Tres Leches Bakery

A friend recommended trying the desserts from Tres Leches Bakery, and honestly… he was right! 😄 I ordered several desserts, but this one became my favorite. It’s delicious! 🔥 Plus, the staff is very friendly, which makes the experience even better. The place is nice and cozy, although there’s always a little room for improvement. It’s definitely worth it!

Arrived at 9am, I ordered and Avocado toast with eggs and an omelette that comes with home fries and toast . I left at 9:50 and asked them to pack it away because they absolutely took the longest to slap avocado on a toast and fry an egg. In 50 minutes I could’ve went home and made it and still come back to this place & it would’ve not been done. To put the cherry on top, I didn’t even receive my avocado toast. I had high expectations because I’ve heard this place is good, but definitely won’t be trying again. I even left a tip, because I genuinely had a high expectation. Also for reference, there was only one table the WHOLE time I was there, and maybe a few people who picked up some pastries.

I honestly love the presentation of the cakes. They always put so much passion and thought to it. The creativity is amazing. I’ve ordered two customised cake with Tres Leche Bakery and I absolutely loved it.

The people who work there are really nice and make you feel welcome. This bakery is one of the best places for Tres leches cake. I've been going here since they first opened. At first, it was just a bakery, but now they have added a place to sit inside and they also have many different snacks. Their cakes taste really good, but they are a bit expensive. If you use a credit card to pay, they will charge you an extra 4%. I think you should try this bakery, especially if you want to make a birthday special. They are great at making birthday cake's memorable. The hardest thing is finding a place to park. It's not easy to find parking close to the shop. But you can pay to park on the side of the road. If you can't find parking, there's a Papa John's across from the bakery. On the right side of Papa John's, there's a paid parking lot run by the city. It can fit about 10 to 15 cars.

I was recommended this place for my wedding cake I was not disappointed. The staff are super friendly and were able to achieve all the ideas I had in mind and bring my wife and I's dream cake to life. Beyond happy with the service and will definitely be coming back here!

I really want to like this place but 3 stars is the max. Like others have said, the tres leches cake can be overcooked with a burnt bottom. Staff is always pleasant but what I can’t understand about this place is the pricing. Picked up a single serve três leches cake and a passion fruit mousse, bill came out to $17, crazy for just 2 desserts. Adding insult to the price they charge an additional 4% for paying with a card. I understand credit card companies charge extra fees, but as a business that should already be incorporated into your pricing. At the very least you should offer a discount for paying cash. Would go here more often but pricing is prohibitive.

I ordered a cake a week in advance and called in twice to ensure that the cake would be ready on time. Customer service was rude the entire time. Everyone said it will be ready on time not to worry. Friday comes around and no one has my cake. They didn’t make it because they are too “busy”.

By far the best tres leches with dulce de leche I have had so far. The cake is perfected and just oh so delicious. Just to warn you the tres leches with the dulce de leche is extremely sweet. I had the coffee there which was also good. I purchased a tres leches cake which was only 25 dollars which serves about 10 to 13 people. The tres leches with the dulce de leche cost only 3 dollars more. The bakery is spacious with enough sitting. They play a good playlist with pop music the day I ate there. The parking is hard around the area and is metered in certain days. Update they have new desserts available for example alfajores and such. The place has been changed from the last time I went there. 2024 November I go there every thanksgiving to get desserts. Every year the quality of their desserts are still great and they add more other desserts and flavors to their menu. They also change up the cafe every time I go there every year.

Came here after my haircut with my girlfriend for some grub. It took us a while to figure out what we wanted, but everything tasted so good, and we even ordered desert to go. The home fries, bacon and egg with toast was hearty, I had a coffee with that. My girlfriend had French toast with 2 eggs and a coffee. We came there hungry and left there full. Definitely will visit again there are so many options on the menu!

Tres I saw this place on instagram from an influencer and decided to try it. I love tres leches so I was excited. I parked across the street from the establishment but it seems like parking can be tricky to find. The place was nicely decorated and staff was friendly. I ordered a bbq chicken wrap with fries, a lava cake, cheese cake, tres leches, and a dulce de leche cake. Now I hate when an influencer hypes things up on social media and it disappoints. The bbq wrap wasnt good, the fries were soggy and half cooked. All the cakes were very dry, the tres leches had a crumbly texture, and the only good thing was the cheesecake.

