"Treemendous BBQ has been a Jacksonville staple since 2007. While the restaurant is small with just a few tables, what it lacks in size it makes up for in flavor. The restaurant and food truck specializes in smoked chicken, which can be made into a sandwich, chopped and put onto a salad, or just eaten by itself. But the best thing about stopping in at Treemendous is being able to order an entire gallon of banana pudding to share with friends and family." - Megan duBois

Google
This is DEFINITELY one of those places I'd DRIVE to the other side of town to SMASH some good BBQ!! Sheesh!!!

Faith Tubalado

Google
I was in the area and have heard good things. I finally stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed it! I was able to sit and enjoy a plate of their brisket with collard greens and bbq beans. The food was excellent. The service was on point and quick. Will definitely stop by again!

Google
When I pulled up and there were several state trooper and police vehicles there I knew it had to be good!! Great Brunswick stew, beef brisket, pulled pork, lima beans, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and bbq chicken! Homemade sauces are excellent as well! This place is the real deal for traditional regional favorites owned and operated by local people.

Google
First and foremost, the customer service. It's excellent here. The 2 young ladies, we're tremendous. And the food is amazing. This was my first time here, and they made it special. I would definitely recommend, and we'll be back

Google
Exelente people, amazing service ! It was our 1st time here since we just moved in the area. Everyone was super nice, educated and kind. Thank you for the banana pudding samples you gave our family ( it was my father in-law's favorite) they make you feel welcome and the food is 10 out 10 .

Google

Google

Google
I have passed by here for years and say I'm going to stop and try them out. I'm glad I did today. The meat is tender and moist and juicy. The bark on the outside of the ribs. I can't even explain it. The green beans before you can even put it in your mouth can taste the flavor. They were out of the banana pudding so we didn't get to try that. But next time we will. Update: banana pudding! I went in early and they had it. If I could have gotten a gallon of it I would have.

Bobby B.

Yelp
The smoked meats are TREEMENDOUS! :) This spot shot up my Jax BBQ list after one try and took the place of Berndt Ends since they closed down. The food is tasty, the people (staff & patrons) are friendly and the banana pudding is amazing!! Took a quart home last time. It's a casual spot...order at the counter, pick your table and your order will be called out when ready. Parking is a gravel lot. Plenty of room but it can get muddy/potholes during rainy days.

Yelp
Not sure when I've never tried this place before especially since I use to work right around the corner from here. I was visiting the area felt like eating some BBQ. I ordered the Brisket and Shrimp, I ate most of the Brisket before taking a pic, so only have the photo of the Shrimp. The Shrimp was lightly breaded and had light seasoning, the best part about it was the size of the Shrimp, I was pleasantly surprised. . The inside is larger than it seems from the outside, my one negative was the smoke inside, burned my eyes at times so I couldn't sit inside very long. All of the staff was very friendly and so courteous. I would absolutely eat here in the future

Chris O.

Yelp
If you're looking for an incredible barbecue experience, this small, off-the-beaten-path restaurant is a must-visit. Their wings are out of this world, and their selection of meats and sauce mixes is top-notch. The house rub is also fantastic. The barbecue sauce is the perfect complement to their mouthwatering ribs and pulled pork. This place is easily one of the best barbecue spots in Jacksonville, and the green beans are a standout side dish. They're packed with flavor and will leave you wanting more. Despite the restaurant's cleanliness, a bit more attention to detail in the dining area would take it to the next level.

Yelp
We got take out. We got the feast for 2 that feeds 4! We got brisket turkey pulled pork and ribs. Sides were 2 Mac n cheese, fries and limas. I love baked beans but went with limas. Everything was delish! Mac n cheese def needs salt and even pepper but was creamy and cheesy. I made a brisket (very moist and even fat was tasty) sandwich with their hot sauce which isn't hot and a little ranch dressing. Wonderful! Fries dipped in homemade ranch were crisp and yummy. Mustard sauce was tasty. Turkey was moist. Ribs were fall off the bone tasty. Pork was tasty and moist. The service is very quick, friendly and efficient. The interior is kitschy and clean. When we arrived about 15 men were waiting to go in. They ordered and took a seat. We then ordered in under a five minute wait and first orders were already on the way out to the men who ordered in front of us. Our to go order was ready under 5 minutes. Looking forward to going back!!

