My husband and I had a wonderful evening at Trellis Restaurant! We really enjoyed our dishes — everything was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent: warm and attentive. A special thank you for the complimentary dessert — such a kind and thoughtful gesture that truly made our night. Thank you for the cozy atmosphere and care. We’ll definitely be back! 💛

Plating and presenting a dish can have tremendous impacting on the dining experience. For me it starts with the eyes, smell and all the other senses follow. Trellis did not disappoint any of my senses. The plating and presentation of my dish was perfect and the taste was equally impressive. It’s was just a well prepared and well balanced flavorful dish. I tasted the tomatoes, the garlic, onion, and a hint of wine playing in the background in the sauce. The pasta and thumb-sized prawns were cooked to perfection as if they were competitors vying for my taste buds. It was a tie because I devoured the dish. Oh, and the honorable mention is the warm rustic buttery Italian focaccia bread that’s crusty on the outside and pillowy on the inside, yum😋

Loved this place. The owner and staff were SO, incredibly, kind. The food was very delicious! It’s a welcoming kind of energy that makes you feel like you’ve been going there for years even while it’s your first time. Looking forward to our next evening at Trellis.

Google
Fantastic service, food and wine list! Our waiter was an absolute delight and very attentive. Lovely spot for a date night or meet up with family and friends. The Apple and goat cheese salad was refreshing, as was the chicken, don’t skip dessert! The tiramisu was delish. So glad we gave this place a try, authentic Italian food with a great vibe. Staff that takes pride in their service. Truly a delight to dine here with Murat as our server, he went above and beyond and it was such a treat. Also the upstairs patio is lovely!

Google
Nice northern Italian restaurant with delicious food, huge portion, and attentive staffs. We enjoy the salmon, spaghetti bolongese, and pesto pasta. We feel welcomed and well served. Good wine list. Nice setting. If you want to sit in the patio, you should make a reservation.

Google
Has a very lovely outdoor seating area upstairs surrounded by grape vines. We went on a Friday afternoon and they were able to accommodate a party of 16. The food was delicious. Had the special, pesto risotto with chicken and pine nuts.

Google
Excellent service provided by Jorge and the entire staff at The Trellis. Their rooftop outdoor dining is a hidden gem in Menlo Park, with patio lighting and heaters. (Free parking is available in the back after 6pm) The menu is extensive with authentic Italian food, all prepared to order. Save room for dessert that is all made in-house! Wine is available by the glass or bottle with choices of Italian or domestic from CA. The Trellis has two full bars and delicious cocktails prepared by experienced bartenders. Recommend starting with the Calamari appetizer. The filet mignon was accompanied by au-gratin potatoes and mixed vegetables, while the pan seared scallops were served with orzo and mixed vegetables. Will definitely return to try more of their menu!

Yelp
There is a vast array of food items to choose from the menu. The quantities and quality of food are superb. Everything was fresh and brought out hot. The service was outstanding as well as the attention to detail. We sat out in the outside patio area, which is very nice.

Yelp
Pros: Upstairs seating with outdoor patio and bar Enjoyed bruschetta and fresh mozzarella Caesar salad dressing was tasty and I added shrimp Friendly staff Cons: Can be very noisy with large groups. The acoustics isn't great. Many dishes came out cold and their timing wasn't great. Half our table finished their meals before the other half got theirs Pro tip: Nice family owned place with good food. Maybe go with a smaller group and don't go during a busy time.

Yelp
One of the BEST Italian restaurants in the Bay Area! Always consistent quality prepared with expertise.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday night with my homie. Not too crowded and opted for upstairs outdoor seating. Pretty hot day but there was a slight breeze. Definitely get the Riesling (5/5) so refreshing and I opted for the Parxxx Sole Fillet, orzo was a bit on the salty side. Homie got the prawns and finished it all. Highly recommended for italian feast with a nice outdoor ambiance.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice decor and feel. They have a great outdoor seating area on the roof. They have a full bar and the drinks are good. They do take reservations as well as OpenTable reservations.

Yelp
Trellis is a hidden gem. Food is consistently delicious...always tastes fresh and perfectly seasoned. They have the best carpaccio, also a fan of their lamb chops, fet prawns, and veal parmigiana. Staff is extremely friendly, very old school which makes for great ambiance! Check out their patio! Shout out to Gorge and Omar for always making me feel welcomed and being attentive.

