Seattle Chef Greg Atkinson Has Retired After Closing His Restaurant | Eater Seattle

"The popular grocery chain is reportedly considering a Northgate location in the long-closed Bed Bath & Beyond space; the company did not confirm the plans, but has filed a pre-application for the space. The chain operates several stores in the Seattle area, and its most recent opening in Greenwood still drew a massive line earlier this year, per reporting." - Harry Cheadle

There really is something magical about a new TJ's. Big aisles, plenty of parking, and an entrance/exit directly into the parking garage. Stocked with the usual array of products at great prices, this TJ's is a welcome addition to the Greenwood neighborhood. PS If you found this review helpful, please "heart" it. Thank you!

Best Trader Joe's ever! It's roomy, with wide isles, upright freezers, well staffed. Lots of parking. It's also right by the bus stop. I've never even had to wait in line whenever I've been there.

So beautiful and spacious in here. The wide aisles are great. Lots of parking both outdoor and indoor. I’m impressed they have goat milk, goat yogurt, and goat kefir here all for a reasonable price!

Trader Joe’s never disappoints! They consistently have great products at reasonable prices, and I really appreciate their wide selection of dairy-free and vegan options. It’s easy to find creative, tasty choices for any diet, and the quality is always reliable. Shopping here is always a win.

I had an unpleasant shopping experience here. The item “Ring Danish” (as written on the receipt) was charged twice, even though it wasn’t in my cart at all. I was overcharged by about $10. Fortunately, I kept my receipt and checked it at home. I don’t believe this was just a simple mistake. It’s disappointing that there are no cameras in the store because I wanted to prove that I was telling the truth. On the positive side, the store manager and the staff who processed the refund were polite and understanding. Still, it’s confusing how a large bakery item that wasn’t in my cart could be scanned twice and added to my total.

Been waiting for this store to open for more than a year! Feels like a dream come true to be in walking distance to a TJ. The incredible vibes on opening day say it all. TJ is a business that brings the community together. The line to enter the store circled the building and when the ribbon was cut, cheers could be heard for blocks!

I’m extremely disappointed with this location. My cashier threw all of my fragile things (including eggs and chips) in the bottom of my bag and crushed them by putting my heavy cans on top. I expect better from Trader Joe’s please train your cashiers to do their job better.

This is a fabulous new Trader Joe’s in Seattle! Easy parking, very large aisles, well-stocked, no wait for checkout, and friendly staff. I usually go to the Roosevelt/U District location which can be very challenging to park, really packed inside and out of stock on key items.

Yelp
One of the newest locations, this TJ's is as modern as you can have a TJ's... which is the use of still sized freezers. Other than that, expect all the same goodness that you would get from the gold standard of goodness. Let's talk about the freezers, they are full height, which means things can be a bit high for those of the shorter disposition, but the friendly staff there can help. Also, parking. Most TJs have a parking lot that is embarrassing, in terms of size, shape, or navigation. This one is one of the better ones, if you know the following: 1. There is parking inside the building, if it's raining. 2. The parking monitors are precise, so parking your car in the lines, don't park and walk off, and don't park for more than 75 minutes. They will TICKET you and that's not fun... but honestly, simple. 3. Street parking is not ideal, but it's on the metro bus line, so that's great. So it goes without saying, I love this store, because it's 5 minutes away, also, I HATE this store, because it's now only 5 minutes away, so there goes my income.

Yelp
There's now 23 Trader Joe's in WA State, with 6 in Seattle. The newest one opened in Greenwood on 4/11/25 at the former Safeway. Another grocery choice in North Seattle, but at street level at a condo residential site. I waited for the grand opening hype to taper off and stopped by Sunday midday (4/27/25). Nice layout and easier viewing, especially for dedicated peripheral areas and especially the frozen food section. Good prices on some items. Friendly checkout staff. Well stocked shelves and display areas. 4.5 stars rounded to 5. Nice to checkout, but I'll stick to the Shoreline location with the bigger shared parking lot. Just an aside, curious why there is not a Trader Joe's location in South Seattle.

Yelp
Ohhh, the anticipation. We have waited ten years for this in the Greenwood neighborhood, and eagerly awaited news of its opening for the past year or so with the rumors gaining momentum. Today is the day: grand opening! The space is clean, organized (as any TJs), bright and full of all the things you know and love. Staff members are friendly, exuberant, and as excited to be there as the customers. We love the new, expansive space! Hooray!

Yelp
I'm so glad Trader Joe's took over the old Safeway in Greenwood! I love how spacious this Trader Joe's is, and that they have their frozen items in freezer cases with doors. I find it a lot easier to see what's in stock as oppose to bending over to see what's in the open freezers like the other TJs in the area. The staff here are friendly and easy to spot around the store. There's also plenty of parking and the bus stop for the 61 is right outside the store. 10/10 will be coming back regularly!

Yelp
I visited Trader Joe in Greenwood Neighbourhood in Seattle today. I'm dedicated Trader Joe shopper in different parts of Seattle. This particular experience was the first one for me. Rude cashier and the manager, who was called in to add even more to the unprofessional behavior. Will avoid Greenwood TJ at all costs.

Yelp
Brand spanking new. Well staffed other by attentive crew who want to help you find things. All the usual great options -- just at ridiculous prices that are actually affordable. Groceries that are affordable. What a concept. Selection is fantastic. The frozen Indian food selection takes up two cooler shelves. The variety of pizza and different types of cookies that can't be found anywhere else... The cereal shelf. The children prepared food probably my favorite section with hummus and ready to eat fresh foods are amazing. And don't get me started on the wine. Really appreciate the wide selection of organic produce. Super clean store with all the windows clear.

Yelp
Love this new TJ location. There is a street level parking lot as well as garage parking. They have all of the TJ items everyone loves. The store is roomy with spacious aisles due to the upright freezer section which is different for TJ's and appreciated by many. Everything was nice and neat and in its place, and our cashier was the trademark friendly kind of guy. If the store can stay this way and stay stocked, it's probably THE favorite location.

Yelp
Love this Trader Joe's in this neighborhood. That area has been somewhat dead other than Flintcreek & a few breweries on sunny days. I went there on Sunday ( Friday was opening day) and didn't plan on getting the tote. There was this bright & smiling associate standing in front of the bag section( maybe protecting all those bags from people who are mass purchasing and reselling). they asked the color and I got 2 lol. overall very pleasant shopping experience . This location is pristine and parking seemed easy.

Yelp
Is there a business as deservedly loved as Trader Joe's? Delicious food that's reasonably affordable w/ a staff that's helpful and kind. I'm immunocompromised--so I have to mask--and, also, I walk w/ a walker. Two different employees at the nearby Fred Meyer have made absurdly ableist remarks to me. Each was subsequently disciplined, but you know what? Like everyone, disabled persons should be able to grocery shop w/out harassment. So, now I ONLY shop at Trader Joe's and the difference between TJ's and FM is day and night. At TJ's, the employees actually lift my basket onto the checkout stand and they're just really friendly. As noted, the food is fantastic and it's just a good vibe. SO glad TJ's is in the neighborhood.
