My mom told me and my sister about this place and she did not let us down!! I got the banana bread chai hot with oat milk…. PHENOMENALL!! Takes the spot as my favorite chai by far!! It had the perfect amount of creaminess and a wonderful banana bread taste. It’s so cute in there and the employees were all so nice! Will definitely be returning soon!

Google
I’ve seen a lot of reviews of the chai at Tres Gatos so I finally had to try it for myself. I was a little nervous it would be a spicier chai because it was homemade but it was perfect! Still sweet but it tasted like a real tea. I got the iced chai with lavender cold foam which I’d recommend. Excited to come back and try their other cold foam flavors. The hot oatmeal cookie coffee was also good! Staff was friendly and helpful!

I have been coming here for a few years now to get a chai about 1-2x a week, and have recommended this place to almost anyone that mentions they want to try a coffee shop. This week will be my last week. I ordered a small chai (no alternative milks), and a muffin. The total was $14.50. For $14.50 I could have gotten a whole meal from most restaurants around here. On top of that, the muffin was “warmed,” but it was cold inside and dry, with a burnt taste (which you can kind of see in the picture). If I wanted to pay almost $15 for an overpriced chai and a dry muffin I would have went to Starbucks, but it probably would have been cheaper there! Don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Google
I’ll be honest this is one of the coolest spots me and my team like to go to on a Saturday morning with the boys. Always a great atmosphere amazing customer service and I’ll be honest. It’s just straight a vibe.🏍️💨

Google
Charming place! Got the Mexican mocha and pumpkin latte. Both very good! They had a limited time chocolate pumpkin brownie and it was amazing.

Google
The owner is awesome, staff are super friendly and nice and chill. This place is like hanging out at my friend's house after a long day. You know how Starbucks feels business and laptops and meetings and no friends hangout out. No family's at Starbucks, no family's at dunken donuts. This is the place you go and take some time off from life while eating yummy snacks and drinking good coffee. For every coffee you buy, a kitten is born into a loving family... are you the kind of person who doesn't want that? Case closed, Tres Gatos Coffee for the wiiiinnnn!!!

Google
Came here for the first time on a quiet Wednesday afternoon with a friend. The shop is small with little indoor seating, but offers some seating outdoors. It seems to be more of a drive thru shop (which they offer) moreso than a sit down shop. They have a large selection of drinks for every kind of coffee lover. There's baked goods and sandwiches as well. Staff was friendly and keen to offer recommendations. I ordered one of their skinny lattes and it was pretty good. The bathroom looked generally clean, which is how I determine how clean a place is. So thumbs up! The shop has a lot of character so you can tell the staff and the owner value character and a certain ambiance. I'm sure I'll hit up the shop again at some point.

Google
This place is super zen/cat lady/ downtown Seattle hippy vibe. I ordered a dirty chai with banana cold foam and it was buss. My gf ordered the Red-40 Dirty chai and it was equally buss. The two drinks (with our modifications) came out to $18 and some change before tip.. so besides that definitely visit this spot.

Yelp
I love this place. It's cute and vibey and the coffee is good. I've yet to go inside cause I love a drive thru but it looks cute from the outside. Service is super nice and they always give good recs.

Yelp
This spot is in a cute little area tucked away. The street it's on is super cute with all these cool murals. There's outdoor seating which is nice with summer coming up! Food wise everything I got was delicious. I got a chocolate chip cookie and it was massive! It as soft and just the right amount of sweetness! My favorite thing I got was the Jalapeño cranberry scone. Omg when it was warmed up with was good. Food wise everything for me was 5/5. Drink wise it was like a 2/5. I got the passionfruit mojito drink. It did not taste like passionfruit was more like mojito. But it just tasted very syrupy to me. I think I just got the wrong thing here. Next time I'll stick to coffee! Overall cute spot, wasn't overly crowded and their pastries were good!

Yelp
I was hoping to find some cats, but instead I found a lovely coffee shop on a darling tree-lined street in Midvale. I'll forgive the bait-and-switch since the coffee was absolutely phenomenal. I think the word has gotten out, since there was a steady flow of people Saturday morning in the shop. Service is friendly and quick, and the drip medium roast was delicious. Although I was here in the cold of winter, I noticed that there is outdoor seating. I could see myself sitting out there on a summer morning, sipping on a cup of Joe while waiting for the gatos to show up. It's probably more likely that there would be a dog sitting out there, which I'm equally happy about.
google avatar

Kristy A.

