"Opened quietly in early December, with a grand opening set for December 14, featuring coffee and pizza. It's an offshoot of the downtown coffee shop and lounge by the same name, although the pizza focus is unique to the new location. Fans of the original spot rave about the over-the-top croissants, which come in a rotating array of flavors like birthday cake, cookies and cream, and fruity pebbles; cocktails like a chartreuse-infused hot chocolate are also popular." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Had a wonderful Valentine's dinner here! The atmosphere is amazing, blending a pizza bar and coffee shop. By day, it's a cozy spot for coffee and breakfast with specialty donuts, and by night, it transforms into a vibey restaurant. We tried the Thanksgiving spring rolls, blackened chicken caesar salad, and the cherry pepper and ricotta pizza. The Thanksgiving spring rolls are a must-try! They taste like Thanksgiving leftovers wrapped in a spring roll—so delicious. The salad was tasty, though the chicken had a bit of a spicy kick, so it might be a bit much for some. The pizza, while good, wasn’t our favorite—it’s a white cheese sauce pizza, but it could have used more flavor. It mainly tasted like a ton of cheese and sweet peppers. Overall, the service was excellent, and we had a great time! Highly recommend.

Edited review after second visit: upping to five stars. We had an awesome dinner and Rosalia was a really nice server. We got the poke nachos, blackened chicken Caesar salad, and the crispy fried chicken sandwich. All was super tasty. Original review: For now four stars, more like 4.5, since I went only for coffee and mini donuts. I’m going to edit my review when I eat here because the restaurant looks very nice too. Iced latte was strong and yummy and the mini donuts were fun to try! Other baked goods and sandwiches looked awesome as did the interior decor. Excited to find this place close to home while I was getting my hair cut next door. Back for dinner soon!

After visiting Winter Fest, we finally checked out this spot for dinner! My husband and I are big fans of their downtown location, so we were excited to try the Charlestown one. The cozy atmosphere and the stunning copper pizza oven in the open kitchen immediately set the stage for a great meal. I had the apple butter, pear, and prosciutto pizza, while my husband tried the bacon and honeynut squash -- both were unbelievable and made for the best leftovers the next day! The restaurant had a wonderful mix of date nights, families, and even a corporate party, which really shows how versatile this place is! Absolutely worth a visit!

Google
Disappointing Experience at Tradesman!!! I visited Tradesman in Charlestown hoping for a good meal but was left thoroughly disappointed. My burger, as seen in the picture, took over an hour to arrive. To make matters worse, our server had the audacity to sarcastically justify the delay by saying, "There are just two people in the kitchen." What made this even more frustrating was seeing other diners who came in long after us getting their meals well before we did. This is unacceptable, and it felt as though the restaurant didn’t value our time. The food itself was average at best and definitely not worth the wait. Tradesman might have a good ambiance, but that doesn’t make up for the poor service and lack of organization. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Super cool place with a HUGELY spacious, endearingly quirky interior. Stopped by for a drink after work, one of the most well presented, yummy espresso martinis I’ve had in a while. Can’t wait to come back for the famed pizza and some more treats from their cafe :)

Came here to grab some food while working remotely and had a decent experience. The space is split between the cafe section and the sit-down service section, which wasn't immediately obvious to us. We approached the counter asking if we could order pizza and was directed to one of the employees in the restaurant section who seated us at the bar, which had outlets for our laptops. We ended up getting the Fish & Chips and a chicken sandwich to split. The texture of the fish wasn't the best - I thought it was too soft and not crispy enough. The fries were pretty good though. I ordered an iced chai after we ate, but it must've gotten lost along the way because the same waitress came back to check in on us and I had to remind her that I had ordered a drink. She was pretty apologetic about it, and the chai tasted good. Overall, I would only come back if I'm in the area for the drinks but not for food.

Google
I am thrilled that I was able to find this restaurant because I enjoyed it so much! We started with the poke nachos to share - everyone loved them! I got the wild mushroom pizza, and I added prosciutto. We finished with 6 donuts to share, and they were fun!! The service was incredible, our server knew exactly what we should order! Their outdoor area is perfect!! I will definitely be returning!!

