Lebron James’ Fast-Casual Chain Blaze Pizza Has Plans for a Massive DFW Expansion - Eater Dallas

"Trick Pony, Harlowe MXM’s neighboring sister bar, has a new 10-person tasting room Pony Tail devoted to one spirit only. The bar-within-a-bar at the back of the establishment serves up amaro from 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Look for the mirrored wall under an “MXM” sign to sample the bartenders’ amaro-infused concoctions using well-known liqueurs such as Campari and Aperol, alongside some lesser-know counterparts." - Alaena Hostetter

Got here as an early evening stop before dinner. Bar was sleepy and staff still organizing for the impending onslaught. Service could have been more prompt given the dearth of clientele, but our bartender was intimate with the drink menu and was helpful in steering us to good selections. He was gracious to tweak recipes to the taste of my more sweet-minded friend. Appreciate any establishment dedicated to the demanding craft of cocktails over well call drinks. The bar furniture itself is amazing. Industrial swivel stools built I to the bar horseshoe which easily stow away. Points for inventive architectural detailing.

Pony tail was an absolutely amazing experience! Drinks were great and the bartenders were very personable.

Google
The menu online and the themes did not match. The owner/manager who “is there every day” and served me his “life’s work” took 25 minutes to make three cocktails. There were only six of us in the bar. It was so off putting And the drinks were okay. Just not what I had hoped for.

Google
Excellent cocktails and outstanding service. Bar has an industrial look which gives it an upscale vibe. Great location. Nice selection of unique bar foods.

Google
What a beautiful place. I loved the atmosphere. The outside roof top was hot, mid-summer but the mist-devices were a nice touch.

Google
Pretty solid cocktails here - I've been a few times and I have always preferred asking the bartender to make whatever he is feeling rather than ordering off the menu.

Google
Actually the first bar I went to where I could describe the type of drink I like and I got a passionate and unique interpretation from the bar tender. I'm so happy we stopped in here last minute after dinner. He made two unique drinks for me based off my preferences and they were fantastic! I wish I knew his name. 11/11/22 1030pm Glasses, little dark pony tail, and a beard? I don't know your name, but you should make some signature drinks for the menu, loved it!

Google
I loved the idea. The service was not good tonight. The gentleman who waited on us seemed like he needed help, and the lady was not having a anything to do with us tonight. **we were by an obnoxious group... but still... not okay when you charge 16 for a drink.

Yelp
My boyfriend loves this place, however, I don't see what he sees. Yeah the bar is hip and looks like the bartenders are edgy, but i really wasn't impressed by the drinks. The drink really tasted like a mocktail. I really wouldn't come back here, but i know Ib will because my boyfriend like it.

Yelp
They have some awesome custom drinks here! Quite unique! They taste so good too! The atmosphere cool too!

Yelp
I think the place is charming and intimate for a bar setting. I came tonight with some friends, for a Friday night it wasn't too jam packed but it was full though. The bar service was very slow, which was fine for me because we had been pub crawling.. Staff not warm or welcoming though. Very "what do you want? what? okay" and the slight bit of decent customer engagement came towards the end when it was time to pay and tip. I don't normally make bad reviews but I am doing so here in hopes of improving the experience because it is a great setting and it has a lot of potential. I've worked in restaurants for over a decade, I know how far congeniality goes in this industry. For such a small environment, it needs to be friendly and engaging to set it apart from the plethora of bars on this strip. GOOD DRINKS TOO!

Yelp
My friend and I went out here on Friday night and we really loved the vibe and feel of Trick Pony! We were looking for a relaxing and fun place to stop in and grab a drink and we found it here. As you walk into the main courtyard area of Trick Pony you are greeted by two sides--one that is the bar and the other that is the restaurant. We went to the bar side and it had such a cool feel. It is a wrap around bar with pop out seating and a few tables around near the wall. Chris was our bartender and told us a little bit about the menu and our options. He told us that he could make any drink that we wanted. I decided to get a taste of the raspberry beer and really liked it. It had a nice hint of sweetness as well as some sourness too. My friend got a sauvignon blanc and we just chatted, sipped, and enjoyed. We never felt pressure to rush out and leave and Chris was amazing and checked on us from time to time. The feel of the bar and the staff made me want to stay and makes me want to come back.