Yelp
This coffee shop is really cute, and has indoor and outdoor seating. There's even dog parking! So they do encourage dogs hanging around outside with their humans they just can't come inside unless they are service dogs. The staff are friendly and the menu offers a wide variety of items. There's definitely some unique options. I tried one that had peanut butter and peppermint. (Holiday flavor.) The flavors weren't too strong so unfortunately I couldn't taste that part very well. But the coffee itself was good. I also did try an iced matcha that was pretty good. Next time, I want to try their own, house majnteevaon They advertise their homemade Chai a lot. I need to try it next time!!!

Yelp
It's a cute little coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Pets are not allowed inside but they are outside, and the front is kind of fenced off. Parking can be a little tricky but not impossible. They close at 3 on weekdays and 5 on Saturday, but double check before you go. They have a selection of sweet and savory treats but I didn't get any today. I got an iced medium chocolate donut drink with toasted marshmallow cold foam from their seasonal menu. The ice is crushed and I don't mind. Drink was about $7-ish and I think cold foam was $1 extra. It was really good, not too sweet and not too watered down. The toasted marshmallow tasted a little more on the coconut side but it was still delicious. I follow them on Instagram and they post daily different fun drink combos. So I like how customizable drinks are here. The woman taking my order was super nice. And the tip amount on the iPad starts at 18%. I didn't super pay attention but I'm sure you can do custom amounts too.

Yelp
Wonderful variety of flavors, knowledgeable and adventurous baristas, and a quality product that is as tasty as advertised. What else could you want? Shout out to the raspberry hibiscus iced tea with peach. Refreshing as hell and taaaaasty! They're amenable to mixing and matching flavors to whatever you want -- the jalapeño cranberry scone is proof. Go here. Enjoy the natural light, pillows, and buzz of a locally-owned neighborhood coffee shop without the sugar, cost, and headaches of the big chains.
google avatar

Samantha J.

Yelp
Tres Gatos really never disappoints. Baristas are top notch and management has got that joint locked down. Still the creamiest, spiciest, most delicious chai in the whole state.

Yelp
What a nice, hip cafe in a quiet neighborhood in Midvale! It looks like something I would expect to see closer to the downtown area. We came here because it was halfway between a friend and our locations. Additionally, I was interested in the house made chai and vegan and gluten-free baked goods, which are rare finds in south Salt Lake. The cafe had ample seating and a nice ambiance, minus the construction work going on outside. Service was fast and friendly- a staff member even ran out to me after I had forgotten my fanny pack. As far as the chai, it was a little sweet for my taste, but I am pleased at their nondairy milk options. I enjoyed the three varieties of vegan and GF muffins. Having baked a fair amount of vegan and GF things myself, the muffins were great considering they were gluten-free. Overall, this place is great to meet up with friends and very dietary restriction inclusive, and I would be happy to come back to try out more of their drink options.

Yelp
I love discovering new pockets and neighborhoods in Salt Lake City! This has been on my list forever and I was excited to finally check it out. Tres Gatos has truly the friendliest staff ever! I was greeted by the sweetest people when I walked in. I ordered my classic iced chai order and it was AMAZING. One of the best chai's I've found here in SLC. They have some pastries here - both sweet and savory options, but that's the extent of the food they offer. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is limited, and we were lucky to have some sunshine on the patio when we visited so we sat outside. They also have a drive thru! There's a small parking lot behind the building, but there was plenty of parking on the street. Excited that I finally got to check this place out and can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Robin T.

Yelp
A lovely shop with plenty of outdoor seating and a good supply of indoor seating. We had decaf Rocky Road mocha and decaf latte, both of which were very tasty. They have a selection of vegan and gluten-free food items. Adorable stickers, both as decoration and for sale. Staff was very helpful, friendly, and welcoming.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Easily found parking on the street. I was drawn by their Instagram where they make it clear they're empathetic and they'll help you figure out what you want. And it's true! I had no idea what to get. I told them I have the palate of a child- I don't do coffee or tea or carbonation or caffeine . So they custom-made me a Berry'd Alive with no lotus and no soda and real sugar in the flavor syrup. It's wonderful and exactly what I needed. AND I got the last gluten free muffin! Maple and brown sugar warmed in the oven. Yum!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Another great local coffee spot in Utah! They have street parking and a small parking lot in the back. The inside is very small but cozy. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. They have a drive through for convenience. I had the iced salted vanilla latte with oat milk and it was really good.
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
The menu here is seriously elite, I'm pretty sure they can make a cold foam out of any flavor but chai is by far my favorite. Everytime I've come here the person taking orders has been super sweet and patient. The cost is fairly standard, $5ish for 16oz of drink. The scone was good, I wish I had tried it warmed; it had cheese, bacon, and sausage I think (they never specified what's in it).
google avatar

Gemini U.

