Tres Machos

Delicious food and great service! I got a "medium" marg that was absolutely huge; I’d be scared to see the large. I love that their menu includes some more authentic dishes as well as a few experimental options - it’s not just your usual texmex experience.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a lovely time! It's very colorful and festive, which my kids loved. Service was prompt and attentive. The tableside guacamole was delicious and the salsa was great too! I got the shrimp tacos, which were good (but slightly spicy), and my husband got the sopes, which neither of us had before. He got it with chicken and both he and my son (4) really enjoyed it! I also tried some and it was good - the sope has a unique flavor and texture. It's thicker than a tortilla and soaks up the flavors well. I also got the Mexican street corn and it was ok. I think I might just not be a fan of it - it always looks like it'd be more flavorful in pictures. We got the kids taco salad for our daughter (5) which she didn't enjoy as much, unfortunately. There's a lot of seating here, and what looks like a separate (potentially reservable?) space for parties. It was pretty busy for a Saturday evening dinner, but not crazy. I wish I could give 4.5 stars - the food was good, but not amazing. If it weren't so close to my house I'd probably go elsewhere for Tex Mex. The sopes were a nice surprise though - I don't see that on every menu. Still, definitely a good local Mexican spot. Great service, good food, good vibes.

Too expensive for average quality Mexican food. The staff is nice but the specials and magarita night prices are very misleading.

This place definitely delivered the liquor and the meal as me and my partner were not be displeased if you’re a bigger person you require just a bit more to drink to really get a little tipsy however, overall the experience is nice and so are the staff if you want a big portion of food, this place would definitely fill up whatever you were looking for so come hungry and leave full.

Visited from out of town while at a volleyball tournament. The food was fantastic, and our service was top-notch. Very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend!

I visited Tres Machos today for lunch at the suggestion of a friend. We ate outside, so I can not speak to the interior decor. The tables outside were fine, just the interior tables placed on the sidewalk. The service was excellent. We had chips and salsa almost immediately and drinks shortly after. The waiter recommended the burrito, Mexicano, and it was phenomenal. My buddy also went with the waiter’s suggestion and he was impressed as well. Great food, great service and reasonable prices. A win all around.

I got chicken fajitas my husband got the Cancun fajitas (chicken, shrimp and sausage) they were huge and delicious! We were stuffed by the time we finished them. We ordered the guacamole it tasted fresh and yum! The chips and salsa were delicious. The waiter was very friendly, and thought he was professional and kind.

I was in town for a couple of hours and wasn’t so sure where to go and am I glad I chose the right place. Tres Machos reminds me of the good old days when I used to travel to Mexico. I ordered the Lunch Special Mexicano with steak it had a lot of flavor, rice was fluffy and soft, beans were nice and moistened. The best part about this place is that you get a free refill on the Horchata and that is not common especially in Virginia!

We loved our server Aruy she was very nice and friendly and accommodating to our big party. The food was really good and flavorful and you can even get margaritas to-go so that's a plus!!!

The staff here know how to upsell. See for yourself when you go. Very friendly and attentive. The food is very good. Today I enjoyed the Veggie Fajitas and some fresh guacamole. Large portions. I love their Birria as well. Highly recommend. You should definitely check them out!

I almost didn't do a review of this restaurant because I don't want to give away my favorite Mexican spot in Richmond. The enchiladas del puerto are amazing and I recommend that everyone tries them. The service here is great and everyone is so friendly. This is my go to, casual Mexican restaurant in Richmond!

Food was very bland. Drinks were mainly juice. I got the Birria tacos and they had no flavor. Our server was very nice though.

