately you can feel a little out of place but as soon as you're in contact with an employee? It doesn't matter. They make you feel right at home every time with a genuine smile and a willingness to help you with whatever questions you have. Even if they are mid task they'll drop it and help you. I've only been there 5 times but that's been my experience every time. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible to buy something from there that doesnt just taste delicious and homemade! Their clam chowder is rather just buy from there for a good price than to get it at a restaurant! The only downside? Parking and it's a smaller location but I'll take that over not having a Trader Joe's nearby.

Yelp
Let's be serious. If this place doesn't float your boat, really, what would? Back when I was a young lad I moved to San Francisco and I couldn't find a grocery store near my place. So I saw this place called Trader Joe's. I saw people coming out with shopping baskets... And I really needed something to eat so I went in and bought some groceries. I thought to myself it was very quirky. Products were packaged differently. These packages seemed to be arranged Withings the isles with some logic, meaning and intent. Almost whispering suggestions at you , rather than clobbering you over the head with something that you didn't expect at all because it made no sense for it to appear in your line of sight in this place in at this time in space and time. Strangely, everybody seemed really happy I don't just mean the people who work there, but so did the customers. There were people in the isles, talking about the food. Comparing notes. Again, very curious. So anyway, I get through the checkout line and the person at the cash register presents the total... I then informed her that she must be incorrect, and that clearly she had missed some items, because I knew that I had purchased more than the equivalent of that amount in dollars as it appeared on my receipt . She assured me that everything was correct and I, like a dick, was very insistent. What I found out about Trader Joe's is they kinda have a mission. not kinda but they do have a mission and that is: to offer quality food at a reasonable price. I've been a diehard, and I mean a real diehard, ever since that first encounter. They have never failed to live up to that first trip to Trader Joe's many years ago in San Francisco. Not one time. I've been with them through New York City for 13 years and now Salt Lake City. I basically put two companies at the top of the mountain. Apple and Trader Joe's. They do more than make me feel welcome. They make me feel like I'm valued there. They offer delicious products. I have a friend in New York, who insists that they put heroin in their food because unlike other places where here food purchases may go bad in the fridge and she throws it away, no matter what she buys a Trader Joe's...She eats every bite of it . She may be on to something there...They both surprise and delight. I've heard the complaint of both of these businesses that people are just too happy and perky there. It's not realistic. What a wicked, salty, and obscene observation. Keep smiling you guys, it always means a lot to me.

Yelp
This was my go to Trader Joe's when I was working on base. It had every thing I wanted back in the day.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Stopped in here yesterday as I happened to be in SLC. We need one out in Ogden area. This place is over crowded. Parking is horrible. I miss the Trader Joes in California. More of everything there. I think it's time to move this one to a larger store.
google avatar

Haley S.

Yelp
I love this location. As with all Trader Joe's, the staff here are so friendly and helpful. I have been impressed with their ability to keep shelves stocked and maintain social distancing during the pandemic. I wish the store were a little bigger, because it is starting to feel a bit more crowded, and it seems like they have a smaller slection of items than other TJ's locations. But still, this stores ROCKS. A few musts: 1. Their chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches 2. Their cheeses- brie, gouda, goat cheese 3. Olive Tapenade 4. Trader Joe's Magnifisauce (much like Fry sauce) 5. Any of the bagged salads 6. Veggie Breakfast Sausage
google avatar

Alan H.

Yelp
I have a love/hate relationship with Trader Joe's. I love browsing through the store and checking out all the unique products that you can't find at the typical grocery store. I hate that I always buy too much of the unique stuff I find however! Store personnel are always helpful and friendly. What I don't like about this particular location is that they only have a limited selection of five or six local beers and NO 3 buck Chuck available. Now that's not Trader Joe's fault, it's the local alcohol laws that's prevents them from selling it. But it still sucks! Aside from that, it's a great store and fun to shop at...
google avatar