Yelp
$8.66 for a 16 oz hot Mexican Coffee with an extra shot of espresso. All I could taste was milk, cinnamon and sweetener. Way too sweet, and I really couldn't taste any coffee. There was a ton of chocolate syrup on the bottom of my cup when I went to throw my cup away... When I walked in I just wanted a nice fresh cup of house (drip) coffee. They didn't have any made, and they didn't offer to make any. They suggested the Mexican coffee. I guess most people are opting for frozen drinks in this 90 degree weather except for us die-hards. Parking is still hard to find a spot on main street, but they do have a drive thru if you just want to grab and go
google avatar

Alyssia N.

Yelp
Probably my favorite coffee shop by far! I love that it has a unique menu and everything is pretty great! I got the chai tea latte and it was so good. I will be coming back for that. I also got the lemon blueberry scone. It was super good and they warm it up. The barista who helped me was so sweet and super knowledgeable. I will be coming back soon.

Aylin G.

Yelp
The scones were fresh and tasted great! The staff were so nice and the atmosphere was pleasant. Next time I'll sit outside to enjoy the artwork
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Drive through option! Super friendly and speedy service. I got the house chai latte iced and it's probably one of the best latte I've ever ever had. They have larger drink options, which I really like also so if you want it to last a little longer I got 32 ounce and they use pebble ice, which is always plus, we came through the drive-through with our little dog and they even offered him a treat. We will be back.
google avatar

Jen A.

Yelp
Pro tip! Follow them on Instagram to keep up with what's new as well as the tried and true favorites! It's also where they post their new product and the few times a year you can buy chai by the bag! We love everyone and everything about this local gem!
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Very unique drinks that taste like the name / what they're supposed to be!!! Expresso brownie is super crumble y and a little dry so I wouldn't get the food again but drinks are 10/10!!
google avatar

Yelp
Tres Gatos is located in a vibrant neighbourhood which has many murals. It gives a very artistic vibe. Tres Gatos is a cute little place which offers varied beverages and food. It has a limited seating with lots of games. We had tiramisu mocha and it was amazing. If you are looking for a sugar rush, this should be the perfect drink but if you looking for a caffeine rush, then order something else. The service is really friendly and nice.
google avatar

the_ M.

Yelp
I adore Tres Gatos Coffee. They have the best drinks as well as amazing gluten free and vegan type desserts and muffins, cookies, treats, and some yummy lunch type of items as well. I mostly love the name and the drive through is just fantastic. It is located in old town Midvale and they don't usually stay open past 3pm unless there is a mural fest or something going on in the streets or neighboring businesses. Don't miss out on this place and their amazing non dairy options for lattes and delicious goodness whether coffee or not coffee.
google avatar

Herbal T.

Yelp
This place is pretty good, considering this is Utah. The area it is in has a lot of construction going on, so I feel bad that no one really knows it's here. The place is so cute tho. On the inside and outside. Surrounded by beautiful murals. The service is great! And the coffee was good. I got a Mexican mocha iced with oat milk and I enjoyed it. They also have really cool stickers!
google avatar

Linda A.

Yelp
Great strong coffee. While traveling shamefully just go to chain coffee. Because of good reviews thought we would give this place a try. So glad we did!
google avatar

Janae I.

Yelp
If you're into great service, and strong, flavorful coffee, Tres Gatos won't let you down. I've been through the drive thru several times now, but as a mom whose husband is not a morning person, I haven't yet had the pleasure of sitting down inside. Service in the drive thru has always been very friendly, and genuinely so--surpassing Dutch Bros' friendliness, even. I'm a latte drinker. I take it plain when it's hot, but at Tres Gatos I need sweetener because their coffee is strong. This is a good thing, obviously. Just making sure that if you're used to Starbs or Dutch, you know ahead of time that you may need some more sweetener at Tres Gatos. I know many people who are fans of their chai. I don't generally love Chai, so I cannot attest. But I really just don't think you can go wrong at Tres Gatos.

Aayush J.

Yelp
Delaney is an awesome barista. Her recommendations are on point. Super nice location too.
google avatar

Layne D.

Yelp
Really good coffee! Driving by, I saw they had a drive thru and immediately decided to make a detour for a bit of caffeine. You order at the window and the baristas are friendly and efficient. Their menu covers decent ground too. Stop by when you need a boost!
google avatar

Kieran E.