$3.50 empanada $2 pan de bono Service was nice. Given the pastries in a box. Menus are shown on screen and on paper. I think the prices are slightly higher for the same sized items from other bakeries. The market price ive seen are $2 - 3 for similar size/flavor. They also sell ice cream in the back in addition to tres leches, birthday celebration cakes, and flan.

Not my favorite tres leches. The cake was definitely overcooked a bit. Didn't think it was anything really too special or worth going back for. Went in an hour before closing and the lady wasn't really all too helpful about me wanting to ask questions and stuff. they had no prices listed anywhere so that's definitely a turn off for anyone who's just stopping in. when you look online you can't find the tres leches flavors or prices anything . So honestly I probably will not be returning here but I am glad I tried it because it's close by to me. Also the cakes photograph well!

I was in the mood for dessert and heard of this place by a social media post. I like tres leches but my wife and kids do not. I thought this place could change their mind. It did not unfortunately. They did not not like the coconut pineapple one at all. I too was not very impressed. The strawberry tres leches was definitely much tastier. I got it delivered so it came in a nice plastic container. They have a decent amount of milk on the bottom. The pieces are big but pricey.

Great Bakery ! Speciality is cakes. Had tres leches cake (namesake). Fast service. Nice bakery ambiance.

While I was driving past this bakery, I thought it was really nice and decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! I was surprised at how spacious it was as there was space for at least 10 tables, which is perfect for their wide array of products. You can literally come for breakfast, stay for lunch and dessert since there is something for everyone. I tried the pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) and chocolate cake with dulce de leche. Both were good, but the absolute standout was the tres leches with dulce de leche! It was absolutely perfect! I will come back there just for that item alone. It was hands down one of the best desserts I've ever had!! Needless to say, this bakery/cafe is now one of my favorites!

Found this place on google while looking for a tres leche cake for Fathers Day. It was one of the best tres leche we've ever had. Everyone loved it and I would definitely come here again.

Ordered the dessert catering from this bakery. I have to say the mini tres leches (coconut and dulce de leche) were so incredible !!! Everyone was taking doubles so they could take one home. So delicious highly recommend !

This iced drink is . It has condensed milk in it. So . The attendants are always kind and provide satisfactory services. I like that I go during low traffic times and the place is empty. Nice place to unwind and enjoy a drink and delicious treats.

Finally! I scored a prime parking spot and decided to try this cafe. I've been dying to try their desserts for a while now. They offer a small seated area which was empty when I went. You walk into a great layout of their fabulous desserts and savory treats. There's also a blackboard menu behind everything with tons of options for meals too. I opted for a coffee and a regular piece of tres leches. The coffee was just right. The cake was fabulous. Perfectly moist with extra sauce on the bottom. Delicious homemade whipped cream. I was only set back 6 bucks and some change too. It was so incredibly reasonable. Their full tres leches cakes are also really well priced. I'm already thinking about ordering one for my next holiday! The ladies behind the counter were very nice too. Definitely give this place a shot when you have your next sweet tooth.

$28 for 3 slices of cake and a small tres leches. Cake was STALE!!! Not even edible!!! 1 bite them right in the garbage!!!

Ordered a personalized cake for my friend's 40th. Tres Leches made this process so easy, moderately priced and the cake was FANTASTIC. everyone loved it. Not to mention the indoor decor is beautiful! Nice little spot for a brunch, lunch or afternoon date!

I ordered a Tres Leches cake for my mom on her 51st birthday from this Bakery and it was SUCH A HIT. I called in advance and asked if they had the cake for pick up, and they had plenty in stock by the time I went at around 4pm on a Friday! They also have plenty of metered parking out front, it didn't take me too long to find something. The icing is pipped nice and neatly and there are cherries on top -- making for a really cute decoration. The only downside was that the cake comes in a plastic container and it's drenched in milk so it's impossible to take out of there. For that reason, it was not as aesthetically pleasing as I would have hoped. However, the flavor was immaculate! It had an authentic taste, didn't taste artificial and you could tell that it was a homemade cake! The staff behind the counter was nice as well, they tried to give suggestions and let you know what size would be good for how many people. They also had a blackboard menu of a variety of cakes, coffees, pastries, smoothies, sandwiches etc and had a cute little seating area. They honestly have a ton of options and give me cute cafe vibes. It seems like it would be a nice place to stop in the middle of the day and have a coffee, catch up with someone or maybe a very casual date. If I had time, I would've stayed to try something! It was about $28 for the size we got and it easily fed about 8 people (with some -- but not much -- left over). I would definitely go back here to try something new (and probably get the tres leches again too)!

