"Tradition, a cozy neighborhood restaurant and bar near Liberty Park, is maybe the best example of the weird remnants of Utah liquor laws. They have a bar tucked behind swinging saloon doors, where cocktail ingredients remain hidden from the eyes of all the curious and impressionable minors (who apparently have never seen gin before). Their dishes lean southern and layer in Utah cuisine with comfort classics, like fried green tomatoes, meatloaf, and a hot dish casserole called funeral potatoes. The bar churns out cocktails like the Fire & Ice, a fusion of gin, blackberry sage shrub, and spiced serrano honey, that’s great for when it’s so cold outside, your nose hairs start to freeze." - Jenny Willden

Incredible experience! The menu options are so unique and seem to have an Asian flair on traditional American dishes. Chicken and dumplings was a beautiful almost light curry soup with incredible dumplings. My wife’s eggplant tonkatsu had incredible flavor and being gluten free was the cherry on top! Chicken wing appetizers were great and the environment was amazing. This will be an anniversary tradition for our family and I can’t wait to show others! Location across from liberty park is amazing too.

We got the pigs in a blanket and they were amazing, the sauce was delicious as well. Also got the fried green tomatoes and they were delicious!! For our main course we got the shrimp and grits and then the seasonal hash and everything was seasoned well, had amazing flavor and was just so good! The coffee is even good here! You have to try it!

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. A friend and I came after work without a reservation and they kindly found us a seat. We came for the pie, but every dish we ordered impressed and the wait staff were friendly and warm. Favorite dishes include the funeral potatoes and fried green tomato sides - both excellent. The pie was dangerously good. This particular evening it was a chocolate pie, but not just a "chocolate pie", more like a slab of the inside of the best chocolate truffle you could imagine. This restaurant is on my very short list in Salt Lake City. I'll definitely be back!

I got fried green tomatoes and chicken Marsalis. The food was good and the service was great. I went here because as I was driving for UTA they showed me compassion and allowed me to use the restroom where others would not. I will be great full for the kindness the worker showed me. Thank you for everything and I enjoyed myself trying this restaurant.

We have been meaning to come here and finally got a chance with a friend visiting. We walked in with very casual attire from the park. My other half got the short rib and said it was one of the best servings of short rib he ever had. While I am not sure everyone felt the same, we really enjoyed our meal and drinks here and would definitely return for the short rib.

This was my first time dining at Tradition and it was a recommendation. I was pleased with the overall service actually! The atmosphere were just right with the outside temperatures for dining on the patio. The food was exquisite and I thoroughly enjoyed! I would definitely recommend to anyone seeking something unique.

This place is great. The food was awesome. Dined here on a Tuesday evening with my girlfriend. We ordered the fried chicken (server's recommendation) and the pork shank. The chicken was a large portion and the pork was a reasonable size. Both were delicious. The cheese grits served with the chicken and the relish that came on top of the pork were nice touches. Also ordered slices of the ginger-berry and peach pies. Perfect way to end a meal. Will definitely be back. For the people that left negative reviews: the chains down the street await your cheap tastes.

Tradition captures the top place in my Salt Lake restaurant rotation time and time again. Each time I walk through the door, I am greeted as family. The food is always spectacular and the cocktails are festive. The Brussels Sprouts have been my long time favorite, but were recently combined with the cauliflower. I must say, I am a fan of the combination!
