Customer service is excellent. I have been coming to them since they were at the previous location. Mangonadas are great and delicious. Anyone complaining about the price should realize how expensive mangos and everything else is and they use real fruit so it is definitely worth every penny. I live about 30 minutes from them and have drove out here up to 3 days in a row. If that doesn't say something!

Agetha O

Google
Really amazing small place, the people are really nice. They speak Spanish & English. Amazing people. The mangonada & Elote really hita different, is really GOOD !

Damien Claudio

Google
It was our first time visiting this refresqueria and I was hooked from just the sample of the Arroz con Leche ice cream. I got one scoop of arroz con leche with the chocolate abuelita with a cup of the horchata — it was all so delicious! They have beautiful pieces of clothing, jewelry, and more from Mexico that you can also buy. It’s a great way to get beautiful flavors of Mexico

Maria Vianey

Google
We’re huge fans of their ice cream! It’s just like the ice cream from our hometown in Mexico. Convenient location and ample parking.

Howard

Google
cons: could have a better selection. you wouldn't know they served cold treats when you first walked in neutrals: small place doubling as a souvenier shop pros: manager is friendly, gives you a personable, homey feeling. price seemed reasonable.

Salena B.B.

Google
This is my favorite treat place in ALL of Houston! Great, friendly service with the best mangonadas. They also have handmade wares from Mexico and beautiful clothes. Come in and head to the counter for the ice cream!

Google
First time trying and I definitely will be back! The elote is so good, and I am really picky! You can definitely tell they put care into the way they prepare their food. My boyfriend got the lime nieve and it tasted so natural and refreshing! On top of the delicious treats, the owner is super sweet and made me feel so welcome!

We have been coming to Treats of Mexico for years, and let me tell you — this place is truly something special! The service is outstanding — the owners and staff are the most noble, humble, and genuinely kind people you’ll ever meet. They speak both English and Spanish, making everyone feel welcome. We actually live about an hour away, but every time we’re in the city, we always make time to stop by. That’s how amazing their treats are! Now that they’ve moved to a bigger location, it’s even better, they’ve added clothes, beautiful artesanías, and Mexican treats that are hard to find! This trip, we ordered: 🌽 Elote – hands down, the BEST elote I have ever had. 🥭 Agua fresca de mango – pure heaven! You can taste the real mango, and it’s so refreshing. 🥭 Mangonada – I’ve had plenty in my life, but this is without a doubt the best one ever! Real mangos, real mango ice cream (also made with real fruit!), and the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy. And a 🥭 Mango Ice cream cup- My daughter devoured her mango ice cream before I could even take a picture! Everything here is made with natural, fresh ingredients, and you can taste the difference in every bite. They have something for everyone, the prices are super reasonable considering the top-notch quality, and the atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming. I truly wish they had locations everywhere, because this is THE SPOT. If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in, you’ll thank me later! 💛

Yelp
Mangonada is very delicious, perfect for a hot day, they have it in small and large size. We got a large, enough to share for two, $8.66. It's a cute tiny little shop, they also have a variety of Mexican candies, ice cream, elote. If you are in the neighborhood (super close to U of H), stop by and grab a snack. There's also a antique shop and bakery next door.

Yelp
Small location but their snacks are delicious! Ice cream is home made and fresh with insane flavors! The service was great employee took care of us nicely and was super friendly!

Yelp
I had just eaten at Monchys tacos across the street and wanted to take my kids for some ice cream. Not a Baskin Robbins fan but a place called Treats of Mexico definitely sounds like my kind of place. This place doesn't have your average "vanilla" flavors. They have choices like chocolate abuelita, arroz con Leche, and the Concha sandwich. Its exactly what you think it is. Its a concha (Mexican pastry) with your flavor of ice cream inside the concha. I did try 3 flavors of ice cream. Chocolate abuelita, fresas con crema and galletas ( cookies and cream). Each scoop came with a wafer cookie that pairs with your ice cream. I love to support local establishments. Treats of Mexico is an awesome ,and affordable ice cream shop. Go pay them a visit and show some Htown love.

Yelp
I really liked the unique and authentic snacks available. It was small and cute. I had the elote which was ok, not the best or worst. The ice cream was fun to eat as they had creative flavors like rose and hot chocolate. I would go there again to show a friend a unique part of Houston and for the ice cream .

Mattison B.

Yelp
Such a friendly owner and the treats are delicious! Highly recommend!! He has a lot of fun candy options too.

