"Trakošćan Castle, located in northern Croatia, is somehow considered a 'small' observation fortress. The building dates back to the 13th century and was taken over by Croatian Ban Juraj Drašković for his personal use. It stayed within the Drašković family until World War II. Inside, the castle contains examples of baroque furniture and different weapons used from the 15th to 19th centuries. Outside, stunning gardens and a large lake welcome visitors year-round." - Travel + Leisure Editors

The castle is nicely renovated but lacks a bit of content. It's filled with furniture from random eras and history of the owners. The outside and the surrounding gardens are beautiful though and definitely worth a visit on a nice sunny day

The castle looks beautiful from afar and up close, the tour is unguided, the price is reasonable. The surroundings are beautiful, the walk around the lake is about 4km in total. Great place.

The castle and landscape is beautiful. Unfortunately the castle was closed at that time so we couldn't go inside .. but the nature around it was beautiful.

From Zagreb and just over an hour driving. with a smartphone you can use Q&R codes and there is a free audio guide. If you download the app you can take animated photos. excellent experience.

Must visit if you're on the way to Zagreb. Picturesque site open to public. Great location with a well-maintened castle with many rooms open, armors and weaponry of the era. The kitchen is very interesting. It also has an application for the castle tour. Everything is free. Also take a coffee at the nearby coffee shop.

The Castle is decent, pretty much every room is opened for guests and filled with some stuff/arranged in specific style. As stated in other comments the lake is currently waterless