Yelp
This is my favorite hole in the wall bar b que place in Jacksonville. Worth the drive to get. We got a half chicken dinner and a chopped pork sandwich dinner. My chicken dinner was enough for two. Highly recommend this place.

Sue D.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. Hubby and I are recovering Californians and used to California sized servings so we came here and got the family meal. Boy were we shocked! Food was amazing and the price point can't be beat. Cute lil spot but sitting inside you will smell like smoke when you're done! The service is amazing and the sauces are wow

Bob F.

Yelp
Great bbq & service. I recommend it to my friends when they fly into Cecil Field. Outstanding!!

Chrissy N.

Yelp
Awesome food, great service, great value. Terry and his team knocked it out of the park again!! Everything was delicious, but the brisket was outstanding, and the collards were the best I have ever had!!

Brad H.

Yelp
Stopped in today to pick up lunch after church. We phoned in the order and it was ready when we arrived approximately 20 minutes later. While the dining room and parking lot are small, the staff at the counter service restaurant were attentive and friendly. The dining contains the smell of the smoke from the pit and you can see them fix your order from the counter. We ordered the family 4 meat meal with an extra side added on. They were out of sausage, but we did get turkey l, beef, pulled pork and chicken with quart size sides of Mac and cheese, coleslaw and barbecue beans. The meal also comes with Texas toast and choice of barbecue sauce. They will also provide plates and utensils on request so all you have to do is get it home. Everything was well prepared, the meats had just the right amount of smoke and were tender and juicy. I think they gave me a whole chicken in the meal. The sides were good also and the cole slaw is very firm/ finely chopped and not overly sauced. We fed a group of 4 adults and 3 kids and still had left overs for dinner. Definitely recommend for family take out.

Tarneisha H.

Yelp
I first came to know about this business via foodtruck, which left a very good impression on me. The ribs were tender and that's enough to get me to follow you to the ends of the earth . This however is my second time visiting the brick location. It's a small building, pretty simple looking which is ok for bbq. The inside is dim, not much natural light, and just enough space for a few seats. I ordered one of the specials on the board, pork sandwich, a side & drink $10. Pricing was good. The sweet tea was fine, nothing to shout about. I had to ask the cashier for a lid because the ones out for customers was soiled with something I couldn't identify. The pork was dry. I had to drown it in sauce to get it down. The fries were simple krinkle fries. My husband had the rib plate. He said the ribs were tender but lacked flavor (he's the family grill master btw so that critique holds a lot of weight). He said the Mac and cheese was a no for him. All in all I was not impressed not sure when or if I'll return

Margery F.

Yelp
YES!!! I'd share pics, but all the food is gone. Yummy BBQ and an awesome staff! Go get some....

Kenny R.

Yelp
Honestly the best ribs I've had at a BBQ place in Jax. Would also recommend the turkey.

Debi W.

Yelp
We ordered the Dinner for Two as recommended by the girl at the register for our first time. Four meats, four sides and four garlic bread. So good! The ribs fell off the bone, Turkey was moist! The green beans had meat in them! Try it! You won't be disappointed! We haven't even gotten to the brisket yet, that's for dinner!

Ken D.

Yelp
Awesome BBQ. Collards are great as is Brunswick stew. Portion are excellent and price is good. Highly recommend.

Richard S.

Yelp
Just got a Brisket sandwich here , price on menu was $14.99, on menu over counter it said up charge for beef, it was so dark you could hardly read it and I paid $19.12 for a Brisket Sandwich with a side. When I got home and opened package 1/4 of the Brisket was fat!! No way to do business.