The overnight oats with Greek yogurt was satisfying and delicious. It was also $10.40 something! I expected $5-$7 for oats and Greek yogurt but that was way more expensive than planned. It was tasty, but I would not pay that price again (got salmon sushi from Whole Foods today for less). Apparently they make fresh mini donuts on weekends so that’s fun. Service was quick and kind. Not a lot of parking but it is accessible and there is a handicapped spot or two right out front.

Yelp
First time being at the Tradesman! We were exploring the area and ended up at Urban wild for some bowling then Lucky Tiger their newest restaurant. Afterwards we stopped by for a couple martinis to close our evening right before they closed! I must say I didn't expect them to accommodate us being as it was really rainy, cold and they were basically closed already. A big shoutout to Ned for accommodating us! He's an absolute GEM! The owners of these establishments sure does have a keen sense of decor. Everything is set up with purpose, you can tell it was hand selected and curated. I hope this location blows up and does well in the area, so much space and room to accommodate parties and events as well as a great chill place to be for a drink or grab a slice. Can't say enough great things but go check it out! The lady loved her expresso martini! Perfectly balanced!

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
We came here after going bowling at Urban Wild and grabbing some dinner at Lucky Tiger. Just came here for a drink before ending the night and all ordered an espresso martini! The espresso martini here was much better than the other two spots on the street! I knew once I saw the foam that it was gonna be something good! They have these really cute mini donuts here that I will for sure be coming back for since we didn't get to try this night. Highly recommend coming here for some drinks though, beautiful bar. Parking: nice big parking garage located nearby... free parking.

Yelp
Food: Breakfast sandwiches were super delicious, especially the chive biscuit! The portion size is also good too. Everything tasted super fresh! The home fries were also some of the best I've ever had! Service: The waitress was friendly, attentive, patient. Our food came out pretty fast. Ambiance: Beautiful modern store with lots of natural lighting in a fun area. Would recommend this place for brunch for sure!

Yelp
What a gem in the Charlestown area! This place is known for its pizza. It was very easy to make reservations and I highly recommend them because they can get very busy! We got a couple starters, focaccia and cauliflower. Both were incredible! The freshly baked focaccia came with baked garlic. The cauliflower was well seasoned and packed with flavour. For my main I got the Brie and apple pizza, it was perfectly baked. My friend got a taco salad. They were very accommodating with our dietary restrictions and offered substitutions for free. Their menu does not have many vegetarian options, but they were able to make some adjustments for my friend. Will be back for the apps!

Yelp
First time here - just looking for a quick bite. The staff at the coffee shop (Paloma) and the hostess today (didn't get her name) were so accommodating! And the coffee is the best Ive had in years! (With coffee art too!). I ordered huevos rancheros - very sophisticated taste and also elegantly served. Hope to go back if Im ever in Charlestown.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service in Charlestown! Enjoyed coming here with a friend, having some delicious cocktails and food, and catching up at one of the high top tables. The restaurant is pretty spacious with lots of seating available. It also has a cafe when you walk in. The blood orange mule was delicious. We loved our pesto pizza and fish tacos as well! Would absolutely come back.

Colleen E.

Yelp
This is a really fantastic spot as it's both a coffee shop and sit down restaurant. The service is always friendly and quick. If you want to come for a sit down meal, a reservation is a must. The holidays is a lovely time to visit as it's beautifully decorated this time of the year. The picture I included is their fall sangria which is quite literally the best sangria I've ever had.

Frank V.

Yelp
The staff were super friendly, and I really enjoyed chatting with them. Cozy vibe, amazing food, and I'll definitely be back!

Kia L.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner with colleagues after a conference. The space is beautiful and classy for a coffee shop and pizza joint! We had an array of pasta, flatbread and salad. Everything tasted delicious and comforting! I also have a glass of thief rose which was light and fruity and a glass of Pinot noir. I would visit again while in town.