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
I've come to appreciate Trader Joe's. There was a time not too long ago when I didn't get it. And I will probably never really understand the fervor and the passion that comes out of some people. When TJs was first announced in Utah, it was pandemonium. But over time, with much experimentation, I've come to appreciate what TJs has to offer. Number one on my list here is the people. Shoutout to all the kind people who genuinely love what they're doing and love everything about Joe and his Trading. A close second though? Flowers. Oh man, I don't know when grocery store flowers got so bad, or at least so plain. But in a sea of bad roses, Trader Joe's is bucket after bucket of seasonal peonies, anemones, daffodils, tulips, hydrangea, and more. I've also learned about the food situation, and it's all about quick, pre-packaged goods. There are some gems among the produce, but here also it's more about convenience and pre-packaging. I've had some great road trips over the last year or so, and TJ's is for sure a spot you want to hit up before a road trip. Health food it is not, but chips, cookies, dried things, chocolate covered things... they have a lot of prepackaged or processed stuff that's super convenient when you're out on the highway. I don't come for routine grocery shopping, but snacky time makes a great stop here. So that's how I use them. Flowers are like a twice-monthly stop (I peeped some anemones a few weeks ago and within an hour I saw someone else on IG had posted pics of the same). Snacks as needed. And of course the friendly faces.

Yelp
Smack dab in the city of Salt Lake, this Trader Joe's is a nice one. Parking is easy, the store is well laid out, items were in stock, employees are nice. Love the products, glad to find my favorite grocery store while on vacation!!! Super cute Utah red rock arch display!!!
google avatar

Lacey T.

Yelp
At this point I think you are probably familiar with Trader Joes, so I'll just mention what makes this location different from others. I generally frequent the Cottonwood Heights/Fort Union TJs, and this Salt Lake location is quite a bit bigger. Because they carry the same items it shouldn't make much of a difference, however they had way more flowers, and the orchid selection was much more varied. I was in orchid heaven! I even found a Paphiopedilum (for $12.99, what?!). This is enough that I will make a point of going out of my way and checking out this location at least a few times a year. They were also definitely busier, but that's to be expected and it wasn't too bad. In fact, I felt like the aisles were a little wider, and there was all around more cart space than at my normal TJs. They had cute artwork for their boards, and one featured Daria. Love! Employees seemed just as friendly and helpful as other locations, and this is a big reason why I love Trader Joes. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping by, even if you generally frequent a different one.

Yelp
This is such a fun place to shop! The employees are always so friendly, engaging and helpful! The products are fantastic and always easy to find. We have so many favorite products and we have never been disappointed when trying something new.

Yelp
Has all your trader joe needs and very covid appropriate. Frequently visit here. Thank you for the amazing products and helping keep us safe.

Linda R.

Yelp
Hubby and I found this Trader Joe's in order to stock up for our Teton adventure. This location was easy to find, and had all of our go-to Trader Joe's staples. However, this store is very small. Anyone stopping in the middle of the aisle will create a traffic jam. The check-out was quick. Good to see the consistency of Trader Joe's.
google avatar

Shakira A.

Yelp
I really enjoy walking through the aisles at this Trader Joe's. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I can find everything I need when I get there late in the day. Perishable items are fresh and delicious. Customer Service has helped me when I needed them.

Yelp
Trader Joe's is so bomb. It's a piece of my past that's made its way to Utah! As an undergrad, I used to go to Trader Joe's ALL the time because it was right across from my school! They have such affordable prices for good produces and snacks! I love their reduced guilt potato chips for only $2 and their spicy hummus for $2! They have kale for about $2 and organic kale for only 20-30 cents more! They even have $3.50 6 pieces mochi ice cream for half the price of most asian stores you will visit in Utah! Even service is awesome! People here are so nice, and they even give you samples! Parking is a downer sometimes though, but if you go during a weekday it's not bad at all! +1 Star: Prices are awwwwwwesome for organic eaters! +1 Star: Really good service! There are always stockers around willing to answer any questions to the best of their knowledge! +1 Star: Huge varieties of food, especially for anyone looking to stock up on snacks! +1 Star: Everything's kept very neat and things are constantly restocked! +1 Star: It's TRADER JOES in UTAH!

Yelp
I love Trader Joe's. I love what they offer and how they make all their own foods. There's such a great variety of foods to try. If you ever want to try something in store, an associate will open it for you to taste. The customer service can't be beat- you can return anything you didn't like, no questions asked, for a refund. The associates are always happy to assist. I'm always discovering new and awesome things to try that end up as favorites I keep coming back too. I'll stay a regular here and so glad we have them in Utah!

Karyn B.

Yelp
I would like to express my extreme gratitude to the employees. Earlier today We were loading up on all my favorite things. Drove from Idaho! While there. My son experienced a seizure. They were so helpful and kind. Made a traumatic day for us much easier. Not only do you have the best products. But the best employees!!
google avatar

Shadi A.

