I like this place and visit all locations regularly- lately service has been a bit rough though normally the barista team is great. Not sure what may have happened… but overcharging is not right- my regular is $6.30 and I was uncharged to $9.40 and coffee quality/syrup had a super odd taste to it. To top it off the hot chocolate was cold ☹️ (we had it in-store) trail what’s going on..

Google
Studied here once and it was a good spot, parking is a little limited but drinks are good. I had a hot chai latte and matcha latte. Both good, I really liked the chai, it also had a cool butterfly cinnamon design. The matcha is solid for me, butterfly syrup helps too, not too sweet not too strong either.

Google
The coffee here is strong and bold—just the way I like it. The baristas are friendly and clearly know their craft. And the bagel with herbed cream cheese? Absolutely delicious. I could swim in that cream cheese—it’s that good!

I'm no longer going to Starbucks Trail coffee is my new coffee spot. I found it walking down town one day. The coffee actually wakes you up. We bought some to take home. The store manager was very proud about the place so that made it more home vibe.

The barista was very helpful when I asked for a recommendation. They took my drink to my table which was very nice of them. Delicious pumpkin scone and my London fog was great.

I loved this place back when it was called Jesus Mountain in the alley. I really love to see little companies like this really flourish into something amazing. Their coffee and service only gets better. I am so proud of what they have done and the culture they are bringing to downtown Stockton. I ordered an ice latte and it was perfect for some energy and on a hot day. It’s worth a stop if your passing through, need a study place, or if you just want to good coffee.

Dairishman152

Google
In-store ground coffee for purchase and use in the shop. Very quick service and broad selection for you. Plenty of seating and a nice relaxing environment. Espresso taste is nice with a touch of floral giving that exotic taste to it

Google
If you were to look up on Pinterest for comfy study cafes, just go down to Trail Coffee and get the example you're looking for! I originally was visiting spots all around Stockton to find the perfect study spot, and as soon as I walked through those doors, I knew the trail cafe was the SPOT. As soon as you walk through those doors, you are welcomed with such warmth, it's like they're wrapping a blanket around you. I would 100% recommend visiting Trail Coffee Roasters.

Yelp
It's so nice finding cool coffee shops in a downtown area. Although this area of Stockton is pretty empty, Trail Coffee will always have me make a trip to this area of the city. Love the vibe of the shop. Lots of wood elements and plants. Reminds me of my own house. My favorite aspect is that it is a Nicaraguan coffee shop. My husbands family is from Nicaragua so it's nice to have some of their culture around us. My only hope is that they incorporate more Hispanic flavors to their coffee. Whenever I come, I get their Iced Dalgona Coffee with whatever seasonal syrup they currently have. All of their syrups are house made and delicious. My son and I have coffee dates here once a month and I'll try to keep em up!

Yelp
A cute coffee shop in downtown! Beautiful indoors and has outside seating. Cons are the parking, but worth it! Baristas are friendly and helped me find the drink for me! I would definitely try this place out.

Yelp
Trail Coffee Roasters makes some solid coffees and this location is so cute and welcoming. I used to come more often when I lived in Stockton, but now I mostly only stop by to meet up with friends in the area. One downside is that this location is only open M-F, but I understand since downtown is less busy on the weekends. Inside it's very open with plenty of natural light and a variety of seating options. It's a great spot to get some work done, study, meet with friends or just chill out. On my last visit I ordered a large iced raspberry dalgona drink ($7) and it was delicious. We sat on the comfortable brown chairs and mugs available for sale too. There is street parking available as well as some paid parking lots nearby.

Yelp
Parking can be limited. Pay at the street meter. Outside patio seating available. Great coffee house ambience with big windows to see downtown Stockton.

Yelp
I like dirty chai tea lattes - and Trail's is probably my fav. It's a flavorful chai and not too sweet. Their breakfast bagel sandwich is SO good - egg, bacon, cream cheese on a bagel. But I'd def recommend getting their house made herb cream cheese on an everything bagel. It's spacious and a great space to study or work or have coffee dates. They also have some original tile from when it was a store in the early 1900s. So I LOVE that they kept some character but still made it modern. Street parking is available.