Tuesday 3/15/22 4:17pm I love the outside building colors as well as the inside decor and colors. Mexican restaurants are always so colorful and happy. My waitress however, didn't seem so happy but we will work around that. 100% efficient, 10% personality. Salsa is 99% of the time too spicy for me. I wish they served a mild option. I end up always having to order cheese dip for my nachos. An additional $5 ugh. This restaurant had spicy salsa (too spicy for me) and the consistency was like baby food. I prefer chunky salsa. While at work I already decided I was going to try the guacamacho. I love fresh guacamole and it has a little twist coming with four chicken flautas topped with sour cream and cheese. This was just "ok" it looks really nice. The flautas were dry on the inside but I can see the potential. This is definitely an appetizer for 2 or a meal for one. The sweet tea was the bomb! Okay, I'm really outing our fave secret family dinner spot, but the Tres Machos crew deserves the love. First of all, they are SO great with kids. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful-- a million stars. Second tip: happy hour is a good deal. Definitely check it out and enjoy the hilarious videos they play on the TV's as an added bonus And finally: the meal deals are awesome! You can get all combos of delicious eats for a very affordable price. We've also had great experiences with the kids portions and the burrito options. Enjoy!

Had the spinach and chicken enchiladas. Great food, large portion, very flavorful. First time trying their menu. Will definitely be going back for dinner.

Went here on a whim for weekday date night. The staff are nice and attentive (though really tried to upsell more liquor on us), food was okay and a little pricey, drinks tasted a little off. I won't be back but I can see the appeal for some!

Today I was just reminded why I don't come here anymore. 1. I ordered the mixed fajita nachos and received fajitas . While I told them their error the lady told me I was wrong in what I ordered ! Since I was over it and I already waited AND PAID I told them just add some cheese sauce on the side and I'll be on my way but she kept saying no. Which is weird bc I'm trying to work with you after you upcharged me and gave me the wrong food?? So she finally decided to remake it but not give me the refund on the difference!!! On top of it it is not the nachos I have ordered in the past... It was so bland and they gave me COLD cheese and some random lil sauce on the side?!No just no.

I have hearing rave reviews about these barria tacos, who doesn't want food that needs to be dipped in something! I was not disappointed AT ALL, very flavorful and delicious. The restaurant was a part of a brewery so they didn't have the normal fountain drinks but that was understandable. My family enjoyed their food as well everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly! I will definitely visit again and try other things on the menu and maybe a drink or two !! I told the staff this was my first time visiting and they were very patient and explained everything to me.

Went here on a Friday night and it wasn't overly busy so we were seated immediately. After ordering we got our drinks, mine was wrong at first but then corrected. It was kinda strange because throughout the night we had three different people waiting on us. We waited a very long time to get our food and by the time we got it we were so full on chips and drinks that we could've done without the food. I was impressed with some different options for vegetarian food. My meal was decent but not a ton of flavor, my husbands looked really good but he barely ate any because he was full. Overall if I was already in the area I might try it again but won't go out of my way to go there.

Three cheers for Tres Machos... not five. I came with a small group and we were welcomed and seated quickly. My friend ordered a happy hour margarita that was served in a huge glass, more like a bowl! She said it was strong and tasty. We ordered carnitas tacos and quesadillas. While they weren't the best I've had, they were satisfying. The tortillas and queso was pretty good, but the cheese could've been a bit thicker. The price matched the food and the service was average. The atmosphere was festive, colorful and cheerful. There's another Mexican restaurant nearby, and I will say, I preferred this one. Parking is a challenge... few spaces in front, and down a steep alley will lead you to a few in the back. It's kind of creepy back there so be on your toes. Three is the theme here, so three stars it is! ***

Green enchiladas were AWFUL, chicken was dry, rice had no flavor and guacamole was not EDIBLE!

I love love love Mexican food so much so that I could literally eat it every single day. After driving by Tres Machos a gazillion times I finally gave in and decided to give it a try. The pros -They have a unique menu that features lots of different items including dishes with crab & lobster. - the size of the booths are very spacious so in case you get a little wild with all the carbs and get bloated you'll still have plenty of room. - the staff is amazing!! They were friendly and kept the drinks flowing. Cons - the happy hour price of a margarita was 9 bucks which seems a little on the high side for a happy hour deal. - the parking lot is teeny tiny and very dark on the side of the building at night time. - the chips weren't very good. Did I eat them?? hecks yea I did!! Was I hungry?? Oh you know I was!! Doesnt mean they tasted good. Overall I enjoyed my time at Tres Machos but if we are re being honest and doing an apples to apples comparision here Tres Machos lands in the middle of the pack and gets an average 3 star rating.

