Prime rib that you can cut with a spoon. We ordered an 18oz prime rib to share between my wife and me, and it came perfectly splitted into 2 portions in separate plates (nice touch). Absolutely delicious. Relaxed atmosphere and good service.

Was traveling for work and decided to come here for a late lunch. I love prime rib and had to check it out. I wasn't disappointed at all, the 12 oz prime rib was legit. Tasted great with a bit of horseradish to go with it. Great experience! I would definitely come back.

Wonderful dining experience here. I had the French Onion Soup, New York Steak Sandwich with French Fries, and a Fruit Crisp for desert. Overall, dining was great. They also brought us 2 rounds of fresh baked bread with 2 butter before dinner. I will return to the Trancas Steakhouse. 🙂

I may have had the best filet I've ever eaten here. Absolutely the juiciest, most flavorful piece of beef ever. The ambience is low key and a bit dated - perfect for what it is. Pablo was awesome.

Had a good date night! I loved the prime rib! The servers were sweet despite the Valentine’s Day rush. We were sat in front of karaoke- which wasn’t planned but luckily we loved! Great people and vibes🥰

Easy menu options. Quality beef. Preference of cut & cook were both met. Exceptional service. Garlic fries and house ranch are notable. I recommend this steakhouse, absolutely. Atmosphere is something to be desired, it's plain but the company you bring and the food you experience is well worth it!

This was a hidden gem. We are from Southern California and wanted a steak to go with some local wine. This place did not disappoint. We had the calamari appetizer and a ribeye for the main dish. The veggies were cooked to perfection and the masked potatoes were perfect. The steak was top quality with great prices. Definitely coming back.

The $21 french dips delivered. Excellent flavor & quality. Aujus was on point! Very delicious just small portions for the price. Friendly staff. We got extra bread and popcorn. Pros: great local spot, bar and wine list. French dips are great Cons : super loud busy on a Saturday night long wait for server. Smallish portions.

Everyone was so fun at karaoke night last Friday. Looking forward to coming back the crowd was enjoying food and fun. The service was fast and kind.

We came on Valentines Day and I have to say what a great evening! Excellent service and food. They did an amazing job given how busy they were. They didn't have a price fix menu which we appreciated. However the specials of clam chowder and beef wellington were wonderful. Salads were great and we also had the Ribeye, Filet Mignon and Salmon. The newly renovated dining room is a plus. Love this place!! Got to check it out if you haven't.

Excellent old-school steakhouse. The service was exceptional. Not only was the server, informative and knowledgeable, he was pretty funny and entertaining in a non-intrusive way. In addition to the main server, others came as needed without fanfare. The ambience is pretty low-key pretty cool, definitely rural local California, chill and very comfortable

We have wanted to eat here for years, we couldn't do to our dog. Tonight we ate here and besides the wait, even with a reservation, it was fun and good. The hostess did a great job of dealing with it. Driving by over the years we have had so many ideas about what it would be like inside. It was all of them and more. Was it the decor, the steaks, the bar scene? Nope it was the family feel of people that have been coming here for years. This is not a high end steakhouse but the food was good and people were really friendly. The service was great and the inside was not what I expected but better I see why people love this place and I would come back. Oh and this was karaoke night and these people take this seriously, there were some great performances. I can't sing so everyone is good but this one women absolutely dominated an ABBA song

This has to be one of my favorite places to go on a Friday night when I need to get out. There is indoor seating, as well as outdoor. Both are great! If it's warm enough, sitting outside is relaxing, especially with the lights they have. Not too bright, but just enough to give it that night life vibe. The food here is delicious, and always cooked to order. The prime rib with creamy horseradish sauce is an absolute MUST! Pair that with a Guinness and you're set. The waiters are always on top of things too. If your glass is empty, you better believe they will be right there to top you off or ask if you'd like a refill from the bar. Great service paired with great company makes this a perfect evening spent!

Food is always spectacular. Steaks are amazing, and they have a great selection of California wine. The Bar is always packed and the nights wit karaoke is fabulous. People here can really sing.Been coming here now for 10.

