12 San Francisco Restaurants Perfect for Outdoor Dining in a Group | Eater SF

"West Portal doesn’t have too much in the way of robust outdoor dining options. That makes Trattoria da Vittorio all the more special, a go-to for fans of family-style Southern Italian cuisine. The restaurant was given the stamp of approval by the local tastemakers at KQED’s Check, Please! and is host to loads of outdoor seating." - Paolo Bicchieri

Excellent and friendly service. The lasagna was delicious and hearty, but our other dish, oxtail pasta felt bland and also under salted. The Caesar salad wasn’t anything to write home about, but the garlic cheese bread was decent. Overall not worth the price. Doesn’t feel like authentic Italian food. Do yourself a favor and go to Little Joe’s down the street for takeout. Better value and quality

I went here for a food tasting for my wedding. Vittorio, the owner, from the start was amazing. He was the ONLY caterer who picked up the phone to call me and talk details. And he called me- no exaggeration- within 10 minutes of me emailing an inquiry. Some of the other places I reached out to never even got back to me. We scheduled a tasting and it was such a pleasure to go to his restaurant and meet him in person. Everything we tried was delicious which made it hard to put a menu together cause we wanted EVERYTHING! After a few emails back and forth, he was able to customize our menu and work with a budget we felt comfortable with. Our wedding is next year and I will update with more pictures but we are SO EXCITED to serve this delicious food to our guests!!!! Highly recommend this restaurant for any meal or for catering! Vittorio is fantastic! Pictured: a variety of bruschettas, meatball, pesto pasta, pasta with meat sauce, fiochetti (my personal fave) lemon chicken, chicken Marsala, lasagna, eggplant parm, profiteroles, canola and tiramisu. . . . . 5-19-25 update- we had our wedding. The food was AMAZING! All the guests loved everything and Vittorio and his team did an excellent job serving!!!!!!! We changed our menu to be: Homemade Fiocchetti pasta, chicken piccata, short ribs, mashed potatoes, fresh veggies, bread and cedar salad. Hands down would hire him again and again! It was a pleasure working with him. I’m only sad I don’t have pictures. Will update if I receive any of the food !

This place is old school Italian in a good way. Cozy even. The service was very good. The food was solid but could have used more seasoning. It was surprisingly crowded for an early dinner. The combo bruschetta was good but could have benefited from some salt.

We walked by and saw "lambshank", reminding us of Bologna, Italy so we had to try it. The lambshank was tender and the clam linguini delicious. Huge Caesar salad, which we split.

One of my favorite places to go to for Italian cuisines! Here is what we ordered: - Lasagna $24 - Pappadelle Alfredo $20 - Garlic Bread $10 I always either order their lasagna, pappadelle or their fettuccine. This this I got their lasagna as I was craving something meaty 😂 The lasagna was cooked al dente and their meat sauce is very rich in flavor. The tomato sauce gives it a tangy & hearty taste with the herbs & spices they use. My boyfriend ordered their pappadelle Alfredo and this always hits the spot as well! Love the creamy sauce & the soft and chewy noodles. Love how the flat pasta just sucks up all of that creamy goodness, making every bite super fun to eat!

Overview: feels like an Italian resturant. Plenty of wine bottles...the wine list is extensive. Outdoor patio seating Meal/Time: Dinner Sunday 523PM Seated: 523PM Ordered: 532PM First ordered item arrived: 540PM Decor/Atmosphere: Italian cafe, wine Service/ Front of the House: Greeted and seated immediately Service/Serving Staff: order taker did not introduce himself. Asked if we had any questions. Service Staff not engaging. After we got our appetizers the waitstaff became more attentive. They cleared the starter plates and replaced the used silverware...really appreciate it. Did not come around to see if I wanted a refill of my iced tea. Food: Grilled Polenta with Gorgonzola Mushroom cream sauce $20. Not bad... you can really taste the cheese. I did not see any grill marks on the Polenta. It was more of a slight pan crisper then grilled. Fried Calamari and artichoke $22. Cooked perfectly. Crispy, tender and moist. Crust is light and airy. For the main course, I had the "grilled" Branzino $32. The dish was served with mashed potatoes and Brussel Sprouts. The brazino was more pan fried then grilled. The dish was really good and a real keeper. The fish was juicy and flaky with perfect amount of salt and lemon. The Brussel Sprouts were tender and not bitter. Mashed was bit watery but good nevertheless. Value: good value for the quality of the meal. Service could be a bit better. Restroom: single unisex. Spacious with baby changing table. It was stocked Will I come back?: Yes...the short ribs looked tempting.

