Trattoria Battibecco

Disappointing. We started on the wrong foot having to wait 30 minutes for our starters, starters that couldn’t have been easier to prepare (tortellini in brodo & steak tartar) The truth is timing was out and dishes were under par and terribly constructed. In my opinion, even taking into account location and overheads, this is an overpriced restaurant. Just look at the photos of our second course 🤷‍♂️And this is in the Michelin Guide? Seriously!! No thought, NONE, has gone into constructing a decent plate of food. This restaurant clearly survives on past reputation. I’ll stop here before I reconsider the three stars I’ve given. Would we return? No

The food is fantastic from Antipasto to main course to dessert .. everything is good. Highly recommended if you are in Bologna.

Elegant Dining in the Heart of Bologna Tucked away in a narrow street in the city center, Trattoria Battibecco offered us a stylish and refined dining experience. The food was delicious, the wine selection well-curated, and every dish was beautifully executed. While the atmosphere leaned a bit formal, we still very much enjoyed our dinner. A great spot for a more upscale meal in Bologna—just be sure to book in advance!

Comfort food on a high level. We had a wonderful evening at Battibecco. The food was really good (the antipasti could have been a little more spicy for my taste), the wine was great (recommended by the floor manager), the desert was a dream! So far, it's been the best dinner we've had in Bologna. (And we've had more expensive ones.)

Absolutely delicious and a break from many of the more traditional places. Modern room and fresh menu. I had the risotto with shrimp & yellow curry, which was great. The “fried” shrimp and calamari served in a cone were light, airy, and actually baked.

This was an outstanding fine dining experience. Local favorites executed with skill. A very friendly staff and a beautiful dining space. A must try while in Bologna!

Amazing food experience. It is a fine restaurant which means that they are a little posh about who they let in. They actually refused some some a table because they were not dressed properly. I will say “dress up nice and let yourself enjoy a great and tasty dinner”. It is definitely a food level that you do no experience in every restaurant. We were very pleased about the food. Are you a foodie going to Bologna you need to try it.

I have traveled all over the world, dined at every type of restaurant from small to large, inexpensive to expensive, simple to complex, zero to 3 Michelin stars. I never imagined one of the best meals I would have in my life so far would come from a business trip to Bologna, Italy, but here I am. Trattoria Battibecco is a phenomenal restaurant and Chef Nico Costa is a master of his craft. A simple dressed salad studded with julienned root vegetables and a simple dressing got our evening off to a nice start. The fusilli with sautéed bacon and onion was absolutely delicious, the pasta cooked a perfect al dente. The beef filet rolled in puff pastry was simply incredible. The beef cooked a PERFECT medium rare, red in color and so tender you could cut it with slice of bread. This may be the most perfectly prepared piece of beef I’ve ever consumed. To finish, a cornicione fried shrimp and squid, lightly breaded to allow for the flavors of the seafood to shine. The only disappointing memory I will have of this restaurant is not being able to secure another reservation during my stay. Delizioso!

Wonderful food. Excellent service. Lovely ambience. Lots of guests knew other guests & all must be repeat visitors. This is an evening you should not miss

Great food, modern decor, great service best profiteroles anywhere! Wine is awesome. Had the Beetroot risotto so light and fresh.

This is a restaurant the has all the Bolognese specialties and they are all excellent. Tortellini in Brodo, salami and great grilled meat. When you walk in you don't think that it's traditional restaurant because the decor is a bit modern but it is a traditional Bolognese restaurant with a bit of a twist. Our waitstaff was terrific, friendly and accommodating. A great place and highly recommend !

We were lucky to get a table at Trattoria Battibecco without a reservation. Delicious food and wine where we enjoyed the pasta, duck, and cod. Delicious!

This restaurant deserves its very good reviews. The service was excellent and the waitstaff very helpful. Risotto with squid ink and cuttlefish and gremigna (homemade pasta) with sausage were just delicious. The calamari and shrimp with yellow curry and veal bolognese were both very good but o would say not as great as the prima plates. We would definitely return here.

This is a wonderful restaurant in the heart of Bologna, Italy. My son and I stumbled onto this restaurant, and could not have been happier. The food was extremely high quality, all cooked perfectly. The service outstanding, and the ambiance very nice. A little pricey for Bologna, but very worth it. The risotto was to die for, and all of our meals were perfect.