Mark M.

Yelp
Great food and price. Hard to find good bbq. Meet was great with and without the sauce. Everything cooked to perfection

Carlene W.

Yelp
The food here is always good and they are always professional and courteous. The food is never overcooked and they have different sauces to select. I love their large salad with two types of meat. I always add bbq sauce to mine.

It's Just M.

Yelp
Really good food, but main thing that concerns me is the chicken. THEY MUST BE SHOOTING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF STEROIDS IN THEM BIRDS. Chicken breast are extremely HUGE . As if these chickens are larger than a turkey or Ostrich for that matter. Scary

Dustin H.

Yelp
Overall I feel like this is the Best BBQ in north Florida. I used to live 5 minutes from here. I always get the 3 meat dinner (Brisket, Ribs, Pork) the Brisket 9 out of 10 times is delicious and the best in North Florida. Never had bad ribs or pork. I always get a side of fried pickles too and they are fantastic.

Maisha R.

Yelp
A friend and I were at an event where this food truck was and we both wanted to try it. After getting suggestions from the guys working in the truck, we both decided on the brisket plate. The nice portion of brisket came with two sides and I opted for the baked beans and macaroni and cheese. It was topped with a thick piece of white bread. The brisket was smoky and flavorful but it had some toughness to it, definitely requiring a knife to cut it. While the mac and cheese was cheesy but quite bland, the beans were great. Memorable beans are hard to come by but these were sweet and very well seasoned. I should've gotten the beans as both of my sides! In general, this truck has good meat, great beans, and good sauce. I was just hoping for more from the brisket.

Larson Z.

Yelp
This BBQ joint is one of my favorites along with Gator! Real, authentic BBQ, fries, mashed potatoes, all the fixins, etc.

David W.

Yelp
I went to Bono's Barbecue on jammes road and this is the meal they gave me for a higher price I'll go to tremendous for now on cuz I can save money and still get a good quantity and quality

Hal L.

Yelp
We had their barbecue chicken and ribs in the catering for our event today at the Jacksonville equestrian center. Very good BBQ too!

Ravy C.

Yelp
One of the best BBQ on the west side of jax always fresh and friendly! Taking a whole family here is worth it!

Tricia S.

Yelp
Visiting Jax for healthcare every two months and the restaurants here do not disappoint. As this is my late mom's home, I've been searching for a west side BBQ restaurant from the past called Sly's. (If anyone has info, please let me know). I found Treemendous instead and am so glad. Small casual restaurant with booth seating, smells delicious inside, our meals were incredible. Fall of the bone ribs and pulled chicken. Three sauce choices on table, all very good. See photos below. Reminds me of what I was looking for. Recommend.

Linda O.

Yelp
Tremendous use to our favorite but lately the brisket has been dry and overall not as good as it used to be.

Edward A.

Yelp
This is not my first visit to Treemendous so I knew what to expect....and that's why I came back. We happened to be relatively close so when someone mentioned bbq, I knew exactly where I was taking our party. This dive has counter service and everything I've ever eaten here is excellent. Since we didn't have lunch, we ordered a small order of onion rings and corn nuggets to start. Fall off the bone smoky ribs was my protein choice for tonight. My sides were collards and fries. Anytime a place like this has collards or greens, count me in. All food was TREEmendously good. Around the table others had chicken as smoked turkey and all were happy. They have 4 or 5 sauces including hot, mustard, sweet, and original which is like a vinegar sauce. All are good but I lean towards mixing mustard and sweet. Soooo good. If you're in the area just look for the pink polka dotted hog out front. When you find it, your bbq craving will be fulfilled. If you're not in the area, it's worth the drive.

Terry A.

