Tres Leches Cafe Downtown

I am glad we found this place right after the short cruise of NY liberty 🗽. This place is just can’t justify just by a 5 star review on this from an individual, if you are reading this you need to try this small pice of sweetness in the city. This is a brand new place opened up, their cakes are really well moist and always fresh. It’s not too fancy but just a simple home made feel you would have. They have different flavours of topping on top of Tres Leches base. I am sure you would love it just for a quick eat after dinner or lunch, the only problem what I saw was with their timing they close really very early around 6 Pm. I hope they might change in future once they grow in business 😉🤗😉

Truly a hidden gem, my wife and I walked past this place all the time and we always said we would stop by one day. We finally did and wow, the cakes are amazing. The flan was ok, but the regular tres leches cake and the tiramisu tres leches cake were just amazing. We will be stopping by more often for sure.

DEEEEEELICIOUSSSSS tres leches cake. I have only tried the regular tres leches but because it was so good, I'll definitely be returning to try the other flavors. The regular was only $5 +tax. The tres leches was a perfect consistency. Light and fluffy and moist cake, not overly mushy or overly soaked. Just the right amount of milk on the bottom. The cake flavor was what did it for me. It had a homebaked taste to it that I really really love in cakes. The shop is small and has a little counter with 2 chairs for seating.

As a Chinese, I give it my highest compliment for dessert to this Cuatro Leches. IT’S NOT TOO SWEET!❤️❤️❤️❤️(I usually have my bubble tea half sugar just FYI.) The cake is not over soggy. It’s perfectly moistened and firmed. Y’all gotta try it. Totally worth it!!! Updates: I ordered a medium large one the next day. It matched with my wine so well. Surprisingly amazing 🤩

I had 1 slice of classic tres leches, and was so shocked by how much I loved it that I went to a Morton Williams afterwards to try a store-bought tres leches as a comparison. I still enjoyed the latter, but not in the same way I loved the former - - especially light, airy, delicious. Also surprised the container shows nutritional facts. I'm skeptical that a slice is only 260 calories!?

OMG, hands down the best tres leches cake I have ever had! I have tried so many and this place knows just the perfect recipe for it. I originally ordered a tiramusi tres leches for my birthday dinner, but it's so popular they ran out and had to call me to change it. The lady I spoke with and ordered it in advance with was so sweet and polite and because they ran out and couldn't get me the one I originally ordered she gave me the other option I had asked for which was guava tres leches and an extra regular tres leches cake out of courtesy which I really appreciated and showed great customer service. When I got to eating the guava tres leches it was so rich and creamy and the guava was tasty and layered on top. Not watery and not dry as I have experienced. Today I tried the regular tres leches cake and OMG I almost fainted and me and my hubby went through half of a cake for 6 people or more alone. My favorite cake is tres leches and this is totally my new go to for my cake. Thank you to the sweet young lady that helped me over the phone and when I picked up the cake. Great energy and great cake!

Hands down the best tres leches in the city. Absolutely gutted that their downtown store has permanently closed now. Will miss this place so much!

Earlier this month I picked up a small tres leches cake and I must say the experience throughout was amazing! First of all, I was looking for a last minute GOOD tres leches cake when I found this company, I called and was treated so kindly by the girl over the phone, thanks to her I was able to reserve the last cake they had that day, she made it so easy and was so pleasant throughout. I was able to pick it up a couple hours later. Initially when I saw the cake I was a bit scared that it wouldn’t be enough, but to my surprise it was more than enough and WOW it was so incredibly delicious. The guest along with us were surprised at how yummy the cake was, hands down the best tres leches cake ever, soooo succulent and rich. I highly recommend this place!

I love this place! No notes! Friendly staff and easy pick up. As pictured we took home slices of Cuatro Leches Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake and Tres Leches Pineapple Cake All were incredible but the pineapple one takes the cake (no pun intended). Super moist and very sweet. Even still delicious the next day! Fast pick up and small space. 10/10 recommend and would love to see this catered at an event!

Omg their tres leches cake is SOOOOOOOO good. I ordered a couple to try - the original, cuatro leches, tiramisu, guava, pineapple, and passion fruit. My favorite was the original and cuatro leches. It was super milky, cake was soft and perfectly moistened. I've licked this container clean. Personally I did not like the tiramisu one, the coffee taste was sour. The fruity ones are ok but I have to prefer the original and cuatro leches one. THEY ARE PERFECT.