Yelp
Came here around 6:30 PM for dinner tonight. Not busy at all. Restaurant had plenty of open tables, hence getting pretty good, attentive service. Fancy atmosphere with well organized table settings and some pretty cool picture frames on the walls. Appetizers: the Calamari & the Bruschetta. Both tasted good. Nothing too specia thoughl. I would recommend the Bruschetta more only because I'm not a big calamari fan to be honest. My entree: Susan's Downfall pasta w/ added prawns (5 big pieces), no almond garnish, and I also ordered sauteed mushrooms on it too but they forgot to add it to the dish so they gave me a VERY generous amount on the side. The pasta entree itself was a really delicious, cheesy, herb-filled ravioli dish. However, the cheesy, gorgonzola sauce got a bit overwhelming overtime (all the ravioli pieces were drowned in the sauce). Lol, I started to try to move the raviolis and prawns to the side, away from the sauce. I also got to try a piece of my co-worker's Steak Au Poivre entree. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and just melted in my mouth. This dish comes with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli & carrots. I would have to say that the sauce tasted too bitter for my palette (too much wine in sauce) so, if I had that dish to myself, I would've asked for SOS (sauce on side). Lastly, my dessert: Lillian Bertucci's Favorite (vanilla ice cream w/ warm raspberry sauce & whipped cream) garnished with a blueberry, mint leaf, and some kind of mini, French bread. A simple, yet very delicious dessert. I liked presentation.

Yelp
Food was okay but prices were too high for quality of food. Ambience was nice but way too quiet which seems like restaurant is not too popular. Service was good but nothing special about it.

Yelp
Cordial waiters and owner. Quiet ambiance with a main-street view. And the food? Magnifico! The shrimp, goat cheese and strawberry salad, and desserts were all tasty and beautifully presented.

Maryclair T.

Yelp
It was a real pleasure to be greeted by the owner, Mr. Ugur, when we arrived for our dinner reservation at Trellis. He was very cordial and suggested where we should sit, for our quiet, family dinner. We enjoyed delicious wines, soups, burrata, bread, duck, sole, salmon and tarimasu! Everything was delicious and one could tell that the bread was homemade! So good! Thanks to our server, Axel, who was most attentive and kept us smiling and happy throughout the dinner. His suggestions were spot on, and he kept our water glasses filled too! Perfect meal at Trellis, as usual! We will see you again soon. The Tall family.

Yelp
Just went to a corporate event out on Trellis' outdoor patio and really enjoyed the setting! Very nice service and good food and drinks too! You might not notice this restaurant from the street but if you are planning an event where you want people to be able to relax and talk on a nice private patio setting, look into Trellis! They also have a pretty large indoor restaurant downstairs which I haven't tried. My 5 stars is for the ambience on their Trellis. - Libby

Yelp
5/5 for service, food, and patio vibes Disclaimer: was here for a private event of 50 people Pro: -the host is very inviting -excellent service as they were on top of the food, bread, and wine -the free WARM bread was everything with the really good olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette (best one I've had yet) -multiple heat lamps for the back patio Con: -in downtown so limited parking unless after 6pm, they said they have their own private lot but it's small and packed Dishes: -Apple and goat cheese salad: the glazed walnuts were delicious but the dressing was a bit too sour -salmon with orzo: very soft and moist, overall it was good -homemade tiramisu: was good? I'm not a big fan of tiramisu so I can't judge.

Yelp
Thanks so much , everything was spectacular! Good food! Service was excellent always attentive! We had a party of 16 upstairs , restrooms also upstairs very convenient.

Yelp
Great place for good, authentic, home style Italian food. The food was delicious. We got bruschetta for the table and I got the Fettuccine Primavera paired with a Chianti. Really hit the spot. Great location as well.

Yelp
Came here for a team lunch . Liked the open terrace like feel. Service was prompt, the waiters were friendly and attentive. Food was okay.