Yelp
Absolute best experience with my girl friends this evening 12/17/2024. The manager Mr. Rafael Pietro was absolutely amazing! We sat at the bar and he was so attentive! He made a great recommendation of the pepperoni pizza which we ordered and it was a tie in my opinion with Regina's. I highly recommend going to Tradesman, lovely people and delicious food! Thank you again Rafael! Ashley Desmond

Yelp
This was my second time eating brunch at the Tradesman. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros (no chorizo), 6 Mini Donuts, and an Iced Vanilla Latte (w/ oat milk) both times. My first experience was phenomenal, food & service wise. Second time not so much. The food was cold when it arrived and my latte didn't come sweetened with the Madagascar Vanilla syrup like I had originally ordered. It took our waitress a while to fix this and she totally forgot to get my friend the hot sauce she asked for. Docked two stars for the inconsistency in service (especially because we had the same waitress both times).

Lauren R.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Tradesman! The popcorn chicken was delicious, and we loved the sausage and cherry pepper pizza. Service was quick and we loved the vibe of the place.

Yelp
Great place that's very large that's part restaurant part bakery part coffee shop. Staff is nice, food tasted great, and it came out in a timely manner.

Alisa G.

Yelp
Came here for brunch one Sunday with a friend, and was very impressed with the cute, hip atmosphere, the unsuspecting location, and the food! My friend mentioned that there's a location in Boston but we just so happened to go to this Charlestown location instead. Let me just say, this was way easier to get around and to park especially! There's a parking garage around the corner to the restaurant that has free parking for the first 3 hours. SO convenient. When you walk in, the first half of the place is like a quick, casual cafe where you can grab and go. Then the rest of the inside is an actual restaurant. The vibe is very trendy and hip~ I loved the decor and atmosphere. We made reservations so we didn't wait at all. Service was good~ nothing to rave about. Food was pretty good as well. I had the breakfast sandwich, and the biscuit bread was absolutely delicious. This is what really made it stand out more for me. Otherwise, it would've just been a basic, plain breakfast sandwich. My friend had the avocado toast. She really liked it and said that it was better than most average avocado toasts she's had. She liked the seasoning they used and said there was also a little kick to it. Finally, we also shared the small basket of mini donuts. These were just ok, as to be expected for me, but they're just so darn cute! Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would probably come back for brunch again. Love the location and convenient parking!

Alanna R.

Yelp
so good it is not even funny. the spinach tomato eggs Benedict, french toast, and vanilla latte were so good. i'm from out of state and Ill be thinking about this food forever. decor is very on theme from the wallpaper to the light fixt and there's a parking garage which is very convenient. service was great as well!

Julianna V.

Yelp
Everything was 5 stars here. The food was excellent and they nicely accommodated for dietary needs. The manager, Rafael, was on top of everything and provided great support. Our waitress, Bianca, was so friendly! We look forward to going again very soon. I 100% recommend the Tradesman. We got the herbed mushroom pizza and blackened cod tacos.

Ed M.

Yelp
We had dinner on Friday night at Tradesman. We have driven by this restaurant many times wondering what was inside and how the food was. We were lucky enough to stop and check in out! Parking was awesome...right out front! Upon entry, the first thing that we noticed is how big it is and we noticed a fun vibe...kinda chic. It has great lighting and plenty of seats. The bar is huge, too. It is very well lit and tastefully decorated. There is a coffee shop and donut area but it was closed when we arrived at 7pm. My wife had shrimp tacos and I ordered cheese pizza. The food came in a reasonable time and it was delicious. My wife was happy with the shrimp tacos and she thought they were big for the price! The pizza was tasty and perfect size for one. The taste a bit different but not in a negative way. It was just different. I enjoyed my pizza with a cold Coke and my wife ordered a Sam Adams Summer. Service was A+ from the time we arrived and were seated until the time we left, the staff was fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised when we were about to pay the bill when the waitress brought us a small piece of delicious cheese cake (see pic). It was a perfect ending to a great evening! We will definitely be back.....again, a very nice surprise and place we will revisit!

Yelp
Best eggs Benedict I've had in Boston. Great vibe and service. This is our new brunch go to place. It has all of the traditional brunch items, enhanced by their awesome bakery, along with pizza, and mini donuts. Can I just move in?

Bisma A.

Yelp
I've come to Tradesman a lot of times for coffee and after work food/drinks, and I finally tried their breakfast! The mini donut basket is a great deal if you want something sweet. We tried the huevos rancheros and steak quesadilla and both were pretty good. I always love coming here because of the unique decor and setup. Service can be a bit slow at times but everyone is friendly and it is overall a great place for breakfast.

