Trattoria Al Moro - Review - Trevi - Rome - The Infatuation

"The carbonara at Trattoria Al Moro swaps guanciale for pancetta. If this grave Italian sin wasn’t enough of a red flag, the dish itself is painfully short on salt, pepper, and that essential fatty pork cheek flavor. And the vibe doesn’t help. Whenever we visit, a curt host greets us with the warmth of a TSA agent, sizing us up as if our shoes might determine whether our reservation is legitimate—and the high prices only drive the point home. The only real saving grace is the intimacy of the old-school space (they’ve been open for over 100 years, after all) and the tightly packed tables. The one dish that actually delivers—tagliolini al tartufo—is only around for truffle season." - Annie Replogle

If you have lots and lots of money, you may enjoy seasonal mushroom dishes at Al Moro, one of the priciest places in town.

What to do if you only have 24 hours in Rome, Italy - SilverKris

"Tucked in an alley near the Trevi Fountain, this intimate wood‑panelled trattoria is one of Rome’s most famous, serving old‑school Roman classics to generations of illustrious diners including Federico Fellini; standout dishes include eggplant parmigiana and gnocchi with white truffle." - SilverKris

Really nice food, especially the truffle pasta and strawberry cake. Service is efficient. Menu is large so there are plenty of options. Pricing is higher compared to other restaurants, which in my opinion is fine, it’s your choice to dine there. What I didn’t like is after you pay they make you leave a cash tip after - not something I have experienced in Europe before and it felt a bit sneaky…

Exceptional from all points, real authentic italian cuisine, lovely place, really kind and funny staff, makes you feel at home 💗 My boyfriend had the best pasta 🍝 of his life (maniche di frate con salsicce e funghi porcini), definitely try these if you can! They also were kind to accomodate my gluten allergy and offered gluten free options. Will surely return every time I visit Rome

I have to admit I was expecting more after all the hype. Service was great, with good recommendations, and we did enjoy the meal. The ambience, though, could use some improvement. Tables are so close together they have to be moved just to sit down or get up. That said, kudos for the dessert: the torta di fragoline was delightful and the perfect way to end a good meal.

The seafood pasta was AMAZING. House wine was also very good. A friend recommended this place and i’m so glad I got to go. The waiter was really nice and gave great service as well. He recommended the strawberry cake for dessert and it did not disappoint ! I hope I have time to come back here before I leave Rome

Had an incredible meal! A bit quiet inside but wonderful service and they were incredibly accommodating. Very quiet inside and a bit more lively outside. Feels like an intimate experience.

Amazing dinner in a cool atmosphere. You have to try the strawberry cake - and remember to bring cash to tip the waiters! :)

To all the negative reviews, it’s a price point problem I get it. Execution is spot on - every dish here is perfectly executed. Flavors on point - if you think Italian, this is it. Service - Italian, exactly as expected. House wine, burrata, lamb, anchovies, carbonara — all perfect. If you think differently you need to rethink your review. This is Italian. And it’s perfect. Get the wild strawberry tart. If you don’t know what that is, don’t go here. @Anne Mohan thank you for sticking to your guns.

The tables are too close to each other, which feels uncomfortable. The food is tasty, but the staff behaves with a touch of passive aggression.