So I have heard about this place for years but have never had an opportunity to give it a shot . Let's start with the service ,,, service was really good , everyone was friendly and very welcoming . Bartender was funny and made very good drinks . Ambiance was nice , had that old fashioned steak house feel , they had Karaoke setting up in one room and it looked like people was enjoying themselves. Oh and the bathrooms are very clean . Now the food ,,, food was excellent, we had four different dishes and they all came out correct and very flavorful. Everything was cooked correctly and hot . The prices at this restaurant for the quality are great , surprised how reasonable the steaks and seafood is . All in all I am definitely going back , I look forward to visiting again and making this a regular dinning place for me and my family .

I was skeptical of trying TSH because of mixed reviews but love old school so decided to give it a go and old school it is. There were Very friendly patrons and Staff. Food was not acceptable. Four out of the five of us got sick after leaving. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Whenever I'm in Napa around lunchtime before heading home to Sonoma County I make sure I visit the Trancas Steakhouse for the VERY BEST I'VE EVER EATEN FRENCH DIP SANDWICH. May not look too fancy, but it's a melt in your mouth pile of thinly sliced prime rib on a pillowy soft roll. I usually ask for some creamed horseradish to accompany the Au Jus and I'm in sheer heaven. Service is friendly and efficient. It's always filled with lots of locals so get their early so you snag a parking space in their lot.

So let me explain my review.. I loooove Trancas and would come here often and even more whenever I worked in Napa.. However, our lives changed a little bit after our new grandbaby was born and I began babysitting my beautiful grandson.. We haven't been able to make the trip within the year and so we were able to come today 08/01/25 and got sat and forgotten about and had to wait like over 20 mins for anyone to even take our drink order.. So when someone finally came I ordered my regular crispy steak salad and was totally blindsided by the change from using mandarins to oranges.. The oranges were terribly sour and not at all sweet and did not go well with the rest of my salad But then my husband's steak was cooked rare and not the medium he had ordered.. My salad can be an easy fix if I bring my own can of mandarins, which I definitely will and the steak will be sent back again if it's rare but the rest of the food was delicious.. Also, all the pictures are taken down off the walls which is a huge reason why we like this place so much.. It's a locals mainly place and would love visiting and seeing all the faces of different customers throughout the years.. it was kinda sad that this place is changing.. the feel of this place is why we always come back.. Hopefully the dessert that we just ordered redeems this place and if so, then I'll go from 3 stars to 4.. so if you see a 4 star on my review then the bread pudding was delicious

Stopped for dinner last night, Saturday. Had the Filet Mignon and my wife had the Salmon. Great food, the service was beyond excellent, great staff and nice atmosphere. They serve aged beef and so tender. I highly recommend Trancas Steakhouse, definitely will eat here again

I got my hair done for NYE and the stylist told me that she was having NYE dinner at this place which is a family favorite for many years. From what she told me, I knew we had to try it before leaving town so we went last night. First of all its a self standing red building with a Palm tree that blocks a good part of the sign from the street so if you go at night, there are lights that trim the building so it was easy to find. I read reviews and decided to have a favorite when going to steakhouses, a steak sandwich. It was a good and TENDER! You really don't need to open it and put on all the fixings yourself because they're neatly stacked in the sandwich already. I opened mine to put the pickles (they tasted homemade and delicious) and some steak sauce inside. It comes with fries but I opted for geeen salad with Thousand Island instead. My partner had a top sirloin steak that broccoli and baked potato. He said it was very good. Before our meals came, they brought out some warm french bread and butter. It was perfect while we sipped our wine. We enjoyed the ambiance, food, and mostly the attentiveness of our server and all of the other staff always checking on us as they walked by. My compliments to the owner, chef and management for having a great staff and delicious food! We're from out of town and will definitely return!

The prime rib was delicious and the baked potatoe was juat a good. I do wish that they had a couple different options for another side instead of the mixed vegetables they had. But I totally understand. They want to keep it with a Simp as simple as possible. We have never been there. We just were in town shopping and decided to check it out. I am a big steak eater and love trying new places. The ambience inside was warm and comforting. I love the fact that they have photos of old employees, or customers spread out throughout the walls. The service was OK. The food did come out pretty quick. We had the large prime rib but is a little pricey but again it's prime rib and the medium size not much of a difference between small and medium.