I just had trattoria da vittorio cater for my wedding party. It was the most easy enjoyable and most delicious experience. From the initial quote and conversation to the delivery of the food itself. They made the whole experience so easy and stress free. Delivery was prompt and the food was absolutely delicious and not one single crumb was left! Two days later people are still talking about the food! I could not recommend this place more if you need anything to cater or just simple go for a place to eat let this be on the top of your list!

An hour before closing and lost on where to find dinner, my husband and I stumbled into Trattoria da Vittoria hoping to grab the very last table. It was a busy Friday night and the restaurant was buzzing. Even with the rush and the late timing, we were greeted warmly and offered a table. When the couple beside us said hello and gave suggestions on what to order, we did not hesitate. After ordering a few glasses of red wine and the garlic cheese bread, we shared the orecchiette pasta - homemade orecchiette with spicy sausages, broccoli rabe, and 'nduja. It was exquisite. Great texture. Spicy and tangy but not overpowering. Getting each of the ingredients into one bite was heavenly. I’ve since had this dish locally, and it did not have the spice and POW that the dish at Trattoria Da Vittorio had. I loved this restaurant so much that I suggested that my group of friends visit. I went on Friday and again on Sunday! We had a large group of thirteen and they took great care of us. I highly recommend Trattoria Da Vittorio.

Yelp
I love this place. I've been here many times, always enjoy it. It's probably my favorite restaurant. The Orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe is probably my favorite pasta dish ever.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday for lunch. The restaurant wasn't busy. The ambiance was nice, casual and laid back. We ordered one of their specials that day - risotto, and lasagna (not pictured), calamari, ham sandwich with fries, and a salad. The artichoke salad and ham sandwich with fries was good, the risotto with salmon and lasagna were rich and filling - but very salty. The lasagna slice was enough to feed two people. Calamari was extremely salty. For dessert we ordered cheesecake and tiramisu. Both were delicious. The staff were pleasant and attentive.

Yelp
Family from out of town wanted Italian food. Tuesday afternoon so it wasnt during rush hour which was nice cause we were able to be seated right away for our party of 8. Plus we had to get to the airport by 5:00. We ordered the calamari & artichoke, homemade pasta with ox tail, carnivorous pizza, eggplant parm, lasagna with the lemoncello cake and Carmel Gelato with sea salt and olive oil. We liked the pizza, lasagna, and Eggplant parm. The lemoncello cake and Gelato was also tasty. And all the food was either good or not good... I dont want to say bad cause it wasnt bad, just lacking in flavor. While the food came out relatively quick. The service was lacking. We werent offered bread and we had to ask several times for more water. I would understand if it was busy for this but there were 3 different servers while the place was not just relatively empty... but completely empty but for us. And the waiters came by smelling like cigarettes which left a bad taste in my mouth. We had to go up to the waiter to pay for the check cause we werent able to flag then down as they were just no attentive.

Yelp
Unfortunately, a mid experience. We came here on a Monday at around 6pm and it was pretty empty. Because we weren't super hungry, we shared 2 pastas and 1 pizza between four people. The Bella pizza was not bad but nothing to write home about; same for the oxtail ragu. The most disappointing thing was the lasagna. I walked past this restaurant before and had seen someone eating a delicious looking lasagna. What we were presented was this collapsed pasta thing...see the last picture. I wasn't even sure if it was lasagna. When we asked whether the dish was supposed to look like that, the waiter was kind of dismissive and said they could get another one if we really wanted to. They eventually brought out a replacement that looked much better. Taste wise, it was just okay. All in all, not a restaurant I would recommend

Yelp
Let's see... Parklet - One of the best we have seen and enjoyed dining in. The restaurant itself was crowded the evening we were there. Service - Felix and the support staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. Food - Great! I liked Vittorio's recommendation regarding the lamb shank. It was fall off the bone tender. The portion size for each entree was more than fair.

Yelp
I was lured here by one specific item - Fiocchetti Handmade Pasta stuffed w/Italian cheese, pear, gorgonzola cream sauce. Ever since being blown away by this flavor combination in Italy, I've been seeking it out anywhere I can find it! This pasta dish just totally met my needs here so well that I wanted to lick the plate when I was done.