Yelp
What a let down. I made lunch reservations for Mother's Day based on some glowing reviews in a local Facebook group thread -- not sure if it was an off day, but I would not recommend. Food - OK, limited menu options on Mother's Day. Food was ok -- nothing special, but not bad. Solid 3 stars. The menu was pretty limited -- might have been because it was Mother's Day brunch. Rest of our party preferred ROMA down the street -- common feedback was that the seafood was bland and overcooked -- but I was fine with my spaghetti bolognese. I do recall that there were sauce splatters on my plate, which I found somewhat sloppy presentation. Prices - not cheap, but on par with downtown MP. On par with local options -- not cheap but portions pretty generous; based on overall experience I'd definitely rather spend my money somewhere else. Service - very poor. This is where the 3 stars from food/value gets knocked down to 2 -- the service was pretty terrible. We were left constantly waiting for anyone to pay attention to us -- whether to order, to get refills, even the check. When we arrived, the lady was pretty miserable -- should have left then. We had a stroller and we had to lug up a narrow set of stairs -- no offer to help or store. They ran out of high chairs with seat belts, so gave us one without a belt (without acknowledging or checking if we'd even want that), leaving us with both a high chair and a stroller with very little room between tables. While refilling my water they spilled. It was just bad, and I was embarrassed because I'd chosen the place for Mother's Day. I'd wondered why I hadn't tried this downtown option after living here for three years, and now I know why. Ambiance - mediocre. To be fair, my expectations might have been set too high because I was thinking "rooftop patio" - but think garden furniture (like black metal with no table cloth -- not cute Parisian woven chairs or anything remotely close), tables pretty jam packed (despite us dining during COVID distancing), and a scenic parking lot. Much prefer to flat parking lot options at Left Bank, ROMA, Bistro Vida, etc. Overall - would not recommend. Will not be coming back. There are plenty of better options nearby.

Yelp
This place is awesome, some of the best fresh, homemade bread I've ever had. The patio was peaceful and the service was very attentive

Yelp
Lovely food, great ambiance, perfect for families or singles. Come enjoy food and drink in good company!

Yelp
Excellent service , the food was good . Staff was very attentive and efficient. Bartender made us some excellent cocktails based on our individual preferences. Really enjoyed our evening here.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was quick and easy. Server was greet, and friendly. Parking is a bit of a hassle on Friday nights.

Yelp
Aside from very nice service this place was pretty dismal. Sat on the patio. It was pretty dirty. The food was not good either.

Yelp
My girlfriend has to visit Stanford Medical twice a year we found this place. OMG so good we always have the carpaccio which we share. Then we may have a pasta or something we can share. I really like Penne Arrabiata really good with a nice spice. Services is great. Very friendly waiters. We always eat upstairs outside but we usually go for lunch. Lunch until 2 so we try and make it into town way before that. It's also fun to sit at the bar. We have been going for probably 3-4 years.

Candice O.

Yelp
Good food! Good cocktails! Good service! Tried this place for the first time this weekend, and I'll definitely be back!

Larry R.

Yelp
I went here to celebrate my birthday and ordered the Boeuf Bourguignon for my companion and me expecting the rich, hot hearty Italian stew flavored with red wine and a variety of aromatics. Although the beef was tender It had no wine or aromatic flavor and lacked even a single mushroom. Having made this dish using several recipes with great success this was indeed a huge disappointment. It appeared to me that the chef braised the beef in water, added a few carrots, and lots of salt, and called it done. Since my last visit, the roomy and comfortable banquettes have vanished to be replaced with tables and chairs to accommodate more clients. This has increased the noise level to the point of obstructing our conversations. On the plus side, the owner gave me an excellent tiramisu for dessert and the service was excellent. . .

Yelp
Very impressed with this place! I wanted to take my hubs out for Italian (his fav) for his bday and was researching my places on Yelp when I found this one. The menu looked great and I loved the outdoor patio pics. Made a resy a couple days before with issues since it was a random Thursday. We, of course, sat on the outdoor patio. There were a few other parties, but the restaurant was overall not very crowded. The service was quick and our waiter had good recommendations (helped me decide between a few mains and on the split decision we were having for appetizers). The burrata was excellent, and my husband loved his sausage and pepper rigatoni. I was scraping the plate on my shrimp dish! Both of us also had wine (solid selection with good by the glass options) with our dinners. We left content, stuffed, and well taken care of! The ambiance at our corner table on the patio couldn't be beat too. A great place for a special occasion or a date night!