Katie E.

Yelp
Came back to try the brunch last weekend and hate to say I had to come back to my review to knock it down a star. The food here is pretty good and probably worth the 4 stars I originally gave this place, however the service is SO slow it just can't stand up to other 4 or 5 star spots in the area. The first time I came here there was a private party dominating the space, but this time it was 1pm on a Saturday and there were a number of empty tables so I can't let them get away with the same excuse. We had just one round of drinks and entrees, no appetizers, desserts or anything like that, and it took over two hours from when we sat down to when we finally got our check. The food was really tasty, the breakfast sandwich, pancakes and avocado toast were probably the winners at our table. The espresso martinis were spot on, but two people got the Bloody Mary and said they wouldn't order them again. They had a ton of capers and other toppings mixed in that kept getting stuck in the straw and took space away for the actual drink/alcohol. Despite the yummy meal, the whole time everyone just kept saying "thank god we're not in a hurry". We had to check in on the status of our drinks a few times before getting them all and had to flag the waiter down multiple times to order our entrees. This place has sooo much potential, but they need to increase their staffing and boost their efficiency all around. I'll come back again in a month or so and hope I can change my opinion again!

Kait M.

Yelp
This place has incredible food and drinks! We come here often and everything is a 10/10. The bartenders are some of the nicest around. Highly recommend the cheeseburger pizza.

Woo K.

Yelp
Have you had tradesmen coffee? Do you like pizza? Then your gonna like it here. Came in for brunch, ordered a coffee, pizza. What a win. The food was great. The ambiance was nice. The staff were awesome. The drinks were amazing. Makes me want to come back and keep trying other things on the menu.

Taylor L.

Yelp
Tradesman is the best dining experience in Charlestown. Excellent food and exceptional atmosphere. Whether you're a regular or a newcomer, the staff greet you with warm smiles and unmatched hospitality. The waitstaff is attentive, quick, and ready to handle any situation. I go to Tradesman with my 2 year old nephew often, and the staff are always so wonderful with him, ready with coloring books and extra snacks to keep him occupied. Tradesman shines with their bartenders though. Barbara, Tony, and Jacob offer a 10 star experience every time. Jacob is always eager to try his hand at new cocktails. Tony is quick with a great whiskey or scotch recommendation. Barbara will make you feel at home as soon as you sit down. They are the gems of Tradesman

Tiffani J.

Yelp
This is a cute coffee spot but "spot" does not do this restaurant any justice. I came looking for a new cafe, but it exceeded my expectations. I ordered a strawberry scone (which has coconuts which I didn't know at the time of ordering) and a white chocolate latte. I had a problem with my order and they fixed it right away with a smile. I later ended up getting a chocolate chip cookie. It was cake-ier than I prefer but that's a personal preference for a thinner cookie. The music selection in the background was more upbeat than a typical coffee shop. It was the right volume, tempo, etc. And...parking is free for the first 3 hours. Talk about a win!!

Kate C.

Yelp
Thai restaurant is in the newer Hood Park area. That means there is ample parking and the space is beautiful and big. They have a coffee/breakfast bar, as well as sit down tables. The servers were very nice at both the tables and the coffee bar. The food was pretty good - it's definitely cheaper than some of the other restaurants in Charlestown, which was nice.

Allie C.

Yelp
A hidden gem of Charlestown! Great for drinks, a date spot, bringing your dog or small group events. All of the appetizers are great. The cauliflower is spicy delicious. The nachos were crispy and flavorful. For entrees my favorite is the tuna poke bowl which is a generous portion and has a great spicy sesame dressing. The pizzas are all thin crust and come out fast. I wouldn't recommend the French dip sandwich. It was unfortunately soggy and lacked flavor. There are a ton of drinks that aren't on the menu that you can order such as margaritas. Espresso martinis are fab as well. Don't forget to order an assortment of mini donuts at the end! About the restaurant: Tradesman has a lot of charm and a great bar. It's a very rustic vibe. There is an outdoor patio that allows dogs which is hard to come by around Boston. Great parking down the street which is free for the first 3 hours. The garage also has EV charging.

Jasmine L.