Yelp
Rating 3.5 stars. Went here with friends as it has been many years since we have last been here. My friend ordered the fish (sorry forgot which one specifically) which they thoroughly enjoyed. My other friend ordered the pollo marsala which she said was okay but would probably order something else next time. As for myself I ordered the Bella pizza which I had originally thought was individual size but turned out to be family style. Great size for what you pay for! Ingredients were super fresh and my friends enjoyed my pizza as well. May be personal preference however it was really loud and it was a bit hard to hear one another. If you're looking to catch up with friends and family I would probably see if their outdoor seating area may be more suiting. In addition, since we sat in the middle of the room, felt like it was a tight squeeze between myself and the waiters and guests every time they passed by to get to other tables. Overall, this place is always busy so that's a great sign, in addition the staff are all really nice. May have ordered the wrong things but we thought the food was good but nothing extremely stood out to say it tasted spectacular or out of this world. The overall atmosphere and experience may have played a slight impact.

Yelp
Solid place for Italian if you're in the area. Friendly and attentive staff. It was busy on a Monday evening but we went on Dec 23rd so it was right before Xmas. The food was just ok. It hit the spot for us that evening as we were craving Italian but it wasn't bad at all! In comparison to other authentic Italian restaurants, we have had better for sure. But it's a great neighbourhood spot so I recommend if you're wanting some Italian flare. We didn't try the pizza but they have a brick oven and our family who lives in the area said their pizza is also a good option.

Yelp
There are metered parking spots and limited free parking spots around this restaurant. It can be a challenge to find parking around this restaurant during lunch and dinner peak hours . This restaurant offers outdoor and indoor dining. We opted for indoor dining. We were greeted by a friendly waiter upon entering the restaurant. We ordered the fried calamari with artichokes, chicken parmesan, salmon, linguine pescatora, and linguine con Voegele. The fried calamari with artichokes were crispy and crunchy. The chicken was juicy and tender. The salmon was moist and the fresh veggies and mashed potatoes paired well with the meal. The pasta was cooked al dente and they were generous with the seafood. We'll be back to try their pizzas and homemade Pappardelle Pasta.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Monday. Had the special of the day Prawn and Mushroom Risotto. It was just okay. I was super hungry for lunch and this comfort food drew me in from the Specials Ad outside.

Yelp
Have been here many times and the service is always top notch. The pizzas are all delicious and while I haven't tried as many, the pastas are all pretty good too. I recommend the gnocchi with red sauce and the san daniele pizza. The nutellina dessert is also a must--the dough is their pizza dough and it's served when plenty of whipped cream. Wine selection is decent. My only commentary is that the takeout pizza can end up a little soggy since it is so thin, and I also wish they would change up their menu more. I appreciate the occasional specials but making the menu seasonal would make it all the better. Speaking of specials--order the squash blossoms if they're available.

Yelp
Great place for Italian food. First time coming here. They are known for pasta and pizzas. Had their lasagna which was pretty good. Cost was $24. A littler pricy. Decent size and enough of meat. Friendly staffs. Since it wasn't super busy when i came, they brought out food fairly quick. Don't mind coming back here again.

Yelp
We feel so lucky to have had Trattoria da Vittorio cater our wedding! The food was absolutely phenomenal--our guests are still raving about the fiochetti pasta and the sausage ragù. Vittorio himself was a joy to work with: warm, accommodating, and incredibly generous throughout the entire process. He welcomed us into his amazing restaurant for a tasting that felt more like a celebratory dinner than a formal event (we'll definitely be back), and went out of his way to accommodate our guests with dietary restrictions. He even surprised us by offering to make custom shirts in our wedding colors--such a fun and personal touch that truly went above and beyond. On top of all that, the pricing was very competitive and the entire experience felt more joyful and authentic than anything we saw from other caterers. We couldn't recommend them more highly--thank you, Vittorio!

Yelp
Service was great! And cute space too. Downside was the food was just ok. The calamari was way under seasoned, and my pizza wasn't great. The crust was slightly off-tasting, and I couldn't figure out why at the time. My lunch mates didn't really like their pizzas either. I figured out why the next day when I ate the leftovers cold: it tasted like the cleaner restaurants use to clean their tables got into the dough. Wound up throwing all the leftovers away after two bites.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Food... not my favorite. Carrots were good. Salad taste like straight vinegar. Meat was tough.

