Travel Town Gift Shop

It is a nice place to bring your children if they are interested in trains. The visit is quickly done. I won’t recommend to ride the train there, you and your children will have a better experience to next door at the Walt Disney. The place was a bit sad because not much things to see or do.

Travel Town is so fun! We loved getting to walk through the train engines and cars! We were moving at a leisurely pace and saw everything in 2.5-3 hours. We were there on a Saturday and people were giving tours of the train they are working on restoring. They also have a miniature train to ride. $3.50 for adults and $3 for children. It goes around the perimeter of Travel Town twice. Parking is free. Admission is free. They request donations. You are welcome to bring your own food into the area to picnic with the trains.

Cool little park/musuem. Great for kids birthdays/get togethers. The cars can be rented and are affordable ( 150 after getting your deposit back). They have a fridge and has air conditioning inside. Lots of trains to look at with a cute train ride that goes around the park. Only down side is there isn't any trains you can really climb which is all the kids want to do.

This place was so much fun to the kids! Even the surprise, that the admission was for free. You can discover a few of the trains and they also have a gift shop, picknick spots, miniature train ride and a lot more.

It's a cute little place to bring the kids and hang out :) The only downer :( is that you can't climb any of the trains, and that's what the kids look forward to doing. Other than really nice :)

This place is free but if you want to ride it will cost you about 3$ each. Reasonable price. The trains are old and awesome to see. They are huge and you can go in few of them. The place is crowded with artists but it is okay. Lots of family come this place which is great if you have kids. There is place to have picnic and you can organize party. The parking is big and free.

Awesome place... definitely hidden gem. Great for families and little kids. Great for photoshoot and picnic. Free!!! What’s free in LA? I highly recommend this place, especially if you have little kids who love trains, or if you love trains!

Very good spot if you are travelling with young kids. They have a large collection of old trains, you can approach them and even get inside. The place also features a few interesting exhibits. There are a few tables inside to you can picnic there. The only inconvenience is that it's close to the highway to it's always a bit noisy

Had fun shopping here from Travel Town Museum gift shop. Staff were informative about the events on site. The gift shop was playing 'The Polar Express,' movie for shoppers to enjoy while browsing their merchandise. I stocked up on all the designs of their post cards. The gift shop sign was easily visible, so it wasn't hard to find but the pink train display was hard to locate. Ok. Unfortunately, I Had to go along with what everyone else wrote: I wished the gift shop provided a better quality paper bag instead of a lunch bag. I asked but they had to charge extra. This would just be a one time visit for me.

A small gift shop with limited items. They do, however, have a variety of toys for kids. They have books, wooden trains, small plastic ones.. They have a cool little pin selection and these nice plate sets. I wish I had to look more into them because they were actually cute. They have snacks, drinks, and candies.

Look, it's kind of expensive, but I think you can consider that you are contributing to preserving and celebrating a history of locomotive travel in LA, California and the USA. It's mostly tchotchke, which is fun! I wish there were some better swag so I could rep travel town on something like a shop tee or a cool looking hat.

Located inside Travel Town in Burbank, this is a outstanding train store, it has all your toy train needs, perfect for kids and toddlers. They don't sell advanced train toys, like models or electronic trains. This shop sells more simple toys like die-cast, plastic and wooden toys and whistles. This is a great local gem that's often missed. If you like toy trains you must visit this store. It's small, maybe a ten foot by twenty foot store.. but has a lot. They also sell snacks, candy, ice cream, drinks and Travel Town Museum items. Bathrooms are located a few feet away outside of store. They have a ramp available for strollers or wagons or for wheelchairs. You can park your stroller or wagon in the designated spots in front. The pricing of most items are mediocre and most overpriced. They do have a large selection of Thomas The Train toys and some Mickey mouse items. I do recommend this store is you are visiting Travel Town Museum, great way to get out for the heat, fun little store and great for kids.

I feared the worst going into this gift shop. My toddler sons are little train addicts. I step on toy trains in the middle of the night. When I roll over in bed trains poke me in the eye, the ones they take with them to go nye nye. Our weekends include a trip to the Southern Nevada Railway, which ends in a new toy train (or 2) each. If there is a monorail, tram or trolly anywhere it is mandatory that they get to ride "The t'wain, the t'waaaaiiin!" So naturally any trip to southern Cali owes a stop at the Griffith Park trains. Travel Town gift shop has the most concentrated collection of train related wares I have ever seen stocked into a tiny 10 x 20 store. It's really small. Surely, I imagined our vacation taking a heavy detrimental financial blow to the wallet. Especially after Yelping up on it's previous reviews. You will find small wooden trains, regular die-cast trains, books, shirts, hoodies, overalls, whistles, posters and the whole shi-bang. The place is packed with choo choo's everywhere! If you farted in there, a toy train would fall off the rack. No model scale HO or Lionel sets for sale though. Absolutely no electric train track sets at all. Those are mandatory for a train shop, I think. To my relief, my 3 year old took a deep hard look at each side of the 2 isles and surrounding walls of Thomas etc. I imagined a crazed toddler with arms spilling over with numerous little $8.00 train toys. Luckily for me he was spying for which one was the one for him. It took bout 5 minutes of contemplation until he spotted the biggest toy displayed at the end window. After the words uttered "I want that one mommy!" A large scale battery powered steam engine was taken down from the display and he promptly took it over to the nice lady at the counter. I hastily turned the big box over to see what the damage would be, for the toy that all the kids wanted, but cheapo L.A. parents wouldn't buy for them lol j/k. Whew, only 25$! Hallelujah! I can swing that and oh boy did that buy a never ending smile that lasted all weekend long. "I love my t'wain daddy! Thank you!" That smile stayed on him even as I tucked him and his gigantic toy train into to bed. Thank you Travel Town Museum Gift Shop!

Let me give it to you straight. The good things about the gift shop are; their air conditioning and their free play of toys for your children to play with. That's it. Gift shops are supposed to be on the higher price range but are also suppose to offer items only found there- personalized/branded if you will. After scouring the shelves I didn't see anything that I couldn't get elsewhere except for one thing. Save your moolah on Thomas the Train items and buy them elsewhere. They jack up the prices. So instead, I bought my son a pull back die cast metal train. Sturdy, substantial, classic. Yes, just like they use to make them back in the day. It is his favorite toy to this day, even among his Thomas the Tank Engine toys.

We babysitted our friends kid who loves trains. She is always making the Choo Choo noises when she sees one. So inevitably we thought this would be the ideal place for her. It was. We had lots of fun. It's free to go in, and the small train ride is only a few dollars. Yes, the gift shop is a little pricey but I'm sure it is a way to help pay for the rest of the museum. Highly recommend for little ones that love trains.

$21 for a small Thomas The Train toy train, and a train table that costs nearly $700, i dont think so. I know gift shops are supposed to be expensive....but COME ON!!!

I absolutely love Travel Town. Cute little gem hidden from the rest of Griffith Park. I bring my nephew here all the time. I noticed a lot of negative reviews about the prices and how tiny the shop is. I agree the gift shop is some what small and the prices may seem high, but from what I've been told they are a non-profit and they are part of the foundation that restores the locomotives which costs a ton. So i can understand why items are expensive. They are also raising money to get a new gift shop. That being said I would rather spend my money where it goes to a good cause than to shop at a giant corporate place like toys r us or target where the prices are not that different. Employees are also part of the foundation and do not work for the city. They're sweet and know a thing or two about trains! I love the gift shop, Travel Town & LA!
