Stopped in today, we were passing through town on a road trip. Stephanie the bartender took care of us and was engaging and attentive. Had a spicy Bloody Caesar - excellent and the gal loved the Blueberry Lemon Drop. I highly recommend you give them a try.

I've been a faithful customer of Trailhead for over 5 years, have traveled far and wide, and can happily report that Trailhead still sells the best gin out of any place I've been. The menu changes occasionally, but the drinks are always unique and delicious. The bartenders are always friendly and helpful. They've got all you need! Stop in and enjoy a great drink. I promise you won't regret it!

If you are waiting for the action to finish at the jump park go next door. Excellent drinks. Lots of great old fashioneds. You can even take a flight of them.

Google
Great location. Staff is very friendly and knows about whiskey. They provide great advice on how to taste it and open it up to the nose. Came into try the wheat and I was not disappointed after a few sips I added 2 drops of water and the flavor just opened up. Ended up purchasing a bottle of the wheat and rye.

Greeted by friendly staff. The cocktails were great! Other patrons were painting and looked to be having a good time. We bought the cherry whiskey.. looking forward to having another!

Google
Excellent service. I only had a mocktail but it was delicious. Friendly folks. Highly recommend. Especially for gifts this holiday season.

Google
Very nice experience with wonderful cocktails.

Google
Large, airy tasting room and the manager is super friendly and creative with flavors! Drinks were on point (apple pie mocktail was fall perfection) and it was a great place to spend an evening.

Yelp
Does not meet ADA requirements. They also ignore those in wheel chairs for even service. Guess they do not consider 27 year old patrons in wheel chairs people. If I could give them a negative ten I would. Hope the owners make necessary changes.

Yelp
Fantastic distillery - great drinks, great spirits, great location, great staff. You can't go wrong with a drink at Trailhead.

Yelp
We popped in here before dinner, as we always love going to small, unique and independent distilleries when we are vacationing. This one did not disappoint. It is housed in a quaintly renovated building, and has a great vibe. We each ordered the 4 tastes with 1 drink option. I stuck to gins and he stuck to whiskey. I really liked their gins - so smooth and unique tasting due to the quality local grains they use to make their spirits. I was told the whiskeys were also very good - and we ended up taking home 4 bottles. The most unique thing we purchased was the whiskey with cocoa infused in it. It sounds weird, but it makes it almost drinkable to anyone - including me, who tends to stay far away from whiskey! The chocolate doesn't make it sweet, but it makes it rich and smooth. We will enjoy our purchases!! I highly recommend coming here if you happen to be in Billings.

Yelp
This place made me extremely happy. The bartender, whose name I didn't catch, was one of the friendliest, nicest people I've ever met. She concocted a drink not on the menu for me - it had (extra) jalapeño, pineapple, and rye whiskey and it was SO good! I could have enjoyed Trailhead all afternoon. Worth a stop in if you're in Billings for sure.

Yelp
We've gone a many time and often had a great experience. Not a fan of the operating manager. On a Friday night showing up at 7:10 PM. Upon walking in, bartender immediately told us she had last call 15 minutes ago....so we left. Very annoying on a Friday when business is normally open until 8 that last call was already done before 7! There were 2 tables of people, so it's not as though the establishment was dead. Seems the bartenders are in charge of operations here so it's hit of miss if they're open when you go.

Yelp
Fantastic craft cocktails and staff. Abby and Joe were great!! Both took their time answering our questions and had lots of good information.

Yelp
I LOVE this place!! Great cocktails, made with their own vodka, gin, and whiskeys, fantastic bartenders, and just a really cool atmosphere. They change up their cocktail menu quite a bit, so you're always bound to find something new and delicious to try. You can try their vodka and whiskey in a flight, then choose a cocktail based on your favorite. I'm a vodka girl but my husband loves their whiskey. The alcohol content can be confusing, but the short version is their liquor is almost double proof standard liquor; so they serve less alcohol in each drink so you can have up to 4 drinks. The smaller pour of their vodka is just as potent as a standard poor of something like Tito's or similar. I promise they're tasty drinks and you're getting your money's worth. A well-made cocktail is always worth the money! Side note: they are kid-friendly in that we can bring our well-behaved children here and they're happy to make them a non-alcoholic treat like a Shirley temple or Tom and Jerry (like a cinnamon hot chocolate).

Yelp
Great little find. Environment is friendly and the service fantastic. The guy really knew his product and made great recommendations. The whisky is great. Had to buy a bottle!
google avatar

Eryn K.

Yelp
Seemed a bit pricey for the product. $15 for 2 drinks (moscow mule packed full of ice in 6 or 8oz cup) and (Gin and tonic with elderflower) it was very tasty though for the couple sips I had just didn't seem worth the price.