Yelp
Family barbecue place, out in the country! Unexpected and tucked away on the Westside of Jacksonville. Small dining area with large booths and that Smokey smell that gets your appetite for smoked barbecue going. Heavy take-out business tells you the food is worth the trip! The restaurant is rustic yet clean, so you won't mind eating in. If you are looking for authentic smoked barbecue give it a try. The sides were also very tasty, piping hot macaroni and cheese, with a creamy texture, sweet and sour cole slaw was also very good, with grilled Texas toast. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get! Family friendly service with walk-up counter ordering. Always like to see local businesses succeed and they also do catering.

Tunt B.

Yelp
The ate is too die for. They run out pretty often because it that good. Nice portion that fills you up.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Get here early for lunch! If you're late you'll be waiting in line and they might run out of something you wanted! You order at the counter, find a seat, and they will bring your tray out to you. Try the hot mustard sauce, it's so good! I want to thank this business for allowing me to get the kids portion meal. The regular portions are super large and I don't want left overs. I couldn't even eat all of the kids portion. Lol Oh, and thank you for carrying the fat crinkle fries...not many places have good bbq pork and good fat fries, my favorites! P.S. you should get someone else to take phone orders other than the person taking counter orders...you would speed things up for your customer.

Rey D.

Yelp
This is my only bbq spot in all of Jacksonville. I refuse to go anywhere else. Great food and the service is amazing. If you have not been here you need to go!!!!

Susan P.

Yelp
I've been here a few times over the years. The barbecue is pretty standard for Jacksonville. The staff is OK, they're not particularly friendly and they're not particularly unfriendly they are really not memorable in any fashion. That doesn't make them bad that just makes them not special per se. The menu is also pretty standard, fried pickles which are pretty good, corn nuggets, the usual barbecue, very typical salad for a barbecue place, everything is very standard. I might have given this place one more star in light of the fact that they do barbecue pretty good, However it seems that the ribs are, while tender, kind of dry unless you soak them in sauce. I think perhaps they just cook the fat right out of them except for that little fat slab on the top. Also, every time we go there it seems their air-conditioning is broken. It was 84° inside when we were there last weekend. That just distracts from the experience in a significant way. I like to come here because I'm all for supporting the small business and I'd much rather give them my money then one of the barbecue change however if you were in the mood for great barbecue you should hit Monroes on Highway.

Steven J.

Yelp
Here is an out of the way restaurant. Treemendous BBQ serves great food at reasonable costs. I had the pulled pork with trying their sweet, mustard and BBQ sauces. All of the sauces are great. Their sides of baked beans, collard greens fries, potato salad and Lima beans are great. All of them need no seasoning. The drink size is huge and self serve. I love their sweet tea. Food is ordered at the counter and delivered to the table. It was a bit crowded. We took the the last table. The music is a bit on the loud side. There are no televisions, so enjoy a conversation with your dinner companions. This is a great hole in the wall restaurant that serves treemendous BBQ, definitely worth the drive past it's competition. Come try it for yourself and enjoy.

Kim T.

Yelp
Best pulled pork sandwiches in town! I drive 20 miles just to treat myself to this delicious food here.

Jason D.

Yelp
Best barbecue in Jacksonville. The food at most BBQ restaurants whether franchised or local in the area are incredibly sub-par and leaves you with the feeling of regret after spending your hard-earned money there. Most of the time the food at these franchise stores is bland, dry, and/or disgusting. Nothing is more disgusting than spending a good amount of money on some ribs or chicken that was made the day prior then packaged to be microwaved the next day. In contrast, I can tell you that Treemendous BBQ is the complete opposite of all of that. You can tell that the food is made with respect for the ingredients and with care for the customers that chose to eat such food. The BBQ that they serve is tender, juicy, and delicious (especially the brisket). Also, Treemendous BBQ's food will make you feel as if you are stealing from them for the generous amount of food you will receive. Here not only will you get great food, but you will get a generous amount for the price paid. Furthermore, I would like to add that not only is the BBQ good but the sides are great as well. I was surprised when I ate the baked beans and for once was it not watery and tasteless, but was rich and flavourful instead. Let me tell you this, I have never been a customer at a BBQ restaurant where I wanted to come back, and I would generally stay away from them due to the bad experiences I've had with them in the past. Yet with Treemendous BBQ they are the exception. I will be sure to come back for my BBQ needs and will be sure to recommend only this establishment to anyone looking for a place to get great BBQ (Or might I say food that is actually edible). Please do consider Treemendous BBQ for your BBQ needs. Thank you for reading.