Yelp
The waitstaff was amazing and very helpful, however, the food was awful. I went there with 5 of my coworkers for lunch and none of us could finish the food we ordered. The pasta was sour, the chicken sandwich was over seasoned and the pizza wasn't much better either. It looks like a great place to have drinks after work and the restaurant itself is nice, but I would skip the food altogether.

Austin J.

Yelp
We started with the sprouts and bread. The sprouts were very good but small portion. The bread for $12 was burnt focaccia with rock jard garlic. Epic fail. The chicken parm was tasty. The squash pizza was missing the goat cheese and squash blossoms but loaded with super hot peppers. Almost like the kitchen did this on purpose. They did replace it but it took forever for the new pizza to come out and everyone was done eating. Service was also slow. It's a nice space with nice vibe. I just don't get it how food can be sent back and no manager stops by.

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Great cafe for working with good coffee and snacks, and also a good restaurant for pizza and entrees. They have mini donuts for desert!

Garima G.

Yelp
- mushroom pizza with caramelized onions and truffle oil - added fried egg to this and it was really good Dough was thin and perfectly chewy -omelette with home fries and wheat toast - home fries were delish, I didn't like the toast that much maybe it was over fried in oil tbh. - mini donuts - these were so cute and delicious. I liked that they were not too sweet - cafe mocha was strong This is a new spot that just opened last week. The ambiance was amazing with both cafe and lounge vibes! Brunch flavors could be improved but overall a great addition to the neighborhood.

Dan W.

Yelp
first time in here and it was a friday night. i thought the place was pretty interesting. however there were a few issues - the chicken sandwich i got was nearly raw. the manager apologized and replaced it and seemed disappointed that it happened. the wait staff were swamped and therefore not attentive. drinks stayed empty for just too long. the coffee shop area was essentially a playground. 10-15 small children ran amok and were very disruptive. more of a parents thing but i wish the manager would've asked the parents to do something. finally, the food was just average. really need to have stellar food to justify the costs and they missed that mark, in my opinion. unfortunately i probably won't return.

Melissa K.

Yelp
I've been to tradesman in Charlestown a few times now so I feel like I can say it's hit or miss. Pros - huge space in an area where there aren't a lot of restaurants so it's often reasonably busy with no wait to be seated. A few of their dishes are amazing. The bang bang cauliflower app and pretzels are above average and their eggs Benedict is one of a kind. Bonus points for mini doughnuts. Cons - the service is pretty slow and the menu is pretty limited. The pizza makes up a big part of their menu but it's mediocre at best. Avoid the egg white frittata. It came out cold and there was nothing good about it.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Absolute 5 stars. Picked this place last minute and was absolutely not disappointed! Started with a pear martini which was sweet and not too strong! Also got the crispy cauliflower that had a bang bang sauce and was so good! For my entree I got the mushroom pizza which our server recommended to add prosciutto to which was incredible! Truly one of the best pizzas I've ever had. We also got the sausage and rigatoni dish which was good and flavorful and ended with the espresso martini that their menu said was the best in the city! (I agree). We also got the pumpkin espresso martini which was good but didn't taste too much like pumpkin. The service was great also, and the vibes of the restaurant were amazing! Great lighting and decor and music! Definitely would come back!!

Grant L.

Yelp
Charlestown is in for a real treat. Popped in for a Café Latté. The coffee was great warranting a second cup. A very pleasing aesthetic. Can't wait to come back and try their restaurant when it's open.

Joseph I.

Yelp
Very fun place! The food and service above all take the prize; but ambiance is nothing short of magical! Between the kinetic toys and the "donut slot machine" I'm not sure which is cooler. This is a place I can come to and feel comfortable and intrigued all at the same time while enjoying that delicious pizza and we'll thought appetizers. How can they get that pizza dough so crispy and chewy at the same time? At any rate, while this place will grow and probably go through some growing pains, I'd say they're off to a great start! Cheers to this new favorite of mine, Tradesman Coffee Shop and Pizza Bar!

Noel M.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped at the Charlestown location early this AM - Sunday 11/5 - for coffee and some pastries and we were 2 of about a dozen people who had come in one after the other. I am writing this because whoever the woman was who was working early Sunday was absolutely fantastic. She juggled making complicated coffee drinks and avocado toast and other special sandwiches so well and my coffee was delicious. Delicious!! She should get a raise. And the other woman in that separate little area for donuts was busily making the donuts. I love this space (we used to go to the one downtown).

