Traube

"Run with great dedication in the heart of the old Rohrbach district, this lovely traditional restaurant has a cosy interior featuring a blend of traditional and modern elements. Chef Ole Hake's ambitious dishes are made with carefully selected regional ingredients, for example excellent game. His commitment to sustainability is palpable. The seasonal seven-course set menu comes in an omnivore or vegan version. There is also a well-curated wine list with an emphasis on German labels. These can also be enjoyed in the wine bar with snacks or a light meal. Tip for motorists: the public car park at the nearby Thorax Clinic is convenient." - Michelin Inspector

I am from NYC and have had my fair share of fine dining experiences. What a wonderful surprise to find one of the best of these at this restaurant. While I did not love the bread and dips provided, everything got better from there. We had the spring menu. In particular, I liked the carpaccio with arugula etc. The ravioli was a marvel. Probably one of the best pastas that I have ever had. It made my taste buds sing! And the dessert with the correlation and rhubarb and white chocolate was the single best dessert I have ever had. One reviewer said to taste everything from each dish together on the fork. That was excellent advice. Run to this restaurant, but make sure to prepare for 4 hours and to come hungry. Finally, a shout out to the ladies who provided the consummate and personable and wonderfully warm service! They are gems and truly enhanced the experience.

Delicious culinary experience with regional game and fish with creative and artistic presentation. Waiters were extremely friendly and attentive. Located south side of Heidelberg in a historic timbered house. Choices with 3-course to 5-course menu. Greetings from kitchen with freshly baked bread and self made sausage and deer ham are wonderful surprises. Highly recommended to spend the evening with love ones.

You cannot be disappointed when coming to this restaurant. Perfect service and good food. The plates are really big but still you have place to try all and you have to: the starter, main dish and desert. They looks very beautiful and choice of teste so surprising like the strawberry gazpacho! The restaurant has also nice decor having to the regional elements. Try as well good local wins. Highly recommended!

Upmarket food and wine at a reasonable price, great for a special evening! The Traube offers a 3 or 5 course menu with / without matching wines. There are 3 or 4 dishes to choose from for each course and they have vegetarian and vegan options. The food is beautifully presented and has unusual touches - wild boar in a strawberry confiture, sheep's cheese camembert ice cream (fantastic!). Service was excellent, friendly and attentive.

Unfortunately it is not possible to order the course menu on the same day. The fish is very fresh, however the taste is a bit too light. The Käsespetzle tastes very good though. Was told that the waiting time might be long, but actually it was okay.

I've said it before and I keep it - the best restaurant in Heidelberg. The summer'22 menu one of the best that I've tried at Traube. Definitely this restaurant needs to be on everyone's list.

The experience of eating at Traube is similar to reading a good book or watching a good theater. It’s not about eating till getting full, nor sitting in a fancy restaurant and being overwhelmed by all the possible distractions around you, it’s about you and your senses. New tastes, textures and aromas, as well as new ingredients and flavors are what you can expect from this restaurant. First time we visited, I ordered vegan menu and the second time, the omnivorous. I loved both, but maybe the vegan better, since I can’t eat parts of game meats, such as heart. But the seafood was wonderful, so I might order the omni again! My favorite course of the menu was the dessert, and specially the whisky sorbet. Each menu costs 149 €, which is very reasonable considering all the extra intermediate and greetings/thank you courses being served. The owners are very lovely, sincere and hospitable! I recommend Traube to anyone who appreciates good food and can’t wait to visit again soon!