Juvy D.

Yelp
Ribs and chicken wings were very dry and not seasoned. The bbq sauce is watery. The potato salad was like mashed potatoes and not seasoned. The only thing that was okay was the baked beans. The employees are a little rude and took forever to take my order when I was the only there. My first and last time going there.

Warren B.

Yelp
I vacillated between 3 and 4 stars here, but I'll err on the side of optimism since they have just easy fixes to make. I had a smoked turkey sandwich and fries from the truck today, and there were definite strengths in the cooking. The turkey was as moist as could be, with a nice smoke touch. Obviously some real expertise on that smoker! Only problem is the lack of seasoning; even a touch of s&p would have really set it off! Same with both the sweet and mustard sauces...they lacked impact. They were thin sauces, so maybe I just needed to add more them? Big win for me was the fries. Double fried, killer seasoning salt, and super fresh!

David N.

Yelp
Well.... it's been 3 months I guess I should have waited the full 6. It's 420 pm 4 employees and NO tea.... of any kind. It's true, sorry ass employees will ruin a business!! I drive 40 miles to get here and the shit is going on. Garlic bread was wet I had to get new bread they mixed dried out pork with the fat parts and basically fucked me out of 10.00 Employees have turned my favorite bbq place into a shit hole just like Sonny's I'm done with this place

Shane B.

Yelp
Do not try and get them to roast a whole pig for you. They'll charge you $10/lb !! So a 60 lb pig (which is pretty small) will cost you $600 ! And that's not including purchase of pig. Go elsewhere,I found a restaurant that'll do it for $150

Susan Q.

Yelp
So once upon a Saturday I was over on this side of town because I was supposed to be skydiving. When the weather didn't permit, myself and my moral support went in search of adult bevs and food. Well thanks Google cause you lied. There is no alcohol here. We thought for a second about leaving, but decided we would stay and have some que. I went with the pulled pork sammich with cole slaw as my side and then added some fried pickles. The drink cup made me laugh because it was SO huge! The food came out quickly and everything was really good! The cole slaw was perfection, the fried pickles dipped in ranch were awesome, and the pulled pork, while a little on the dry side, had a good flavor to it. The place is super small, and you leave smelling like bbq, but the staff is friendly and the pink pig outside made for a fun photo. I don't often find myself on this side of town, but I will look for the food truck when i'm out and about!

Naomi B.

Yelp
Wow, word of mouth is definitely working for this joint, I must say. Got there at 11:30 a.m. to see a packed house. I was lucky enough to snag the last table, though, so big sigh of relief. Now...why 5 stars now as opposed to my 4 star review? Because they deserve it, that's why. Because there's a difference between BBQ that makes people full and BBQ that makes people happy. I don't just leave this place stuffed, I leave here wanting to come back tomorrow, and smiling at the thought. As MUCHHHH as I wanted to try the "roll up your sleeves" ribs this go around...the pulled pork sandwich was calling my name and I couldn't resist. I barely glanced at the menu, in fact, because I knew it wouldn't matter. Pulled pork it was. Between two pieces of thick, garlicky texas toast. And with the "sweet" sauce? I can't even tell you...partly because I'm starting to drool. Winner winner pulled pork dinner. What puts it over the top is the bark that's chopped in with the meat. That slight crunch to compliment the soft shreds of pork. I just...sat there wanting to savor the taste, really, that's what it comes down to. Top rated sides: Baked beans, corn fritters, collard greens, onion rings. The mac n cheese, you ask? Borderline "meh" and "so-so". Banana pudding very popular, though. I "people glanced" the other tables...not much talking going on...just satisfied grunts and nods of approval being exchanged between bites. Nice to know I'm not alone :)

Charles A.