Yelp
How could you give Trader Joes a bad review. Things I recommend: -Trader Joes Vanilla and Cream yogurt (comes in a pack of 6) with two flavors in the pack -The 100% (not from concentrate juices) are all good--Pomegranite and Cranberry are my favorite -Teriyaki Tofu -Olive Hummus with their organic sugar snap peas -Olive Tapenade with their Brioche crackers -BBQ Chicken Salad - Balsamic Vinegar -Cheeses: French Triple Cheese Brie, Wisconsin Sharp Cheddar Cheese and, their goat cheese covered in the purple jam - Paneer Indian food -Pumpkin Pecan Instant Oatmeal (Seasonal) -Coconut cashews -Coconut oil (which I use to remove my make-up on a cotton ball with a little bit of water) Overall, every once in a while I go to Trader Joe's to stock up on my favorites! Their customer service is great and they are open till 10pm on Saturdays. I will say that occasionally I've been mischarged for something twice etc which is annoying mainly because I don't go their that often to bring it up but that can happen anywhere. I also really like that they have more vegan and gluten-free options here.
google avatar

Chelsey C.

Yelp
Trader Joe's has always been a staple for spinach artichoke dip and Mochi, but recently I have discovered their beautiful floral section! The orchids and fresh flowers are beautiful and very reasonably priced! I was surprised by the large selection of orchids at Trader Joe's. I picked myself up a nice purple orchid, it was very cheap too! Only 12.99! If you aren't stopping here for food you should definitely check out the floral section!

Yelp
TJ's does not need me to tell them how awesome they are, but out of gratitude I must. I have been a HUGE fan for years. I used to joke that somehow they sent a researcher into my brain to design the perfect grocery store. But then my husband and I started an extremely strict diet for fertility reasons. No BPA, no parabens, grass-fed/pastured everything, all organic, I could go on and on and on. I started shopping at Sprouts, foolishly assuming that TJ's would not have all of the weird hippy stuff I need. But when I stopped in to stock up on coconut oil and almond oil, boy was I surprised! Not only did they have most of what I needed, but it was half the cost of Sprouts! I can't tell you what a huge help it is to have organic marinara sauce and salsa with no sugar and in glass jars for a reasonable price! (Anything in cans is off limits for BPA/BPS reasons, so replacing tomato paste for recipes was a must!) My only two requests: fats and acids leach the plastic of their surroundings more than anything else. So if you had some raw almond butter or raw cashew butter in a glass jar, that would be awesome. Also, glass for ghee. Plus glass is more eco-friendly anyway, so win! Trader Joe's I love you so. More than you will ever know!
google avatar

LD K.

Yelp
This is the WORST Trader Joe's I've ever been to. Incredibly rude and negligent customer service. The employees literally pay NO ATTENTION to any customers shopping. Twice in the course of 10 minutes today, 2 employees rammed their carts into me while I was shopping. They pay no respect or care to the people shopping around them. They will no wait for you or walk around you. I tried to talk to one of the managers about it, and he made excuses for it and didn't seem to care. DON'T SHOP HERE unless you want to get rammed by a cart!
google avatar

Quinn N.

Yelp
I have some certain items TJ's carries that I don't want to buy anywhere else: 19 cents bananas, cut kale in a bag, zillion kinds of snacks, french brioche, panettone, unsweetened coconut flakes, blueberries goat cheese, frozen tiramisu, flowers of all kinds, etc. Also, it's worth noting that other items are very well displayed, such as the vegies section, the snacks section, and the cheese section - I can just buy a new item and keep exploring every week.
google avatar

Jaclyn W.

Yelp
I've never felt more loyal to a grocery store in my life. Even with the long pain in the butt lines and worse - no samples atmosphere it is now - TJs somehow has found a way to keep being that ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Staff is always helpful and full of information. They ACTUALLY ask how you are, what you are making for dinner, how is your day going? I love the bouquets, the little plants/herbs, the fresh bread, and the many many many Kosher labeled items I can buy here just a mile away. Not to mention the great produce. Buy the house brand to save the most $$$ Not sure what us Jews here would do without you.

