After leaving the Marriott Marquis, I was surprised to see a Trader Joe's across the street at the Old Navy site. Well, there was no way I could be at the Ferry Terminal at 4:30 PM to board the ferry at the same time I was at Trader Joe's. The next ferry leaving the dock is scheduled to depart at 5:20 PM. Okay, I have some time on hand to browse and purchase a few items before taking that walk on Market Street to the ferry terminal.
I found out from one of the employees (greeter at the front entrance) that this business has been opened since February 2017. I love Trader Joe's and what it has to offer to its customers. I have been to the ones in Alameda, Oakland (Lakeshore area) and Emeryville, but this one in the City takes the cake and is by far the best I have seen. It is very spacious and well lit. The aisles are not as narrow as other Trader Joe's.
The produce section has an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, assorted prepared salads, plastic containers of cut up fruit (pineapple, apples, melons, mango chunks, etc.), berries, salad greens. Other food items include meats, poultry, seafood, cheeses, artisan breads, baked goods, cereals, snacks, beverages, frozen foods; paper products, cleaning supply, personal health products.
I did a second check-in earlier to browse thoroughly. I had more time on hand to shop without rushing around. The check out line is long. However, the line does move quickly, as there are at least 10 to 12 cashiers serving the customers.
Even though this is not the closest Trader Joe's to my home, there will be more visits to this part of Market Street for shopping, dining and pounding the pavement. Public transportation is so convenient (BART, AC Transit to the terminal for a Muni bus, Ferry Terminal and a hop on the F trolley, Muni buses #5, #6, #21) to this destination.