Yelp
Great selection of coffee beans, roasted on-site! Zach pulled a delicious espresso shot today. He has a great story and he knows espresso. Deep in the rabbit hole? Espresso-purist? Head down to Trail and talk to Zach.

Yelp
Great coffee and local roaster!! Drinks are good and we buy coffee beans to brew at home as well. They do close early so keep that in mind but also have a shop inside Lodi Cyclery in downtown near the theatre, that stays open til 6 on certain days.
google avatar

Taylor G.

Yelp
Cute cozy cafe vibes. Wooden chairs are a tad uncomfy though. I got a matcha latte with oat milk, sweetened with vanilla. Smooth, sweet, and warm. Would go again.

Yelp
Trail Coffee has a delish Chocolate Chip Cookie from the new baker (The Baker on Willow) to them. The CC reminds me of the ones Judy G. made. Delicious! Biggest difference is that the chocolate chips in this CC aren't the mini ones. For this CC lover... I like large pockets of chocolate, buttery flavors, and that brown sugar note. Mmm The service is always on point as well. Thank you for the quick chats and your great coffee!

Yelp
I've been here before when Trail first opened and after my most recent visit I'm happy to say that they've still kept the same style and feel as before. Local coffee roaster minimalist feel and excellent taste. This time I sampled their lemon ginger tea and was left wanting more! Soothing and aromatic any selection will surely leave you wanting more.

Yelp
I wish there was a heater for the winter tho, its too cold inside. You need to bundle up if you want to stay inside

Yelp
The cutest coffee shop with the best customer service !! The owner is extremely friendly and helpful ! Love their americano. When asked for footage of a crash they were more than happy to help us (unlike the salon next to us)

Yelp
I stopped by this place on my way to an appointment. I've never seen them before and I saw the sign. Is it great spot to bring laptop and work or just sit for a cup of coffee or tea and a bagel. I'm so glad that I stopped here. This is a great coffee shop and they roasting their own coffee. I ordered a caramel macchiato and a bagel with herb cream cheese. They make the cream cheese in-house also. The coffee was smooth and light with a hint of sweetness. It was great. The bill was soft and chewy and the cream cheese was so velvety, smooth and creamy. The staff was quick, polite, friendly. Calm and quiet ambience, great place to meet with a friend.

Scarlett B.

Yelp
Great coffee/food and friendly staff. I wish they were open weekends so I could go more often but I understand why they are not. Best coffee shop atmosphere in town.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and they haven't disappointed yet, from espresso to the syrups to the milk they dont let you down. All the baristas have been extremely nice and friendly but most importantly they're amazing at coffee! Try the espresso milkshake and thank me later

Yelp
Came across this place through Yelp and decided to check it out. I was welcomed by their golden doodle pup and already knew I loved this place. Ok first off, this dog was so welcoming. Came up, gave a quick sniff, and went back to bed. Like a "hello! Welcome to my store" type of feeling. Lol The barista helped me pick out my drink. They make their own syrups. I believe they have lavender (which I got) and another one. I ended up getting their lavender latte. It was good! Not too strong of a flavor but definitely could taste it. Definitely would go back and try more. Thanks trail coffee!!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Friendly staff/ owner, golden doodle roaming around to bring serotonin to your day, and aesthetic interior. Doesn't feel like downtown stockton upon entering. Baked goods are also homemade by the owner, which is very tasty. Keep it up guys!

Yelp
I've been here a couple times now and vibes are always perfect for studying or a quick coffee break! Baristas were very nice and quick to make recommendations; they are always very personable which is always nice. I ordered the caramel latte(hot) and a cinnamon roll on day 1 and then an iced matcha sweetened with butterfly pea syrup and a coffee cake on day 2. I usually like my coffee to be a little sweeter and he really nailed the drinks for me. The barista recommended using the butterfly pea syrup and that was absolutely delicious. It was very fragrant and different from a typical order. I wish the sweeteners were emphasized more on their menu because I would have never known it were even an option. Both days, the shop was quite empty and I do believe they deserve a packed store. It's aesthetic, clean, brightly lit, and there are plenty of outlets! I think this place would be extremely appealing if they targeted their marketing to college students and were open later!
google avatar

Kris G.

