A new style of hotel/restaurant has come to SMA over the last decade. Hip, chic, modern is in. Often there will be art displayed or for sale on the ground floor. Lodging is the next level up and on the rooftop there will be an open air restaurant. Such is the case for Trazo 1810.
Liked: lovely views of the city and the churches. Novel dishes on the menu. My wife had the gnocchi and said it was great.
Could've been better: we had to be "announced" by the front desk before entering the restaurant. Say what? I thought we had one of the least desirable tables, located at the very top of the entrance stairs near the service desk. As our waiter explained, there are only two choices for a glass of wine available. There is a lengthy wine list, but apparently nearly all of these are only sold by the bottle. I did like the Tempranillo from Spain, which was sold by the glass. The music was either hip-hop or some other genre that I can't define. Didn't care for it.
Disliked: I ordered the pork cheek dish with Pepita sauce. While the food tasted good, I was shocked to find a stone about the size of a tooth on the plate buried in the sauce. Fortunately, I didn't break a tooth. I did mention it to our waiter who said he would take this up with the chef. Never heard another word from either of them about it. Inappropriate and very disappointing!