Omg the prime rib was outstanding and the clam chowder was so good. Martha was our server and she was So great!! Very nice and spot on for everything. I loved the restaurant, ambiance was very nice. We will definitely be back!!!

Once again Trancas Steakhouse does not disappoint. Locals come here for outstanding service delicious meals and a homey atmosphere. No hype .just great good and impeccable service. My meal New York strip Next table over shared a complementary glass of oak knoll cab which made it even better . Go . Avoid downtown and enjoy ! bon appetite!

This place was phenomenal. I'm not sure why they don't have 5 stars. The staff was amazing, we had Edith as the our server and Jesus as our busser, they did a phenomenal job. The food was so fresh and delicious. Everything we ate was seasoned perfectly. I did not take a picture of the jalapeño poppers because we ate them in a minute! Lol But they were also bomb! I recommend this place. We will def be beck when we come to Napa.

Ambiance is fine. The problem is communication with repeat customers! I am at the veterans home in Yountville. I count on Trancas Steakhouse for Friday night Karaoke. For the 4th of July I double checked to make sure karaoke was still on by calling at 1pm in the afternoon. I was assured that karaoke was still on in spite of the holiday. I am on a fixed income and I have to conserve my resources, such as gas for my van! So I went to Trancas Friday evening, only to be told, when I arrived, there would be no karaoke! I made the trip for nothing! About 16 miles round trip! I wasted the trip/gas! Not only was it disappointing, it was wasteful! Trancas needs to do better letting regulars know of any schedule changes! At least inform the folks who answer your phone! Do better!

3.5 prime rib dinners My Bro loves this place...god he has really mediocre taste...but you have to admire Trancas Steakhous longevity. I mean I have been coming here for the down homey relative cheap eats for over 30 years. And there is something to be said about a place that has that staying power. It is like going to Musso and Frank in LA or Taddich in San Fran....a certain Jena Se Qua. Come for the ambiance...maybe the martinis....but don't expect a mindblowingly meat meal.

Hubs and I headed here on a Sunday afternoon looking for that perfect prime rib. Our tastebuds landed us at Trancas Steakhouse which was open right at 11 AM We were one of the first people to get seated. The host promptly seated us at one of the taller tables and were handed to menus and their delicious iced tea with a basket of bread and butter. Hubs ordered a 12 ounce prime rib and I ordered a 6 ounce and to be honest comparing the two there wasn't much of a difference. We opted for a side of sauté mushrooms with mashed potatoes and veggies. Don't forget the mushrooms. Don't ever forget the mushrooms these are a perfect complement to the prime rib. perfectly. Definitely a good solid prime rib. I would definitely go back.

I've always supported norm and his businesses and have eaten at trancas steakhouse multiple times. The last handful of times the service has not been up to par. Thee waitress we had was nice, but she wasn't fluent in English and you could tell. And after our meal for her to ASK for the tip after reading the bill and it included gratuity, was very low class. She lied to my elderly uncle and advised him there was no tip included... the bill that came stated otherwise. We were a party of 5. The food was okay.. we all had the rib eye steak and 14 oz of super thin steaks, they did not look like 14 oz at all. Super disappointing and for the over $400 dollar bill we paid, it should have been a better quality of steak. The chicken wing appetizers were pretty dry, but I guess we will take that rather than having chicken that's undercooked. All in all, it was a very poor experience, we have NEVER had a waitress demand a tip at the end of our meal, we truly used to enjoy trancas steakhouse, but I think it's time to go back to Cordieros or Cole's chop house.

Place was crowded but had short wait for a table. Ordered 6 oz prime rib and was perfect medium rare.Finished our sour dough bread and butter but apparently no refills.Had to request more water 3 times.

