Extremely disappointed in Trick Pony.
There was so much promise. I really enjoyed the concept of the rotating themed menu. Great decor. Really cool barstools. When I did order a cocktail, they seemed like they actually put thought and effort into the drinks.
Some memorable themes include:
- Bill Murray theme with drinks inspired by his movies (Coffee and Cigarettes - Coffee infused alcohol with chocolate cigarettes, Groundhog day - the bartender gives you the same drink 3 times throughout your visit)
-80s (lego shaped jello shots, alcoholic caprisuns)
-Around the world in 80 cocktails - pretty self explantory: different cocktails from around the world
-most recently some sort of Tiki theme? would not be able to speak about the drinks since i did not even get to order one.
Last night we waited almost 20 mins to even talk to the bartender. Sure, it was extremely packed and the bartender seemed slammed making these complicated cocktails. However, I was willing to wait since I had extremely positive experiences in the past. I figured the wait was going to be worth it in the end.
When we finally got the bartender's attention, and I had asked for a menu, he said "no Menus". When I look across the bar, there was another bartender that seemed to walk through other patrons through the menu.
I quickly asked "So no more tiki drinks?" He responds with "No".
I guess we missed the last tiki drinks of the night by one round. That was disappointing. We just walked out.
Until I notice something changes (crowd control, more thoughtful bartenders), I will not be returning. I've already told many of my friends to avoid this place as well.
If you're looking for a cool cocktail bar, just walk a couple yards more over to HIDE bar.