Yelp
Well it was a Saturday night in me and my friend wanted to go someplace different so we stepped in and check this place out. It was absolutely fabulous so it was cool outside and when we entered they had a fabulous bar downstairs we proceeded to walk up stairs they had an inside heated balcony with a live band which was amazing. The View was absolutely fantastic!!! We went back downstairs to order our drinks then proceeded to go back upstairs to listen to the live band and enjoy the obvious the staff was Dynamite. Our bartender was very sweet she made our drinks in front of us and she did it all with a smile. I would definitely go back here and if you're ever in the area I suggest that you stop by you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
So Google, the website, and their sister bar Harlow says that they're open at 4 PM on Friday. Of course this is before holiday too, so would be great idea to be open on time. Unfortunately we arrived at 4:05 and they still weren't open. The side door was open and people were bringing stuff back-and-forth like ice. So we decided to give them a little bit of time. We went to Harlow, talk to the bartenders there ordered a couple drinks then decided to go back at 4:30. Still not open. We went back to Harlow decided to have a few more drinks try to go back at 5 o'clock still not open. Now we're not the only ones trying to do this either. There was a group of people who tried to open the door and the door didn't open so they were not allowed in. We made a special trip to come out for their Mexico City theme and would've enjoyed some cocktails there. Now it's a little after 6 PM and we tried going through the side door that was open and they told us that they would be open shortly after 6 o'clock unfortunately they were not. But there was a group of three or four people in there who are obviously the bars under's friend who are probably drinking there for free. Although I can't say for sure. The only reason I say this is because we were allowed in but there was a group of people at the bar who we saw the bartender let in. This is a horrible experience. We love the bar we love the drinks some bartenders are great. But as Harlow tells us this guy Dylan opens up the bar whenever he wants to. Do you guys not have a manager. Is it that hard to find somebody to run your business for you? You're losing tons of money. Will never be back for this one reason.

Yelp
I've been here twice now. First time on a Sunday afternoon, it was pretty chill maybe six people at the bar. Second time was on a Saturday night, with eight people at the bar top. It's never been full or crowded but that's the way I like it. I want to be able to get a drink when I need without someone elbowing me. It's a cute library looking place. The cocktails are good and unique! The bartenders are helpful. The first time I was in, I needed to use the bathroom and it was wet and smelly. I choose to wait till I got home during my second visit. I'd visit again!

Yelp
I came in to grab a drink with my boyfriend and the bartender with the awkwardly weird beard was extremely rude. Needless to say I left.

Yelp
One of the best bars for cocktails in Deep Ellum. Great ambiance with top quality drinks either from whatever theme you want it just tell them your personal favorite. Live music or DJ on weekends.

Yelp
I went to Harlowes on Valentine's Day with my companion. We were seated rather quickly, I should of took that as a sign. We ordered steak, oysters Rockefeller, and chile rubbed wings. The steak was burnt. The chicken was burnt. I think they were going for a chargrilled flavor but it doesn't translate well. The oysters left something to be desired. For 16+, I expected to get fresh juicy oysters but received the opposite. Not to mention you only get 4. Standard is 6. Our waitress was not attentive at all. After spending over 100 for meal, I truly expected more. I won't be coming back.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed in Trick Pony. There was so much promise. I really enjoyed the concept of the rotating themed menu. Great decor. Really cool barstools. When I did order a cocktail, they seemed like they actually put thought and effort into the drinks. Some memorable themes include: - Bill Murray theme with drinks inspired by his movies (Coffee and Cigarettes - Coffee infused alcohol with chocolate cigarettes, Groundhog day - the bartender gives you the same drink 3 times throughout your visit) -80s (lego shaped jello shots, alcoholic caprisuns) -Around the world in 80 cocktails - pretty self explantory: different cocktails from around the world -most recently some sort of Tiki theme? would not be able to speak about the drinks since i did not even get to order one. Last night we waited almost 20 mins to even talk to the bartender. Sure, it was extremely packed and the bartender seemed slammed making these complicated cocktails. However, I was willing to wait since I had extremely positive experiences in the past. I figured the wait was going to be worth it in the end. When we finally got the bartender's attention, and I had asked for a menu, he said "no Menus". When I look across the bar, there was another bartender that seemed to walk through other patrons through the menu. I quickly asked "So no more tiki drinks?" He responds with "No". I guess we missed the last tiki drinks of the night by one round. That was disappointing. We just walked out. Until I notice something changes (crowd control, more thoughtful bartenders), I will not be returning. I've already told many of my friends to avoid this place as well. If you're looking for a cool cocktail bar, just walk a couple yards more over to HIDE bar.

Yelp
In comparison to its ugly sister, Harlowe MXM, Trick Pony is a really cool place. We wanted to catch the Bill Murray cocktails, but apparently this bar rotates themed menus every month! We both enjoyed drinks from the 80's themed menu. One of our drinks got put on the back burner for someone who ordered after us, and the bartenders forgot about it, then gave it to the wrong people. In the end, the drinks were worth it. I'm not the biggest fan of Piña Coladas, but The Miami Vice was AMAZING. It was such a treat!

Yelp
Stopped by this spot for a drink on a bar hop and met Justin, the great bartender! He made us some Long Island iced teas and WHEW, strong indeed. Great drinks for great prices!