Yelp
This barbecue restaurant is a little out-of-the-way on Herlong road almost to Normandy Boulevard. You walk into the place and it seems like a small little simple barbecue joint. I found the people to be very friendly. When I asked what their best meal was they told me all of it was great and suggested I should start with the ribs. So I went ahead and ordered the two meat dinner with the ribs and pulled pork. I started with the ribs with no sauce added. I do not think I have come across better ribs. I was very impressed. The pulled pork was also awesome and I had their homemade macaroni and cheese. For such a smallOut-of-the-way place they have had some of the best barbecue I've ever had.

Kim V.

Yelp
We were really surprised how good the BBQ was! Most places are about average but the Brisket was delicious, Ribs on point and decent chopped pork. The place was pretty steady. We plan to come back and try it again.

Kate W.

Yelp
Ordered the 3 meats - turkey, pulled chicken, pulled pork - with bbq beans and fries. Everything came piping hot (temp). All the meat had a really nice seasoning. The chicken and pork could have been more moist. The bread it came with was delicious. I am not a bread fan. I enjoyed their sauce selection too. My meal with a $2 tip was a little over $15. Not my favorite bbq joint but it was a good meal, good value and I would return.

Ryan P.

Yelp
Ended up in Orange Park randomly and was looking for a good lunch spot. Found Treemendous on Yelp and decided to swing by. The cashier/waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. She recommended the beef, Turkey, ribs, and chicken. We got all but the chicken, plus some other sides. The ribs were phenomenal and the turkey was extremely juicy. The beef was a bit dry but after speaking with her she happily gave us another batch that was much better. I was planning to 4 star, but the service was exceptional and bumped to 5. She kept checking on us to see how we were doing and all her recommendations were spot on!

Donald K.

Yelp
If want great bbq this is the place to go! The service is great and when walk in you know it's the real deal for bbq. Always great when you in eat in or take out!

Janel B.

Yelp
ok I'm back on on my food truck review. today is tremendous bbq...ist glance smelled good am d looked good. Nice menu variety. i got a 2 meat combo not on menu for 14$. portion side was good but got back to office to eat and no mac and cheese. and one thing I don't forget is this black girls mac and cheese...grrrr. bbq was ok not best NOT worst but ok...the brisket was a bit dry and seemed pre cut but was ok. ribs we fall off bone. seasoned lightly not overbearing smoke but flavor more in rub than in meat. i would prefer a bit more seasoning but that's just me. bbq grade. my coworker had turkey her grade was a C. she sd it had a weird taste. i give bbq a c+.m a Texas girl so if my brisket is dry I say bye bye..thank u in sync u hear me singing it..would I try again I don't know there a lot of bbq in jax and this was not a stand out

Danielle S.

Yelp
All I have to say is wow! The employees are sometimes rude depending on the day you go in, I've been multiple times within the last week because service is fast and convenient before I head into work. The food is super delicious, multiple dishes to choose from.

Charlie T.

Yelp
Me and my wife went here after church Sunday and was not pleased at all, we both got rib plates and the ribs was so bad we fed it to our dog, the ribs was a little chewy and was not seasoned at all, the Potato salad was not seasoned either, the only thing that was good was the garlic bread, I was so so upset after tasting my food, but u live and you learn, the way I feel a good rib should taste good with or without barbecue sauce.

Steve O.

Yelp
Best Bar-b-q in Jacksonville, we get the family feast and you get enough food to feed our family twice. My son in law loves the sausage and I like the turkey. They do steak on Friday and sell a lot. I had them cater my youngest daughter's wedding and they did a phenomenal job and the guests raved about the food.