Yelp
The food - classic Italian food - you want a nice meal without having to go all the way downtown and you live west of Twin Peaks, this place is a great place to dine. Great service and the food is good. Can't go wrong! Give yourself a little extra time to find parking. That is the only headache. Otherwise enjoy the pasta! We loved everything we ordered. My favorite was the zabaglione dessert.

Yelp
Date: Friday, March 29th, 2024 Party of: 4 adults, 1 baby Meal: Birthday Dinner Time Seated: around 7pm Wait Time: about 20 mins *Bruschetta combination for 2, prosciutto, artichokes, salmon, tomatoes, 'nduja ($20) *Caprese con Burrata, tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil, balsamic reduction ($20) *Insalata Cesare con anchovies, croutons, parmigiano cheese ($12) *Fried Calamari and organic artichokes with homemade tartar and marinara sauce ($20) *Handmade Porcini Mushroom Ravioli with black truffle cream sauce ($24) *Linguine Pescatora, mixed seafood in a light tomato sauce ($32) *Homemade Pappardelle pasta with Ox-Tail ragu' ($26) *New York Steak, grilled olive oil herbs sauce with arugula salad parmigiano cheese: M Rare ($34) *Homemade Creme Brulee' Cheesecake ($12) *Affogato al caffe: Vanilla gelato + espresso ($12) *Mamma's Tiramisu ($12) *10 years Sandeman Port ($14) *20 years Sandeman Port ($16) *Espresso ($3) *Sprite ($3) *Diet Coke ($3) *Corkage Fee ($20) x2 For a friend's bday dinner, he picked this resto. Since they don't take reservations, we waited at Starbucks after he put our party in. The wait wasn't too bad and luckily there was room for a stroller since we had a baby. Favs by far were the mushroom ravioli, burrata, and salad. The ravioli was creamy and comforting. The truffle added a nice decadence. I'm a burrata fiend so I adored that. And the caesar had actual anchovy on it. Yum! I just wish there was pepper on the table since I like A LOT of pepper on my salads. It was busy, so I held back. Service was fine for a small mom and pop type place. Quick and to the point. Tho they were very sweet when I mentioned it was my friend's bday. Ended up comping the tiramisu. And I didn't see the espresso on our bill either. Nice place to grab some Italian food in West Portal.

Yelp
This place was BUSY on a Friday night but my husband and I were able to get bar seating. It was a little tight where we sat and every now and then the serve would pop his head from the side to check in on us. The food came out fairly quick but I just wish it tasted good... I wouldn't call this place authentic but I think they try haha. [Pizza] It was a little burnt and pretty watery...probably from the tomato sauce. After awhile, the crust unfortunately got soggy. Overall, it was a decent size but pretty underwhelming. [Seafood Linguine] The portion was biiiiig but the flavor wasn't. It was bland (not enough salt) but with a fishy taste. The linguine was overdone and the seafood was okay but not the freshest. Some of the clams were questionable so I don't think they were super fresh. Seafood consisted of clams, shrimp, calamari, and salmon. Even if I added salt, it doesn't take the fishiness or soft noodles away. [Wine] Generous pours! But...it was just okay and a little warm. [Aperol Spritz] Again, a pretty nice size! These are pretty simple to make but mine was just okay. I'm not sure if they use prosecco but it was a little flat and the flavor wasn't quite there. Overall, I'm glad we tried this place out. It looked like a West Portal neighborhood favorite buuuut I'm pretty sure we won't be back.

Yelp
We just had them cater our wedding party and honestly it was the most enjoyable experience- communication was excellent , delivery was prompt and the food was just amazing. Everyone raved about it and there was not one crumb left. We were so happy as getting someone to work with our budget in the city wasn't successful up to that point and they were simple wonderful and couldn't have asked for a better caterer! We had 60 people buffet style and if we ever do anything again they will be the first point of contact!

Yelp
Just a very classic old school Italian restaurant. It is a little on the pricey side, but the portions are there. For starters, I ordered the fried calamari with artichokes. I did enjoy the light batter and crisp but I felt it was a little under seasoned and needed the sauce to coat it. For the main I ordered the pasta with clams and zucchini. The portion itself was pretty big, came with a lot of clams which was a big bonus but in my opinion it was under seasoned. Pasta and clams were cooked well, the flavors in itself lacked a kick that could have brought it over the top. Overall good experience, would come back and possibly try other dishes.