My boyfriend called in an order for takeout that consisted of a slice of coconut tres leches, iced coffee, a beef and cheese empanada, and a chicken and cheese empanada. We ended up getting two chicken only empanadas and a cheese one... they were decent but kind of bland and one chicken one was a lot dryer than the other. Despite getting the order wrong, the coconut tree leches was really great! I like the one from tops diner too but that doesn't have the extra flavor options. I'd say this one is more dense and less sweet than the one from tops and I really liked how the coconut went with it. I'd definitely come back to try more flavors.

Worse flan. No flavor and the consistency of a dense molded paste and expensive. Yuck!!! I'll never go back.

I stopped at this spot to pick up snacks for one of my clients. When I arrived I parked illegally because the street was packed and the snow didn't help. I ran in and asked the lady if they took credit card and she said yes. I ordered random things that looked really good. The lady that helped me was patient with me as I chose everything I wanted. I picked a total of 10 items and it came to about $45 which was a little pricey. I paid and left. My clients were very happy with the treats. I tried the chocolate lava cake and it wasn't bad. It could of been a little more moist but it wasn't bad at all. All in all I had a decent experience.

Amazing tres leches cake! Well worth the drive from Maplewood ton get this cake. We got the rectangle cake in the tray. They have a dulce de Lethe cake but they said it was sweeter. We don't like cakes that are too sweet so we got the traditional and it was perfect for us!!

We were in the neighborhood and decided to stop in. The empanadas are good as well as the tres leche cake. I love that they have several flavors of tres leche to choose from and will definitely go back. The dulce de leche (caramel) is fantastic. Is it the best tres leche I've had? No. But it's good to the point we'd return the 45 minutes to have it again. I read a review of someone complaining the cake was dry. I'm not sure how that's possible as the milk/s are halfway up the cake.

Ordered croquetas for my house warming last minute (the morning of...lol) and to my surprise they took my order same day for pick up. The croquetas were delicious. I will be a returning customer. Thank you!!!

Heard about this place from a friend. Everyone was friendly and nicely greeted me when I went in. I order a few things and asked about stuff I didn't know. The creamy chicken empanada was delicious, it was like a hand held chicken pot pie. The passion fruit mouse was excellent!! The cheese bread was delicious. Give it a try you will not be disappointed. This place is right next to my house. I actually have no problem with their food other than some slight malfunction on my smoothie before. My biggest issue on why I don't give them a full 5 stars is bc Everything is soooo over priced. Like an empanada cost me $4.23... just a single one. You'd think I'm in time square getting this. I always get the large smoothie paying around $8 when it should be considered a medium or even a small. That's really my only issue. Like their food is good but nothing Gordon Ramsay material to be charging extra for their food. I don't mind the customer service, they seem regular. And the place is very clean !

Today I buy a fresas con crema which I buy always but today just tasted like water and they also put caramel on top which they never and I never ask and also don't like I had to throw it away

Had 2 tres leches, carrot cake, 2 French danishes and a hot chocolate. Will probably only return for the hot chocolate. You'd think with tres leche being the name, they'd actually be good. Not flavorful. Very plain. We'll stick to other bakerys for tres leches. Also extremely overprice. All the above came out to 45$

Gotta echo the sentiment of the other poor reviews here and say that the customer service can use some work. With the quality of other bakeries in the area, Tres Leches needs to invest a little more time in to how welcoming and courteous they are to their patrons. Won't be coming here again.

Have ordered Multiple cakes from them but this time around the cake was dry like a desert. The owner's response to me was well if you wanted more moisture we sell the liquid on the side not sure what the point of getting out the 3 leches cake is if you have to get the leches part on the side. Needless to say I will never be ordering from them again.

Best empanadas around! I know that's a huge statement, but I really think these are the best local empanadas. I've also had the churros. Not the best I've ever had but still good. This place is also super cute inside.

Best Tres Leches cake ever, seriously! The cake sits in a pool of milk and yet keeps its moist texture without getting mushy. This cake is not overwhelmingly sweet and I love that they have smaller pieces for sale so you won't feel pressured to buy an entire cake.