Yelp
This place has such a chill vibe. The owner is super cool and the coffee is always fresh and amazing. You also can't get a better shop dog. This little pup comes up and greets everyone, gets her pets and then goes back to her spot on the bean bag (see what I did there)
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance is on point and there was a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anybody nearby that wants good coffee.

Yelp
Love love love!!!!! As soon as you walk in, you feel home. The mood and vibe is welcoming and friendly. The coffee is another story! It's AMAZING!!!! EVERYTHING taste amazing, even the music is AMAZING!!! Please try!

Yelp
Today was our first visit to Trail Coffee and it won't be our last. Johnny was our barista and he helped me pick out a bag of beans that I'm excited to try. He's so knowledgeable about the coffee. He also spoke to my kids like they were humans and even rinsed out my kid's cup. This space is beautiful and the pastries (which my littles devoured) are all made in a cottage kitchen near by. We will definitely be back soon. My cold brew was

Yelp
Five stars! I should have updated this a while ago but kept forgetting. Love their coffees especially when they have the single origins brewing. All the ones I've tried I've enjoyed. If not you can't go wrong with their medium or dark blend. Grab one of their chocolate chip cookies to go with your coffee too or for a snack later. They're different from what I'm used to. Theirs have a crisp to the outside but soft and chewy inside with plenty of mini dark chocolate chips. If they added some chocolate chunks in there I'd probably end up buying way too many. All I'm saying is try their chocolate chip cookie! They recently added a breakfast sandwich which has egg, two sausage patties, and cheddar cheese. It's pretty good and I liked it better than the one I had at Poppy.

Julian F.

Yelp
The lady working wasn't too friendly. It felt unwelcoming, but the coffee was splendid. The environment of the coffee house was relaxing. The outside seating was superb especially for coffee enjoyers who smoke! :D -J+M

Yelp
Morning errand in downtown Stockton and needed a little fix me up and saw this spot and had to check it out. Got greeted by one of the staff. Helpful and friendly. Fresh brewed Nicaraguan coffee, the best! I love the vibe, the ambience and the friendly staff. Definitely will come back again.
google avatar

Paige S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and i have been using "switchback" beans from this company for about two years and instantly fell in love with it. It would always be sold out at the one store we found it at and later realized we could have it shipped to us! We buy about 6 bags a month on subscriptions (we have and share many cups of coffee with our friends and family everyday). They recently gave us a free bag of a new flavor "buckeye" which is a lighter blend and also wonderful flavor. I definitely recommend making trail coffee roasters your go to coffee bean distributors.
google avatar

Pam M.

Yelp
The coffee was great! The music was great and relaxing! There was plenty of places to sit! There is outside seating! It is nicely decorated to go with the theme "trail'. The baristas were nice and friendly! Ok... I never want to write anything negative but I was so bummed! The internet is not good! It keeps kicking you off! So if you are going to work on your computer... forget it! Just go for the coffee! The 2nd bummer is you have to pay to park... not sure why Stockton would do that when they are working towards bringing people downtown.

M A.

Yelp
The coffee here is a hit or miss for me. I've come and ordered their SF vanilla lattes and sometimes they're tasty and sometimes they aren't. Ambiance is great and service is friendly.

Yelp
Coffee houses has become a culture, a way of socializing. This corner coffee shop resides in Downtown Stockton, is airy with lots of natural sunlights, wood-bench seating and WiFi freely available. A dedicated outdoor seating is provided for those wanting to soak in the sun while sipping on their favorite fix. In a casual and quiet setting, you'll find fellow caffeine addicts immersing in work or studies. Menu is simple and emphasizes on hand crafted espresso drinks. The Vanilla Latte was decent with a subtle note of sourness while being smooth and creamy. Parking can be challenging during peak hours as it's located in a business district lined with mostly metered parkings. Trail Coffee Roasters is a great addition to the downtown food scene with friendly staffs and a hip vibe.

