"It’s not just the affordable prices that will keep you coming back here, as the real highlight is its flavourful Emilian cuisine, which has been given a fresh, more modern twist. Among the first courses, we can recommend the tortellini in chicken broth or with a 24-month Parmesan cream; and for the main course, a delicious tripe with bread croutons. The Lambrusco is a must on the wine list here (we can recommend a good Grasparossa di Castelvetro). In the summer, meals are served outdoors on the small Piazza della Pomposa." - Michelin Inspector

An authentic Italian home-cooked meal, quality food and friendly service. It's places like this that remind us why we love Italian cuisine - the respect for the cuisine, quality of the ingredients, despite the fact that we were the only ones in the restaurant. The menu is small but well curated - try the tortellini with parmesan and the gnocco fritto selection. We also got the pork roast with potatoes - so succulent and the crispy potatoes soaked in pork fat were perfection. The server engaged us in conversation about the different cheeses from the region, and helped us select an excellent wine of good value. Overall a wonderful experience, and a shame it wasn't packed.

This little Trattoria was amazing the Food was outstanding Lasagna just Wow and the Ragu perfection. But what made it even better was Deborah who I believe is the manager or maybe part owner. She was a delight serving us and sent me some of their amazing recipes. Plus the chef has his own cookbook and sister restaurant which I believe has a Michelin Star? We were staying at Casa Maria Luigia and were eating there one night (AMAZING) and I asked them where would you go if you were with your family and they sent us to Trattoria Pomposa. And we’re so happy they did. Go to both of these amazing spots in Modena. You will not be disappointed

This is a michelin guide restaurant located inside of the old town Modena. Reservation highly recommended as it's michelin guide and affordable pricing, it offers variety of traditional Emilian cuisine. the interior is cute, with pictures on the wall and all kinds of pots and pans hanging on the wall, feels like you step into some grandma's kitchen. i had Gramigna with sausage that only cost 9euro , it's wheat pasta so it has a bit texture and chewy. but it's really my favorite for the main course i tried the "Il Bollito" (5 cuts) and its sauces: chicken leg, cotechino pig's trotter sausage and beef tongue. highly recommend if you want to a taste of everything. the beef tongue are thick cut but really juicy and tender. my favorite is cotechino, which is a type of sausage only available in this region that uses pig trotter meat and skin , it's full of collagen. the checkin leg is the weak link in this dish , but overall very enjoyable.

Had a great experience here! The food and service were both excellent. It was actually less crowded than I expected for a Michelin-star spot, which was kind of nice. I think some people might’ve been turned off by old reviews, but honestly, we’re really glad we went. Every dish we tried was awesome — the eggplant meatballs (kind of a fun twist on eggplant parm) were a highlight, and the tortelloni was one of my favorite pastas of our whole trip. Loved that it was quiet enough to actually relax and enjoy the food.

Visiting from New Zealand. Amazing service from the waiter Francesco. Impressed with the selection of food and wine including regional rarities like calzagatti. Fresh pasta delightful. Outdoor seating within a secluded town square. Will go back.

Sadly this was the worst meal I had during my entire two week trip to Italy. I don’t understand how this spot made it on the Michelin recommended list. Service was awful from start to finish even though we were the only customers there for lunch. I ordered the ragu tagliatelle and my husband ordered the gramigna. Both came out cold and lacked in flavor. About three bites in, I felt like I was chewing on a small foreign object and pulled out a little piece of plastic similar to cling wrap. I’m sure it was a mistake but when I notified the waiter and showed him, he just shrugged it off and walked away. No apology or offer to replace it or even take my plate away. The hostess in the front was just as dismissive so we just paid in full and left disappointed. Silly me, here I am worried about microplastics when they’re straight up serving macroplastics in the food.

Seeing as this place is in the Michelin guide, I expected more. The pasta dishes were quite good, although the portions were on the smaller side. The pork medallions were quite hard and the potato pure just tasteless. Desserts were good. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but not what we had initially expected.

We loved the homey feel of this place and their food, while simple, was simply to die for. From the delicate tortellini in broth, the wonderful aubergine polpette, tripe cooked to perfection and pork scallopine, to their desserts, everything was perfection!!! Service and attention to detail was top notch.