I was warned about their customer service but I decided to attempt and place an order anyway. Worst customer service experience. I reached out to the bakery to place an order for a cake for my sons birthday. I provided them with all the details and they said they would get back to me with a quote. I followed up for 3 days before moving on. They reached out the Monday after saying they're sorry that they don't take orders on the weekend and then provided me a price for the cake. I reached out to them on a Wednesday...I understand she may have been busy but some type of communication is always appreciated.

Love this place! I ordered a cinnamon oatmeal and can't get enough! Perfectly made with banana/granola or cinnamon. Great portion to keep you full all day.

THE BEST TRES LECHE CAKE EVER! It was beyond mouth watering. The cake was ready on time and the ordering process was so smooth. It was beautiful and TASTEFUL cake. There was absolutely no leftovers. Yesterday I ordered dessert from here on Uber eats for the first time after reading the reviews. I have to say this place has the best tres leche cakes I have ever tasted. I will only eat tres leche from here moving forward because I won't be disappointed and they give a great portion as well. I recommend the chocolate tres leche and caramel tres leche. Going to try the chocolate lava cake tonight and my bf is going to try out their flan. I did not remember to take pictures because it was gone before I could remember to take pictures but I would say give it a try it is so worth it

The place is super Amazing inside and outside!!! The furniture, equipment and the art were relevantly nice. However, their drinks such as the coffees and smoothies weren't that great. Their treats tasted okay...kinda on the old side. As for the tres leche that i order, both me and my friend believe that it didn't really taste like anything, it had no flavor. But it was an okay cake as well. Which is the reason why i gave them two stars.

After having 3 of my coworkers bring in varieties of this cake to work, I decided to bring my family here for a light dinner and a full sized cake. Since this is a small business and their food is fantastic, I'm going to give them 5 stars. HOWEVER, they have a long way to go when it comes to being a restaurant, mainly because of the service. The staff seemed confused, mixed orders up, needed to be reminded, and did not make eye contact! The Caramel Tres Leches is the best damn dessert I've ever had- IN MY LIFE. Now this might be a little biased because Tres Leches in general is my favorite dessert. However, this also means I've had it in every restaurant that I've been to that has it on the menu and they all pale in comparison to this version.

Ordered passion fruit mousse for a birthday dessert for this evening. My husband picked it up this afternoon and was told to put it in the freezer to get it to the right texture. Anyone who knows what this should look like knows no amount of freezer time is fixing too little condensed milk. If it wasn't set when he picked it up, it wasn't made properly. When I called to request a refund, the manager blamed by husband. Terrible customer service. All she had to do was apologize in store and offer the same mousse in individual portions if it didn't come out right. There are SO many other options in Kearny for passion fruit mousse. Take your money elsewhere.

I am soooo sad to say that I am extremely disappointed with the cake I ordered. I have been going to this place for about 5 yrs but previously only had the tres leche cake in a tray. First time I order a custom cake and it was horrible. Cake was dry and filling of all rotten strawberries. Not even the colors I wanted even with the photos provided. For $230 absolutely not worth it. I threw out 75% of the cake. I will never purchase a cake from here again. Don't even bother it is all decor zero quality. I will not recommend to anyone. Don't waste your money.

I left a review for Tres Leches Bakery months ago but it appears it never got posted. Similar to the poor reviews left by others, my wife and I had a similar experience. First off, I will say this place makes the best tres leches in the area and we've been to many bakeries in Kearny and the surrounding towns. We went religiously every weekend since when they first opened. In the beginning the owner and her boyfriend were very friendly, really taking the time to be accommodating. Granted they just opened and didn't have many customers but nonetheless, they were very nice. We loved their tres leches so much, we made a custom order for my son's Baptism party which was to feed around 50 people. The cake was pretty big considering we wanted decent portion sizes instead of the usual slivers you get at weddings. I must say they did a great job. A couple months later, we wanted to order another custom cake for my son's Bday, but this time around, the owner couldn't be bothered. My wife tried to call a few times but the owner seemed very impatient and unwilling to take the order and informed my wife to come into the store with the details. My wife did exactly that and the owner still seemed unwilling to take the order, focused more on gossiping about her relationship problems with one of her employees. I guess her boyfriend/business partner had left her. It's funny how the owner was so nice and friendly when she was just starting out, but now that her business was picking up she can neglect the loyal customers. My wife walked out and ordered the cake from Sweets and Cortaditos in Belleville and we haven't been back to Tres Leches bakery since. Having a great product is one thing, but delivering great service is another.