I ordered my coworkers birthday cake from here and it was a bit hit! The medium cuatro leches cake fed about 16 of us fairly generously, and for $60 before tip, is a steal. The employees are very nice and helpful. I'd definitely come back. They have a ton of flavors like guava, pineapple, and tiramisu that were tempting.

Sorry but this review is way overdue! Tres Leches may not be a dessert I enjoy but when I was in the neighborhood with my daughter we stopped in so she could try it. She loves Tres Leches and hasn't had the authentic version served by Tres Leches Bakery. Too bad because we have a location in our East Harlem neighborhood. To cut to the chase we received the same quality customer service. My daughter took her cake home and enjoyed it and everyone was happy. When she's happy I'm happy! Plus I don't need more sweets!

They have been out of the tres leches slices at Whole Foods, so when I saw this post soho shopping trip, I had to try it. This is the real deal and absolutely hit the spot. I will be frequenting this place for my sweet treats. At this point, I've gone back for the original but there are various flavors you can try. Definitely recommend

My husband obtained the most divine classic tres leches cake baked at the Tres Leches Cafe but sold at a nearby LES bodega. I hadn't had this pastry in years and was amazed at how delicious it was. Thus, I was delighted to find the Tres Leches Cafe storefront with more tres leches flavors (including the quatro leches cake with caramel) as well as other desserts. I opted for the tres leches with guava, which was excellent. I loved how the tartness cut through the sweetness of the cake. Soaked in three kinds of milks, the cake indeed is incredibly moist and rich. The large slice is a great deal at around $5, just slightly less than at the bodega.

The tres leches cake was to die for! Will definitely be coming back again. They have a wide variety of flavors too.

One of the best tres leches spot in NY!! Hands down... i can eat the 8 people portion one all by myself!! Its that GOOD! Hahhaa but besides the original they have other flavors like pineapple, guava and passion fruit as well.

Been to this place a handful of times but I've never taken a photo. A friend of mine loves the Tres Leches cake here and I've tried a couple variants. My favorite is the Passion Fruit/Maracuyá as the sourness of said fruit helps with the overall sweetness of this very moist cake. The unique Quatro Leches is also tasty if you're looking for even more sweetness as it has a small thin layer of dulce de leche I believe. This traditional one is also solid and I know others who like the guava one but I've never been a huge fan of guava so I didn't try it. Very solid little specialty shop though apparently some people have gotten slightly old cakes so I guess check the expiration dates but I've never had any issues. Low/Mid 4

One of the best tres leches cakes I've ever had in NYC. I used to love the tres leches in either queens or the Bronx but once this establishment opened up down in the LES, there was no need to trek all the way to the other boroughs when living in downtown BK. If your not a fan of super sweet and milky tres leches cake then this place is not for you but I'd say give it a try plus they have flavored cakes such as hersheys, pineapple, guava and more. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

I called to verify the prices and the hour of closing. Staff was extremely professional and informative. Thank you so much. I made it in time to purchase a birthday cake for my coworker. Theres not else much to say other than Tres Leches Cafe serves up some of the best tres leches you will ever have. Service was nice and fast as I was in and out in a few minutes. They have several flavors such as guava, pineapple, passion fruit, tiramasu, as well as a vegan option. You can also stop here for all your caffine needs including cafe con leche! I will be back to try their other items on the menu such as their muffins and cinnabons.

This place has the best tres leches in NYC. The cake is moist, the flavor is well balanced and the whipped cream frosting is amazing! I also found out that some of the Mexican restaurants in NYC also order their tres leches cakes from this place. It's a solid choice! I preordered a small cake which can feeds 6-8 people or 2 day supply for one person (me LOL). The price I was quoted online was different from what I was told at the store, so if you want more bang for your buck, go to the Harlem location. Also please note that their purple frosting looks blue, and if you do get customized frosting for a bday, to make sure that bday is the day you pick it up...because the frosting bleeds over night. Aside from that, you got yourself a good cake!

They have some new flavors in addition to the Pineapple, Guava, Cuatro Leche, Tres Leche, like Hershey, Tiramisu, and Strawberry cheesecake (this isn't a tres leches). As usual employees are really sweet. The tiramisu one was excellent. The cheesecake was like any standard cheesecake but I wish there was more strawberry compote because it felt like a single teaspoon spread across the entire top. There's no crust either incase anyone was wondering!