Our favorite Mexican joint! They work hard and aim to please! Sitting at the bar and watching them make their large drinks is a treat! The service can't be beat, and it comes with a friendly face each time. The food is always great--my husband gets the whole fish each time, and I typically get a combo of sorts. It never disappoints!

I wanted to like this place but the smell of the purple fabuloso was killing me!!! I had the quesabirria tacos plate and it was yummy but I also tasted fabuloso. Short reviews aren't the norm for me but please beware that you may be tasting the purple fabuloso if you go here. That's all I got...fabuloso quesabirria tacos.

I stopped in just for the quesabirria tacos and wasn't too impressed. You get three tacos and a scoop of rice for $12.50. The tacos were a bit bland, even after dipping them in the consommé. However, they were a decent size. There was barely any cheese inside, which the picture shows lots of cheese. I also had a medium house margarita for happy hour (3p-7p), which was $8.99. That's the regular price I pay for margaritas NOT on happy hour special. The large was $10.99. It was ok. I've definitely had better! The service was as expected. It wasn't too busy and they only had one server. Overall, I was a bit disappointed and probably won't go back, especially for happy hour! FYI: one of the other reviews talk about it smelling like fabuloso inside.... It's TRUE! Very overpowering!

Poor customer service by host staff. Manager treated staff poorly in front of customers. Food took 45 minutes when quoted to take 15. Tacos we're soggy and completely fell apart. Sketchy vibe

Really bad food. stale taco shells cold cheese enchiladas and the waitress kept coming to the table after forgetting the order. Stomach has been upset all day after eating there yesterday.

Very nice waitress, food comes out HOT and absolutely delicious. Their frozen margarita was more of the strawberry slushy than anything else. Qua smile was fresh, made as soon as we entered.

Parking was a little odd and my original drink menu was sticky (gross) BUT the service and food were both really good, so I would go back for sure.

I wanted to like it more, but neither the fish tacos nor the chicken empanadas were all that great. Rice wasn't very flavorful. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I'll give them another shot, but this wasn't a great first impression. It DID smell like bleach when I went in to pick up my order. A plus during COVID!

Stumbled on this place looking for some decent Mexican food that isn't overpriced. We have only order from Tres Machos on DoorDash, so this review doesn't say anything about the place itself. However, we love the food here . I usually get the beef chimichangas and my boyfriend enjoys the burrito texana. The salsa is fresh, and the chimichangas are still crispy and fresh even after being boxed up! Sometimes we even splurge and get the nachos extreme with chicken or beef and that's a whole meal alone! Give this place a try, even if it's takeout!

This is the location on Westwood Ave. Food had no flavor, freshness or love. Menudo tasted bland. The can tasted better. The fish tacos looked sad and fish tasted old. I asked for sour cream and they charged me $2.50. Mind you the majority of it had to be thrown away. The shrimp fajitas where $25 frozen with no flavor. The menudo I mentioned was $16.99. They were 7 of us including 3 children. The total came to $283 dollars including a $42 gratuity which they didn't mention. We paid in cash but they didn't bring up a 5% discount for cash. Initially they didn't want to honor that. Overall, the place is too pricey with lame food. Never going back again.

Service was excellent and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves . The food was fresh and delicious cooked perfectly. I ordered the quesadilla tacos with rice . They were perfect !

Stopped by today for lunch with my lady. We both really enjoyed our meals. The food was flavorful and there was a ton of it. The prices were very reasonable and the service was fast and friendly. We had top shelf margaritas with our meals and they were some of the best margaritas we've had in a while. We'll definitely be back soon.

I came here because of their great reviews and I can't say enough great things about this place. I loved my servers. They were so sweet and attentive. I didn't order the guacamole, but the people next to me did and they make it fresh, in front of you! My meal was $11 and huge. I saved the rest for dinner. I loved the amount of effort you could tell the staff was putting into your experience at their restaurant. I will recommend this place to people!