Yelp
My son and his wife took me to Trellis Restaurant in Menlo Park last night. We had roof top dining and first class Northern Italian food. All our meals (PASTAS AND SALMON wonderfu)l First time diners and we will definitely be back soon. Kurt and Team were wonderful. HAD WONDERFUL WINE WITH OUR MEAL. KERWIN FAMILY

Yelp
Trellis is my wife's and my "go to" restaurant for our weekly date night. The food is outstanding, and expertly prepared. The waiters are like family (in fact, many are related to Kurt, the proprieter). Whether we dine on the upstairs patio, or indoors, it's always great food elegantly prepared and served. I caught a picture of Kurt (see below) on one of his first full days once outdoor dining was again permitted. He is on the second flood patio. I'd give it 100 stars if I could. We've never been disappointed.

Yelp
Is the old man ill, the owner I presume? He threw a tantrum when our party of 5 arrived with a small service dog. He refused to let us sit. We said we would take the dog home as we live just up the street. He would not listen, yelling - yes! Bellowing! that we could not stay - on and on. Of course we left, gladly! with him still yelling! But something is wrong.
google avatar

Lexie K.

Yelp
I think this place is more in the business of running customers out the front door than bringing business in. Its unfortunate how rude and condescending the staff here can be. Seems as though the owner and his staff have a chip on their shoulder. I love supporting small local businesses but this one has a lot of fundamentals to learn if they want to keep the doors open. Lets just say the staff brought one of my family member to tears! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Yelp
Random date night my gf took me to a local restaurant she's familiar with. It was near closing time and only one other table being used. The inside is kinda small but intimate with decent decor.. the menu isn't crazy, kinda minimal but you'll definitely find something without feeling the need to settle. When the bread came out it set the tone really high right off the bat. I must say the rosemary, warmth and softness of the bread will have you examine the slice wondering what magic was put into it. Dipped in oil and balsamic and you start imagining all of the things you can do with this bread.. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the risotto with clam, shrimp and chicken. The flavor and texture held its own against the bread, not to be overshadowed. I don't usually like a large portion of just one item without contrast but I finished the heavy plate without getting tired of it. Finished off with tiramisu which isn't my first choice being that I don't like coffee but I ate it all and enjoyed it very much. Pretty light and airy with a nice contrast with strawberry. The service was really good here, ambiance was nice and everything looked clean. The price wasn't too bad or too great so I'd say it was worth the value. This place is going in the rotation and if nothing else, the bread will be something I think about seconds before I sleep every night..lol

Elaine G.

Yelp
Possibly some of the best Italian in Menlo Park. Wonderful wait staff!!! Marvelous upstairs open air dining on the roof!! I side is lovely. Attention to detail. Always a favorite.

Yelp
Delicious food and very good portions! Friendly service. Highly recommend this place for Italian food.
google avatar

Veronica A.

Yelp
The food was ok, service was pretty good. We went for a work lunch and we were promptly seated. I had a chicken salad, and it was extremely bland. Perhaps I should have ordered a pasta dish or something. I'd go back and try more dishes, just not the chicken salad.

Richard F.

Yelp
Excellent food, pleasantly surprised first time visit. Will be back. Great service plus roof top eating.
google avatar

Yelp
Like others this is a 3.5 star review rounding down. We had six on the roof. Lovey service - waiter was attentive and friendly and food and drinks were timely. Food is - meh. I had a pasta with shrimp were way over cooked. Sad to do that to shrimp. My husband has veal Parmesan and it was nothing special. Our friends had a ravioli with a pound of cheese melted on top. Looked decadent but there were maybe ten smallish ravioli inside. For the prices - not so great. Other friends had an entree of shrimp and veal - more rubber shrimp- and a pasta with a chunky meat sauce. They liked theirs though shrimp were overbooked. Good desserts. Overall lovely space; we got lucky apparently with excellent service and we did not interact with the owner. I read he's a jerk. We won't rush back. Too many other really good places and the prices aren't worth the food quality.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
Services good food was delicious. I had chicken Alfredo. Almost as good as my mothers I wanted to take some home but I couldn't stop. I finished the whole plate, this place is top-notch. I will be Brock.

Yelp
Wow traditional, delicious, friendly staff, great service. It is quite nice. It's very nice to dine in or on the patio. It's a more of a classy intimate setting here. Delicious Caesar salad, scallopini, cab wine from Paso Robles and great dessert and after meal coffee/ latte options. Good place to take parents and guests visiting Palo Alto, Stanford, Menlo Park. Some families celebrating birthday here.