I want to start this review by thanking the owner, and staff of this establishment for the convenience, courtesy and care they extend to disabled seniors!! My mom and I came in today to have lunch, and the staff did everything that they could to make her visit excellent! She had her heart set on the braised short ribs, but they were not on the menu when we came in. Our server checked with the kitchen, and they kindly agreed to make some for her. They were fabulous. My mom was exceptionally happy because this is one of her most favorite dishes and it's hard to find anywhere that can make it well. We certainly found that place today. One minor negative Sidenote: the server did not ask how I wanted my burger cooked, and it came out medium well. I prefer my burger between medium rare and medium. Having said that, the burger was juicy enough, and with the quality of the meat they use, the amount of cooking didn't seem to matter as much. Still a tasty burger. This was a great find. Wife had the salmon and I had short ribs. Both were excellent as was the service. Definitely frequented by locals who were having a great time. Highly recommend

A bit too bright inside but still a fun, unique and charming steakhouse with a colorful crowd and consistently good food. Karaoke night in particular is fun there and the staff are super friendly. Napa needs traditional old-school places like this. It's like walking into a steakhouse in Palm Desert in the old days... kitschy and cool and casual. Love this place. They just need to dim the lights a bit! But highly recommend the whole experience.

Nice place , great service, food was good. This place is nice , if your looking for a place nice comfortable dinner , this is the place . Prime rib is delicious. If you want a salad or soup it's extra cost , doesn't come with your meal . You get vegetables an a potato. Pricey but it'a good . If your in this area try this place out

Absolutely everything the service was fantastic. The food was wonderful. The bread was soft and warm the artichoke absolutely flavorful, pear salad, yummy and the chicken Parmesan you could cut through with a fork. We were just cruising through town saw the place decided to stop best decision.!

You can actually make this your go to special place. The food is beyond excellent. The service is high quality, and the ambience is usually a full house. One side is Quiet quieter, Ready got side louder with fun watching a game or at the bar. Excellent place to take your family friends. I can't say enough about this restaurant and their food.

Great food in Sonoma. The value is amazing and service better. Many other restaurant in the area are higher priced and pretentious

Don't pre judge based on the building or interior photos. The inside is much brighter and nicer than I expected, with a high end, brightly lit bar. It feels like a comfy place to hang out during a late lunch (or early dinner for some) with friendly regulars and staff.

As a local, this is one of the very few local spots that keeps me coming back again and again. Excellent drinks, service, and food! The price:quality ratio is a billion times better than the tourist traps downtown. It's also a wonderful spot "where everybody knows your name." Karaoke on Friday nights and salsa on Saturdays! Get the pork Milanese!

This is my second time here. I couldn't remember my experience the first time because it was so long ago. Came for a holiday dinner with coworkers. Called in to make reservations a week in advance for 11 people. I received a text confirmation when I made the reservation and the day before. I appreciated that. Parking lot is small but we were able to find a spot. Inside to the left they have booths which seemed a little upscale, in the middle was the bar area, off to the right were more tables and live entertainment, and they had outdoor dining. We were seated off to the right. There were three small tables pushed together next to booth seats. The environment was loud, they had a much older crowd, and were we able to see basketball on the tv in the bar area where we were sitting so that wasn't bad. The food: there was bread and butter on the table, and we ordered a few appetizers. Calamari frito misto and grilled artichokes. Both were ok. I ordered the 6oz grilled top sirloin, medium with mashed potatoes. Others ordered prime rib, ribeye, and fish. I have to say the meat was delicious, and perfectly seasoned. I also compliment the prime rib. I snuck a few bites from a coworker and it was soft, melt in your mouth good. The top sirloin was small and the portions on the potato and vegetables were not enough for the price. I was still a little hungry. We all shared dessert: brownies and cheesecakes. The cheesecake had an odd texture. You would expect a thick, rich and creamy dessert but it was mousse like and light which I did not expect. To his their own. Beautiful presentation but not my favorite. The brownie however was rich, chocolately and the perfect to end the meal. It was simple yet satisfying. The service was great. Employees were very attentive and pleasant. Overall, the meal was not bad. Definitely worth trying.