Yelp
I discovered Trail when they were tucked in the Alley and was formerly known as Jesus Mountain, like a hidden gem. They are now located on a beautiful corner lot that's not to be missed! This location has a lot of big windows with natural lighting. There's also a mix of different types of tables/seating depending on if you alone, in a duo/trio, or large group. Plus, they have a public parklet for those who want to sit and relax outside. I usually order a vanilla latte or cortado, and it came out perfect every time. I had their smoked salmon platter one time, and it was literally one of the most aesthetically pleasing AND delicious meal, too. Hint: if you want a special treat, try the Sidecar - a cortado served with a side of espresso and sparkling water for $5! I love that Trail roasts their own beans locally and Rain Forest Alliance Certified™. The atmosphere is bright, simple, and chic. They also have a little gift section with coffee mugs/glass cups, bagged coffee, and small home decor items. Even though Downtown Stockton is not ideal for most folks, this is a must for anyone who appreciates high quality coffee and a cool atmosphere to enjoy it in.

Yelp
I'm no local but I'm always on the look out for local shops wherever I trail and this is the spot for me when it comes to Stockton, Ca. I very much enjoyed my hot latte and the cozy vibe inside! Thank you trail, I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
5 stars for taste and quality of coffee but minus a star since hours posted on website vary. Showed up after seeing it was open but it was actually closed. I also called but no voicemail set up to let customers know it was closed for the day.

Chase E.

Yelp
Best coffee in town! Great customer service, and a good coffee shop to study, read, or work in!
google avatar

Dolly N.

Yelp
I decided to try this place for a chai latte in the past, and I have decided I will always come back for a good quality hot chai. She uses various amazing spices with the right amount. It's so much more of a real chai compared to Starbucks or Empresso. The owner has a sweet dog who is always very happy, friendly, and well-mannered. I just got jumped by her when I walked in today :) Little things like that make my day. The owner is very friendly and kind as well! If COVID wasn't around, this would be a great place to sit with friends or colleagues to chat, or even study! This place deserves more recognition than Starbucks. Very cozy and peaceful environment.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
I seen this coffee on the internet had to stop by and check it out. 4.5 . There wasn't much of a selection to choose from. The place is very sheen and welcoming. I had the chia tea iced. 2 stars it a waste of my money. There nothing to it, it taste like milk with cinnamon. I don't think I'd be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Does going here every Tuesday for the past 4 weeks count as liking it!!!i found this spot by blessed Devine purpose. It's within walking distance and we had the pleasure of stumbling upon this beautiful location. Walking in the door greeted by an airy decorated welcoming place. With the beautiful mural in the coffee roasting area on open displace, it's an eye catching and interactive focal point. The staff is friendly and is always willing and able. Drink menu is simple and just well made goodness. The flavors from tea to coffee that are artfully presented, baked savory & sweet treats that continue to expand much to my foodie yummy tummy joy! Listen scones done in varies delightfully tasteful ways, dance party in your mouth goodness quiche and then of course cupcakes or muffins and now!!! TOAST. Listen I rolled in every Tuesday for a month excited to have my Stockton Business Referral & Networking Group Meet-up. Although We will be going to a new location we are soooo excited to rotate back here in a few weeks! Looking forwardf to the new treats and exceptional ambience and service!

Yelp
Great study and work cafe in Downtown Stockton! They have outlets, reliable wifi, and the cutest dog. Will be visiting again.

Lauren C.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about our experience at Trail Coffee Roasters! Not only are they the friendliest coffee shop in town, but the atmosphere in the cafe is wonderful and their products are amazingly delicious! Johnny was beyond helpful and provided such sweet and genuine customer service. He went above and beyond and we will definitely be frequenting Trail on a regular basis. The mocha that they make is officially my favorite mocha of all time (and I've been working in the coffee business for almost a decade), their take-home cold brew concentrate is delicious, and the jalapeno cheddar scone was phenomenal. I can't wait to try more from the menu!
google avatar

Annabel B.

Yelp
Great customer service. So many milk options, soy, almond, coconut and oat.... and fresh pastries on deck

Steven D.

Yelp
Just great coffee and pastries and the cutest dog in all of Stockton. They also have some good office gifts

Kristyn W.

Yelp
I used to go to Trail daily for my Matcha Green Tea Latte. They ran out and I started going to Empresso. I still go to Trail if Empresso is out of Matcha. However, I typically get almost half a cup of straight foam even when I ask for no foam. It's not a difficult procedure and most coffee shops know to simply remove the foam and add more warm milk. Every coffee shop does it with no issues and me not having to ask multiple times. Not trail. I send my employees with instructions on no foam and they come back with almost half a cup of foam.. Why do i want to pay over 6 for half a cup of foam?? My new employee went for a second cup and i get a phone call from them advising-we make your tea the "same way all the time". She was very rude and uncooperative. I guess I will continue to get my matcha from companies that know what customer service is and how to make a matcha with NO foam. Shame. Lost a customer and a business neighbor
google avatar

Catalina S.