Yelp
IMHO We brought my father-in-law to celebrate his 99th birthday! Trattoria is close to his home, so it was a perfect choice. We were genuinely greeted at the door and shown to a nice corner table in the back for our party of 5. We started with wine, calamari appetizer and a Carnivora pizza! Wow, these hot appetizers hit the spot! Super delicious and came out uber fast! Our entrees for the night were Porcini mushroom ravioli, $24, Branzino grilled seabass, $32, Petrale Sole Piccata, $32, Beef boneless Short ribs, $34, Pappardelle pasta with oxtail ragu, $26. Everything was so flavorful and served hot (which is very important to me!) For dessert, we enjoyed Mama's Tiramisu, Nutellino (baked Nutella Calzone), and Affogato al caffe. The staff brought a complimentary tiramisu served on a wooden bread board with "Happy birthday" written in chocolate, for my father-in-law, and the kind staff serenaded him! What a lovely gesture and we gratefully appreciated it! Thank you, Trattoria da Vittorio! We will definitely return!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I will not be going back. They microwave their food. The meatballs were cold and the spaghetti came out piping hot which I know was microwaved. That is not the first time that I've noticed that I don't like that. If you're going to be a real Italian food place, you should not be microwaving your food at all. I can go home and microwave food all day long. I definitely will be looking for a better Italian place that does not microwave their food.

Yelp
Trattoria da Vittorio provided the most delicious food and amazing catering service for our wedding! I have worked with Vittorio on an event before, and there really had been no question as to who we would ask to cater our wedding in San Francisco. We met with Vittorio about six months before and did a full tasting. He comes to the table with excellent recommendations and he made it so easy for us to settle on a menu. On top of all of this, he provided servers, a bartender, linens, champagne glasses, and extraordinary service leading up to and on our special day. When the wedding day finally arrived, we did not have to worry about a thing because he - alongside his amazing staff - took care of everything. They are the complete package and the next time I need to host an event, they will be the first caterer that I call. I need to rave about the food as well. We had three different passed appetizers (bruschette, meatballs, caprese skewers), four mains for the buffet (short ribs, lasagne, chicken piccata, fiochette pasta), caesar salad, mixed vegetables, bread, and for dessert tiramisu and profiterols. Talk about an amazing spread! Our guests were blown away and raved about how delicious everything was. San Francisco locals now plan to visit the restaurant! Again, I cannot recommend Trattoria da Vittorio enough. Outstanding food and incredible service. Not to mention kind and friendly owners and servers. We will be customers for life.

Yelp
Went to Trattoria da Vittorio to meet up with a couple of girlfriends for dinner, and it was busy. We arrived at about 5pm and had to wait for about 20-30 minutes for a table. We ordered quite a bit, and every dish was good. They mistakenly brought a polenta with gorgonzola mushroom cream sauce dish that we did not order but insisted we keep it anyway. That was my favorite dish! The charcuterie board was served with the baked pizza dough - yum! Crispy Brussel sprouts, Margherita pizza, and porcini stuffed ravioli. All were great! Service was excellent in that he checked on us often and kept our glasses filled. He even brought us a complimentary tiramisu. Don't know why I didn't try this place sooner. I'm definitely returning!

Yelp
Birthday celebration and granddaughter wanted Italian so she picked Trattoria. They do not take reservations so decided to meet at 5 pm for early Sunday dinner. Luckily we got the last table for 6 and was seated and did not have to wait. Seems to be a popular neighborhood restaurant. It got crowded and people were waiting outside in the cold. We enjoyed the complementary bread with olive oil and asked for balsamic vinegar. Started with appetizers of Fried Calamari and Brussel Sprouts. Each of us ordered a different entree so we could sample. We had Capricciosa Pizza, Pesto Ravioli, Calabrese Rigatoni, Linguine Vongole, Pasta Ox-tail and Porcini Ravioli. All dishes were very good. Restaurant is a beautiful cozy space and service was excellent.