Amazing! Love Leche and love cake and these tres leches cakes did not disappoint!! I tried the Passion fruit, guava, regular, the tiramisu and the flan. Flan was not impressed. A little on the denser side. Flavor was just okay. This flan was missing more of the caramel malt flavor for me. The tiramisu was good. Better than I have had at some places. the trees leches cakes were all soo good. The passion fruit was a little on the sweeter side for me but still soo good. Good balance of passion fruit flavor. The guava was perfect. Not too sweet and the regular traditional one was great. Service was quick and they have everything ready to go. Prices are reasonable. Not paying $10-$12 for a slice of cake anymore!!

Updating my review from the last time. I made sure to try it all the day I got it Yeah, I stand by my original review. I thought that the classic tres leches was a little too wet and the cuatro leches was a little on the drier side. After about a day or two, I had the other half of my cuatro leches and it seemed to absorb more of the milk and have decent moisture without the texture of a soggy cake. My husband got the passion fruit tres leches. This one was perfect. Not soggy, but not dry. Perfectly moist, so an extra star for that.

My friend's grandma makes the best tres leches on earth. I had a regular cake from here after getting a gown tailored and I now have a place to go and recommend for really yummy cake. This is the best takeaway tres leches you can get in the city! Now that I've discovered this place, I'm concerned my altered gown won't fit...

If you are craving some yummy dessert near LES, I definitely recommend you to get something here. The cakes slices are so good. I prefer the regular tres leches or the passion fruit one. The guava one was too sweet. The shop is small and no seating but it is fine. The tres leches cake is so yummy. You can share it with a friend because it is a lot for one serving. If you go during an off time it is not crowded and you do not need to wait to be helped. Obviously wear a mask and it is quite quick in and out the door.

This is a small cafe located in LES with a huge assortment of Tres Leches cakes and other treats. We got 3 different flavors of the cake -Passionfruit, Guava, and Cuatro Leches- and they were all really good. We particularly liked the Passionfruit and Cuatro Leches flavors. The cake itself is super moist and exactly what you expect Tres Leches to taste like. Service was very friendly. I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you're looking to pick up a treat on the go, as there's no seating area available.

Wow, the cake from here is so awesome! They are so creamy, well balanced, tasty, delicious, craving for more. I am usually not the sweet type of person. I don't like to eat sweet much, personal taste for some reason. However, I got wowed so much from its cake that I asked for encores. Damn delicious!

An absolutely must go to spot if you love tres leches, cakes, or desserts!! I've gotten the original tres leches slice two days in a row already!! The location is so dangerously close to me!!! The cake is generously sliced into squares and put in a plastic container. The cake is moist and soaked in milk!! There's a small cherry on top of each slice, and each one costs around ~4.40. Amazing price!! A slice of flan 3 minutes away is priced at $6 for half the size of their tres leches (I know, not even the same cake.... but.... if you're picking desserts in LES, stop by this cafe first and foremost!!) I'm definitely going to come back and try the other flavors... they have cuatro leches, pineapple, passionfruit, guava, flan, flan de coco, etc. They also have shakes/fruit smoothies on their menu. The place is small and there's no indoor seating, just grab and go!

Ordered a Tres Leches cake for 30 people for my staff. Everyone raved about it! Would attach a photo but they ate it all! Staff at store are so nice too! Ordered it in advance and it was ready when promised. Also great prices. Will definitely order from here again!

So glad a legit tres leches spot exists in LES. Smart that the East Harlem business decided to open up downtown. Honestly there are only a few decent ones around, and Tres Leches Cafe absolutely kills it. $4 for the tres leches. $5 for the cuatro leches (it has subtle dulce de leche in the top layer!). $2.50 flan. All executed perfectly. The cakes were the moistest tres leches I've had yet; I've had them drier before. They offer it with other fruity tops too like guava. INDULGE YO'SELF.

We tried just about every flavor of Tres Leches and loved every bite! Personally faves had to be the Original and the Pineapple. The staff is very nice and will help you choose the right flavors! Definitely a hidden gem in the LES.

