Trader Joe's

Very chill Trader Joe's store where the employees are very helpful with what you need. Easy to get to. Park in the parking structure, bring your parking slip and have it validated at the register after check out. A lot of fresh selection; fresh meats, fruits and even sushi packed ready to eat! Very close to the university for quick groceries.

Staff is great and this place is nice. But I bought their bok choy and the package says washed and ready to use. And guess what I find inside it - a walking insect. A while back I bought the vegetarian burger from the frozen section and there was a piece of stapler inside it - i almost came close to swallowing it. Usually on their products there is no way to contact the seller or any sort of contact. I guess the old adage remains true - you get what you pay for.

I frequently shop this location as I have been a resident of the area for 20+ years so this is my local store but no longer will it be. I will make the commute to Grossmont area. I am extremely disappointed by the allowance of dogs that aren’t service animals inside the store. While I understand that some people love their pets, having them roaming freely among food and groceries is unsanitary and distracting. I encountered several dogs, some barking and jumping, which made it difficult to shop comfortably. Dog strollers? Really? Purse pooches? The lack of control and cleanliness was off-putting, and I left feeling uneasy about the environment. What’s next? Ponies? I believe grocery stores should prioritize a clean and safe shopping experience for all customers. I won’t be returning until this policy changes.

The lines here can get a tad lengthy, but that's inevitable during the rush, as all the registers in this location are open with employees providing expedient and very polite service. I do not know what the policy is for alcohol sales, and it's possible that all customers get carded regardless of appearance. Either way, I thought I was getting kinda old I am only 31, yet compared to my peers, it seems pretty obvious, at this point, that im not 18-20 years of age. I had a professor who was likely a year younger than I am, and I guess am unable to be a sperm donor according to one sign on campus, so when I was asked for identification, I attempted to take it in stride and as a compliment. Lying, I pretended I had simply forgotten it (when in reality, it may need a replacement, and truth be told, the DMV really isn't bad at all anymore; plus, I believe I need an updated and better photograph, so getting hired/ on-boarded can be a little less... embarrassing). Ultimately, although slightly disappointed, I wasn't too upset about my cheap vodka having to be relinquished due to my lack of appropriate identification, and I do wish more produce could be made available (granted, it is winter); plus, the farmers might be local sources. There's always farmer's markets, too.

Great store, multi level parking near by, not directly connected to the store you have to park walk out to the street lever store entrance. Validation available.

Friendly staff, well organized and great selection. Parking is a bit of a pain (either street parking or in the parking garage next door) but they validate your ticket for you.

Always an excellent experience at the SDSU TJ’s. Staff is always super friendly and there’s free parking validation for the garage next door, just make sure to bring your ticket w/ you. Always super lively inside and the lines move quickly.

I was helped today at the College Ave Trader Joe’s (store# 0224) by a sweet soul, Andrea M, to my delight. She took such amazing care of me, was kind, understanding, and extremely professional. She knows how to handle tricky situations while making the customer feel welcome and appreciated. For this reason, Andrea is one in a million. I hope her manager appreciates her, because if I were hiring right now I’d hire her immediately!!! 👀