Yelp
I don't normally write same-day reviews but I had to do this one. It was a particularly hot day today and my crew and I went to an event that required us standing in line in the heat for a couple hours. All I could think of was getting a cold, refreshing mangonada. I yelped it and found a Taste of Mexico. We almost missed it and had to drive around the building a couple times. When we found it I was so excited! We walked it and the inside was very assuming but also charming and filled with authentic Mexican clothing, sweets and trinkets. We requested three large Mangonadas. The man at the counter ran around the corner and came back in about 5mins, we paid and left. I couldn't wait to get in the car and tear into the beauty that was the Mangonada. It did not disappoint! So cold and refreshing. The sweet, salty and spicy flavors went together so well and it was the PERFECT treat for such a hot day. We'll be back.

Yelp
In love with this adorable little spot. Probably because it's basically a shop that sells my childhood. From the paleta payaso to the mazapan, Treats of Mexico had an amazing selection of, well, treats of Mexico! It's not all packaged goodies though. What brought me to Treats of Mexico was the concha ice cream sandwich. For a delicious, Houston heat-friendly version of an old breakfast classic, order your concha with coffee or chocolate abuelita flavored ice cream. I had mine with chocolate abuelita ice cream and it.was.awesome. If you like lighter flavors, they have other intriguing ice creams like rose petal, which sounds lovely. If you're not an ice cream person, have yourself a mangonada! Or maybe some chicharrones. The shop itself is little but adorable. Most of the interior is taken up by candies and toys and other delights. There are two tables outside and two inside. When I came in one of these was taken by a little girl studying. Pretty sure she was the owners' daughter. This place is clearly a family operation and it made my day to enjoy one of their delicious treats!

Yelp
We're from California and we lucky enough to find this gem. Picked up goodies for the road.

Yelp
Cute little shop in the East End that's been on my radar for far too long. I don't have much of a sweet tooth - as much as their frozen treats and candies of my childhood sound attractive... but what brought me in was their handmade facemasks imported from various parts of Mexico. I dropped in to show my support during Latinx Heritage Month, and also buy a gift for my mom (and myself). When I dropped in, they were under renovation with plans to expand to the adjacent suite. Best wishes on the expansion. I'll pop in the next time I'm craving a paleta, dulces, or ice cream concha!

Yelp
My first time having a conchas, and also my first time having chips with corn, cheese, and hot sauce. They were both delicious, and I will definitely come back. The staff was really nice, they speak English and Spanish, they also offered to let me sample the ice cream. They make their own ice cream and salsas. Cute little store, outdoor seating only.
google avatar

Holly H.

Yelp
This place is really cool. The decor is super cute and quaint. They have my favorite Doritos of all time imported from Mexico. I really like the variety of flavors they have for nieves and ice cream. Another cool thing is the concha ice cream sandwich. I'll definitely be back to try more of the flavors and to stock up Doritos and candy.

Yelp
This hidden gem has AMAZING Ice Cream flavors and a very warm/welcoming environment. I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the Houston area again!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely my favorite place to go to. I've brought several of my friends here to try the ice cream and find all the traditional candy in store. My favorite ice cream has to be the chocolate abuelita flavor (not pictured here). Also, staff is super friendly. Gracias por su servicio!

Yelp
Let me start by saying the lady that greeted me was very nice, pretty, and i loved her curly hair. The place is small but cozy and theres alot to look at. The menu is on the wall with a large mirror. And I like how she explain everything I need to know about the chamoyada that I ordered. I will be back for another one and might bring my co-workers on our lunch break.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome the service was phenomenal a lot of the menu is in spanish so we had to ask what a lot the items were they had no problem answering every question which is great bc a lot ppl get a attitude when you ask a lot questions that wasn't the issue here! So i chose the Concha with strawberry ice cream i think if your looking something sweet but not too sweet this is a Combination bc they complement each other perfectly!!!
google avatar

Blanca M.

Yelp
I love this little place so much! The couple that works here are so sweet and helpful. And their treats are soooooo yummy!!! Everything here is good! The rose flavored ice cream was interesting.

Yelp
Came here during zombie time(Corona virus). The family set up the store to where it was "social distanced" with tables. The area/plaza has a old western town vibe to it, which is nice for possible date ideas! I came late during the day so the concha wasn't as fresh. But overall the cinnamon sugar flavor complimented the Coffee Ice Cream. The ice cream wasn't to dark in coffee flavor nor to creamy to where you could not taste the coffee. Tiny little gem of a place, that we should all support in times like this!
google avatar

Christine N.

Yelp
Went here for dessert after a full date day and it did not disappoint. My bf and I shared a cup of icecream and got two flavors: cookies and cream and coffee. It came with coffee wafer too! The coffee ice cream was my favorite. It had a nice deep/rich iced coffee flavor. The cookies and cream was really yummy too. It had a nice sweet cream base flavor. I hear their mangonadas are amazing so we'll be back for that one day. They also have shaved ice for $2-3. The shopping center it's in is suuuuper cute.
google avatar

Chavez J.