Let's first start off that this is my updated review, it's crazy because I was the first to review this place and the man behind the counter was so nice and accommodating. But to my dismay, yesterday I ordered a small tres leche cake for mg mothers surprise lunch. I called asked how much would a small cake be, the lady over phone informed me that it would be $20. I said perfect, let me call you back to confirm order. I called 2 times, no answer. I gave up, I receive a call back and she tells me they can make the cake, and it would be $25, if I would like to pick up Friday night, or Saturday morning, I said Saturday is fine, I ordered a tres leche with caramel filling. To my dismay I get there, I wait for 10 mins before she comes out. Then Karina (owner) gives me her back as if she didn't want me to see it. I ask Can I see it, she goes yes, she shows me. I ask, is that coconut, she goes yes, I'm like ok. The filling is still caramel. She goes no it's coconut filling, I go I'm confused. I ordered a tres leche cake with caramel filling. She's like, oh yes you did I'm sorry, were all human we make mistakes, would you still like to take it. We can make another for you in 10 mins. I ask you can make one in ten minutes? She goes yes i Can, she then proceeded to explain to me that, we are human we make mistakes. I ask was it you that took my order over the phone, she goes yes it was, I go what was the order, she goes caramel, so then I ask why would you make me a coconut cake. She then says I'm sorry I made a mistake. I go, I have guests waiting, I have to leave, what's the status of the other cake, and she then gets mad, and goes you have to wait, you know I don't feel comfortable selling you the cake, that was a second after I informed her, I will be updating my Yelp review as you as the owner are just rude. A group of people walk in, i walk out because I said ok. Then I realized I was already charged for the cake. I go either I get a refund, I take the coconut cake or you give me the new cake. She gets frazzled she didn't realized I was already charged. She tells me ok I will give you a refund. She then proceeds to explain to me that we are human I'm mad, I go how long to refund. I go ok, but if I order caramel, you can't give me coconut, it doesn't work that way. She pulls out $5 from the register says here's 20% off the coconut cake, and some cream to wet the cake. I'm in awe, she did that because she realized I was going to continue to explain that being rude does not help her business. And I asked her is there some sort of discount for this cake since it is the wrong cake. To my dismay I get to my apartment, I live 2 blocks away, and I find out, grandma is allergic to coconut. I still had to go to another bakery, get a cake and be late to the surprise lunch. Will not be returning. Thank you Karina, for your horrible service, and running my surprise. The cake looks nice, we just threw it out, because I was so mad, and this cake just was an annoying process. It looks good, can't tell you how it tastes since we didn't try it.

If I could give this bakery 10 STARS I would. I called today to get an authentic Tres Leches cake for my sons birthday. The young lady who answered the phone was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She explained the difference between a round cake made to order and the wetter cake available in the containers. I chose the wetter cake with caramel filling. My daughter picked up the cake and brought it home. It was the most DELICIOUS tres leches cake that we've ever tasted!!!!! Please go to this wonderful bakery if you're considering an authentic tres leches cake. You will be surprised glad that you did!!!!!

They helped me design a Tres Leches Cake for my wife's birthday. It came out beautiful and was absolutely delicious. They have the best Tres Leches with Dulce de Leche (Caramel) filling I have ever had. Their food is also top-notch. The Chicken Avocado Wrap with Chipotle mayo is definitely worth trying. Their customer service is both pleasant and professional. They even helped me carry the cake to my car when my hands were full. 5 stars for great products and great service.

Wow. I cannot believe how ridiculously good this is. This is also coming from someone who despises and hates tres leches so coming across one that I LOVE?? Miracle. I got the coconut one and I will definitely be back. So sweet. So mouth-watering good.

Totally recommend stopping by and checking it out! The cakes are phenomenal! And the Pao de queijo reminds me so much of Brasil! I just absolutely love everything about this place!

Visited September 29th, a must go. Deserts look and taste good and fresh. Beautiful store. Food is also available but haven't stayed and eaten there as of yet. Will do so in the future. Hopefully there here here for awhile.