Wonderful little place to grab desserts to go. It's a small area that doesn't offer seating but the size of the cake makes up for it, great for sharing! It's only $4 for the original and $5 for their specialty flavors. The lady gave great advice and the passion fruit does have a sour note that balances the sweetness of the leches which was perfect for my friend! It was a hit and I can see us definitely order a cake in the future from here. I can't wait for their tiramisu flavor to be available. I'll definitely be back. One note would be that not everyone would enjoy it due to the soggy texture but it's soaked in deliciousness of condensed/evaporated milk, maybe a crunchy topping would change it up? Support local business and come give this place a try- you won't regret it.

If you like your tres leches cake soaked in milk, this is the place for you. This is by far the best tres leches spot that I've tried in the city. Even my parents who hates tres leches, ended up loving their cakes. I've tried everything except for the pineapple tres leches. I'm definitely coming back to try the pineapple and bring home the other flavors. Cuatro leches is rich in flavor and delicious; definitely can taste the dulce leche. As for the tres leches, it is light but also delicious.

My friend requested a Tres Leches cake for her birthday, I googled and found one nearby! It's a small shop and I never noticed it, I can't believe it's been here all along! I also bought a Tres Leches Guava Cake Slice, it's amazing - made me feel like i'm in the island Looking forward to trying the other flavors!

Amazing tres leches!! I've been craving the cake since moving from Texas years ago, and I'm so glad this spot opened on Orchard St. Although I craved the original, I had to try the different flavors offered here. With the help of the friendly woman behind the counter, I picked up the Cuatro Leches and Passion Fruit Tres Leches for my group to share. We tried the Cuatro Leches first, and wow! It was similar to a classic Tres Leches, so I'm glad I went for it because it really scratched that itch. But it also goes above and beyond! The icing is rich with caramel notes that were simulateously subtle and deep. The moistness of the cake was just right. My friends that have never tried a tres leches were impressed. The second one, passion fruit, was surprisingly quite different. While cuatro leches was full-on richness, the passion fruit spread on top provided a refreshing and tart component to cut the pure sugary goodness. The flavors really complimented each other, a good choice for something more tropical. Some of our group preferred the smooth richness of the cuatro leches, and the others preferred the refreshing balance of the passion fruit. You can't go wrong with either. I would love to try the guava next (they were sold out). A cheerful cafe that really nails their concept!

I tried out the passion fruit slice of cake it was amazing, if you feel weirded out about jelly and cake together then it might not be your type. The lady at front was sweet and knows Spanish too.

Tres Leches cakes are one of my fav desserts, but they're so difficult to find in restaurants and dessert shops. I visited the shop and purchased 2 cakes and was in absolute heaven. The cakes really hit the spot, were creamy but not completely soaked and had just the perfect amount of sweetness. I would come back just to get my fill of tres leches. 100% recommend for tres leches lovers.

I have nothing to compare their cakes to as I don't ever recall having a tres Leches cake. I definitely enjoyed the classic cake I had. The employee was very helpful and started her thoughts on all the flavors but in the end recommended the classic for our first time. It was refreshing. Just the right amount of sweetness! I'd definitely go back to try the fruity flavors.

omg i love tres leches and i've finally found THE spot to get my tres leches fix! they're a small store but have so many flavors! i got the regular version and it was AMAZING- so decadent, perfectly soaked & creamy, but not overly sweet

Worth the trip -got the Quattros leches and it did not disappoint. A pure balance of leches, not too sweet, moist and cake texture lovely plus topping.

Ordered this cake as per request for an employee's birthday and she was blown away. The majority of our coworkers truly enjoyed the tres leches cake(we bought 2 size mediums) enough to feed an office of about 25 people. We only ate one cake so far and will definitely save the other one for next week. It was the perfect amount of moisture without making the actual cake soggy. I've already recommended this place and cake to everyone at work!

Good texture, creamy, but also soggy, bland and tastless. It was just... meh. I've tasted much better tres leches cakes around the city. And they say this is the best tres leches in the city??? PLEASE. Literally tastes like nothing. Flavorless and soggy. Also needs more sugar.

I went in to buy cake and I was sold two expired "Cuatro Leches" slices of cake. Whoever is in charge of that location should pay more attention to their inventory. It's extremely careless of them, especially since these slices are $5 a piece so I legit just spend $10 for some expired cakes. So if you do decide to walk in there just be careful.