Yelp
Coffee is amazing. Friendly staff that know how to make coffee! It's always festive and the pup that hangs out inside makes my day every time. Such a gem in downtown Stockton.

Daniela D.

Yelp
I want to give this place a better review because when I first started coming here about 2 years ago I absolutely loved it! I miss the latte art -- that's what initially worked my interest. I like going to coffee shops for the experience of drinking a high quality latte with lovely latte art. Lately, Trail hasn't been doing that for me and the woman who took my order didn't greet me or my boyfriend at all. I just didn't feel welcomed. I'm a little disappointed. Coffee is still yummy, I just hope my next experience is better.
google avatar

Nissi G.

Yelp
I'm torn! From the first time I walked into this place almost a year ago, I had nothing but good things to say. The coffee, the customer service, the workspace especially--top-notch!!! Then it became hit or miss...but, the real reason I'm on here is to give (Ariana?) a long overdue shoutout. I haven't been back for a while just because I've had a few (let's just say) "not as delightful" encounters... unfortunately /: BUT, that's okay.. Anyway, last visit, my drink didn't seem right and when I asked to buy another shot to add to it to make it better, Ariana didn't hesitate to immediately offer to remake it, no problem. I explained I wasn't trying to be a pain in the ass (and made sure to leave a good tip). She was completely friendly the entire time, and even said to let her know if it still wasn't right the 2nd time around. So, even though I've felt unwelcome at times, I still wanted to show some respect because of those few, greater encounters sprinkled in here and there. And especially because of how Ariana rocked it out that day. That said, it's still a gorgeous spot. Coffee's great. Affogatos (oh gosh) legit what dreams are made of! Still one of my fave workspaces. I just don't frequent it as much as I used to. Hope nothing but the best for this business though!

Yelp
Delighted to have found this! Nice single origins roasted in-house. The spot is comfortably stylish, friendly, and uplifting to the surroundings! I appreciate the delicate flavors of their light and mediums with either oatmilk or nothing. Of course they also do the espresso drinks and teas, which I look forward to trying as well.
google avatar

Tim D.

Yelp
Had to spend sometime out of the office writing. Nice relaxing environment and good coffee. Thumbs up!
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
My work building is nearby so I've dropped by with coworkers a few times. My favorite pick would be the Cortado. It's 3 bucks and simple without any sugar or syrups. They also include sparkling water which is helpful with cleansing your palate before the first sip. As for ice coffee, I would still recommend Red's first for the cold brew then here over the other two shops (empresso and trails). For mochas, I still think empresso wins.
google avatar

M O.

Yelp
Just realized I haven't left a review for the new location yet! Trail is hands down the best coffee you can get around here. There's not very many other places I've been to that you can walk into a beautifully decorated cafe and see the beans in the coffee your drinking being roasted right there! I'm unfortunately not having caffiene anymore, but the other day I enjoyed an almond milk hot chocolate with their seasonal pumpkin whipped cream and it was magical. I also love the toast menu and had the herb butter and jam toast. SO GOOD. I ordered more bread so none of the butter or jam went to waste lol! My whole group (who drives here from Lodi because it's that good) enjoyed all of our drinks and breakfasts (a few of us got seconds lol) just like we always do. The staff is consistently friendly, knowledgeable about their product, and patient with whatever questions or requests we have. Trail is a real gem in Stockton and I'm so glad it's only a 20 minute drive away!

Yelp
Omg why am I just going to this place. Let's start of with the location it's in downtown Stockton an area that is on the come up and I am happy that a new hip restaurant is taking a chance here. When I walked in I felt like this place was a coffee shop out of movie the setup is beautiful ownership took their time when they put together this place from the menu to the cups a lot of care and detail. Lastly the coffee was amazing I've been wanting a fancy cup of coffee my Bautista made my dream come true. Will definitely come back bye bye Starbucks.