Yelp
It was so good and amazing. ice cream just melts in your mouth and the people are so nice. The taste is so unique.

Fernando A.

Yelp
Great place really feels like you're visiting family the staff was very friendly i originally ordered the concha with abuelitas chocolate ice cream and it tasted really good everything feels authentic and that's what i loved most about it . I went back for the chocolate mazapán and came out with an horchata, A chamoyada & the mazapáns the lady in front was so kind as to take it to our table as well! they look very involved with the community! definitely would recommend this place 10/10!

Lyndel B.

Yelp
The concha ice cream sandwiches are to die for! I highly recommend the mazapan ice cream
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
We stopped in here randomly to get a dessert. They have lots of Mexican candy and snacks to choose from. And it's a family owned and operated joint, which is something I can always appreciate. It's in a nice little strip with several other cool and funky boutiques and coffee shops. And really close to university of Houston's campus. We both got a mangonada. They make their ice in house. And it's delicious. The chamoy ice isn't over powering with chili and is actually little sweet. Which mixes really well with the mango ice! And the fresh cut mango on top was just the icing on the cake. Definitely Italy recommend the mangonada.

Yelp
Dios mio all the feels! (spanglish review warning, and the real review doesn't start till paragraph 3, ya know how I like to ramble about myself.) Some of the best years of my life were in East End, when mom and dad were together and when I ran everyday into my dad's arms yelling "papi," he'd grow red in the face because the neighborhood full of boys followed me yelling "papi, papi" too! Right about the same time el paletero would come by and my dad would sing to me "Piña para la Niña", although I usually picked la paleta de tamarindo. I would share it with my favorite boys, and force the rest of them to eat mud pies. Treats of Mexico has most of the treats I have enjoyed from my Latina culture. Even arroz con leche and I didn't know until I added my pictures to Instagram. Not that I could eat anymore. I mentally and physically prepared to eat one of everything. Skipped lunch and worked out for that hour. The only thing missing is the real tamarindo that you can only really find at a street mercado in Mexico, and they give you a ball of tamarindo in a plastic bag. That sort of thing I can never find here. Also, as a little girl I shared everything except that. I would be asked "what are you eating?" and I'd say "poop," but that's a story for another day. All that just to say, todo muy sabroso. You can have all the traditional treats, elotes and raspas to the new more outside the box concha and ice-cream. As they say treat yourself. No better way to do it than with Treats of Mexico. There's a meme that says, the phrase "treat yourself" has ruined my bank account and waistline. This place will definitely ruin the waistline if you eat everything I ate in one sitting but will never break the bank! The only reason, it didn't get the 5 stars is I wish it was bigger for more loitering. You know like the other famous raspa place we all used to go to growing up in this hood.

Yelp
Such sweet staff! A friend and I went when it was probably 15 minutes before closing and ordered the ice cream concha sandwich. The concha was not as soft as I would like it but it was not rough either. Back to the staff though because I had no idea their closing time was at 9 pm and me and my friend were chatting it up inside their store, enjoying our dessert and mind you it's like 9:15 pm and the staff are just patiently waiting and quiet. I got a little curious and checked Yelp again to see what time they closed only to realize they been CLOSED. 5 out 5 for great customer service, yummy dessert and decent pricing!

Shanicy A.

Yelp
Great place! So cute loved the owner she was so sweet & they have the BESTTTTT mangonadas
google avatar

Alexandra S.

Yelp
Rum raisin #icecream: $3.50 Super thick and creamy with an undertone of cinnamon, then suddenly bursts of sugary rum explode when you bite into the soft sweet raisins. They also offer #vegan options too. Rather diverse in flavors and ideas you can even get your ice cream made into a #concha sandwich as well as #maizblanco and various Mexican junk foods. P.s the owners are awesome

Lucia G.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream!! Arroz con leche was delicious and chocolate abuelita taste just like the hot chocolate. Will definitely return!!!
google avatar

Mel S.

Yelp
The mangonadas are amazing. The service is great and they're friendly people. Highly recommended

google avatar

Rajata K.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. I'm in love with this little shop and safe haven from the Houston heat! Their pineapple nada was absolutely fantastic! Refreshing, delicious, and an amazing treat on a warm humid day. They have different flavors for and they're individually priced at 6 bucks. If you're in this part of town, definitely try something you wouldn't get anywhere else. I'm more than happy to spend my money here and get more of everything.
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
I'm a foodie but not for your regular type of food. I love going around town and finding great spots for raspas, mangonada, frutas, aguas and many more Mexican treats. I have to say this spot is now in my top 2! The owners were so nice, the fruit was fresh, everything was so fresh, the candy was great, and they take credit cards! This place is 5 stars all around the board for me I have recommended it to ALL my friend. I'm disappointed I didn't know about this place earlier!