Yelp
We were looking for a bar to chill at around Deep Ellum. Many of them looked divey and crowded, until we passed by this bar. This had a more quiet yet dark, sleek, and sexy atmosphere where you can properly order a drink and have a conversation. It was my friend's 30th birthday, so we ordered her their version of an old fashioned. I wanted a paloma style drink, but it wasn't included in their menu. I still asked and the bartender said he could still make a similar drink. His version of the paloma was the best I've had so far! After sipping for a while at the bar, we were told that there is a rooftop so we made our way up the stairs. The roof had a few tables as well as lounges where you can order more drinks and conversate. Connected to this rooftop is another rooftop with another bar. From here, you can get a view of the hustle and bustle of Deep Ellum, as well as the Dallas skyline (not the best, but still pretty cool). Overall, this was a great bar to check out and I'm glad we found this place in Deep Ellum. I will definitely visit again and hope to see the same bartender so I can drink my favorite Paloma drink again!

Yelp
Took our drinks before we were finished, not attentive. Acted like we were 'not up to their standards'. Very disappointed and did not live up to the hype.

Yelp
Good laid back atmosphere in all the craziness happening around it. Drinks were good and it was easy to carry on a conversation. Parking is difficult in this area so if you can Uber or prepare to walk a few blocks.

Yelp
Incredibly rude bartenders. We stopped in on a Friday around 7:30/8 pm to check it out after reading about it online. We try going through the fancy mirror door and the bartender tells us it's currently closed. No problem. We ask when it opens. His response is it's reservation only and we don't have a reservation. He then walks away back to the main bar before we could respond. Didn't even get through the door to check it out before we were already blown off. Didn't explain how we could make a reservation or ever answer our question about the hours. Overall, a very unwelcoming experience. Have no intentions of ever being a customer here.

Yelp
Do not go on a busy weekend night because the bartenders will not give a crap about you when they're trying to deal with the huge crowd. We tried to get their tiki menu on a Saturday night and after waiting 20 minutes to get the bartender's attention he told us they were "no more menus" even though we just watched him make 4 tiki drinks and when people across the bar were literally looking at the drink menu. We were not a rowdy group or anything like that so not sure what the deal was...

Megan P.

Yelp
When I'm not at work or at home, this is literally my first choice joint! The atmosphere is incognito; you might miss it walking by until you hear the music blasting through speakers outside and that alone will draw you in. They have super creative themes they showcase with their drinks and decorations (they brought in a free arcade game for the 80s theme month and menu, for example). Rob's obnoxiously amazing eggnog recipe rocked my holiday season. Their creativity knows no bounds... OH, and the service is excellent!

Yelp
Really nice environment and our bartendor Bryce is awesome. However the other bartender was really bitchy. First he walked by us 3 times in 5 mins after we were sedated but didn't serve us, didn't even greet. Later we knew he is pretty experienced. The thing of these experienced bartenders is that they think they could tell if the customers would tip more or less. And as Asians, I understand if he thought we won't tip him well. But hey that was his loss. We have been in this industry and we tip people really well every time. But he shouldn't let customers feel they were judged in this way in the first place. Second, he kept talking shit about the customers who left. Tips, manners.. we all human beings, we totally understand some people are worth to be complained about, but hey, being a professional bartender means you don't do that in front of your customers!!! So overall, I really like this place. But that bartender Made a 5 star review to 3 stars. I feel so pity for the owner. I actually liked everything else but 3 stars is how I feel at the end of the day.

Yelp
Bar atmosphere is ok but don't try to go into the hidden bar because you have to have a reservation and even when you do they won't stick the schedule of that. Not worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Watching these pros move behind the bar is magic. Cocktails are always incredible thoughtful. See CG for the best Ramos Gin Fizz in town!!

Adam N.

Yelp
Really cool environment, neat decor, well kept facility. We came in the early afternoon on a Saturday and it was lively but not overly loud or busy. The defining feature of this place to the four of us was how absolutely disinterested the bartenders were. We had to order our drinks twice (mind you it wasn't busy at all), and after a couple attempts to make conversation with the bartenders, we finally gave up. No personality, no customer service skills, no apparent interest in their job as servers. And beyond the lack of interest, we all picked up in the same sense of spite at having to talk to or even deal with us as customers. The bartender creates the atmosphere of the bar and this was just grueling trying to get through our drinks and get out. It was impactive enough that we're all decidedly not returning.

Madeline R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this bar!! Great cocktails and amazing bartenders! You can order food from the main dining room and eat it in the dim lit cocktail bar(trick pony). Ask for any drink from Chris or mike and they will go above and beyond! Highly recommend!

Molly W.

Yelp
Super cool! They don't have a drink menu, but the bartender is fantastic. Tell him what you like and he will make you a great drink.

Megan C.

Yelp
This place is sublime, transformative, and so choice. Hip, now, and totally wow! Chris G is alright.