If you love tres leches - this is the place for you to visit!! Its tucked away in lower east side, and you probably passed it a few times and missed it - but turn on google maps and make sure to stop in!! The woman here is very sweet and explained all the options to me, but honestly I just wanted to try the most authentic cake. It definitely did not disappoint. She has a variety of flavors and options and is extremely at-tentative and patient in explaining all the different varieties and taste profiles. Ordered a small cake for a birthday which fed more than 12 people, it is extremely moist, very sweet and delectable and absolutely almost sinful with each bite. While I was there I also ordered an ice coffee and that was amazing as well!! I have come back quite a few times to just order one cake for myself and it was delicious! Service is great and my god if I wasn't afraid of getting extremely overweight I would definitely order from this place on the daily. They will be coming out with a vegan version shortly, so I can not wait to try that!! Highly recommend this tres leche place!

Absolutely the best you'll ever have. Perfect and beautiful and delicious, consistently EVERY TIME! The magic is almost indescribable. It's one of those things in life you just have to try once, & you're in!! We often get a bunch of these for the office for any and all events- sometimes we just make up a reason hahahahhahah TRUST ME- Bring a few of these for a dinner party or holiday dinner/event or any kind of gathering and they will be an absolute HIT!! This is just one of those places that could never, ever get less then 5 stars. There's just no way. The people here are wonderful and lovely and the place is always totally clean & spotless! The service is kind and friendly ALWAYS!! Anyone that posts otherwise lies! Hahahahaha They really do care. AND Come to find out there's an original location on the upper east side that's been a staple there for a million years. And rightfully so. Anyone that can make something this wonderful deserve to be on tv!! On the news!! Where are all the celebrity chefs??!? Why are they not going on & on & going nuts over this place? Where is Anthony Bourdain when you need him!!???!?! Love love love this place and the people. God bless!!!! Ok thanks to too good to go plus another visit, I got to try all tres leches flavors sold here(I think). My personal ranking from the favorite to the least favorite is original, passion fruit, cuatro leches, guava. The jam layer of passion fruit is too sour for me but it does balance the sweetness well and make me eat so much more than I intended to. Cuatro leches is too sweet for me. The top layer cream lingers on your tongue and make it even sweeter. The top layer jam of guava has this weird sticky texture which is not my favorite. Also the jam is sweet so it's basically sweet + sweet, not a great combo in my opinion. The traditional is definitely the best in my mind. Give it a try!! Now I need to try their flan and update the review again at some point.

When I saw a place specializing in Tres Leches was opening in my neighborhood, I was really excited to try it. Ever since my trip to Peru where I had many delicious iterations of this cake, I've gotten it almost every time I've seen it on a menu. I bought a slice of their normal tres leches cake but they had a variety of different flavors. The cashier was very thorough in explaining all the varieties they offered such as a caramel version and passion fruit, which seemed intriguing. When I got home, I tasted it and was greeted by an extremely wet cake without a lot of dimension. The cake was basically mush. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or not.. maybe it was sitting there for a long time since I came in the morning around when they opened. I can't say this is something I would buy or eat again which is saying a lot because I love dessert and tres leches so much...

I was first introduced to Tres Leches Cafe when I tried their individual tres leches cakes at a restaurant called Noches de Colombia. It was so creamy, moist, and just melts in your mouth. We knew that once an opportunity comes up, we would order one of their large cakes. I called 5 days in advance to put in the order and emailed them the picture I wanted on my cake, which was for an additional fee. The ML large cake is good for 24 servings and we were able to feed more than that amount depending on the size of the serving. On the day of the party, we drove about an hour to downtown to pick up the cake. As good as the individual cake slices tasted, the big cake tasted just as good. It was a huge hit at the party. Definitely looking forward to try their other flavors of cakes.

Gross. Was recommended to this place last week and was looking forward to trying it. Went today and to say the least, it was disappointing. It tasted expired. Literally put one scoopful in my mouth and instantly regretted it. I had to run to the garbage to spit it out. Waste of money . First and last time going to this shop. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!! First yelp review unfortunately goes to this business.

This is hands down the best tres leches cake I have tried in NYC. They have two locations. One in East Harlem, and the other in the Lower East Side. If you like tres leches I suggest you try it out. You won't regret it!

The tres leches cake was a hit at our last birthday party. Everyone wanted to know where I bought it from. Will definitely buy again. The smaller cakes make a great gift for smaller gatherings.
