Well, tonight was one of those memories you will never forget. We had a party of six very close friends and family, who reserved a table on the patio for 5:30 PM. After we had placed our orders, we heard what sounded like an accelerating engine. When we looked around to see what it was, it was a septic tank truck, and it was literally pumping out the septic tank directly below us on the patio of the restaurant. If you've ever stood next to a septic tank being pumped out, then you know what it smells like. Our food arrived as the smell increased. It was a sh** show by definition. Would you want to put your dinner table in the middle of a dump? Might you expect in such a situation that a manager with some level of competence would offer to reseat you and apologize in the process? Not at Jack's restaurant!
We certainly understand that problems can arise. It was not the fault of our very nice waitress, nor the fault of the food servers doing their best. They were embarrassed. But the manager on duty was reprehensible, ignorant, and incompetent. When one of the ladies in our party tried to talk to him about the unbelievable experience, he blew her off and walked away. He said it was a "health hazard," and that's why they were pumping out the septic tank. It was a "health hazard," such that you should not seat people directly above a septic tank being pumped out. And you should demonstrate a much better attitude than this guy in the process.
I've traveled the world as a trial lawyer for four decades, and I've never experienced anything like this. It is one for the record books. Any competent manager worth his salt would take care of the customers and sincerely apologize rather than blow someone off and walk away. This guy has no idea. If he thinks Jack Nicklaus won't get a letter directly from me, he better think again because Jack, like me, values his reputation. And someone at that restaurant better wake up. Absolutely intolerable. As he ran away, he, of course, did not introduce himself nor give his name. But it was Saturday, February 8, 2025, so anyone from the company reading this review should be able to figure out who it was and should take the appropriate action. Because I'm just writing my first review. And I'm a pretty good writer and quite competent at communicating exactly what transpired as many times as it takes
Thanks for ruining what otherwise was a very special gathering.
