When entering TrashHawk your eye is immediately drawn to all of the paraphernalia on the walls and ceiling. Apparently the owner had collected a lot of the stuff from her grandmother's basement and vintage stores. This gives the place a very cozy feel. We needed an extra chair for our table, and the bartender, Maddy, suggested we grab a chair from the back. I was shocked when I went up the stairs and around the corner to discover a big additional space in the back! My favorite decor was the wallpaper in the bathrooms. Both of the bathroom's walls are plastered with old Life Magazine ads, one bathroom had liquor ads and the other has cigarette ads. Definitely warrants lingering a bit long on the toilet seat to see them all :).
It was a Sunday afternoon and happy hour, and the drinks were cheap and unique - just how I like them! I had the Lil" Smidge (Malibu, Well Rum, and Pineapple with Sprite & soda water) which hit the spot, and Maddy kept them coming. They have popcorn, chips and lunchables available, but you are allowed to bring in your own food. As we were leaving a food truck pulled up out front, and I was told they have rotating food trucks regularly.