Yelp
I came to this location for the first time on the 4th of july. I live in utah county & the orem location has basically been my second home since it opened a year ago. this location is located just before downtown SLC- right by smiths's, whole foods, kung fu tea, etc. the parking lot was pretty tiny & hard to back in & out of, plus no one was looking when they were backing out so that made it even worse. this is the first trader joe's in the state (we still only have 3) & I wanna says it's been here since 2012? it's set up a lot worse than the orem location & i feel like it's smaller too. the staff in orem is also PHENOMENAL, not exaggerating in the slightest. the staff here was kinda stand offish & not very friendly, I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt & say it might've been an off day. it was literally a holiday around 4:00 pm & they were closing at 5:00 pm- & it was still crowded af. maybe that's why? not sure, i will have to see the next time i go. not sure when that will be, the only reason we came here is because we were dog sitting for my sister in law who lives up here. besides the layout & staff, everything else was up to par. still a TJ's so all the amazing products are still there!

Yelp
After hearing rave reviews of this grocery store for years from my California friends, I'm happy to add my stamp of approval. I'm a little jealous that my son lives right by the store, but it does a mother's heart good to know he has an affordable option for such healthy foods. After shopping at other health food markets, the prices really amazed me. Many items are warehouse bargains without the jumbo portions. We continue to be impressed by each new food we try. Some favorites: * Tamales--refrigerated and frozen * Spinach & Kale Balls--frozen * Curry Simmer Sauce--various types in jars * Pita Chips * Mediterranean Hummus * Organic Chicken Broth * Saucy Scallops with Mushrooms--frozen * French Fried Onions * Coconut Cranberry Granola Nothing we've bought has disappointed, and Mr H. jokes about just moving into the store! Mom loves the economically-priced cut flowers, and the produce and frozen veggies are staples in my house. A note about Christmas items (Candy Cane Joe-Joe's, Mini Chocolate Star Cookies, Mini Gingerbread Men, to name a few)--they will sell out, so stock up as soon as they become available to avoid disappointment. I'll forever remember the poor employee that was being yelled at by a customer who was angry that she missed out.

Yelp
Thank. The. Lord. Seriously, I am so happy that there's a Trader Joe's in Salt Lake City, and apparently it's new! Being away from home, and somewhere for a whole week, I am happy that there is some normalcy by getting my somewhat usual diet. I love that I can buy a bunch of things for a great price while still trying to stick to my normal eating habits. This Trader Joe's is setup a little differently than the ones I'm used to in CA, and they also have more ... ready food, such as salads, burritos, etc. that you can just go heat up once you have purchased it. They also have ALMOND BUTTER! This is a hot commodity back in CA because none of the Trader Joe's in my area carries Almond Butter anymore. So happy! And the prices are the same! Which I am guessing ... may not be a plus in SLC ... On a side note, I completely agree with Nate S. about the children's shopping carts. This morning I witnessed a child bashing his cart into the produce section, over and over again despite his mother constantly telling him to stop. Yikes.

Yelp
This is by far, the MOST crowded/busiest/action packed thriller of the winter! Now, I've been to my fair share of Trader Joe's around the sun shine showered state of California, and none have been at this volume. FIrst, the parking. Think of an Asian supermarket plaza (never been to one? Imagine a row of 10 parking spots for 10 cars. Now pack 20 cars into those 10 spaces. Tada! That's the speed, size, and shenanigans of this plaza). Imagine if you will, a store (Babies R Us?) packed with infants, toddlers, and 1-5 year olds running around the store screaming/crying/whining/flailing/trailing their mothers - and no control over them. Like, literally, no control. About as much control as Bill Cosby has over the number of women coming out to the public about what he did back in the day. That was pretty much my first experience here at T.J.'s in Salt Lake CIty (henceforth dubbed SLC). A Harry Potter day at the zoo post-snake escape but multiplied by 30 (which equals 30), and in place of snakes - are babies. Product wise, I found plenty of my Cali favorites (and at fair prices), so I stocked up easily. This location in particular had plenty of SLC favorites - logs of wood, tiny saplings/trees grown in the local area, a bag of cinnamon smelling pine cones, etc. Hmm, what else.. yeah, it's the only T.J.'s (for now) in the area, so I'm sure I'll have to check in again! @_@

Yelp
Nothing bad to say about this location, they are always working hard and helpful. I'm happy to see the company as a whole is lessening their plastic usage as we bought some cherry tomatoes in a box instead of a plastic clamshell. Way to go!!!

Yelp
The store is amazing, the staff is amazing, and the prices are amazing. The shoppers can be a bit crazy, but I wouldn't rank the store any less because of it. The products are always well stocked and being stocked. I wish the store was a little bit bigger, but it is still fabulous. The food always tastes fresh and delicious. They have a massive selection of organic and gluten free foods, along with vegan options. I love this store!