Yelp
What can I say? This place is all that is good in small, local businesses. A distillery that serves drinks in very chic surroundings inside an old railway shed was exactly the tonic to a dull old Monday night in Billings. There were a couple of people at the bar but we sat at a table. The deal is that state law says you can buy 2 drinks a day at the distillery and buy 2 bottles of spirits a day. They distill gin & vodka. Cocktails are interesting with new takes on classics such as the mojito or a dirty martini (which comes with blue cheese stuffed olives). The price is right too. Between $7.50 - $9 for premium blends. We were also offered a taste of the spirits neat. Gin is my drink of choice but I have to tell you, that was the cleanest vodka I have ever drunk. It was so smooth, it was unbelievable. Not a hint of burn or kick. I can imagine drinking this neat or on ice. It's so pure, it would be lethal in cocktails! This place has a great feel with lots of cool styling and a slightly industrial vibe to it. Can't recommend this place highly enough. *Note - it closes at 8pm so the cocktails are your pre-dinner aperitif.

Yelp
Excellent drinks but expensive. They also are a little shady in their practices... Due to Montana Law, a person is limited to 2oz liquor per day. Originally you were limited to two drinks (1oz per drink). Then about a year ago, you were able to get FOUR gin and vodka based drinks. Well, the pours went down to 1/2oz for these drinks, but the prices remained the same. If you go, I suggest staying away from gin or vodka based purely because they're ripping you off. Or if you really want a vodka or gin based drink, you need a second person for this 'trick'. Have one person order the two mixed drinks (that's 1oz total of liquor now a days for these). Then the second person can get the four spirit tasting (1/2oz each) for roughly 7$ if my memory is correct. Now you can take one of your tastings and add it to the mixed drink. Magically you now have a full 1oz liquor PER DRINK as GOD intended. Shame on them for halving the liquor in gin / vodka based drinks and not reflecting it in the price.

Yelp
This is a little local distillery that makes its own gin and vodka. The bar serves a variety of mixed drinks made with their product. (Other hard liquors may be available, but we were there to sample their distillates.) Local draught beer was soon to be available, but was not when we visited on 9/11/13. Really enjoyed the ambiance, and conversation was easy, as the sound level was pleasant. Wait staff was most helpful in describing the distilling process and ingredients. I enjoyed my "Moscow Mule", and my wife and mother-in-law had tasty gin & tonics. Many other mixed drinks to try! Due to strange liquor laws imposed by the MT Tavern Association, hours of operation are currently limited 4PM - 8PM, much like the same laws imposed upon the little local MT breweries. Hopefully these laws will change over time.

Yelp
Went here once, won't return. The waitress was so out of it that she had no idea what was going on. We actually left (waited 30+ minutes for our tab, it never came) and gave cash to friends that stayed behind so they could pay our tab... that confused the waitress so much they thought her head was going to explode. Drink was 99% ice and WAY overpriced for the amount of actual cocktail we got. Bartender had an attitude, so we didn't want to chance bringing our displeasure to her attention. The environment IS cool, though... in an old train station in downtown Billings.

Yelp
A new distillery in Billings. A fun idea. Because of MT law you are only allowed to have 2 drinks. Dumbest law ever. The location is pretty awesome. Decorated with a modern antique twist. The staff is very friendly and always stop by to see if you need anything. The drink menu is pretty awesome. I ordered an old fashion and the chocolate Manhattan. The old fashion was good but too sweet. I was looking for that punch you get from a good old fashion. Don't get me wrong, it was good, just need to skip the cherry syrup. Prices are a little on the high side for the size of the cocktail. Four is us went, a total of 6 drinks, and the bill was $50. I'm glad Billings is getting some cool new places. Im sure when we return we will stop in for a drink.

Yelp
HE: I'd like to buy my sister a bottle of something for Christmas. Do you ship? SHE: *You* can. [i.e.: we won't ship it, but you can do that yourself] HE: OK, fine. [HE buys a bottle of gin and leaves] Turns out you can only ship alcohol to a licensed distributor. Given that I only purchased one bottle, I'm not sure why the bartender inferred (incorrectly) that my sister was a liquor distributor. I wound up getting my sister a cookbook for Christmas. Great gin. Poorly informed employees.

Yelp
The Booze is good but over priced. A group of friends and I went in and ordered 5 different drinks, all tasted good but we're basically half drinks. The girl took so much time crushing the ice that the end result was a snow cone with 2 ounces of liquid in a 14oz glass. I literally took 2 drinks to Finnish. The service was okay, the drinks were fine but the ceiling fans were squeaking obnoxiously and the place has dust bunnies the size of golf balls. If they took a little pride in cleanliness and made drinks correctly I think that we wouldn't have been the only table in there.

Yelp
I thought this place was great! I did both the liquor tasting and had a drink which are delicious. When we went the brew master was there and he was very informative and super cool to chat with. The place had a great vibe and even though we were the only customers at the time (when the distillery opened) I would definitely go back when in Billings.

