I was craving Mexican food last night and my husband found this place. After looking at the photos, I wanted to give this place a try. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff and were told we could sit anywhere we like.
We sat down and our waiter came and took our drink order right away. He suggested strawberry lemonade, which sounded good, but I was craving some iced tea. I asked if their iced tea was sweet, and our waiter said they have both sweetened and unsweetened, but the sweetened was flavored. He said mango was one of the flavors, so I opted for that since it's my favourite fruit.
After giving us some time to look at the menu, our waiter came back to take our order. We ordered a shredded beef burrito wet with enchilada sauce, a shredded beef chimichanga, and a Baja fish taco.
I was starving and couldn't wait for the food to come out, and luckily we didn't have to wait too long.
Wet shredded beef burrito: this was our favourite out of the three. The enchilada sauce was not the best, but it worked with the burrito. It was a lot lighter than we expected it to be though, we were expecting a red sauce. We asked for a side of the verde sauce and ranchero sauce so we would know if we liked it for next time. We decided to stick with the enchilada sauce. The shredded beef itself was good and flavourful. Not the best we've ever had, but probably the best we've had in NV (for now). I think it would have tasted better with some guac and sour cream, so I used some from the chimichanga, and I was right.
Chimichanga: I've never had a chimichanga before, but it's essentially a deep fried burrito. I liked the concept of it, and it tasted good, but I think I prefer the wet burrito over the deep fried. This order came with guac and sour cream while the wet burrito did not. It tasted the same as the wet burrito with the differences I mentioned above. It was good, but would probably not get again.
Baja fish taco: this was the least favourite of the three, and we probably wouldn't get it again. Instead of one big piece of fish, there were a bunch of small burnt pieces. The sauce they used was too tangy and not very good. After taking a bite, it just gave a weird aftertaste. Will not be ordering this again.
Our server brought refills of our drinks to the table often, and even brought a small pitcher of my iced tea to have table side. The iced tea was okay and not too sweet, but it didn't have the flavour I was looking for. Next time I'll try their strawberry lemonade.
I was stuffed by the end of dinner, and our server asked if we'd like dessert. I ordered a flan to go. When I got home, I had digested enough to try a bite of it. It was different from most flan I've had, it had a strong cinnamon flavour, but it was still good. I saved the rest of it to eat later.
All in all, the place was not bad and the staff were super nice, so we will likely be back to try other things on the menu.