Michelle B.

Yelp
RUN DON'T WALK - to this relatively new Charleston location. I work in the restaurant industry and rarely have time to enjoy a night out on the other side. But tonight we were at the right place at the right time passing by Tradesman when I felt a calling. Like other reviewers before me, I passed by this location a million times but never had the time until tonight. It was 8:45pm on a Thursday when we walked in and was instantly impressed by the open concept and high ceilings. It has a warm feeling with lots of TVs for sports but does not interfere with the well thought out decor and ambiance. There is a big pizza oven at the beginning of the large wrap around bar where we chose to sit on our own. It was chili out and the warmth of the pizza oven was cozy. We were immediately greeted by our server, Maria, who was exceptional in every way. It was late so we just had snacks and pizza but all was 5 star. And Just as we were finishing our meal, Maria brought us out the most delish slice of cheesecake- as a first time welcome...I cant say enough. TRADESMAN is not hidden...it's a gem.

Olivia S.

Yelp
My family and I love this restaurant! We recently went for a birthday dinner but have come a few times before. This is a great place to come for a special occasion! The service has always been wonderful and they really went above and beyond for the birthday. We have also really enjoyed all the food we have tried. Totally recommend!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Ambience is modern and beautiful, especially at Christmas time. Convenient parking in a garage just behind it, free up to 3 hours I believe. Food and drink was great. Will definitely be back!

Brendan S.

Yelp
Mediocre experience- somehow between the waiter and the kitchen our order got lost and they didn't realize it for almost an hour. The manager offered to order some guacamole to tide us over but when our entrees came out first he canceled the guacamole. To his credit he provided a bottle of wine on the house but at that point we had to leave already. Food was average at best

Tom H.

Yelp
Tradesman is in the fast growing Hood park area of Charlestown. Beautiful interior with nice details and extremely friendly staff. I come here for coffee on weekend mornings and for dinner at the bar quite frequently. Among the things that I've noticed is that the staff all seem to be good friends and laughing and joking with each other but not at the expense of being focused on providing excellent service to customers. The food is superb, the bar IS the longest in Charlestown so plenty of seats and the espresso martini might very well be the best in Boston. Oh, and if you need your bicycle fixed, Laundry's in right next door. The outside area is dog friendly. Great place for many reasons.

Greg H.

Yelp
I live down the road and am a regular here and I'm a fan. The food is good, the pizza is good and made fresh right in front of you. The pretzels, chicken, cauliflower are all very good, and it's a particularly good place to go for a weekend brunch. The mini donuts are good and such a cool idea. I do miss the pigs in a blanket, though. The house drinks are all very good and very consistent - best espresso martini I've had, and the pear martini is very good. I don't frequent the coffee shop side of it often so I can't comment on that. Service is very good, with a nice and personable staff. Not too much more to say about that. Cool decor. Good place to visit if you're in the area. Free 3 hour parking, too, for those who drive.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with plenty of seating. Got an iced vanilla latte and blueberry muffin. Will be back to claim a table and get some work done!

K W.

Yelp
Food was great and somehow the service was even better! Era was a star and provided endless laughs. A great atmosphere, staff and food.

Skyler L.

Yelp
New favorite brunch spot in Charlestown. The staff was very nice and super fast, constantly checked in on us. Food was cooked with love and expertise. The cocktails were amazing. Check this place out ASAP they are priming for nice things if they keep this focus.

Stephen A.

Yelp
Saw a review on Boston.com for the Hottest new restaurants in Boston, January 2022. It did not disappoint! Such a great scene. Loved the bar. Heck of a whiskey selection. Pizza is super good and all three appetizers we had rocked! (Bang bang cauliflower, fancy pigs in a blanket and nachos) Would highly suggest this place as a pre game dinner/drinks before going to Encore or Downtown. Free parking was such a huge plus!

Yelp
Great new place! We came here on a very cold day and the atmosphere was great, lots of fun, cozy ans warm! Food was amazing and bar service was really good too, fast and good quality! The bar tenders are very efficient and their drinks are excellent. Would definitely recommend stopping by to try this place!