Yelp
Trattoria da Vittorio is a perfect spot for a dinner date. The restaurant itself is a beautiful and cozy space, with plenty of seating and plenty of customers. The service was extremely efficient for the volume of diners--definitely the fastest Italian restaurant I've ever eaten in. It must have contributed to our nonexistent wait time; we were seated immediately! For appetizers we got calamari and beet salad, both of which were great with the complementary bread and olive oil. The calamari was our favorite item that we ordered: it was lightly fried and delicious with the zingy tartar sauce (the marinara dipping sauce was just okay, I would ask to swap it out for a second tartar sauce instead next time). The addition of fried artichokes to the dish was a pleasant and tasty surprise. And the beet, arugula, and goat cheese salad with lemon dressing (one of my favorite kinds of salads) was a delectable accompaniment to whet our appetites for the main courses. The capricciosa pizza was good, but not the best choice made. On the bottom it was a bit soggy, and overall didn't make too big of a splash. The rigatoni calabrese, however, with spicy sausage and 'nduja (adding a twang of spice), tomato sauce (lots of it, which I love), and a pat of burrata cheese on top (gooey and melty), was spectacular. Super flavorful, and an al dente texture. Yum.

Yelp
My dad decided that he wanted to go out for Valentine's Day, so I crossed my fingers and hoped I picked a good neighborhood spot that would seat us and we were successful! Trattoria is large and spacious, which makes it a good place to walk in! The owner (?) at the door was really sweet and prompt in seating us. There was something about the way in how he moved that made me feel like I was back in Italy. I was seated next to the pizza oven, which was really tempting, but I definitely wanted some thing more saucy so I asked the server if he would recommend the lasagna or the porcini mushroom ravioli. He recommended the lasagna, and I was charged for the lasagna, and I had asked if I received the lasagna and got an affirmation, but I must say I'm still not sure if I got a lasagna as it looked like a ravioli. It's been a couple days and I'm still not sure how I feel about that. My dad and I started off by sharing an insalata mista (mixed salad), which I found refreshing and quite a large portion. They were generous with the Italian dressing which was really hitting the spot. We also shared the calamari which was lightly breaded but still quite crisp! I'm a break your teeth kinda crunchy girl, but this was much better for dining with a senior as he got his crunch (and let's be real, I'm a minority for wanting it that crispy). The calamari was mostly rings with a few tentacles and a couple pieces of what we thought were sweet potato, but in consulting the menu, was artichoke! The pair worked today well and we both preferred the tartar sauce with them. My dad got the New York strip medium, which was over cooked for my tastes but he seemed to enjoy it. The cut was thick, which was nice. And it came with a pretty generous side salad! We also ordered a glass of the montepulciano, which was poured generously (I had a sip for taste as I was driving and safety first!). I ordered this wine for my dad as he's not as familiar with Italian wines and I personally find the montepulciano an easy wine that pairs well with most carbs.

Yelp
The search for a caterer for our wedding was stressful and tough. Majority of the places we contacted either were unavailable for our wedding day or would charge us upward $150 just to taste test the food that was mediocre and unimpressive. I was at my wits end with finding a good caterer until my now husband started to expand our search for caterer into SF area and Trattoria da Vittorio popped up on our radar. I believe everything happens for a reason and THANK GOODNESS we found Vittorio because he is such an amazing person. Vittorio is fair on pricing with us, very kind, and beyond helpful to us during a stressful time. First off, we were offered a complimentary food tasting event at the restaurant and Vittorio was super generous with the offering. He served us so many different appetizers and entrees. Even insisted to pair his food with wine so that we get the full experience. The food was BEYOND delicious too. I don't think I've ever been to an Italian restaurant that hand makes ravioli and fiochetti as well as Vittorio and his team. I can really tell that Vittorio is passionate about Italian food and really cares about the quality. On the day of our wedding, Vittorio took care of everything and made my wedding a dream come true. He and his team even step up when our coordinators were lacking in their role. From helping with serving food, bussing tables to ending the night by cutting our cakes to serve to guests and cleaning up the tables... Vittorio amazes me with his customer service skill as well as compassion for us, the newly weds. It's been 5 days since our wedding and our family and friends still talk about how amazing the food at our wedding was! We served the ravioli, fiochetti, chicken in lemon capers sauce, and braised short ribs during the main course. The ravioli was made with black truffle and it was fragrant, tender, and just the right amount of creaminess. The fiochetti was firm yet soft, bursting with flavor of Italian cheese and pear. The chicken cooked in lemon capers sauce was not too sour nor tough. And the braised short ribs MELTED in our mouths. It was filled with flavor and I could tell was stewed and simmered for a very long time to give it such tenderness. To top it all off, Vittorio also made us a cannoli tower. I've gained 5 lbs alone eating the cannoli. It's the perfect ratio of filling to pastry. I can go on and on about Vittorio! We will definitely be recommending to all of our family and friends. As well as coming by to dine at the restaurant every year on our wedding anniversary or whenever we are in SF area :)