Yelp
This place has the best chai in Utah, hands down. Their lattes are also always delicious, and I look forward to their seasonal menus and specials. The baristas are super nice and friendly, and the service is fast! I usually use the drive through, but the inside of the shop is cute and comfortable, and they play good music.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
I'm just going to update my review because this place keeps getting better! Today is cinco de mayo and I ordered one of the special drinks from Tres gatos and let me say I'm still drooling thinking about this drink! It was a blended mango drink and I'm so deeply obsessed. Fun things: STICKER WAL!! ADD YOUR BUSINESS OR YOUR FAV STICKER ON THEIR WALL! Also it's a drive through!
google avatar

Taylor L.

Yelp
I fell hard for tres gatos. I usually need a couple times and I'm okay with a place and it closes. With tres gatos I love the style, mural(s), drive thru aspect of all of it. They made great drinks and since I saw they had a vegan gluten free coconut horchata muffin featured as the "muffin of the week" or "muffin of the day". Either way I'm eager to try more & more. The turkey bacon sandwich on ciabatta bread was offered to heat up kindly or wrap. Rating of the food was 10/10. No complains here!
google avatar

McKenzie P.

Yelp
This is by far the best tasting coffee in Utah and every time I go in the staff makes my day. They always remember my favorite drink, the Mexican mocha. It's more than a coffee shop it's your neighborhood feel good shop!
google avatar

Mindi A.

Yelp
Open Sunday! Drive thru! Plenty of parking! What more could a girl want. Place is super cute. Staff, maybe owners?, were very friendly. Cold brew was way good as was the cereal bar. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
AMAZING! I was in town 3 days and went here 3 times. Loved their cold brew & cold foam! Each time service was so friendly and loved they had a drive thru when I was looking for a quick stop!

Amanda f.

Yelp
Second time visiting and as delightful as I remember. A hazelnut latte for my daughter was delicious and really good espresso. The blueberry scone was beautiful on the outside and in. It was served warm and we loved it. I got the Mexican mocha and it was really tasty. Just a truly lovely place to stop.
google avatar

Joycelyn C.

Yelp
When I saw the name and logo of this place, I had to try it! The hours made it hard for me to make it in since I work in Lehi, but I left a bit early one morning and it was worth it! I like trying local coffee shops that have decaf espresso since I've limited my caffeine intake. They have a cute setup, a little small, but cozy. They also offer beans, bottled cold brew, and a variety of pastries and sandwiches, with even some GF options! I met the manager, Aubrey, and another crew member, Day, and they were super sweet and helpful. I even walked away with a cute Tres Gatos tumbler because this crazy cat mama must have one, in PINK no less! This place will be one of my regulars. They do get kinda busy sometimes, but worth the wait. And a drive through for convenience.
google avatar

Jamie U.

Yelp
The dirty chai was very good and I understand why this place is well known for their chais. The place was not busy when I got in. All the tables were clean! They also have a drive through which is perfect if I'm ever in a rush. The berry scone I had was also really good.
google avatar

NelIna O.

Yelp
This place is hidden in small streets in the city of Midvale. It's a cute coffee shop with a must have dirty chai tea. They have a drive-through location and the whole staff is nice and friendly. They have seating areas inside and parking in the back. They have homemade scones. I got two of them. I got the blueberry lemon school, and it was very delicious. It was nice and warm and soft inside with a little crunchy on the outside. I could taste of blueberries, with a small hint of lemon it was very flavorful. The breakfast scone had bacon and cheese reminded me of a homemade scone with a twist of adding breakfast meat so it's cute. I got the largest size for the dirty chai and it was the best dirty chai that I've tasted in a while from top to bottom. Usually by the time you get to the bottom of your cup your drink is a little water down and not so flavorful that wasn't the case with this drink. They pack a lot of flavor in their drinks and their food options. Love this place will go again .

Brandee L.

Yelp
I go out of my way to get my coffee from here. Excellent coffee. Excellent service. Definitely my favorite coffee shop!
google avatar

Talon B.

Yelp
I have been coming to this coffee shop for a little over a year now, and I don't want to go to any other place! The staff is always so friendly. They also do their best to remember faces, names, and even your drink! They'll make sure the espresso shots are pulled PERFECTLY. If it pulls bad they will remake it, making your drink taste wonderful! My favorite part about this place is they will have different gluten free VEGAN muffins!!! They are sooo delicious. Just like this one! Seriously. You neeeed to stop by. Also bring your pet, they love all the pets.
google avatar

Blythe S.