A few friends had dinner this week. My cantarito loco cocktail was truly delicious but my friends' margaritas were very heavy on the premixed mixer.... Almost syrupy or something. It was Taco Tuesday: I had two chicken and two ground "beef" tacos. The ground "beef" was very odd tasting, were unseasoned and had an odd consistency. I have no idea what it was but none of us ate our "beef" tacos. There was a hair in one of my tacos but I didn't bother to send it back because I didn't want another one. The service was okay-- one waitress was friendly and helpful but the other seemed annoyed. Definitely not going back.

I think it was a bad night, the guac was drowning in lime juice and not edible. My fajita taco salad had so much salt I couldn't eat it. It was very disappointing.

Came here for margaritas. They were terrible...fake lime flavor that tastes like a melted green popsicle. It didn't taste like there was a lick of tequila in it. It also came from one of those plastic machines that pushed the juice around. It had what appeared to be radioactive sludge in it. Oh and the price, $8.99 for happy hour. Hard pass. Stick to Lalos. Although I can't comment on the food, I can't help but think that the many positive reviews are from the fact that they offer a 10% discount if you show the server a review that you write on Google, Facebook or Yelp.

Tried it twice and both times felt this place was way overrated. The food and drinks just didn't meet my expectations at all.

Trying out a new place while visiting my son . Found this once on Yelp . Food was good but they didn't have chicken taco my daughter wanted which was strange . Anyway I wish food was little more spicier . Parking was VERY limited didn't like that

Ordered through uber eats. The kids cheese quesadilla meal is supposed to come with a drink but it never did and also it's just supposed to have cheese on it but it has meat on it and I don't eat meat. Also ordered The seafood chimichanga and it says it has crab on it but they don't use real crab they use fake crab which contains fish and I don't eat fish! Literally cant even eat anything I ordered!

This is a HIDDEN GEM. Very attentive and friendly staff!! Waited 30 seconds to be seated. Chips, salsa and white sauce came out within seconds of sitting down. Lunch Steak Fajitas were MIND BLOWING GOOD. Ill be back for lunch very soon, could be even tomorrow. One recommendation: Maybe do a Frequent Lunch Visitor Card. Eat lunch 10 times and get a free Soda or Chips with Queso. Nothing that will break the bank but will give customers an added incentive to go.

Placed an order through Uber eats with multiple coworkers to the Richmond location and received by far the worst food and service we have ever received. We filed a complaint and request for refund through Uber eats but also called the restaurant to inform them that the quality of food we were provided was unacceptable. The first attempt to reach them they advised our order was not placed with them (it was). Another coworker (who speaks Spanish) called back and told them about our order to which they then acknowledged. My coworker said she over heard them saying "oh they called back and she speaks Spanish." ... I guess it's easy to lie when you think people can't understand you. We asked for the manager to witch she would not give that information. The employee just took our number and said they would call back. Yeah, because we know that will happen . They also sent ONE bag of chips for 5 entrees and a "fresh" guac. (See pic) What a disappointment. Considering we are a large medical organization that frequents food delivery, it certainly will never be from here again.

This is my go to Mexican food restaurant. The food is good and plenty. We always get great service.

The guacamole was made fresh right in front of you and was delicious. The server was helpful and adjusted the menu for the picky people in our party.

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD! There's literally a screw in my food. I told the waiter and he said oh. There was no apology. He gathered the food and said I see it. He was rude when we arrived but we understand it may have been a busy day but this is unacceptable. Never again. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND

We met some family for lunch & the food and service were fantastic. The margaritas were great, the tableside guacamole was super fresh & everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed their food. I highly recommend Tres Machos!

My friends and I have a regular Wednesday night dinner here every week. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious and the staff are so much fun! If you want relaxed dining, cold beer and tequila, great chips and salsa, along with an extensive menu of food, come to Tres Machos II!