Yelp
Very good Italian cuisine, with lots of options for wood-oven thin crust baked pizzas, pastas, appetizers and drinks, in a nice & relaxing environment whether you choose to sit indoors, on the patio or the parklet. Consistently delicious, reasonable prices, and good service. I've been here a number of times and I am always pleased. Today we shared the brussel sprouts appetizer which is served with buttery melted cheese and thinly cut taro chips. We also had the clams with linguine which came with a generous amount of clams. The bruschetta sampler came in a very generous amount, with so many different types. We also shared the Marguerite pizza with sliced meatballs, also very good. The pizza was so big that we were only able to finish half of it. Decent wine list. Parking in this area of West Portal is never a problem for me.

Yelp
Family friendly classic Italian joint. Big portions, fresh ingredients, prepared well. Ate here with my twin boys and they loved the mickey mouse pizza--such a cute idea! Staff were super friendly and attentive, love a place happy to see kids instead of groaning. Buffalo mozz caprese, cheesey garlic bread, eggplant parm were all fantastic. Flavors were fresh and simple. Eggplant parm was perfection, roasted instead of fried and eggplant was all melt in your mouth. This can be a dangerously heavy dish and I loved that this one wasn't, no 2am heartburn for me. Layering it on top of the crunchy garlic bread was the best decision I made all day. My husband had veal milanese, horrifying yes, but it's his go to and he gave it high marks. Large portions, perfectly fried. The place was full on a Sunday night and had a warm cozy atmosphere, several older patrons were smiling at my kids and an older gentleman stopped by to compliment my beautiful family. Just like the old country! Nice to have such a warm welcoming place to stuff our faces. Ooh and the caramel gelato was bomb. I kept adding spoonfuls of it my frothy cappuccino. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
What a wonderful restaurant. The service was spot on. The food was very good. I have a food allergy and they were able to make a dish that had no dairy. I couldn't be happier.

Yelp
Highly recommend this restaurant! The food and service was great and the ambiance was nice too. They offer both outdoor and indoor seating and it's a decent sized restaurant too. Went on a Friday night, arrived at 6pm but waited about 30 mins for an indoor table (no wait for outdoor though). My group ordered 3 things and all were amazing! We got the Bella Pizza, Linguine Con Vongole, and the Homemade Pappardelle pasta with oxtail ragu. All the dishes were so flavorful and tasted so fresh. Only thing was that this place is a little more on the pricey side, but aside from that everything was amazing. Would come back again!

Yelp
The catering service from here was top notch! During cocktail hour, we started off with passed hors d'oeuvres, including smoked salmon and prosciutto crostini, meatballs with marinara sauce, and mozzarella with balsamic vinaigrette. For dinner, they set up an amazing buffet with beet and arugula salad, fresh bread, pesto pasta, braised short rib, fish, and eggplant parmesan. They gave very generous portions and we were able to go back for seconds as well.

Yelp
We put our trust in Vittorio and his team to cater our wedding, and they surpassed every expectation. From the moment we met Vittorio at his restaurant for a tasting, he treated us with care and love -- the same quality he brings to his food. He was up front with his fair pricing, and throughout the tasting worked with us to craft a menu that was tailored to our tastes and wedding vibe. On the day of the wedding, everything went smoothly, with Vittorio and his team running the show with ease. Particular favorites were: eggplant parmigiana, fiocchetti, mushroom ravioli, braised short ribs, and the tiramisu. But truly, everything was superb. We are now a month past our wedding, and friends and family still bring up how amazing the food was. Selfishly I've been to a dozen weddings in my life, and have no shame in saying that my wedding had the best food. Thank you Vittorio, we can't recommend you enough!

Yelp
First time here and wish I could give 10 stars for everything!. Entered on a whim after the first place we planned to go ended up being a big fail. This is definitely a family friendly restaurant that offers superb service & makes sure customers are happy. The server made sure to check on us several times and didn't keep us hanging around. We sat down, ordered and received our food in a very timely fashion. Everything tasted great. Portion size is perfect, we ended up with leftovers and couldn't finish everything. I will definitely be back with my friends so they can try this place out too. I'm sure they will love it just as much as I did.

