Trattoria del Cimino da Colombo dal 1895

"Situated on the hill leading to Palazzo Farnese, this restaurant occupies the oldest building in the village, which dates back to 1370. Since 1940, the Calistri family have been delighting their guests with delicious specialities from Lazio, including excellent cured hams, fresh pasta (the amatriciana is particularly renowned), grilled meats and an impressive selection of cheeses and desserts. Excellent wines and spirits complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

We had so much fun here! AMAZING food, informal atmosphere, and helpful staff that knows their wines :))) We stumbled upon this spot when looking for a dinner place, and got the best food during our all roadtrip through Lazio and Umbria. Excellent ingredients, seasonal menu, and pici amatriciana to kill for🥰 Place is rather cozy with their dimmed lights, so food pictures dont do justice to the whole experience.Hidden gem, worth a detour

Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday whilst en route from Orvieto to Fiumicino airport. First of all, call ahead to book a table - it was packed and I'm glad we'd reserved a seat on the outdoor terrace. The food is excellent; we went for an antipasti board with local meat and cheese, a couple of pastas (rabbit and beef) and then a hazelnut cake for dessert. The antipasti also came with some ragu and tuscan beans on bread which were all delicious. The pasta dishes were excellent - lovely al dente pasta and excellent, rich ragu. The cake was superb - lots of nuts with just enough cake to hold it together, the sauce (kind of an enriched custard) was delicious. A nice bottle of Vermentino was about 25 EUR. All in all, a superb trattoria with excellent food and a great place to stop. The drive between Orvieto and Rome was also lovely and made the trip home much better than stopping on the autostrada and eating some bad food before catching a flight!

Incredibly beautiful restaurant with decent prices and the best Amatriciana I ever tasted. 100% recommend! Restaurant is in the basement, not super adapted for wheelchairs except if light enough to be lifted (the waiters kindly helped lifting a man downstairs while we were there).

There are a handful of restaurants along the main drag in Caprarola and this wasn't my first choice but given that my first choice was fully booked this is where my wife and I ended up and I'm glad we did. The food is fabulous, dishes are local and original, service is superb and the interior is a perfect encore after visiting Palazzo Farnese. If it was closer to home I would be a regular but as it isn't I will settle for the wonderful culinary memories. Bravo.

I dined here yesterday, after visiting the extraordinary Palazzo Farnese, and it was something of a worthy follow up. The space is beautiful and the service is warm and attentive. Every moment of the experience has been crafted toward enjoyable dining. I have rarely been to a restaurant where I literally wanted to order everything on the menu - but that is how I felt toward their Seasonal Menu. I worked with Samuele on a preferred approach and truly every dish and every bite were truly enjoyable and wholly delicious. I would visit beautiful Caprarola again just to dine at this very special trattoria. Grazie mille.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local and we really glad we listened. Sommelier is very knowledgable and selection of wine is very unique. Food was very good, pasta handmade and marinated eggplant was made by nonna. Amatriciana is as good as advertised. Dessert is delicious. Slow food and KM0 are fully embraced here. Highly recommend it.

Delicious home made pastas. Be aware that they have a cover charge (coperto) of 2 euro per person.