Lee K.

Yelp
Food was delightful, elegantly served. The service was personable, attentive and very thoughtful, with recommendations for wines and the specials of the day. Most pleasant dining et Trellis, as usual.

Marli E.

Yelp
I needed to arrange a place for dinner for 12-20 people with a couple days' notice, and the owner was so enthusiastic and accommodating. We ended up being 14 and a long table was arranged downstairs. Service was perfect and everybody was very happy with their food. I had the carbonara; the pancetta was especially amazing. My seatmates loved their risotto. A large table can be a challenge but they managed it handily. I can confirm Trellis is good for groups.
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
The gnocchi is delicious and the warm bread comes out before the meal! The patio is perfect for larger groups and the staff are attentive and kind. Just a forewarning, if you're lactose intolerant, the gnocchi is rich in creamy sauce so beware! The dish is so good, though!
google avatar

JoAnne L.

Yelp
This is an old-school restaurant that reflects how Menlo Park used to be. If you take the time to get to know the owner and staff and treat them with respect, then they'll go the extra mile. We held a very special family event here and Kurt could not have been more accommodating, even though I made several changes to the menu. Everything is made fresh, from scratch on the premises and the quality of the food is outstanding. The serving staff is great, and if you don't see what you want or need - just ask! We couldn't have been happier with the outcome of our event.

Diana R.

Yelp
We went to Trellis last night for an early Mothers Day Dinner. I haven't been there in a few years, and I have a mom who only eats a few things, and sisters who are more open. Everyone loved their food-- tiger prawns, chicken piccata. I loved my scallops. We loved the calamari appetizer. The apple tort was good, not as sweet as I expected. The coffee was hot and delicious. The service was great- very friendly. Even as it got busier through the evening we didn't feel rushed and could enjoy good conversation. Overall it was a great evening!

Shal S.

Yelp
Overall a disappointing experience. Went there for Mon dinner with friends, restaurant was not very busy so service was reasonable. The food quite have been much better given the menu prices! - Complimentary bread was dry, toasted and impossible to dip into the olive/vinegar - Salmon for entree ($32) was not worth it. Hard rubbery and over cooked :( - Sauteed prawns my friend ordered had some sort of smell Would not recommend this place...

Denise Jo C.

Yelp
We had our department holiday lunch at Trellis today. The food continues to be outstanding. The staff is so welcoming and attentive. We had the Calamari and Bruschetta appetizers. Delicious! I had the Veal Scaloppini with lemon caper sauce as did several others, all loved it. Others had the Beef Bourguignon, Susan's downfall (home made raviolis in gorgonzola cream sauce) and Gnocchi Aurora. Everyone enjoyed their choices. Several of us had the Chocolate Mousse and Creme Brulee - fantastic! If you haven't been to Trellis, check them out. Happy Holidays to all.

Richelle H.

Yelp
I haven't eat at this restaurant but the owner is very rude while my daughter with me .. terrified from his screaming/threatening us and using foul languages .. stating we are using his restaurant parking spot and there's a sign. The parking spot we parked is the next building that most tenant moved out, that's not even his business establishment to begin with. We were there in and out pick up food (not from his restaurant) within 3 minutes. I will NOT RECOMMEND to my friends and family this restaurant at all.

Olivia S.

Yelp
Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Silicon Valley! Their food is so fresh and bright you'd swear they grow their own vegetables. Tasty cocktails, too! Their service is warm and personable, yet efficient and professional. The ambiance is the best! Whether Al fresco dining on the rooftop or intimate seating indoors, you'll be glad you're there!

Yelp
Trellis is our go to Italian restaurant. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and attentive. We love the rooftop patio.

Jaquan T.

Yelp
Servers: friendly and well-trained. Waiter named Omar very helpful. Food: 7.6/10 solid I ordered Spaghetti Al Pesto. Sauce was savory and meal was filling. Chicken was too chewy however and not well seasoned. Accommodations: Yes (Allergy-friendly) Ambiance: 9/10 nice venue Service: Took long for my order to come out but great waiting staff - clean table - silvery clean - accommodated pea allergy - Odor - took too long for order to come out