Yelp
Trattoria da Vittorio has always been the pizza place for my kids. They love the freshness and the quality of their Margherita pizza. Most of the time we order delivery because we no longer live in SF. Today, we ordered two Margherita pizzas but they were burnt. So, it looks like someone is not paying attention to quality anymore. I always expect a little burn here and there because of the pizza oven that makes them crispy, but this time we had to cut pieces of the areas that were still edible.

Yelp
My first time visiting Italian restaurant not finishing a single dish, and hating the whole experience. We ordered pizza with meatballs since everything else has pork in it; Caesar salad with chicken and caprice salad. The only thing that tasted semi good was the caprise salad and the pizza after we removed the meatballs. The chicken on the Caesar was horrible no salt, no spices, it was bland! It tasted like a week old meat that was just put in a microwave to be reheated. Service was worse than the food itself. The waiters were rude, trying to rush us out when we clearly were struggling with the menu. Overall very disappointing

Yelp
I catered my fathers celebration of life with Trattoria da Vittorio. First of all the food was amazing. We had the lasagna, rigatoni pesto, lemon chicken, ceasar salad and finished it off with teramisu and coffee. The lasagna and pesto were absolutely incredible and the teramisu was possibly the best I ever had. The service was top notch. Absolutely perfect. They handled everything politely and professionally. For example, we had a spill on one of the tables just before everyone was seated and the crew reset the table with a clean table cloth in about two minutes. I am so happy I chose Vittorio for my father's event.

Yelp
Came with a group after this place was showcased on Check Please. So the anticipation was high. Tried most of the specials and the experience was only ok. Food: Crab cioppino (4/5): seafood (clams, salmon) was fresh. The crab might have been pre-frozen but the flavor was there. Pork chop stuffed with prosciutto and cheese (2/5): This one was a miss. The pork chop was dry and overcooked and a bit on the sweet side. Almost no cheese and the prosciutto was more a thick ham. We barely touched this dish. Shiitake risotto (3/5): good flavor but way too salty. Wine (5/5): generous pours. :) Service: my server was really sweet and kind and service was fast when I asked for something. Only thing that threw me off were the staff were standing around and chatting with each other so sometimes it took time to grab their attention. Not sure if I will be back.

Yelp
We can't recommend Trattoria Da Vittorio highly enough for couples who are passionate about food and want to share that love with their wedding guests. Vittorio and his team were an absolute joy to work with--kind, professional, and a true highlight of our day. The food was absolutely delicious and brought so much warmth and joy to our celebration. Their passion and expertise helped make our wedding everything we dreamed of. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat for any future event. If you're looking for an incredible caterer who truly cares and makes the planning process seamless, Vittorio is the one.

Yelp
Came in today for dinner (Mon) and it was so busy! They had a 20 person reservation but a ton of walk ins too which means it's a good sign. I ordered the burrata with melon and prosciutto which was a great start to my meal. My friend and I then ordered 3 pastas to share. The mushroom ravioli was so flavorful and full of truffle i think. The vongole pasta was delicious and even better with crushed red pepper. The bucatini was light and not overly seasoned. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
When you see a restaurant with almost 5 stars and 1k reviews you have high expectations and this did not disappoint. Service was friendly and we got everything taken care of in a quick fashion The food was truly amazing. We got the homemade pasta with oxtail ragu and margherita pizza. Both were on point. Portion sizes were decent, not too big and not too small. I feel like sometimes brick oven pizza can be burnt easy but this was cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh and came out quick. Definitely will be going back next time I'm in town

Yelp
Used to come to this place when it was a different restaurant, but Trattoria da Vittorio is good enough to fit in its footsteps! My friend and I stopped by for a relatively early dinner (6:30) and it was already jam packed. We would've preferred an inside table, but they were all taken, so we sat at one of the outside tables. With the heat lamp, it was relatively warm enough; the only part left in the cold were our legs, but we managed! My friend had the eggplant parmigiana ($24) and I had the homemade pappardelle pasta with the oxtail ragu ($26). My friend's eggplant parmigiana was a huge serving and she said it was very good. My pappardelle pasta was a very rich and large serving, enough for that evening's dinner and lunch the next day. I was very happy with my choice, but it didn't have that "wow" factor for me. I think the richness of the pasta called for something to cut it... maybe I should've ordered a side salad or something light to balance it. I thought I took pictures of both the eggplant parmigiana and my pasta, but, for the life of me, I can't find them!! I do have pictures of the menu and front of the restaurant, though! Worth a stop!