Oh yes. After a full day of wine tasting, this steak is great. The staff was entertaining. They taught my sister how to cook a steak. It was funny. The setting was dim & noise control was okay. Everyone in there was friendly & nice complementing my cute niece. Yeah it was a lovely experience.

This is a Quaint place in Napa right off Trancas St....called Trancas Steak House. "Home of the best prime rib" so they proclaimed !! On the sign in their establishment. My wife ordered the 6 oz medium rare. She loves Prime Rib and used the House of Prime Rib as our standard, to say the least, we were hoping for the best (with such a proclamation, we had high hopes) The lady helping us was nice and the place was nice. Some yelling from the bar as football games were going on at 1p on a sunday giving it a real casual feel. Her food came w broccolli/carrot, mash and some horse radish. I ordered the Garden Burger w fries, I thought it was real good. My wife agreed, the fries were good. THAT was her best comment that was considered good about the food here, mind you, she has the so called BEST PRIME RIB in front of her!! The fruit crisp is excellent. So, I feel the place is good and is nice, the claim shd be changed...is my opinion.

My bride and I enjoyed a wonderful prime rib dinner here! We were seated promptly and fresh bread and our drinks arrived quickly! We started with the shrimp scampi appetizer and it was outstanding although only 4 shrimp in total. My bride ordered a small cup of clam chowder which she raved about. I had a fresh garden salad. We shared the 18 ounce prime rib and it's the best in Napa! The sides were delicious and we finished with a fantastic cremé brule desert! We had good service from our server and she was working hard although she was not able to check on us. I do know they had two servers call out sick this evening so the only two working were doing everything they could. I tipped generously and thanked her. If you are looking for the best prime rib in Napa, this is it and the prices are reasonable too.

Absolutely outstanding...not one critical comment. Staff and service are excellent, steaks are exceptional and all the accompaniments. We would HIGHLY recommend this steak house again. I had the Ribeye and it was not just better but far better than most higher end steak houses I've been to. This is a family favorite for us! When we're feeling for something, a little bit nicer than Frida's, but not as celebratory as Cole's, this is where we like to go! They have a full bar as advertised, and a quite nice ribeye. I like to get mine with a baked potato and spinach, but my youngest daughter prefers french fries and broccoli. Food and service were amazing! We had reservations, did not wait to be seated for our group of 10. Our order did not take long once order was placed. Everything was delicious!!!! Both Edith and Jesus were very friendly and very attentive. Do recommend this Steakhouse.

My sis and I, alongside her group of friends, went here one Saturday afternoon. It was one of those we couldn't find any other spots so we ended up here b/c it was last minute... The ambiance... definitely not Napa like. It almost reminded me of a spot alongside of nowhere. It looked more of a "bar" rather than a steakhouse. Walking in... there were a few NFL games being played and being Asians... of course everyone turned and looked at us... yup - this is NAPA! We of coursed walked into the other group of asians... my sis's friend ordered our food... I remember getting the French Dip... and being hungry and prepping to consume alcohol... I had to eat it... as much as I could. The French Dip itself was bland and for 20$... you'd think it would be more tasty. I ended up eating half of it as well as half of the fries. Overall... not sure what the rest of the group had - though I think they liked it or they just didn't care - but definitely not going back. If you're desperate for food... look for another fast food joint and or go to Oxbow market... it'll definitely be worthwhile.

Had a reservation for 10 and when we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately to our table. We were attended right away with our drinks and appetizers. The waitress (cannot remember her name) was very sweet and patient with taking all of our orders and requests. There was also a waiter that was so attentive and fast with our requests. The walls are filled with pictures of employees, past employees and family according to what one of the workers explained to us which is not what you would expect at a steakhouse but hey didn't bother us. The music playing was a cool playlist lots of oldies but goodies. I had the calamari plate for appetizer and it was good! I ordered the filet minion and chose the clam chowder soup to go with and let me just say the clam chowder was delicious!!! My steak was cooked just right and was very content :) We were celebrating my birthday and after dinner the waitress showed up with a small bowl of ice cream with a candle on top. That truly made my night! If in Napa, I would totally recommend this place.