Tristan J B.

Yelp
Best conchas. Best ice cream. Highly highly recommend! The arroz con leche is my favorite
google avatar

Fern D.

Yelp
One of the best hidden gems of the east end. You have to try their homemade ice cream. The arroz con leche ice cream will have you thinking about it all week! When I miss my hometown I stop by. The owners are amazing too! Come by and tell them Fern sent you
google avatar

Claudia G.

Yelp
This little Mexican sweets shop is super cute! Saw many Mexican candies that reminded me of my childhood along with some I've never seen. I had the coffee + almonds ice-cream on a concha sweet bread. That was a great combination since most Mexican sweet bread are traditionally enjoyed with coffee. I do have to admit, it is probably too much for one person unless you're really hungry. Samples of their ice-cream flavors are provided (the rose petal was also great). I will definitely be back to try their other treats soon.

Mariela G.

Yelp
The concha with the ice cream is a must try. So many different Mexican treats and they have the best service! Definitely recommend

George G.

Yelp
Five stars from over 100 Yelpers is often a great sign. I hate to be a party pooper, but I found Treats of Mexico's chocolate ice cream very underwhelming.
google avatar

Ivanna C.

Yelp
Their ice cream in a bolillo will give you all the life and joy. The ice cream flavors are out of this world and reminiscent of childhood goodies. Abuelita hot chocolate and mazapan flavors were a favorite. They also have cute artesanías
google avatar

j r.

Yelp
Excellent treats from south of the border you won't find here in the states ! The agua de mango was the best I've had . Mangonada was excellent !!
google avatar

Kimberly D.

Yelp
Yes, this place is deserves its 5 star Yelp rating. Cute little place in the East End, very friendly and let us sample before deciding. I got the shaved ice and it was to die for. Perfect for the hot Houston summer.
google avatar

Noemmi V.

Yelp
Ok now I see why this place has 5 stars!!! The snow cones and ice cream they make here are absolutely delicious!! You owe it to yourself to come here. And the best part about it is the super friendly service. The guy that helped us gave us a detail description of everything we got. He was so nice he pretty much let hubby & I sample everything. (Hence, this is why we mixed everything Lol) So delicious! Will definitely come back again!
google avatar

Arlette M.

Yelp
When I first saw the picture of the concha with ice cream, I just knew I had to come to this place!!! I'm glad we did because we didn't leave disappointed!! I got the concha with ice cream (of course) & a mangonada. The mangonada was just perfect too!! Taste a lot better than the ones I've tried at other refresquerias. I liked that they put chunks of real mango and their mango shaved ice in there too. My husband got the lemon shaved ice, lemon chamoyada and Tostitos preparados. Kiddos got candy and a ice cream paleta. We left with our tummies full but happy!!We are definitely coming back!!! Oh and the owners are super friendly!! Great costumer service!!!! P.s they have a variety of Mexican candy in their too!! I felt like a little girl at a store not knowing what to pick! Haha. Pretty neat set up!!
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Cute little shop w Mexican treats and flavorful homemade ice cream. Customer service was great, guy was very helpful and let me try a couple of their ice cream flavors before I could decide. If I'm in the neighborhood again I will definitely make a stop.
google avatar

Macie R.

Yelp
This place is located in a very awesome shopping center filled with locally owned stores! They make their own ice creams and have a huge variety of Mexican candies. I absolutely love the Alebrijes they have on your way out. Also snagged some Mexican Doritos, if you know, you know. Go try it out!

Won R.

Yelp
Quaint shop. Great owners. Really delicious ice cream and sweet bread. Definitely a hidden gem.
google avatar

Vianey H.

Yelp
I felt like a kid at a candy store. Their conchas con nieve omg MINDBLOWN with delicious flavor. Their natural raspas are the gospel truth! Has definitely become one of my new faves, and I can't wait to spread the word about the little hidden gem to all my friends!
google avatar

Viviana Q.

Yelp
They have different flavor ice creams which are so good! Abuelita ice cream is my fav! Only thing is there is no restroom and place is small.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
You'll like whatever you try. It's all delicious. Not to mention the assortment of candies, snacks and such.
google avatar

Oliver B.

Yelp
I came across this quaint tiny dessert eatery establishment that serves deliciousness. Support local when you can, and the cute place will hit your sweet tooth. Looking forward to my next treat.