Yelp
In my last few trips to Montana, I'm realizing they're really getting into the distillery business here. Trailhead is fairly new and this was my first trip there. The atmosphere is really cool, being in an old train station, all the way down to the pulley system that runs their ceiling fans. They have a great selection of house-made vodka, gin, bourbon, and blended whiskey. As with most "tasting rooms" in Montana, they had a nice selection of craft cocktails to showcase their product. I had the salty dog. Made with their house gin and grapefruit juice, it was delicious. I also noticed how reasonable their prices were compared to other distilleries I've been to. Service was great. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Delicious drinks, great atmosphere and awesome employees and management. You can only have 2 drinks but it's well worth it.

Yelp
What a great place to drop in for couple drinks! This distillery is so cute and cozy, with nice rustic decor. We got Moscow mules and honestly, these are the best Moscow mules I've ever had. They were only $5 because it was a Wednesday! I got the orange spiced Moscow mulesand my bf got cucumber Moscow mule and I really liked the strong ginger kick in both drinks. I also tried the Montana martini which had chocolate flavored whiskey in it and it tasted like s'more almost lol. The bartender Amanda is very friendly and makes amazing drinks! I would definitely go back!!!!
google avatar

Eric E.

Yelp
Excited for their whiskey to be available. Only a couple more years of waiting! Go check this place out. Really incredible old building and a good happy hour. Get a Moscow mule and kick back.

Yelp
Fabulous Gin joint! The vodka and the Gin is delicious and a wonderful indicator of their delicious whisky they'll be unveiling later this year. The cocktail menu has a wonderful variety and if you like a Bloody Mary, they have a make your own Bloody Mary spread.
google avatar

Amber T.

Yelp
Really cute local distillery. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and bloody mary bar. It is at the old train station. We got to see a bunny when we were walking in! Stephanie was great. We just moved here from Houston, and she could not have been sweeter. We even got to meet her fiance, who was also very welcoming.

Addy C.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place and it rocks!! Great service, spirits, gear and ambience. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Used to be one of the best spots in town for a cocktail. Now they only put 1/2 of liquor in the vodka/gin drinks. My friend also found a blonde hair (like the cocktail waitress') in her drink (her hair is dark), and we could over hear the waitress at the bar telling her coworker that her "hair is up and tight". We were the only customers in the here, and it was very audible. If you like getting overcharged and patronized this might be your place but it will be a while before I come back.

Yelp
Great craft distillery in Billings! My wife and I stopped in during our recent vacation and I tried the flight of four (3 whiskies and 1 gin). We also ordered some meat and cheese. Food and spirits were great and so was the service.

Yelp
We find ourselves here a lot when we're looking for something low key before a night out or on a lazy afternoon. The building itself is full of history and it's fun to see all of the distilling equipment at work. Drinks are always made with fresh ingredients and the bartenders are always willing to make you something special. Really pleased with the their alcohols, I especially like the gin and the chocolate whiskey. All around great place.
google avatar

Caitlinrose F.

Yelp
Poor customer service. Significantly overpriced, especially given the type of service and lack of training employees receive.
google avatar

Laine T.

Yelp
This place is friendly, has great music, has great atmosphere and fantastic gin (all distilled here). I highly recommend this bar!

Larissa L.

Yelp
My husband and I have been driving by this place year after year and finally we were able to make it in one evening. Loved the old restored building, the bartender was very helpful and friendly! But the drinks were the best, Pineapple Jalapeño Moscow Mule was delicious!!!

K. N.

Yelp
I have been coming in here for the past couple years to see how things are coming along, usually on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The products are amazing, but unfortunately the staff is usually not. This is one of the few establishments I go to with a staff that is consistently rude, appears and acts untrained, and seem to care more about their gossip than about giving customer service. I think they need a change of management. The cocktail menu is now mainly sweet drinks instead of a great balanced cocktail I can find elsewhere in town. The product is some of the best local alcohol I've had in this state so I recommend buying and trying it elsewhere in town. Hopefully the poor quality of service doesn't turn people away from highest quality of product.

Yelp
Awesome drinks in an upscale tasting room. The bartender was extremely helpful and knowledgable. Inexpensive mixed drinks with locally produced alcohol.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Fantastic vodka, smells like vanilla, tastes very smooth. I buy it frequently at local liquor stores.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
Best cocktails in town. Great drink menu. I dislike gin and theirs I enjoy. Great for a pre-date or night cap.

Yelp
December 26th, 2014 stopped in and had a couple drinks. Staff was very friendly and fast, prices where a tad high but about what you would expect directly from distillery. I highly recommend the drink Moondance and the tasting of sazerac! A good place for conversation and tasting.

K M.

Yelp
Very poor service! Waited over half hour and still didn't get waited on. Tried to order at the bar and was told we had to order with a waitress( who didn't have a clue as to what they were serving or who ordered what!) Won't go back.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Awesome spot. I'm a huge fan of vodka, but really don't care for gin. However, their gin aged in whiskey barrels can make anyone a believer. I still went with a classic dirty martini and super +++ for the blue cheese stuffed olives! Can't wait for them to start selling in CA!

Natalie K.

Yelp
Super cool place by the railway. Fantastic staff!! They make small batch liquors. Their Great North Vodka isn't good but everything else seemed great. Overall recommend for atmosphere.