Yelp
Came here on a coffee date with the work bestie. There is a parking lot behind the building, which I wish I would have noticed on incoming, but I didn't park too far. It is a bit of a drive for me, but it was a beautiful, sunny day and the patio here was perfect for a catch up. There also aren't many seats inside, so definitely take advantage of the outdoor seating in good weather. I ordered a signature - the Mexican mocha and she tried an iced lavender dirty chai. Both were made with love, you can tell. We also sat and watched while they were made lol Very welcoming vibes, good flavor variety, and although I didn't try any, they have a bit of a baked good selection too. I need to make a return soon to try something new. If it was closer to home for me I could see it being a favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
Wowe. Just WOWE. We absolutely have nothing else like this in SLC/UT. I've never had coffee/drinks this good until we ran into Tres Gatos. A secret little hidden gem on main street that's kinda tucked away but with the most beautiful hospitable energy when you walk in and house made everything, to the extent where you can really taste the difference. They have a house made Mexican coffee and Chai and both are the absolute best I've had anywhere in the country, very on par with many I've had in various metro cities. We are so incredibly lucky to have something this outstanding in Midvale, UT. Sitting in here for the first time just listening to everyone here talking about how they drove from Orem to come here, makes sense people travel far and wide to come to this place. Phenomenal at the least.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
I was told by multiple people that I needed to come here and try the chai and it did not disappoint! It was very sweet and flavorful! But to be completely honest, my favorite thing that I had here was the gluten free muffin! Seriously that was one of the best muffins I've ever had and I'll definitely be back for one of those! Such a fun place!
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Cinco estrellas for Tres Gatos! The coffee shop is beautiful, trendy, very clean, and has an open layout. Indoor seating is limited with a couple of tables, bar seating, and a couch. The barista that helped us, I think her name was Aubrey, was very friendly and helpful. She answered our questions about the menu and went above and beyond. There were several couples and families that came in at the same time, but she busted her butt and got everything out quickly and accurately. We ordered the breakfast sandwiches and mixed berry scone. The sandwiches were fresh that morning and very good. The scone has heavy on the lemon flavor, but I really enjoyed it. To drink, we ordered the Cinnamon Toast latte and Oatmeal Cookie latte. The Cinnamon Toast was very sweet, so we'd likely order half sweet next time, while the Oatmeal Cookie was subtle. We really enjoyed the food and lattes, and will definitely be back. The owner came in towards the end, and asked us how everything was. We loved that and could tell he prides himself on his local business. Thanks again for everything and see y'all again soon!
google avatar

Rawb D.

Yelp
The ladies running the show yesterday (8/1) were super friendly and upbeat! I felt welcomed the second I stepped in! I got myself an iced tan mocha and it was the cat's meow! Only downside was no cats to play with while waiting for my drink! (Unless they were hiding, which cats do tend to do!) I'll be back! Still hoping for cats!
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop and baristas were nice. Got a blended chai and it was way too sweet- couldn't finish it and I ordered the smallest size. Also, pricy. The reason I won't be back is they don't accept Amex, that's really inconvenient for me.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Best coffee, Mocha, and Chai in Midvale hands down. They make the Chai mix and the Mexican mocha from scratch in house btw...
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
Recommend the Mexican coffee. It is smooth, chocolaty, creamy, and delicious. You won't be sorry. Next time we are down here from Oregon, we will try the chai. Friendly service and very welcoming. Go here!
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
tried this cute local coffee place for the first time and i am super happy to have found it! it's a local coffee shop in my neighborhood in the historic midvale area surrounded by artsy murals and some latin american stores and markets so it's great to just drink your coffee and walk around and explore! i ordered the iced nutcase latte and believe you can choose your flavors! such a cute place.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall, great drinks, experience, and atmosphere. COVID - didn't seem to be any precautions in place at this time Drink- I got an iced dirty chai (pictured). This one was pretty good, you could taste the spices but it was still fairly sweet. A good balance. I also got the bottled cat nip to go. It isn't bad at all, though strong (as it's advertised lol). Food- I got the hot breakfast sandwich. It was egg and bacon on a ciabatta roll (might have had more in it). It was really good, but not super filling to me. Either way I was pleased Atmosphere- it's a small space indoors but they've got plenty of patio seating outside. Probably not a place to study for that fact, but if you get a spot to sit then you're fine, it wasn't busy when I went Service- I didn't catch his name but the guy who helped me was so nice and very helpful. Great customer service and the products came out pretty quick Other- they sell some coffee accessories and also have a drive thru
